G3 in planning stage, wait what?

Okay I was on facebook the other day when I saw a email, PM something screen shot that said

"We are so glade to hear that,

but the Bionicle series is still in the planning stage."

I don't know if it's a fake or real there was a huge debate in the comment section over the topic.

If any BZPower members are part of the "Bionicle Community Group Page" check out the post.

It's a rather new post.

*rubs temples at the unnecessary sarcasm* Look, real or not, it's a big thing to hear. If anything TImeLord just wanted to clarify if it was real, there's no need to be like this people, just confirm it true or false and that's it.

Personally I would like it if G3 was in the works, and frankly I wouldn't doubt LEGO to be working on it, but it's just that at this point in time seems unlikely to happen any time soon, but who knows. Frankly I haven't seen this apparent email myself, or anything of the sort, there has been on and off talk on the internet that i have stumbled upon, over the various months, but nothing official.

And there's my two cents.

EDIT: Okay, so the only thing related to a possible G3 in progress comes from TTV, which in and of itself is just a fan conceptual project. It's cool and all, but it is NOT official in any way.

[snip]

Regardless, okay yes it's not real. As far as I can tell though TimeLord just wanted clarification, you all don't have to be like this though, it's not necessary. It's not real, end of story, but there's no need for this sarcasm.

Accurate

So your definition of fun is making fun of someone who simply doesn't know any better, or is curious? You're all being a bit harsh. That's all I'm saying.

Okay. Here's what I heard this year:

1. Disney buying the rights to Bionicle (like how Marvel got the movie rights to Spider-Man on 2015). The Spider-Man thing is real, but that thing about Bionicle is confirmed to be fake.

2. DC Comics buying the rights to Bionicle. Again, this is confirmed to be fake.

3. Now this.

An email saying that Bionicle G3 is in planning stage. Alright. Hmm... I'm not sure if this is fake or not, but I would go with the fact that it's real. Someone must've sent a message to Lego to ask if they are working on bringing Bionicle back, and Lego replied this. Or, if Lego is so fond of a fan who loves their products, they would do that. Also or, it could be both. Just my theory on how this happened.

This topic is the first I've heard of this, so I have no idea if it's real or not. I personally doubt that it is, but I have no evidence to back that up.

I wouldn't have a problem with it being true though, as I would really like for Bionicle to return. But even if it is, I doubt it would be revealed for at least another couple of years.

I don't think it makes sense to assume that all people that work under the LEGO banner are particularly equal.

What I mean by that is I doubt whomever runs the LEGO Facebook or Twitter is directly involved in any planning or production of any LEGO lines. The teams they have working on LEGO lines probably have responsibilities other than answering random fans' questions on social media. I obviously don't work for LEGO so I can't say how much insider info a social media operator gets, but out of the possible assumptions we can make I think it makes sense that they wouldn't be involved in any core production or planning.

Let's then assume that they DID get info or hear whispers of Bionicle being in production, and in that case their statement can mean almost anything. It's broad enough to say that the future of the Bionicle IP is in planning, which could just as well mean that LEGO decides Bionicle is worthless and unprofitable and never worth bringing back. They could plan to release Bionicle but replace sets with recycled Galidor figures. IF what they said was true then all we know is Bionicle is in planning, but for what fate is completely unclear.

I wanna believe this to be true as much as anyone else since it alludes that discussions about Bionicle's future are still going on rather than a decision being made to put it on hold indefinitely. Still, it feels like we're really desperate now, clawing at any bits and pieces of news about Bionicle no matter how implausible or random. These rumors have about as much weight to me as G2 Bohrok... meaning it's pure conjecture and speculation.

If we're to hear anything about a G3, it won't be for a while. The line would have to have been in production for a while, and G2 was just canceled like a year ago. LEGO hasn't even taken Bionicle.com down yet.

I wouldn't mind these threads quite as much if they were more direct instead of being about seeing a post of a screenshot of an email a few days ago or whatever.  Share the actual image or link to the place you saw it instead of telling people to go looking for a "recent" post in a closed Facebook group.
