Iver
Once or twice in my times in this section of BZPower, I have seen topics trying to develop a Bionicle tabletop role playing game (or TTRPG, or RPG for short). They were usually D20 based, and never made much headway. This is understandable, considering how difficult it is to create a new game system. But I have made a discovery that will change all that. Play Mutants and Masterminds. Mutants and Masterminds (M&M) is a TTRPG whose main purpose is to create and play as superheroes. It's system is known for its great character creation flexibility. This suits it well to our purposes. In short, if you want to play a Bionicle RPG, just play Mutants and Masterminds. Seriously, look how easy it is. If you want to have a Kanohi, just create a power or set of powers with the Removable flaw. Nearly all Bionicle characters would have Immunity to Aging, but since everyone is going to have it anyways, you (if you are the GM) might as well give it to everyone for free. If you want to role play using up your elemental energies in a powerful burst, but leaving you temporarily drained afterward, M&M has a mechanic for that. It's called Extra Effort. If the GM wants to create an enemy such as a Muaka or a Makuta, it is child's play to arrange Power Points into a formidable foe. Limiting or increasing the Power Level of the campaign will create adventures for plucky Matoran or powerful Titans, respectively. Even if you don't have the book, you can still look at the rules on www.d20herosrd.com for free. Don't worry, it's perfectly legal.
