Hapori Tohu
This morning, the LEGO Group released their interim result for 2016, which describes a 10% rise in global sales in the first half of 2016. The growth is concentrated in Europe and Asia, with sales in the Americas remaining flat, which CFO John Goodwin says they are now taking steps to address. The continued strong performance is attributed to returning themes like City, Creator, Technic, Ninjago, and Star Wars as well as the successful launch of the Nexo Knights theme. The LEGO Group has also grown their workforce by over 3500 employees (24%) since the same time last year, and increased their energy efficiency by 16% since 2013. Iruini Nuva
Always nice to see generally positive news. Interesting US data (though 1H should have fewer sales than 2H, I'd think). Makes sense to proactively contract a couple of lines (Bionicle, Mixels, etc.) as an easy optimization when you're not seeing explosive growth.
