What Needs To Improve On Bzp The Most, If At All?

The one major pet peeve I have now is that the talkback links on front page news stories don't directly link to the forum topics, but only to the general talkback forum page. I'm not certain why this is the case, but if we can't expect an actual overhaul of the front page any time soon, fixing this would be satisfying enough. :)

That´s related to how the new board software handles the automatic talkbacks. I am pretty sure it can be fixed, however, I don´t think anybody on the staff has the time and patience to figure out a fix to it at this time.~Gata. ;)

Bring back the Bubble Wrap!

One could argue that bringing back the bubble wrap would mean having to bring back the board messages.I present an alternative.
We actually had that here once?
Yes!it was a simpler time.
Where on the site was it?
It was linked on the old "server busy" pages - then known as Board Messages, now known as Community Messages. In addition, there was a randomized funny response that was on the page. After a forum upgrade (not the Great Downtime) the messages were no longer added, although the file is somewhere on the server.I don't believe there are any plans to re-implement them. The messages are not seen nearly as often anymore, so it'd be kind of pointless too anyway.(I loved the bubble wrap, though.)

I'd make it so new members don't have to wait for an admin to approve the account before becoming a 'New Member' <.< I was waiting for like six hours before I could start posting ;~;

We did this because we used to get a ton of spam and bot accounts that would just decimate the forums. Trust me, while it can be an annoyance, the approval process is a good thing for BZPower.

Fun fact; this proved itself useful today.

Get rid of the word "#####" on the word filter. Why is it even there?

I'm sure that's bypassing the word filter...Anyways, the following probably should be removed:BZP LoversUnfaircool dudeNobody cares about me. I need attenton so I wanted to be annoying. They are conformed to past realities and are outdated now. And the last one misspelled "annoying". Edited by Chaos Dralcax

I'd change the homepage so that it has the new Hapori Tohu design that the forums have.I'd also make it that when you click on "Posts" or "Topics",it would show ALL your posts & topics instead of the latest ones.-CDP

I'm still fond of using "an cool dude" as an insult, but I agree that its time is past. We ought to relax censorship. And although I know this will go unaddressed, I'm in favor of allowing access to a Certain Video Site (CVS). Google Video was allowed for the longest time, but that's no longer an active service, because Google actually runs CVS now. Not to mention that Google Video was totally unregulated, allowing pornography and anything else unsavory onto its servers. Barring the fact that CVS doesn't even allow pornography, they also have the ability to flag videos that are potentially inappropriate. It's simply a much safer website than Google Video ever was, and I can't fathom why it isn't allowed when Google Video is.

The videos on it might be safe, but have you ever read the comments on the videos? Half of them are completely inappropriate. That being said, it will most likely be allowed if/when the advertising policy is updated.

Change one thing?Just one?Weeelllll.... =3-imagines ponies. Ponies everywhere-That of course would only be on April 1st.Though, seriously, I'd probably do a skin update thingamado where members could choose six different skin colors corresponding to their favorite main six element of harmony. That would be fun. ^^ I mean, it would probably never happen ever but it would be fun. XD The choices would be Lewa, Kongu, Kongu Inika, Kongu Mahri, Lewa Nuva and Nidhiki for our darker theme.

I'll admit that's a valid point, but I still think it's worth allowing. We need to stay as relevant as we can considering that we're a site dedicated to an extinct toyline.

Get rid of the name of the-most-viewed-video-webstite-on-the-world on the word filter

We've rehashed this debate many times - the feature would be taken advantage of and might lead to inappropriate videos being posted on the site, not to mention the fact that almost 99% of the comments on there have profanity also....Which is something that makes me confused, considering I've seen people with Twitter accounts linked to here that have rather inappropriate comments posted in them with a number of inappropriate words. These are specifically accounts from staff members that will go unnamed (no, this is not whining or trying to nail the staff for something, but I just don't think this is would be appropriate, even if the staff's case). Outside of BZP or not, I'd think that, although not directly related to BZP, if it has profanity or inappropriate content, it should not be linked to.I'd probably bring back the member spotlight, hot topics list, and also change the site's forums page to be appearing as more BIONICLE-oriented, honestly. Hot topics list I don't see an exact need for, but many people like it for some reason. :P Edited by Peach 00

On the day the wall came down / They threw the locks onto the ground

And with glasses high / We raised a cry / For freedom had arrived

On the day the wall came down / The ship of fools had finally run aground

Promises lit up the night / Like paper doves in flight

I dreamed you had left my side / No warmth, not even pride remained

And even though you needed me / It was clear that I could not do a thing for you

Now life devalues day by day / As friends and neighbors turn away

And there's a change that even with regret / Cannot be undone

Now frontiers shift like desert sands / While nations wash their bloodied hands

Of loyalty, of history / In shades of grey

I woke to the sound of drums / The music played, the morning sun streamed in

I turned and I looked at you / And all but the bitter residues slipped away

slipped away...

A good idea would probably to, if there is no activity on an account for X minutes, to put that user in an "Inactive users list", and be moved back to active users once they actually do something.

For what purpose though? I'm not seeing how that benefits anyone. Frankly, all I see is a bunch of work for the staff that could be put towards much more important things (word filter, policies, etc.).

:kaukau: Hard to say. Every once and a while an idea comes to me, but they're all so minor that I have to stress myself to remember them later on. However, perhaps the one thing that annoyed me more than anything else was the difficulty I had in rearranging the sidebars on my blog. Sometimes when you have enough of them and some of them are long, it's dificult to pull them into the places I want them to go.Your Honor,Tyrannosaurus Kraggh

First of all, that video site we all know about anyways. Only people I know who don't know about it is my no-tech grandmother and some kids that are too young to use the computer anyways. Also: the whole policy about linking to other forums and places with comment sections in general. I mean, there is barely a site on the net nowadays that does not allow user input. As long as BZP keeps its in-post rules, links shouldn't be a problem. And don't link to banned sites in news posts if they are so vile! :lol:Speaking of in-post rules: the word filter. It's old and outdated and inaccurate. First, we have moron, stupid, retard and even idiotic as viable options, but a single synonym is banned. Speaking of synonyms, there is also darn and ####, heck and ####, etc. Ban both or none. Then we have the short term for modification. I have no idea why that is not allowed, especially not since the plural is not filtered. Is it some ancient abbreviation for something dirty? Because the only thing I can find is some vague reference to 60's youth culture when I use Google.... Speaking of which, Google should totally banned, because BZP can not control what you find there. ;)Sorry for being somewhat bitter here, but these things annoyed me even back when I was a poor, unprotected child. :D

Google has social networking nowadays, too. So if we can't link to a website named after a book of portions of the human head relating to the expression of emotion and sensory input, then how come we can link to Google?

Google is not filtered, unlike that-other-site-you-know, and I have never heard anything to the contrary, especially not since Google Video was allowed to be linked to (despite having a mostly unfiltered comment section as well) back when it was a thing.

The word filter is on the list of things to update. But I'll still explain some things because why not.The reason "darn" and "heck" are allowed but not the other versions is because, simply, those two are not considered swear words, and the other two are. We don't decide this, society does. The short form of modification is because it was once a reference to a webforum that is no longer an issue. And that other synonym that you mentioned is banned specifically because it was -the- insult of choice at one point in time on BZP and it got out of hand so it was simply filtered.

Ah, I see now why Cool Dude is there as a word filter. But seriously, add new skins, remove the ban on Forbidden Vidsite and Forbidden Social Networking site (I mean, there's already a rule forbidding links to inappropriate content. What members do outside of BZP on those sites is up to them.), and the site would be even more awesome.Aside from that, I find nothing wrong with a single rule on this site.
