In addition to opening up a factory in the country, their parent group the LEGO Foundation is working with a Chinese university to study the interactions of learning and play. They also stated that they are trying to include more Asian characters and settings in their products and are looking into other ways to reach the market. Clearly their approach has already been working - the article states that LEGO saw double-digit sales growth in China in 2015.
