Xboxtravis Posted January 19, 2016 Share Posted January 19, 2016 Hoping someday Bonkle nostalgia runs high and Lego releases a box set of the Chapter Books and Serials with new cover art and an appendix by Greg with the unfinished serials. I figure this will also happen in 2030 when Bionicle: Arrival at Mata Nui is released as a feature film I am also hoping for the moment G2 is canceled, and these message boards are ran over in "Bring Bonkle Back!" messages before the release of G3. G3 will then be derided as simplistic, and criticized for its use of "CCBS Mark 2" with clashing textures. In the interlude between G2 and G3 I'll be able to spend my money on modular buildings, since chasing down every Toa will no longer be burning a hole in my pocket. I'd like to see it expand and really gain a larger place with a really solid, complex and fleshed out story without being convoluted or unfocused (love ya G1 lol). I'd like to see it tap into far more mediums and allow for some really creative and different story telling and ways of presenting it. Bionicle is already somewhat tapping into this with the new Netflix show but I'd like to see so much more. Bionicle just has a special place in my heart and something about it and its core is really, really special. But this is just fantasizing. What do I see really happening? Hammer flush play set. Done, sold, toy of the year. Watch that jazz fly right off the shelves like fresh hot cakes. Kids will be fighting and tearing each other apart to get them. Lines from Lego stores and Toys R Us' going around blocks. Economic turmoil and collapse after the sudden surge in demand that simply cannot be physically met by Lego's production speeds. And as they desperately try to meet the sudden new demand for Hammer Flush Playsets the world will be purged with a new great recession and then depression. Stock markets crash as people desperately rush to invest in Lego, only to find that all the banks have been sucked clean of cash. Oh, and aliens. Yes but if you have been reading Brickset's main page or any financial article recently the investment market is looking to invest in the sets themselves; since some Lego sets appreciate value faster than gold (sometimes). This type of investment market will increase scalpers in the Lego community, cause a general price hike, and make it harder for Lego fans to buy old sets. And also, although this likely will never happen, let alone during G2, I would like to see the return of transflouresent blue (trans medium blue? Something like that) in the form of shells to eventually replace the trans light blue. Granted, the current color is great, but I'd like it to eventually be replaced to give some more variety over the years. And last, but not least, I'd really like some normal green shells. I'm tired of having to exclusively use parts from 2003 and earlier if I want to use that color. If any of the above come out, I will almost certainly get it. Eh, I'm one of those dudes who wants a complex storyline and pieces that have more diversity. CCBS doesn't have much variety right now, and new pieces could probably spice it up a heck of a ton more. My main fear is that Lego isn't going to go with that path and instead just go for 'simple story to justify toys'. On a more hopeful note, I look forward to seeing if they come up with anything like the elemental beasts again. To me, they're the best thing out of G2. Alyska Posted January 23, 2016 Share Posted January 23, 2016 I want to see more G1 characters return in some form for G2. More characterisation of the villagers would be nice too. Long term- I want Lego to one day release a big beautiful coffee table book called "The Art of Bionicle" with loads of concept art, and early character designs, and some info about the process of building the setting and story over the years - think along the lines of the ones they put out for the Pixar films. The amount of work they put in- it deserves better than to be scattered in fragments around the internet. I want the current generation to last around five or so years, with a new continuity popping up every few years after that ala Transformers.
