LEGO Looking into Biomaterials to Replace Their Plastics

The LEGO Group has been making headlines lately as they keep working to improve their carbon footprint on the planet, like the early arrival of their renewable energy goal. Another goal gaining traction is their research into plastic-like materials, some bioplastics or similar that will uphold LEGO's standard for safety, quality, and durability and still interlock with today's bricks. It's for the best regardless, as there's a finite amount of oil in the world. Eventually all plastic products are going to have to be made from renewable materials.

As much as I may dislike LEGO, I applaud this initiative. More toy companies should look into environmentally friendly (or friendlier) alternatives to their petroleum-based products.
