Corrupted Tahu and Gali G2 masks?

Did they not make them?

They also have not made corrupted masks of water, stone, and air for the current summer wave.

Just the realities of economics.  :shrugs:

Tahu does have one.

It's just Gali-girl who doesn't. Either Lego are actively avoiding accusations of a damsel in distress scenario (which would be silly - untouchable characters are no fun) or it's just a case of there not being a water-themed villain yet. Who knows.

Some people consider the transparent masks to be "fully corrupted masks" and only Tahu and Gali have fully transparent masks (Tahu has two, a trans clear and a trans orange). I personally don't consider these to be corrupted masks though, and think they are actually masks of power "in use" (the trans orange mask of fire makes Tahu look like he is well, on fire...)

Unfortunately of those three transparent Toa masks only Tahu's trans orange one is cheap. The trans clear fire mask was a NYCC exclusive, and the Trans Blue Gali mask was a small run of 200 pieces given out at the Lego Inside Tour (insert Aanchir's or Linchir's comments on how they didn't think it was hard to get the trans blue mask of water... they both took the Tour that year! :P )

Maybe I'm being cynical, but frankly I would still tend to think it's Gali's status as "The Girl" that has prevented her from getting a drained/corrupted mask. Not to avoid the damsel in distress trope, but because Lego is still stuck on the idea that "It has to be for boys so girl sets are inherently less valuable."

They should have just made more masks in general! I would have died to have recolors of the 2015 masks to make more Toa MOC's. The coolest recolored mask is the hero pack clear orange tahu mask, and then there's the clear dark blue gali mask that we will never have the pleasure of owning.

Tahu and Gali have fully transparent orange and dark blue masks respectively. I think they should have done the same with Kopaka, Lewa, Pohatu and Onua's masks in there respective Skull Villain sets. Then at least we would have had a full set of transparent masks rather than 4 half gold half transparent and 2 full transparent ones.

To make an understanding of this, here's what we analyzed:

Summer 2015: the corrupted masks are half gold and half transparent colored, and they are:

1. Kopaka - transparent light blue

2. Lewa - transparent middle or dark green

3. Pohatu - transparent light green/yellow

4. Onua - transparent purple

Tahu and Gali don't have their own corrupted masks during the time, neither do they have their own Skull foes. Yes, there are transparent Tahu and Gali masks, but they are completely transparent, and they could mean the masks having their elemental powers used. Tahu has trans-clear and trans-red/orange masks while Gali has a trans-dark-blue one.

Summer 2016: the corrupted masks are half opaque colored and half transparent light green/yellow, and they are:

1. Tahu - opaque red

2. Kopaka - opaque white

3. Onua - opaque black

Lewa, Pohatu, and Gali don't have corrupted masks in this wave, neither do they have their own Elemental Beasts to fight.

My overall analysis: Tahu only has a corrupted mask in summer 2016. Gali never has any at all for some reason. I don't know why in every summer wave, there are always less on six corrupted masks. I always wanted all six corrupted masks in each summer wave, this is pretty ridiculous.:(

I like Lego, Bionicle, and Hero Factory!:)

They should release a mask set with the two absent corrupted Master masks, the three absent corrupted Uniter masks, and the G2 Mask of Time.

I love your idea. I am not sure if it possible, but I heard that a Makuta contest is going to send the winner a box of all 2015 and 2016 sets, even though that the 2015 sets are sold out from the LegoShop website, so I believe Lego would be kind enough to sel the masks as a special edition set in perhaps the end of this year or next year.:)

Well you can't expect them to make 6 summer wave sets just for the purpose of having 6 corrupted masks.

To be honest, if I want the summer wave sets, I would prefer either 6 of them with 6 corrupted masks or less than 6 summer sets with no corrupted masks.

To be also honest, I would like all the 6 Toa to have the same thing. Would you imagine that one of the Toa would be jealous with another one because of a lack of a corrupted mask? The masks look pretty great with dual-color bending.

It's a shame that not all Toa have corrupted masks in each summer wave. Back in February 2015, I heard that originally Lego was going to make 6 summer wave sets with 6 corrupted, but they decreased to 4 sets with 4 masks because they wanted to save some of their budget.:( I don't exactly remember, but here's that. I am not sure if Lego had a similar idea about the summer 2016 wave sets.

I don't think any of the Toa would be jealous because they weren't "lucky" enough to get their mask stolen and corrupted/drained. :P

In any case, the point of those corrupted/drained masks (along with the gold masks, for that matter) is to have a "bonus" mask with each set that you can swap out if you so desire. Omitting them from a sets just because there couldn't be a "complete set" of masks would only decrease those sets' appeal unless you replaced them with some sort of equivalent. And as Avatarbrickman pointed out, they can't just conjure up the budget for additional sets just to round the wave out into a full set of six.

I do sort of hope that someday some of those unused masks might end up being released in some sort of promotion like the Target Minifigure cubes, or possibly in a book like one of the DK Character Encyclopedias. After all, Ninjago figures based on older costumes that never appeared in sets have been released years after the fact. However, I don't know how likely that is. Not only has the success of the G2 books been debatable (raising the question of whether that sort of guidebook would be profitable), it's also not even clear whether the 2015 Tahu and Gali masks were designed with the capability of being dual-molded in the first place (I'd like to think all six masks would be but really that's just a guess).

I think a bigger part of it is that there were only villain sets in five colors, so one of the Toa's transparent colors (and corresponding mask) had to be omitted. I can definitely see why given that situation, LEGO would have opted to omit one of the two shades of blue.

Of course, once it was narrowed down to two, that still would've given them a choice between Kopaka and Gali, so you could argue that Gali being a girl might've become a factor at that stage.

Overall, though, I don't know if the story would have been a major factor in their decision at all. It could just be that they tested different masks and either the designers or focus groups thought the Mask of Ice looked cooler (no pun intended) in a two-color blend than the Mask of Water did. Or it could be that they wanted to push Kopaka due to him being a larger set (not too unlikely, since set size DOES seem to be the main factor in which Toa got corrupted masks in this year's sets). Or just that the availability of more Tr. Light Blue CCBS parts than Tr. Blue parts at the time pushed them to go with an ice character's mask instead of a water character's.
