bionicleFanatic
Toodles, y'all o/ Being a game designer/developer, I'm pretty good at getting the feel of a game, and knowing if it's too difficult/easy for the players. However, I'm also a massive Bonkle nut (if the name didn't give it away []), so with Bionicle games I find it very hard to subjectively evaluate them. So basically what I'd like to know is: What style of gameplay is your favourite out of MNOG II's realtime Kolhii matches, or VNOG's turn-based CRPG battles? I know that both games had really poor "grinding" mechanics for quests (I lost count of the times I ran across Voya Nui), but I'm talking specifically about the Kolhii matches from MNOG II, and the battles from VNOG. So which one is your favorite, and why?
fishers64
I really liked the battles from VNOG better, because I could actually win them. There was more strategy involved and less button mashing. Quote Hero Factory RPG | Bionicle Mafia XXIX: Storyline & Theories
Toa Chuck
Vnog was much funner to me. Mnog II was so stupidly hard, and after enough grinding in strength stratagy and accuracy, it becomes a joke. In Vnog I was actually in control, and could actually strategically fight stuff. kathy
I liked MNOG 2 better, but that might be just because I love grinding. VNOG has too much boring fetch-questing in my opinion. Kopekemaster
I majorly prefer the VNOG system. I had zero success with the Kohlii games, but had fun with the turn-based battles in VNOG. Arzaki
VNOG, because I love RPGs in that style, I love the artwork, and I just love '06 in general. Irrie
VNOG was truly amazing, even better than the original MNOG. The battle functions, the music, the enjoyment that came from exploring the world, it was all so perfect. And one of the best things was how beautiful the background art was. Cheesy Mac n Cheese
Honestly, MNOGII for me. I barely played VNOG. MNOGII's canon storyline appealed to me, and it didn't have constant battles all over the place that I kept losing. The Kolhii matches were also surprizingly easy...to cheat in. Just keep restarting the match until the other team accidentally gets the ball in their goal first, scoring you a point, then get a hold of the ball and run in place in front of your goal. The offense on the other side won't be able to steal it, and you wait. You'll eventually win the game 1-0. I'm sure VNOG had better and less glitchy gameplay, but I just wasn't any good at it and kept losing my patience. The fact that its story wasn't canon to the overall story also made me invest less time and emotion into it. Rahkshi Lalonde
VNOG wins for combat and art style, but honestly both of those games were just so needlessly grindy or fetch-quest-y, they really forgot what was key in MNOG's success. :t

I would say VNOG wins for overall gameplay, but MNOG2 wins for art and story. And I'd take art and story anyway so... I'd go with MNOG2. Though after those two I'd say we need another -NOG to make up for them. 1 Quote Avatar by Nicholas Anderson (NickonAquaMagna)My blog: The Jaga's Nest
SPIRIT
I would say VNOG wins for overall gameplay, but MNOG2 wins for art and story. That sums up my thoughts on the matter. Having random NPCs who provide exposition just makes the world feel so much more alive. I can't recall if VNOG had this, but MNOLG2 suffered from a major lack of fast travel. Especially when you're going back and forth across the island, you don't want to just sit there as Hahli jogs across one empty landscape to another. At least with VNOG, you could use the move cheat. Granted, you pretty much HAD to get on google to discover cheats in the first place, but it's there. Naota Takizawa
I'm stuck between MNOGII and VNOG, both games have their qualities and flaws. I liked MNOG's art style, world building, but I didn't find any outstanding soundtracks on the game. I also remember hating the game as a kid because of the fact that the game would crash EVERYTIME I tried to find Nokama or the tools I needed for a particular stage in the game. I consider VNOG a better game because it's functional and never crashes, but it's just not very entertaining to play for long. Quote If you like Pingu & want to support a good project, click here. MNOGII had an amazing soundtrack...but that's simply because half of the music was recycled from the first game. I can't recall if VNOG had this, but MNOLG2 suffered from a major lack of fast travel. Toatapio Nuva
MNOGII all the way. Beautiful art, more insight into the Matoran culture, chance to talk to the various villagers, a fun game to train at... the only problem I have with the game is the ending, which is incredibly rushed and confusing.
