Hapori Tohu
Yet another project recently reached ten thousand votes of support on LEGO Ideas. Surf Rescue by LEGOSurfRescue is hardly just another project though - it's a collaboration between a son and his father who was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma last year. It's a touching story that deserves a read before you even go and look at the model. One you do though, you'll find a cool beach set with lots of stuff going on to offer a wide range of playability. The most important part though is the surf rescuers all wearing some combination of hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect themselves while outside. We wish this project the best of luck during the next review phase! View the full article Quote News Forums Q&A
Pohaturon
Not to be dismissive of the designer here, as this is an overall nice model/diorama/whatever, but... of all the countless, masterfully designed and crafted ideas that only get a few thousand supports, or run out of time just ~2000 shy of the 10k mark, this hits the magic number? Again, I'm not trying to be mean here. It's not bad at all. It's good. But it isn't fantastic. Obviously if this got the support and those others didn't then the community knows what it wants, but I'm a tad baffled that what looks like it would have been an actual, official set in, say, the 90's gets more hype than the pop-up book idea, for example. Nonetheless, congratulations. 1 Quote Stone rocks Model Designer at The LEGO Group. Former contributor at New Elementary. My MOCs can be found on Flickr and Instagram.
