Hapori Tohu
During the Collector's Party LEGO is putting on at Toy Fair this morning, they have unveiled the latest Star Wars Ultimate Collector's Series set. Coming from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, 75098 Assault on Hoth will help you recreate the action-packed scene from the beginning of the film. The set contains 2,144 pieces, will retail for $249.99 in the US, and is being released on April 30th, just in time for May the Fourth! It's a huge set with a ton of play features, minifigures, and structures to capture all the excitement and adventure you remember. To see images, the press release, and designer video, just read on! Storm Verse
I'm assuming including an accurate AT-AT would have doubled the price of the set. Quote Currently entering Phase One, with 3% chance of complete personality breakdown.
Reya
Probably the worst UCS set Lego has ever made. I am not sure how Ewok Village is not UCS while this is.
Lyichir
Probably the worst UCS set Lego has ever made. I am not sure how Ewok Village is not UCS while this is. The answer is that Lego made the decision to classify all large D2C Star Wars sets as UCS in 2014, a year AFTER the release of the Ewok Village. If the Ewok Village were released today it would get the UCS branding as well. VahiHolder02
This is a cool set, but I can't help but feel that Lego has already stretched Hoth to its brink. I already have most of the components for this set, between all the battle packs and re-releases of the last five-six years. The main problem with this set is that Lego has already pretty much created the 'best' versions of this set. The Wampa is the same as the one in 8089, the base is kind of a watered down 7879, and 8083-4 take care of the Imperial and Rebel troops. The only new thing I see here not released previously is that big sphere-cannon. I know most of these sets aren't that recent, and new fans need access to these sets, but I feel like purchasing this thing would be redundant for a lot of older collectors. Toa Smoke Monster
This looks like a neat enough Star Wars set. I probably won't be getting it, as I'd rather get other sets instead. But this still looks neat. Quote Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story.
evil_jaga_genius
I like the satellite-dish turret design. I wonder how well it actually fires, though. Quote Avatar by Nicholas Anderson (NickonAquaMagna)My blog: The Jaga's Nest

If the Ewok Village were released today it would get the UCS branding as well. Makes sense. That kind of waters down the whole UCS feel which I would have more commonly associated to the big display models that most have us have become accustomed to. I think it's fair to classify both EV and the Death Star as UCS if this makes the grade.
Xan
Do we really need more Hoth sets? These could have easily been sold as separate sets and the price is ludicrous. It would be fine if it was cheaper and wasn't labelled a UCS. The minifigs are nice though, but I think I may pass on this and save for other stuff. Ta-metru_defender
Toryn Farr, huh? All we need now is Aunt Beru and we have a minifig of every speaking female character in the Original Trilogy. Ballom Nom Nom
I'm a bit disappointed that the launcher was shoehorned onto the ion cannon; it looks a lot less interesting as a result. Rather than it properly tapering to a tip it's instead a sphere with a rectangular part jutting out. ~B~
