BIONI-LORDS BOOK 3: KAKO PREVIEW 3“I did mention this is a bad idea, right?” Xyla whispered. “You know, a couple of kids sneaking into a casino?”“Cease your worrying,” commanded the voice of Titan, King of Pahrak. “If we encounter trouble, I shall easily overpower them. My war is important, and defeating the King I sensed here is a large step towards victory.”Xyla ducked behind a slot machine, and then she turned to Genakex and angrily asked, “Well why are you here? Putting up with one fool is bad enough!”Genakex shrugged and said, “It seemed exciting. This is the first battle between King Bohrok I get to see!”Xyla rolled her eyes and ran up to and through a door, and Genakex followed her inside and looked around. They stood in an office with various plants and shelves along the walls, and opposite the door was a large wooden desk and a luxurious chair turned away from them. With a growl, Titan said, “He’s here…show yourself! I, Exo-Pahrak Kal Titan, challenge you to a battle of Kings!”Someone sighed and said, “I’ve been expecting you…but I did not expect a child to be your Va Champion.”The chair spun around, revealing its occupant: a young man who gave a look not of disinterest, but something more akin to a calm awareness. He had black hair that was slicked back, and he wore a suit that those older than Genakex and Xyla might realize was quite expensive. The man seemed to be in his twenties, but at the same time he had the air of a much older man—although Xyla dismissed this as an effect of her worry at just being there. The man leaned forward, resting his hands on the desk, and said, “I am Valxan, owner of this casino chain. I am also the Voyager Va.”Valxan drew a die from his inner coat pocket and casually rolled it across the desk, and the small cube came to a stop with the side denoting ‘one’ facing Genakex and Xyla. Rather than one dot, however, that side of the die displayed the King Bohrok emblem: a tall silver crown with the Bohrok symbol at the center. A translucent image appeared before the children, showing a blue being that seemed like an Exo-Toa with the head of a Bohrok, a black visor, a triangle of three stars on the Bohrok faceplate, and three chakrams wrapped around each arm.“I am Exo-Gahlok Kal Voyager, King of Gahlok,” the image said. Its voice was even calmer than the voice of Valxan, and carried with it a weight that, while difficult to describe, seemed to convey a sense of wisdom. The tone, also, sounded like that of an elder, one who had lived through much and also learned very much. “Hello, Titan…a pleasure, as always.”Another translucent image appeared—this one was a hulking monstrosity of thick brown armor, which also had a Bohrok head, and while one arm ended in a hand, the other ended in a large, double-barreled cannon. Titan, with evident disappointment, said, “Oh, Voyager…I should’ve known. This is just my luck.”“This is gonna be awesome!” Genakex said.“My apologies, young Champion, but there will be no battle,” Voyager said. While, due to his construction, Voyager could not smile, it sounded as though he intended to. “Titan, I respectfully decline your challenge.”“I thought as much,” Titan grumbled, clenching his fist in frustration. “You disgrace the title of King Bohrok with your cowardice!”“Wait…no battle?” Genakex said. “Why not?! I thought all King Bohrok were supposed to fight each other?”“I am unlike other Kings, young one,” Voyager chuckled. “True, I had a kingdom in the past, but I journeyed through many other dimensions before reaching this one. I gained much wisdom in my voyages, and now I have outgrown my desire to conquer…though I am still subjected to the Royal Curse.”Valxan stood up, straightening his suit jacket as he did so, and said, “My father won Voyager’s die in this very casino, when he owned it several years ago. I’ve been holding onto it as a keepsake, and when Voyager emerged, he explained the Curse to me.”“I suppose you are a coward as well?” Titan snorted.“I am no coward, but I do support Voyager’s decision to avoid the war as much as possible,” Valxan said. “It is my duty as his Va Champion, is it not?”“At least SOMEONE besides me thinks this whole thing is insane,” Xyla said with no small relief. “I’m VERY sorry we snuck in, Valxan, sir—Titan wouldn’t shut up, and I was losing my mind…”“Completely understandable,” Valxan said with a smile. “I’ll see you both out, and then we can forget this ever happened.”“I wanted to see a battle of Kings…” Genakex mumbled.Xyla turned her most intense glare on Genakex, and he had nothing more to say.
Complete the cycle.
