70596 Samurai X Cave Chaos Pictures Released on Amazon.co.jp

When the summer 2016 LEGO Ninjago sets were unveiled at New York Toy Fair, the largest set of the year—70596 Samurai X Cave Chaos—was conspicuously absent. Today, Amazon.co.jp released the first official pictures of this set, and it's a sight to behold! Clocking in at 1253 pieces and a cost of $119.99 USD/$149.99 CAD, the set depicts Nya's secret hideout as seen in LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu season three onwards, along with two fliers, a bike, a mech, eight minifigures, and a droid. Well I am extremely excited for this set!

Looks like I will be dropping a lot of money in this next wave, three sets have a value of $100 AUD or more, oh gosh I will be spending nearly $600 on this next Ninjago wave but I am keen!!!

This set contains one of Kopaka 2015's shield pieces. Even though the price is already way too much for me, the fact that I would have an odd number of that piece would annoy me forever. I will not be buying this set, but I like how the designers are trying to use the Bionicle parts for others.

Seems like a great design, very accurate to the show, looks like lots of fun.  Still not sold on the figs tho.

For a Samurai X cave, it seems to have a distinct lack of Samurai X.

Nya appears in the set in her new ninja outfit, and the latest version of her Samurai X armor appears in the cave right underneath the crossed gold swords if you want to change her into it.

 

Sorry if I just spoiled Samurai X's identity for you but it hasn't really been a secret in at least four and a half seasons.

For a Samurai X cave, it seems to have a distinct lack of Samurai X.

Nya is there, and the Samurai X armor is on display over on the right wall. It shouldn't be that hard to change Nya into it, though it might not be quite as impressive as a dedicated fig. This is the only one of the summer sets seen so far to include Nya in the new "throwback" uniform based on the 2011 Ninja costumes (her other appearance, in the set with Ronin's mech uses the costume from the Skybound wave), so I personally prefer getting her in her ninja gear and having the armor as optional accessories.

I was more talking about the mech than Nya herself. There is A mech of sorts there but I was thinking more along the lines of this.

In Possession episode 4 a slightly downsized version of the original Samurai mech was shown in said Samurai X Cave, so maybe that could've been included? Would be good for people getting this that don't have the mech set from 2012

You probably couldn't fit a mech much bigger than the one in the set into the cave itself. And technically, the original Samurai Mech was stolen by the ghosts last year and turned into the Mechenstein, so it wouldn't necessarily make sense for it to be included here. I think the small one that's included is pretty neat, and I particularly like the little elevator that allows the pilot to board.
