That really depends on what your goal is, TTL. Are you going for a lower, stronger sound or a higher, more energetic sound? Both can sound really smooth, but what music your playing makes a difference, obviously. If you're planning on playing something like a clarinet later on, go for the soprano; if you're planner on playing a deeper woodwind, however, go with the baritone. Also, I've heard that the soprano can be a bit trickier to tackle. You decide.

Hey to all saxophonist on BZPower.

Do you think a soprano saxophone is a good next step instrument or is a Bari saxophone.

I play alto now.

Your opinions.

Ey, I'm an alto player myself.

If your planning on going to clarinet, you might just go with bari then because soprano and clarinet are in the same key. If what you're looking for is variety, at least.

  • 2 weeks later...

I remember back in middle school, a couple guys from school came up to me and said they wanted me in their band (I could play piano, and I just started learning violin).  My mom told me that I am free to join them, as long as I am certain they are good guys. In retrospect I think she was confusing "band" with" gang".

Not once did we ever meet for a rehearsal. Not. Once.

Maybe they met without me or something, maybe they never did. I may never know.

Since then I picked up the guitar as well. I also like to play around with my Harmonica.

I also took a music major in high-school. Hardest. Subject. Ever.

Say do any of you guys give names to your instruments? All my friends do.

I named my:

Violin - Ari

Bow- Millie

Guitar- Big Mac

Harmonica - Bob

Kazoo - Sylvester
