Hapori Tohu
We're taking a quick break from our Bionicle 2016 reviews to look at a set from the 2015 Star Wars range, namely 75101 First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter. BZPower Blog Assistant Ta-metru_defender has picked up this latest iteration of the Twin Ion Engine-powered craft in order to share his thoughts on it with you all. Will you score a kill by picking up this set, or will it crash and burn into your box of unused bricks? Read on to find out! Xboxtravis
That swooshing GIF; laughing out loud! I like the design of this Tie fighter a lot, but since I already own 2012 model I don't have a big urge to get this new one. The difference between the 2012 and the 2015 Tie's is not nearly as pronounced as the difference between my 1999 X-wing and the newer sets. Quote All aboard the hype train! Based Goomy
I'll probably get this set in the new year. The other Star Wars VII sets are fantastic! Quote Looking for a Voya Gold Kraahkan!
Toa Smoke Monster
That is a really cool TIE Fighter! The build looks great, and red line matches well with the rest of it IMO. I probably will be passing on it for now though, since I have other sets I want to get instead. Thanks for the review! Petewa
Apon first seeing this set, I thought it a normal TIE fighter with a red stripe, and that since my TIE fighter already has an orange stripe, I wouldn't be buying it. My opinion remains. Quote Mataru Nui, an Interactive Adventure
Wazdakka
I feel like you should at least comment on the exorbitant prices of the new sets. Quote Steam Name: Toa Hahli Mahri. Ta-metru_defender
I feel like you should at least comment on the exorbitant prices of the new sets. I bought it on sale on Amazon which lowered the price nicely. A a few gift cards from odd jobs helped bring the price down further, so I didn't spend too much on it. That said, the TIE's a hefty set and while I wouldn't say it's a $70 set, it's definitely worth $60 (which is still more than I paid, though). With Star Wars sets you're not buying it so much for the minifigs but for the vehicle, and the two TFA sets I have (Rey's Speeder, this one) both earn their keep (compared to many Marvel vehicles). It's sitting on a shelf in my apartment looking all majestic. Star Wars is my first love. This TIE Fighter's color scheme is kinda my favorite. So all that said, it's worth the price of admission for me on many different levels, though I don't think I'd have paid $70 for it. Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva)
I find the Top Gun reference odd, since I'm pretty sure the tubes are standard in a bunch of things, including the OT and real life. Also, I personally prefer the look of the other TIE in the comparison picture better. :/ Quote It is not for us to decide the fate of angels. Not to mention the evil, intimidating musical theme whenever non-US fighters showed up and the epic, all-american rock music theme that poped up whenever Cruise did something epic. Ford
I really like the look of this set! It nails the shape and looks as spot-on as you can get to the movie material. I'd love to get it, but the price is just horrendous. I'd like to wait and see if it hopefully gets a clearance at a store or a reduced price anywhere before getting it, because at the current price point I'd much rather get the new X-Wing!
