Umarak sold out?

Hey guys,

Has anyone else noticed that Umarak (the Destroyer) is sold out on the Lego shop? I don't know if it's just for the US, or everywhere, but whereas the others are showing out of stock (with expected ship date) or just available, Umarak is just "sold out". No option to buy, no way to tell if/when it will be available again.

None of the sets seem to be on Amazon yet, either. I was intending to go buy them at a store, but they weren't there yet, either.

What could this mean?

It might as well be all a conspiracy. Rumors of BIONICLE's End, and Sets mysteriously selling out, stores not having certain sets, the sets not appearing on Amazon at all? Something's up, this doesn't smell right. And, I think we as fans should try and get to the bottom of this. Do we really want to see it all end again? Heck no. Are they just not selling well because of the stigma of CCBS in the US? Considering that in Europe they are Extremely Popular and have so much unique Merchandise, whilst over here we have jack squat besides the sets. No Falke for Ekimu, no Polybag, No special Magazine, what the holy heck is even going on?! It frankly concerns me greatly, and I am greatly worried by it all, but now this development?! What is this all coming to!?

I am as clueless as you, I just hope there is someone who can give some insight as to what is going on, because I am lost as to what to do or say as a fan. Hopefully we as fans can find the answers and solve this conundrum.

To solve your problem, it might be best if you checked your local LEGO Store. I was searching High and Low for Ekimu, only to find him and all the other 2016 sets at my local LEGO Store, so try and give that a shot if you haven't already.

Sales are not solid. Went to my Lego store today and NO BIONICLE. Period. They said they were dropping bionicle altogether from that store. I am now convinced that bionicle is ending.

More people are ordering online as opposed to going to brick-and-mortar stores, especially older fans such as those who make up the majority of the Bionicle fandom. Ordering off the Internet is simply more convenient for some folks.

Okay, apparently the "Sold out" is gone now.

"Out of stock, expected ship date Jul 11 2016"

Yes, this is what now appears in its place.

Still not on Amazon, but now that it's on the Lego shop I'll just order from them. I think it's a bit hasty to call it a conspiracy, or the end of Bionicle. Could be as simple as a hiccup in the supply chain.

That, and Umarak's bound to be quite popular, due to his villain-of-the-year status. :P

I do buy them online if its a large order because of free shipping.

I'm just a simple man, trying to make my way in the Matoran Universe

Are they just not selling well because of the stigma of CCBS in the US? You can add this the the list "Sets mysteriously not arriving" and 3 major retailers stores in the same mall, unable to find out why the same 2 creatures (uxar and ketar) are not listed in their shipment plans, not in storage and are absent from their winter wave in more than 3 stores.

It starting to remind me of how bad things were like when lego did not sell the fire and ice chima ccbs sets in all other countries except North America a few years back.

If LEGO stops selling BIONICLE Sets in north America, plus considering that the majority of fans are from North America (to my knowledge) then we would all have to go to eBay to get the sets, but also I think it would be more than righteous for us as fans to all wright formal complaints to LEGO, and explain to them and discuss with them the issues at hand that would have brought such a decision up, and hopefully for them to once again release them in North America, if it ever comes to that point that is.

But, as stated before, if the stigma of CCBS is the reason why BIONICLE isn't selling here, than again, we as fans have to go out and clear the air, make it be known that such a stigma is childish and wrong. Therefore making LEGO see that people DO want the sets, just that they haven't been selling because of that unseen consequence of bringing forth CCBS in the first place. The sets were selling like hotcakes back in 2015, and they should be doing so now too. But, and again, the blind hatred of CCBS is exactly and to my knowledge the ONLY thing people were complaining about BIONICLE last year. And so, I think LEGO saw that, and pulled back because of it.

And again, back to the topic of clearing the air, if LEGO is slowly lessoning the stock of BIONICLE due to this, than we as fans must take action to clear this up. No one else has the power to do that, unless if we convince LEGO in helping us shatter that stigma, and thusly bring forth more sets and better sales. A Win-Win situation for both sides. But such a massive endevour is NOT something to wait out on, we as fans have to take action NOW, the sooner the better. Do we want things like Polybags and Ekimu's Falke over here in the US of A too? Heck yes we do! Do we want consistant sales of sets in most if not all department stores? Abso-freaking-lutely! Do we want to be running around the town, state, and or nation searching for one specific set? No, no, and again NO!

So lets get on it then! Let it be known that the stigma is wrong and that we DO want the sets. No finger pointing, just a peaceful understanding that will bare new ripened fruit.

Firstly, I don't know where you're getting the impression that the sets will be discontinued in North America, seeing as most of the rumors I've seen don't go farther than pointing to the theme becoming exclusive to Toys R Us and to the online Lego shop. That said, I don't think your impression that North American fans make up the majority of the fandom is necessarily correct—that may have been the case in G1, but that's probably in part due to your participation primarily on English-language forums, and based on the high number of promotions that have only shown up in Russia and Eastern Europe (not just for Bionicle, but also including Hero Factory promotions and polybags), it would not surprise me if the sets have been more successful in those markets.

Also, if the "stigma of CCBS" had any significant impact then you would expect the Star Wars constraction figures to be selling poorly as well, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The only people with that sort of "stigma" are disgruntled fans of the classic theme and AFOL communities who generally had no greater love for the classic Bionicle builds, both of whom are well outside the theme's target audience in the first place.

Sorry, I guess I kinda just freaked out there. Seeing the sets not in my area, even though my area was once a hotbed for BIONICLE sales and fan activity (at least online) it just makes me really sad and paranoid. A whole lot of people in my area do have that stigma (to my knowledge), however certainly the majority of fans (also to my knowledge) don't. Again, perhaps I just freaked out in saying what I said, and perhaps it's just not as easily available here because of the market over here, not so much the fan input or what have you. Perhaps it, again. Is just a case of the adverage consumer, perhaps the products aren't as eye-catching here as they are elsewhere. However, I would also like to bring up something else. To my knowledge there has or had been a very large port-shipment strike, which for many products have greatly impacted sales for many products, most notably Amiibo. It is important to note that this strike occured souly on the east coast of the USA, whilst comparitively to the west coast, such products have been more in abundance to my knowledge.

In any case, I would just like to get to the bottom of this so it isn't such a hassle to find the sets.

By the way, when I say 'to my knowledge' I am referring to hearing through word of mouth, things I've heard and read up on.
