Skakdi of Light

Recommended Posts

So, according to canon, there are skakdi of all elements, so do you think there are also skakdi of the element of light? Or perhaps do you think they're too destructive to exist/use their powers? If they exist how/would they be different from the others in any particular ways? Also, wouldn't that mean there could also be a skakdi of shadow?

Thoughts?

I think that those two elements were tightly controlled by the OoMN and BoM, if I remember correctly. To my knowledge, there were av matoran, kra matoran (Which i believe was the agreed-upon name), the makuta, and maybe Umbra who exibited those powers, but otherwise shadow and light were not an element present in other species, at least not (for lack of a better phrase) "In the wild".

...now...that does lead to the interesting question of "did the OoMN hide away light skakdi like they did av-matoran", which is actually a really cool thought...

Vezon was the Skakdi of light the whole time. The fate of the universe would eventually rest in his hands. Everyone died. The end.

I'm 95% positive that there's a Greg quote somewhere that explicitly said that there aren't any Skakdi of Light or Shadow created by Spiriah's experiments. Of course, if any Skakdi were attacked by a Shadow or Light Leech, that would be a different story :P.

That said...Vezon, Skakdi of Light, loopier than a hula-hoop, hero of the multiverse, confirmed.

Wait... what of Irnakk and the Golden Skakdi fusion? Do you think those could be contenders for the Skakdi of light? And it makes sense since Irnakk was controlled by the Order and placed as a guardian to the mask whereas the Golden Being was created by destiny, like Takanuva.

Good points all around though! Loving this discussion.

Irnakk isn't real. The one that the Piraka faced on their way to the Ignika was created by the Zone of Nightmares, being that he is a being from Skakdi mythology that they all fear. Even if he was real, I'd say he'd be more a contender for shadow rather than light powers.

As for the fusion, it has other beings merged with it so probably can't be considered a true Skakdi and we don't really know if it even had any elemental powers at all. Given that none of the component beings had light powers though, I'd say it couldn't be a Skakdi of light.

Light, I believe, only occurred naturally in Matoran. Shadow wasn't naturally occurring at all, and could only be acquired after being hit by a Shadow Leach, not counting the Shadow Powers any being (example: Roodaka) could theoretically gain by focusing on negative emotions, which were classified as not being "elemental" in nature.

Considering that the Skakdi received their powers artificially via Spiriah's experiment during his BoM days, they likely wouldn't have access to elemental Light, nor Iron or Magnetism either, due to the damage they could potentially do to the Makuta species as a whole. Not excluding those would be pretty unintelligent on their part, as they practically started a genocide in which they killed off the majority of Toa possessing the latter two elements, and probably would've done the same for the first, had the OoMN not hidden away all of the Av-Matoran and if there were actually any Av-Toa running around before MoL.

That's what some afraid Skakdi would say. :P
