White 'n Orange Robot

Recommended Posts

Noticed how orange and white were rarely used as a colour scheme in official sets. I wanted to see it'd look to have a combination of these two. Like most of my other bipedal creations, I wanted to stick to an inika built but with custom limbs. This time I even wanted to customise the lower legs and arms. Quickly noticed that doing so would be slightly difficult though. I left it at using simple double ball-joint limbs for the lower legs and arms, but with added decorations.

Soon I noticed that one leg standing up straight was already the same size as my at-the-time-not-yet-disassembled 2006 toa matoro. Then I realised a torso fitting these long limbs would need to be big. Having no experience building custom torsos of such size I decided to go with a T-shaped body, the vertical and horizontal lines actually being simple bars with holes in them. This is when I discovered a very nice use of those big chunky bent limb parts from the 2008-matoran and 2009 agori sets. They're great for covering up empty spaces, as their ball-joints allow them to bend to fit any empty space an cover it. I used this to cover the front of the torso.

I kinda went overboard with the weapons though. Whereas the lance, it's supposed to represent one at least, can still be held up when placing it carefully, the shield is simply far too heavy to be held up. Even with the, in my opinion big feet I gave it, it has some major trouble not tumbling over, or having the shield point entirely downward. I tried stabilising it some more by adding pistons to where the legs connect to the torso as well. I wanted to give the arms the same treatment, but they just don't connect to the torso vertically like the legs do.

Also, inadvertently a number of pieces have these oriental symbols on them, they come from exo-force sets. I like how they're not limited to just a few places.
