Journey To One Makuta "Instructions"

Dorek

Recommended Posts

First off I found some great new instruction videos! These should help those struggling!

Secondly, I went out the other day to purchase all the sets needed so that I could build Makuta without sacrificing seven other figures (I was gonna spend twice that on 2017 Bionicle anyway) and I encourage others to do the same quickly! Target and Walmart have already taken Bionicle off shelves and I couldn't find a Tahu at any of the three Toys R Us near me. Even worse, only one of them had all six of the others. Thankfully I was fortunate enough to find a Tahu priced at $19.99 online but it was the last one the site had in stock and everywhere else was at least $34.99! Buy now as the prices will only continue to rise!

I've cracked the code and figured out MM Makuta, henceforth known as triple M.

The only inaccurate part is the hammer head. I don't have 41 trans purple studs, so I used 41 trans light blue. On a side note, in total, extras included, all of Gen 2 has 41 trans light blue studs in total. Funny that. Until Agil comes out. Then it's 42.

Did you go to the 2002 'The Power Lies Beneath' tour?

If yes, PM me. I'm looking for something that was only distributed during that tour.

Nice work but I notice some problems.

His back seems to be to far out in your model, but this may be accurate, I am not sure.  The pieces that connect the arms also seem to far away from the torso compared to the pictures.  I also think I see another gold piece on his back through one of the pin holes, in Dorek's pictures.

Edit: Actually, I think you have nailed it and just a few things need to be flipped around, I sent a message to explain. ;)

Now you know how it feels!

The gold piece was infuriating, so I eventually dismissed it as trick of the light, like how the eyestalk is reflected on part of the chest armor.

Actually, I feel that way a lot. :P   I really like reverse engineering.

That's what I was thinking too, but I couldn't explain how, because there wasn't anything to reflect off.  I think one of the gold pieces will fit on the torso build I messaged you, but I haven't tried it.

After much discussion with Rakrondewl, it has come to this.

Dorek, could you ask for shots of MMM from behind?

I'm hesitant to ask because you've already done so much. Kinda worried this may come off as demanding or greedy.

Here is the Overlord Makuta model.  Interestingly he was the only model to have a trans. orange head.

Sorry for the huge photo.

Snip.

Did any of the sets in G2 actually have a transparent orange head?

No. No they did not.

No. No they did not.

Does that mean it's a prototype piece or is it simply available in a different theme? Never seen one before.

A quick look on Brickset shows the head piece was only released in two different colors, silver and transparent green. I'm betting it's a prototype piece or a different part entirely. If it's the latter, then it could be a transparent orange fist since masks can clip onto those. I'm probably wrong about that though.

I am slowly but steadily getting all 7 sets needed to build Makuta 2016, but I want to ask if can someone tell me what parts are they needed from LOSS. I had already bought a second LOSS back in 2015 but it was MOC part scrapped, and the parts are all over the place, so I don't have the part collection in one place to isolate the materials needed. Does anyone know which parts will I need from LOSS? :???:

At a cursory glance, the beams of the legs, one t beam, the 'feet', the ball joint, and the angled connectors. I'm certain that's not all of it, but it's what I remember at the moment

I have two questions:

1. My parts collection includes the following sets:

All six 2015 Toa

All six creatures plus the Toa that is bundled with their respective creature.

Both Umaraks

All three beasts

Skull Scorpio, Mamsk Maker vs Skull Grinder, and Mask maker.

If I don't care about getting the color scheme right, do I have enough spare parts? If not, what is the minimal number of sets needed to make up the difference?

2. Do there exist, in whole or in part, any text-based instructions for this?

I want to build this to add the techniques employed to my MOC toolkit, but the images are useless, I doubt any of the videos are narrated in sufficient detail, and it would be a waste of money to buy a set I don't have just for a differently colored version of a part I already have enough of.

Just so you know, I'm blinad
