Unexpected Pieces at Lego Conventions or Events?

Have you guys ever seen pieces that you would not expect to see at Lego Conventions or Events? Today, I visited an event called the Brickman Experience, which was a collection of Lego sculptures. There was a section of the area dedicated to the young kids so they could play with the leo pieces & put them on display. In one of the parts bins, I saw this piece

I'm just posting to see if anyone else has found Lego pieces from older sets lying around at Lego themed events or conventions.

I have never gone to one of those Lego events cause there's simply none at where i live gosh there's not even a Lego store to be found here now what your'e saying i guess as it is a Fan Made activity they must have some old pieces of past conventions that where never used or they simply buy Lego pieces in bulk now i did have an experience of finding a old mini figure pieces in the mini figure bin at the Lego Store in Down Town Disney.

I'm just a simple man, trying to make my way in the Matoran Universe

I got this cool brick from Legoland Discovery Center in Illinois with some engraving and printing. Going on my brick badge as soon as I get a brick badge. :P

That sounds pretty cool, I'd like to see pics of it.

I have seen some, but the piece you saw, I have about 30 of them in my MOCing pieces along with the ones that are built in the actual throwbots and roboriders sets, its actually a pretty useful piece for MOCing, I have it in 3 colours I think, don't have my pieces out right now so I can't recall exactly, I definitely know there are Yellow and old Dark Grey tho.
