LEGO Reports 18% Global Sales Growth in H1 2015

Recommended Posts

LEGO is continuing its streak of financial success as it reports an 18% growth in revenue in the first half of 2015 compared to the first half of 2014. Operating profit saw an increase of 27% compared to the first half of 2014. The report says: "Lines such as LEGO City, LEGO Creator, LEGO Technic, and LEGO Star Wars continue to deliver very strong global results. LEGO NINJAGO, which has become an evergreen LEGO theme, also performed strongly, while new launches such as LEGO Elves and LEGO Jurassic World products were received very positively by children all over the world." No mention of BIONICLE unfortunately but this is still undoubtedly good news for LEGO. You can check out the entire report here.

Any chance that Bionicle could still be rolled under Technic? Technic as a whole doesn't seem like a line where I'd expect significant growth (seems more like a slow-and-steady 5% growth type of line), but Bionicle, if in fact popular, could cause a spike.

So this does seem to confirm that Bionicle G2 is not as big of a hit as G1.

Steam Name: Toa Hahli Mahri. Xbox Live Gamertag: Makuta. Minecraft Username: ThePoohster.

Wants: 2003 Jaller (from Jaller and Gukko), Exo-Toa, Turaga Nuju, Turaga Vakama, Shadow Kraata, Axonn, Brutaka, Vezon & Fenrakk, Nocturn, ORANGE FIKOU.

I got rid of my picture, are you happy?

It could be just as successful but be overshadowed by the bigger lines like Ninjago.

Yeah, while Bionicle's success in G1 (especially the early years) shouldn't be understated, it probably wouldn't have been nearly as big a deal to the company as a whole if so many of their other initiatives at the time weren't failing. Whereas at this point in time, LEGO has several massively successful themes like Star Wars, City, Friends, Creator, and Ninjago.

It's also important to remember that this is just an interim result, and can only tell us so much. After all, most themes' sales really start to pick up in the second half of the year as the Christmas season approaches.
