@Vestak: I was also going to mention you separating weapons and abilities into two separate parts, but a lot of people do that and it doesn't bother me at all so I'm very happy for you to leave it as is. As for getting rid of things... I'm not entirely sure. Some of the weapons, definitely; he's got a lot of powers, and they're pretty cool, so the weapons feel like they'd be easiest to do without without changing the character too much. Maybe the ability to make spikes out of himself (that's what I meant by summoning weapons)? I read that as he can fire metal spikes as projectiles the first time around, which sounds like something that would cause him to run out of metal pretty quickly, but on reflection that could have just meant he can just extend spikes from himself, which is better. I'd also specify that the shapeshifting wouldn't change his armour colours- unless it does, of course. Sorry about the vagueness, a lot of his powers make sense for his metal skin thingy, so I don't wanna mess with it too much, and honestly it's your character so you might be attached to some things more than others so I don't want to accidentally make you remove the stuff you like the most. I'd recommend just tossing some of the weapons- I remember there being one big rocket, which I'd personally get rid of purely because carrying an explosive in your chest cavity sounds like a bad idea at the best of times.

As an unrelated to approvals aside: how fast can he shift his metal around?

I can get rid of the missile.  I saw that as a last resort kind of thing, but it's probably the thing I'm least attached to.

He can shift his metal fairly quickly.  His most common forms take almost no time at all, a few seconds at most.  If he has a picture or a replica to look at, it will take a bit longer, say 10 to 15 seconds depending on complexity.  If he's making it up on the spot, it'd be around 45 seconds, increasing dramatically with complexity.

He actually can change color, although it's very limited.  His metal exists in three colors; silver, metalic green, and gunmetal. Changing to one solid color doesn't take very long.  If he wants more than one color, say as highlights, logos, etc, it takes a lot longer.

I'll go edit this into his profile.

If it's anything less than a bunch of squids trying to be rival crime fighters to Hero Factory and their various misadventures and making up for their flip-floppiness on land with pure heart then I'm going to be very disappointed.

The Heroes can't even be mad, they're too endearing. Some even make a point to scoop up their tiny wobbly floppy bodies and carry them over to the nearest water source after the Heroes have stepped over them and fought the villain. They just try so hard.

Dang, now I want this Squid Crimefighting League.

Hey, peeps, just a heads up that I'm heading out of town for the rest of the week. I'm bringing my laptop with me, but there's no guarantee that I'll be able to get it to connect with the wi-fi there (and I hate posting via phone). We'll see how that goes, but just in case, I'll see you all Sunday!

Aight I completely forgot to reply to Vestak and approve Cor's profiles so here we go

Cor's profiles are all approved (3/3). At first I was gonna question Helen getting promoted from Call Centre to Mission Manager, but:

1. The promotion can make sense, since she could have been gunning for Mission Manager and training for it on the side

2. I mean, they did a similar thing in Monsters Inc., so

3. It's Helen

@Vestak: Shapeshifting is a very tricky power because it is so, so easy to abuse, and high-quality shapeshifting is a pretty powerful ability. On top of that, he has a shifting metal exterior, healing abilities (limited, but there), and is carrying around a small arsenal of weapons. However, in light of his weaknesses, I'm going to say approved (3/3), so long as you keep in mind the limitations set by the profile, such as:

- He can only shapeshift thin/small enough to a form that keeps his weapons hidden, meaning he would have to have decently large disguises

- He would have to also be thick/large enough to see to it he had enough liquid metal to do all the things he does, such as making spikes and junk

- He can't shapeshift his hands and feet to look different, as they're not covered by the metal (according to the profile)

- His supply of metal is not endless

- Scanners, as you've mentioned, would clearly and easily pick up weapons. Additionally, any scan would be able to see through his disguise, following the same logic.

Man, that looks like a lot to remember. What it boils down to is, just remember the standard I've been telling a lot of people here as a general thing: make sure to play the character fairly and go by what's put in the profile! He's got quite a few easily abusable powers, despite the above, so you don't want to accidentally play him as OP. Other than that, have fun! :D

Here's all the rest of my character profiles, fresh off the Microsoft Word. I'll do the Quark Qruiser next, I think that's the only ship I have.

~

Name: Mara Quiver

Character Type: Hero

Abilities/Equipment:

-          Quiver’s specialised as a sharpshooter, with all the highly sensitive sensors and pinpoint accuracy it entails. If everything is quiet and still, she is incredible with long-distance weaponry. However, as a rookie and having a very nervous personality, she is easily startled because of her incredibly acute sensors, and as such her accuracy can be affected in noisy or stressful situations.

-          Her senses are incredibly acute and strong. She can focus and increase the strength of her senses further, but the stronger they are, the easier it is to startle her. She’s extremely uncomfortable and paranoid about setting her senses to a normal level and she’s not able to do it well yet anyway, so her default setting is typically rather high.

-          Ken Render has been teaching her some coding, which she’s taken a liking to and has some knowledge on.

-          Quiver carries a long-distance laser rifle with her name carved into the butt of it. She has a smaller blaster for more close-range combat.

Appearance: Quiver is small and often stands in a slouch, drawn into herself. Her colours are dull greys and greens, which she is fond of, but her Hero Core and eyes are a very vivid, eye-catching red, much to her disappointment. She is very lean, made for long-distance striking more than up-close confrontations. Here's a mouse-drawn MSPaint picture of her, and yes I need a proper picture of her too.

Bio: Quiver, the rookie of Quark’s team, joined the team relatively recently, after some time of no team wanting to take her in. Thumper and Flood befriended her and convinced Quark to allow her to join the team. She's very grateful to her team and her friends for taking her in, and tries her best not to let them down.

Quiver is very shy and jumpy. Her ultra-tuned sensors work against her in that way; while she can feel the breeze shift ever so slightly and plan her shot accordingly, she will also be startled by loud noises in her vicinity and sometimes even by the sound of her own gun. She is constantly anxious that she will be kicked out of Hero Factory for her self-perceived cowardice, though she genuinely loves helping people and being a Hero. She seeks to improve herself any way she can, and looks up to her teammates- they are some of the few people she feels comfortable around.

She is trained for non-lethal shots, and greatly prefers them over the alternative. Outside of Hero business, she takes great delight in painting miniature figures- since she has very steady hands and there is no one shooting at her, she's quite good at it. She enters competitions with them, and plays tournaments with them sometimes- but only if she has a friend with her.

Name: Ken Render

Character Type: Hero

Abilities/Equipment:

-          Render specialises in demolition, bomb disposal, and any task that involves physically taking things apart and/or putting them back together again. This makes him a skilled repairman as well as a bomb expert.

-          His intimate knowledge of bombs means he could build them if he wanted; however, he only feels comfortable doing so if he is assured there will be no casualties caused by the explosion, or no risk of fatal injury at the very least and when pressured to in an extreme emergency. His demolition expertise means he knows how to set off bombs safely.

-          He has some minor experience in coding, meaning that though he’s not on par with the high-tier hacker Heroes of Hero Factory, he can do some simple stuff of his own.

-          Render carries a laser blaster that looks like an old revolver, which has a holster on his hip. He also carries equipment for his specialisation- the tools required for taking apart electronics and machinery, and some rudimentary explosives for bigger targets such as walls.

Appearance: Render is fairly wiry, for getting into cramped places or other areas bulkier-armoured Heroes would not be able to fit in easily. He does have an alternate, bulkier set of plating ready in the Refitting Tower for bomb disposal missions, but more often than not he’s thinner-plated. If the bomb situation is extremely urgent, he’ll often forego refitting entirely. He used to have a cool cowboy hat, but it was eaten by a sand worm on a mission a while ago and no other hat has been able to fill the void.
His core and eyes are blue, and he is plated in brown and white shades. He’s often wearing a wistful expression, and often chews wires the way one would chew a stalk of wheat. I don't have a terrible MSPaint rendition of him yet but basically he’s the Woody to Quark’s Buzz Lightyear.

Bio: Some people call him the Space Cowboy. Way back when, as a rookie, Render was put under the tutelage of Dorothy Quark, who was by then well-established as a skilled Hero, if a little stern. They and a third Hero formed an excellent team, often working space missions and excelling brilliantly, and stayed as a team for many years, occasionally taking rookies and passing them to other teams as they grew better at their Hero duties and found a niche they could fit into elsewhere.
Finally, after an incident which ended in the demise of two rookies and the third member of their team, both remaining Heroes were hit hard. Render, though he embraces that what happened was not anyone’s fault, still cannot help but blame himself. There is some self-imposed tension between he and Quark because of this, as he feels she must blame him for the incident.
Render is otherwise a laid-back, friendly Hero, and will always lend a hand to someone in need. He has a weakness for Wild West movies, and will occasionally help out in the ship repair bay in his free time, fixing up ships, or working on consoles around the place.

Name: Dorothy Quark

Character Type: Hero

Abilities/Equipment:

-          Quark can survive in the cold vacuum of space indefinitely, unlike most Heroes. She has some resistance to high and low temperatures, and other stressful conditions. However, this does not extend to, say, flying into the sun. Her armour’s thick and heavy because of this, which makes her slower in normal gravity.

-          She’s been highly trained in just about any space-oriented skill, from flying spacecraft to zero-gravity fighting. Her decades of experience mean she’s rather used to fighting in normal gravity, too, but her natural element is space, and deeply prefers it.

-          Quark has extendable wings built into her armour, along with jets in her boots. While neither of these let her fly in normal gravity- she’s more likely to fall with style- they allow her to manoeuvre more easily in space. Her boots and hands are also modified to allow her to walk on and grip surfaces in space- these aren’t permanently on, for obvious reasons.

-          She carries a laser blaster which is as functional in space as she is. She also has a light sword- it’s basically a blade that functions as an ordinary sword, but is made up of solid light. It’s a science-fictioney kind of sword, but it doesn’t have anything special about it. But it can turn on and off, and the blade tends to have a good bit of force when materialising. (This joke was in the old profile before everyone else got a light saber but the joke still makes me laugh)

-          Her glare is incredible, as is her voice. It’s a well-known rumour among the younger members of the Hero Factory that she can see a rookie goofing off from half a galaxy away, and her stern “JUST WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING” call can be heard within a distance of two galaxies. Her Space Mum powers are absolute, honed since the very beginning of Hero Factory.

-          Powerful eyebrows. Cannot be swayed by romantic interests.

Appearance: I don’t have an MSPaint picture but this is pretty close. Quark is slightly bulkier than the average Hero due to her extra armour plating to protect from the harsh environment of space. This plating covers her Hero Core- though the ‘H’ is etched into her armour, and the plating is removable for charging and such- but does not extend in that thickness to her face and head. Her armour has a retractable, reinforced, transparent dome that can click over her head in a manner reminiscent of an astronaut’s helmet.

Her armour is shaded in white and bright green, with purple eyes and Hero Core (the Buzz Lightyear comparisons never end). She often looks surly and somewhat tired of things in general, and it is rare to see a smile upon her face. Her eyebrows- always angry- are magnificent.

Bio: Quark was created back in the very, very early days of Hero Factory; while not created on Alpha Team, she was made shortly after, and soon proved herself a very capable Hero. She and three other Heroes- Stormer, Wolfe, and Plume- were and continue to be friends, striking up a camaraderie and sharing their awkward terrible rookie years together. She’s considered very skilled, and has served the Hero Factory and the galaxy at large for roughly a hundred years.

She was once comparatively more chipper about her job, but an incident involving her team losing a veteran Hero and the team’s entire group of rookies has impacted her immensely. She had been the one to order the veteran Hero to leave the rookies be, as the situation had left them in a position where they could not be saved, but the veteran tried to rescue them anyway. As a result, they were killed, and Quark felt it was her responsibility to have done something to prevent it- but she couldn't, and for that she felt that she could not be put in charge of a full team again.

When she and the remaining member of her team- another veteran- eventually had new rookies join their ranks, she did not trust herself to defend them on missions anymore. As a result, their team rarely operated as a whole, instead the specialised Heroes being sent with more experienced teams requiring their particular skill set, deciding that they would be better at protecting the rookies than she would be. Quark, however, continues to train her team as rigorously as a high-ranking team’s leader would, determined they would be able to handle themselves if the need arose. Nowadays, she is beginning to trust herself with their care once more, though she does tend to ‘baby’ them a little sometimes- especially the rookie of the team, Quiver.

She may be rough and abrasive, but she has a real soft spot for her team. She cares deeply for their wellbeing and her ire is usually well-meaning if they have worried her. If anyone else tries to seriously threaten her rookies, though, she is ruthless.

Her days are spent training, working missions, or reading. She’s a fan of works of science fiction, and in her dark, embarrassing rookie past, she was openly a massive sci-fi dork. Now she hides it deep within her stony heart.

~

Name: Timothy (Tim) Gyro

Character Type: Hero

Abilities/Equipment:

-          Gyro has a big propeller on his back, and it’s very strong- he can easily take a Hero’s weight on it. He can fly with ease and skill, and the blades are resilient enough to allow him to strike with them. He can also do an awesome headspin.

-          Gyro is stronger than the average Hero, though not to the point of, say, Bulk or Thumper.

-          He’s quicker than what you’d expect, especially when flying. But, again, not to the level where it’d be considered any kind of superpower.

-          He has a standard Hero Factory issued laser blaster. His blades function as his melee weapon, and he also is proficient at fighting bare-handed.

Appearance: Gyro bears a passing resemblance to a certain helicopter-bladed villain. Unlike said villain, he doesn't slouch unless he has to activate his blades, to avoid the risk of walloping himself in the head with them. His blades also fold down in addition to tilting, for ease of getting in and out of doorways. Physically, he’s a little larger than the average Hero. He's very chipper normally and it shows, but if in a bad mood, he tends to slouch and grumble a lot. His dental plates have a gap in front.

Can you tell I lost all patience with the drawing program?

Bio: At some point in time, a technician who aided in the design of new Heroes started pondering about a villain named Rotor. Having seen the guy on the news once or twice, they wondered how such a large, brutish villain was so skilled at flying, especially with something as rudimentary as a propeller on his back. After a while, this curiosity seemed to have gotten the better of them, and armed with this and a genuine belief that what they were doing would help the Hero Factory's cause, they put their plan into action.

Rumours about how exactly the technician got hold of Rotor's code go from the technician offering to do a bug check and secretly taking a copy, to taking it by force while Rotor was serving his jail term at the Hero Factory. However it happened, they were able to intertwine portions of Rotor’s code with the coding of a Hero- Timothy Gyro, who was then built as any other rookie Hero was, no one the wiser, though some found the technician’s choice for armour design odd.

Other technicians were quick to notice something was wrong. Gyro was going through what seemed to be withdrawal symptoms, and pleaded with them to check and recheck his frame, as he felt he was missing some vital component. When no physical reason for the distress came about, they finally checked his code. The culprit was soon caught and arrested, and Gyro was fitted with spinning blades on his back, which remedied the issue. Fixing the code was deemed impossible, as Gyro’s self was too ingrained with both elements of his code to have a code repair be considered moral.

Despite containing villain coding, Gyro is very happy and proud to be a Hero, though he might try too hard to prove to others (and himself) that there is nothing wrong with him, and keeps his worries and concerns largely to himself. He likes a good joke and loves to fly. However, if kept from flying for an extended period of time, he begins to exhibit withdrawal symptoms, and he becomes meaner and a lot more irritable. On one occasion, when his blades had to be all but rebuilt after a particularly rough mission, he started a fight with another Hero. Some Heroes distrust him, either because of this behaviour, or because of the origins of his coding. He has never met Rotor, but privately has mixed feelings about the concept of an encounter.

After the events of the Mechna, Gyro was transferred from his team into an all-flying team under Andrea Plume. He is much happier with the development- he refuses to talk about why.

Name: “Morbid” Mona Silphi

Character Type: Civilian

Abilities/Equipment:

-          Silphi has a keen knowledge of forensics and invertebrate zoology. She also has the means to analyse evidence brought to her from crime scenes, or provide analysis of video and photographs sent to her.

-          She has access to all Hero Factory databases and to Hero communications.

-          In the field, Silphi carries tools for taking trace evidence samples and simple chemical tests, along with a carrier case for interesting invertebrate specimens.

Appearance: I don’t have a picture yet, but I can give a visual description. She is plated in white and light blues, and wears a labcoat to prevent chemical staining. She will often wear badges on this coat, usually of various insects, though she has been spotted sporting the Hero Factory logo, a smiley face, and other such normalities alongside anatomically accurate Meroxian ants and Yurokian death beetles. She appears somewhat tired.

Bio: Sometimes, there will be a crime that requires analysis of recovered evidence in Makuhero City. Sometimes, on a planet with suspicions of a corrupt government or police, sending evidence to such a place for analysis would run a high risk of tampering or worse. Sometimes, Heroes may be investigating on a planet with no police equivalent in sight. Or, sometimes, other planets may need a place to send data for analysis because their own forensics department is nonexistent or too small or not advanced enough to handle such a request.
This is where Mona Silphi and the Hero Factory Forensics Department come in. Silphi herself is a jack of all trades in terms of forensic techniques, and is one of the few who cared to study both mechanical and organic forensics. Despite popular belief, forensics is not all about murders- Silphi can also handle fingerprint analysis, chemical analysis, paint chip matching, alloy matching, pretty much any data a crime scene can throw her way.
Silphi is a little eerie and takes a lot of joy in her work. Most people agree that she is too into forensic entomology for the interest to be anything below unsettling. She’s very keen to help, but will absolutely drop everything she is currently tasked with if asked to analyse native insects or identify a beetle found in a suspicious place. Nevertheless, she has a sharp mind and a helpful soul behind her creepy smile and blunt demeanour.

There was a typo found on her files recently, misspelling her last name as ‘Selphi’. She has since had it corrected.

Name: Orukam Amayika

Character Type: Villain Civilian

Abilities/Equipment:

-          Amayika has undergone many, many modifications, to the point where he looks exactly like inventor extraordinaire and Hero Factory founder Akiyama Makuro. Even his inner circuitry closely mirrors Makuro’s.

-          He has what’s colloquially known as an actor’s box- a device installed in the vocal module that allows for other voices to be installed on the module. As the name suggests, they are popular with actors for playing roles that require a different tone of voice or accent. Only two are currently installed on Amayika’s- his own natural voice, and Makuro’s.

-          He knows how to use a blaster, but prefers to flee from a fight.

Appearance: Looks exactly like Akiyama Makuro.

Bio: Amayika was an actor, a very long time ago. He attempted to get a part as- you guessed it- Makuro, in a pretty prolific movie, but was rejected for not looking enough like the robot in question. Amayika has always been a touch too dramatic, and so vowed to become so much like the millionaire inventor that they’d have to hire him. By the time he decided he looked close enough, however, they had already filmed the movie- they simply asked Makuro to play himself. Angered by Makuro stealing his part, Amayika found his own petty form of revenge- dedicating his life to making Makuro look like a fool.

Since he’s not paid all that much on his revenge scheme, he worked part-time performing at various Villain hangouts. They thought he was a hoot, and he got by pretty well. During the Antropolis mission, a favour to a fan went very awry, and he ended up arrested by Hero Factory. He had no immediate warrant out for his arrest, having previously served his time for his last bout of charges, and his crimes were relatively minor. Merric Fortis, leader of Hero Recon Team, saw a lot of worth in such a high quality duplicate of Makuro, and so Amayika was offered an alternative to prison: serving as a secret body double. Amayika refused. Fortis insisted. Amayika edged for the door, suddenly remembering that he’d left the stove on at home. Fortis reminded him he was still technically under arrest.

Fortis eventually won out, somehow, and Amayika is currently kept in a secret facility, undergoing advanced training to make his acting even more accurate to the real thing. He’s not exactly happy about this arrangement at all, but he’s complying. His record as a villain now behind him, he’s trying to make the best of being cooped up inside and studying to risk his life for the guy he’d dedicated his life to making a mockery of. Fortis must have offered him something really good.
Amayika is very overdramatic and self-absorbed when not acting his part, often jumping to conclusions and getting frustrated and emotional at a moment’s notice. He still dislikes Makuro, but seems slightly embarrassed by the thought of seeing him face-to-face. He feels like the whole revenge scheme could be a bit awkward to explain, and he admits it began for a pretty petty reason.

I'm not seeing anything wrong with those, so Quiver, Render, Quark, Gyro, Silphi, and Fakuro all Approved x2.

However, I might suggest that you try to fix up the formatting of the profiles themselves. The font seems to change size several times throughout the different profiles, which is kinda jarring to read.

Oh gosh darn it this happens every time I copy/paste from Word >:u Not to mention this was copied from BZP, to Word, back to BZP. I'll convert it to a far superior font as soon as I'm on a device that'll let me do that easily.

Also Gyro is a Huge Nerd, that is his greatest strength and biggest weakness

If it makes it easier, here's a list of all the profiles I just put up:

Mara Quiver, Ken Render, Dorothy Quark, "Morbid" Mona Silphi, Orukama Amayika ("Fakuro"), and Timothy Gyro

Also I fixed the font problem and set it to one that is much more pleasing to the eye

Three stealth and espionage based heroes. Two old, one new. Very new.

Name: Jimmy Abacus

Character Type: Hero

Abilities/Equipment:

Technopathy - Can access the hard code of any machine in close proximity to him. The closer he is to said machinery, the stronger his access to its code. He can then re-write, inspect, or even erase the code of the machine, something he has become quite proficient at through the years.

Speed and agility - Jimmy is very quick and agile, and is capable of dodging most attacks, which is very useful for someone with no real offensive capabilities.

Quick mind - Jimmy's processing power has been greatly increased to allow him to think faster, which comes to use when trying to tamper with something's code.

Equipment - Jimmy has a hacking kit which allows him to get direct access to any machinery when his powers prove to not be enough on their own. He can also use this kit to link directly to the hero-net, which gives him greater processing capabilities, allowing him to hack and process code faster than normal. He also has a simple multi-setting energy pistol, and a mandatory field kit used for self repair or repair of other field operatives.

Appearance: Jimmy is a bit shorter than other heroes, and very much so thinner, but this is a useful feature that allows him access to places bigger heroes normally wouldn't be able to access. His armour is a metallic black, with green light lines forming cyber patterns all over his body. He can shut the lights off when he needs to be stealthy. His eyes are a bright green.
Bio: Jimmy is currently a black-ops operative. He is undoubtedly one of the calmest heroes around, and is able to keep a level head in the most stressful of situations; something that comes to use when for example he's hacking a bomb's timer and there's only a few seconds left until it detonates. He is always calculating the best way to approach situations, and his enhanced processing power means he can do this very quickly, assessing situations from every angle and taking every variable into account before drawing a conclusion.

Name: Lilith Specter

Character Type: Hero

Abilities/Equipment:

Phasing: Lilith can phase through matter, thus making her intangible. How ever, she is vulnerable to energy weaponry while in this state, and even more so than normally due to the energy being able to pass through her entirely and damage internal systems where as normally her armour would protect her.

Invisibility: Lilith can become considerably transparent when she goes into phase mode.

Nimble: Lilith is quick and agile, which helps with her preferred style of close combat.

Stun batons: Lilith's close combat weapon of choice are two stun batons. These batons can knock out most opponents in only a few hits. They are connected to her powers, and phase through matter or light when she does.

Stun rifle: Lilith's long range projectile weapon of choice is a sniper rifle that fires powerful stun bolts. She is extremely efficient at using this weapon. The rifle has several settings that allow her to adjust the intensity of the stun. The rifle is not connected to her powers, and as such she needs to leave it behind when she phases through walls and the like.

Appearance: Lilith has dark grey and gunmetal armour with white light lines that form geometric patterns. She can turn these light lines off for stealth purposes. She is average in height, and quite slim. Her hero core and eyes glow in lilac.

Bio: Lilith was built as a well-rounded stealth hero, although she decided to do regular hero duties instead, thinking of herself as a support hero to those heroes that have a more direct approach. She is amiable, and not very confrontational, although enraging her (as seemingly futile as that can be) can lead to her revealing a disturbingly different side of herself. She despises those heroes that do not hesitate to kill others, viewing the taking of life as revolting and abhorrent.

Name: Baxter Richards

Character Type: Hero

Abilities/Equipment: Baxter has the ability to camouflage himself against most surfaces, simple or complex, to a very effective degree. On his back he has a drone which can detach and fly in the air and also camouflage itself. He can control and sees through this drone up to a several mile radius, although the connectivity will gradually worsen up to that point, until it simply drops off. Also, any materials or devices that can interfere with the signal he uses will shorten that distance greatly. When Baxter has the drone attached to his back, he can use it to give himself a jump boost The drone has a simple energy blaster built into it.

For equipment, Baxter carries a silent energy pistol as well as a short energy blade, both with multiple damage settings.

Appearance: Baxter has a very boring colour scheme of grey and brown, lending him a default colour scheme that can blend in with an urban environment. His eyes are a dull blue, although he can turn off their glow for added stealth. The drone is typically gunmetal when not camouflaged.

Bio: Baxter is relatively fresh out of the construction tower, having been built only days after it was made operational. Being built for stealth and espionage, he aspires to one day be chosen into the ranks of the Hero Recon division of the factory.

---

These three, plus Captor, are meant to be on a singular stealth-based team. How ever, since I'm not keen on having a team comprised only of my own characters, I'm formally extending an invitation to anyone interested with a stealth based character to have said character join the team.

Just wanted to clarify, I assume this doesn't extend to PCs - he can't just go reprogramming people's personalities without their permission or anything like that?

I'm holding off on Abacus for a bit to see how Nato weighs in.

Spectre seems to have more powers this time around? If not, it still seems iffy to me that a Hero has the power to be completely invisible, completely silent, and able to walk through walls, all while carrying weapons- some of which are silenced. It's a bit overpowered.

Richards is a bit problematic. For one- this isn't a strict rule, but Heroes seem to have a naming convention. A standard human first name- in canon they seem to use common Western names, but I personally don't think it'd be restricted to just that- and a last name that sounds techy/futuristic, or has something to do with the character, or something like that. Science fiction last names. Richards sounds like someone working in accounting, he's got such a weirdly normal last name for a Hero.

That's not as important, though. More important is that he's a rookie. We've already repeatedly stated that rookies would be incredibly inexperienced, having to do their introductory Hero training with limited training space and supplies. I've gotta get around to a FAQ explaining this stuff, but basically, Heroes are assumed to have gone through some kind of introductory training, from which their skill could be assessed so they can be offered to appropriate teams. In addition, Hero Recon Team doesn't just grab any rookies; they seem to take Heroes that fit their high standards. Rocka was taken on bizarrely early, but even then it was stated that he's done a lot of hardcore training and presumably performed exceedingly well. Richards, on the other hand, most likely hasn't even completed his standard training yet, and probably doesn't have the same access to hardcore stuff. He simply wouldn't be on Hero Recon Team.

Is his camouflage system automated? I feel like he'd probably be inexperienced with it if it's reliant on a conscious command. I'm less concerned about this, though- the main issue is the bio.

Okay then, Jimmy Abacus Approved x1.

Lilith seems very dubious to me. Super fast and agile, able to turn completely invisible, become completely silent, pass through solid objects, and wields weapons that could potentially paralyze/incapacitate other characters instantly. All of this, in addition to the fact that you're adding her to a team of heroes equipped with skills specifically tailored to aiding her already excessive arsenal, and I'm left with little choice but to say Not Approved. She needs to be toned down. A lot.

Most of Baxter's profile is fine, but as previously discussed off-site, and Zippy's said here, his backstory needs work. No one's going to let a rookie go straight into spec ops when they haven't proven themselves in the field. Heck, he's not even technically a rookie, since he hasn't even done any basic training yet.

Oh, whoops! I wasn't clear enough there. I'm not not approving him because of his name, that was just something I noticed. Don't worry, I wouldn't reject a character on a name basis. Even if they missed an opportunity for a really good pun, I'll let it go. With a warning. And a demand for a written apology.

I'm gonna play sheeple and say Abacus approved (2/3).

@Zippy: Fair enough. I'll modify it to have him simply be aspiring to join Hero Recon.

@Nato: This is literally how she was in the original rpg, and she was approved then. Just to clarify, she's not super fast or agile, she's just slightly more nimble compared to the average hero. She's also not completely silent, just mostly silent. How ever, I do agree now in hindsight that such a large array of assets can be a bit overpowered, so I was thinking that perhaps I could switch out the complete invisibility for considerable transparency which is directly linked to her phasing powers. Also I can probably drop her pistol, as having a rifle and batons is enough now that I think about it a few months later.

EDIT: I've edited Baxter's profile as mentioned above. Also, I've toned Lilith's invisibility down to transparency, and removed her silenced stun pistol, as well as make it so that her rifle can't phase with her, forcing her to leave it behind when she phases.

Jimmy Abacus 3/3, but I'll be keeping an eye on that telepathy.

Lilith Specter (tentatively) Approved 1/3

She definitely still has potential to be played unfairly, but if you stay within the confines of the profile, she should be fine.

Maybe

Baxter Richards(?) Also Approved 1/3.

Finally, Rylinth- would you mind going through my formidable wall of profiles sometime? If not that's fine (it's pretty big and lengthy), it's just that otherwise I have to wait til Cor gets back.

Hmm... that's a tough one. :/ I think the easiest approach to clarifying transparency might be to find materials with varying levels of transparency and finding which one fits your character (i.e. water, wine glasses, mason jars, anything transparent/translucent). Another way to do it could be to try and understand the mathematics of using a laser to accurately measure the transparency of a material and finding something that way. The first method is way less complicated than that though.

I... honestly am not sure how to quantify her transparency in a clear cut manner. Could anyone help me out here?

Transparency in living creatures is usually measured in percentages, as in what amount of the creature's body is completely see-through, and what parts are still visible. Most living creatures with transparent or translucent bodies usually have some portion of their bodies that remains visible, be it luminescent patterns in deep-sea creatures, or internal organs and viscera in frogs and so on.

So I guess a simple way to quantify it would be - what parts of her are actually transparent? Does the effect apply solely to her exterior armour, or does it somehow also carry over to all of her internal wiring, servos, fluids, core, etc.?

I appreciate you all giving me so much credit for scientific measurements of transparency but the original meaning was intended to be on a scale of "if you press your face to her back maybe someone can see your face on her belly" to "Literally Invisible"

But, not only does Vicarath provide a better measurement- comparison- but also Nato's point also stands about what parts of her.

A a suggestion, since her powers seem to work a bit like that device in the fourth episode of Rise of the Rookies, maybe she's as transparent as those nerds were?

Also, I'm presuming that it works only when using her intangibility, and is a side effect of tangibility?

Well, all of her body becomes intangible, so similarly does all of her body become transparent equally. I'd say she'd become just about transparent enough to be visible under perfect circumstances, but in less ideal visibility she'd be somewhat hard to detect.

Gosh darn it Onaku that describes pretty much anything >:u Is it close to the show's portrayal or not? That's one of the things I was wondering. And the other stuff I said in my previous post too, like about it being a side effect. I just want to make sure this intangibility is weak enough to not basically be invisibility, and also depending on the strength it might still be too powerful with the rest of her abilities.

While you're here: could you answer the camouflage thing as well? I asked it way back in Richie's profile approval about if it was automatic or had to be mentally triggered or what, but I never got an answer. Would you mind going into more detail on that?

Also I hope you nerds like novellas spanning several posts
