Probably the worst UCS set Lego has ever made.

I am not sure how Ewok Village is not UCS while this is.

The answer is that Lego made the decision to classify all large D2C Star Wars sets as UCS in 2014, a year AFTER the release of the Ewok Village. If the Ewok Village were released today it would get the UCS branding as well.

This is a cool set, but I can't help but feel that Lego has already stretched Hoth to its brink. I already have most of the components for this set, between all the battle packs and re-releases of the last five-six years.

The main problem with this set is that Lego has already pretty much created the 'best' versions of this set. The Wampa is the same as the one in 8089, the base is kind of a watered down 7879, and 8083-4 take care of the Imperial and Rebel troops. The only new thing I see here not released previously is that big sphere-cannon. I know most of these sets aren't that recent, and new fans need access to these sets, but I feel like purchasing this thing would be redundant for a lot of older collectors.

Makes sense. That kind of waters down the whole UCS feel which I would have more commonly associated to the big display models that most have us have become accustomed to.

I think it's fair to classify both EV and the Death Star as UCS if this makes the grade.

Do we really need more Hoth sets? These could have easily been sold as separate sets and the price is ludicrous. It would be fine if it was cheaper and wasn't labelled a UCS.

The minifigs are nice though, but I think I may pass on this and save for other stuff.
