I can imagine they would celebrate the anniversary of the Matoran being awoken on Mata-Nui; they could hold a party in each village and give each other presents such as gems, tools, statuettes and masks.

and hafu originals  :)

this topic is about making up your own, not canon stuff

The coming of the new year, categorized from the latter half of the final month to the end of said month being represented by the element of ice, than with the next coming season being water, followed by air, than by fire, stone, than earth, than back to ice, if we're going by the temperatures of the season based on those of earth. If seasons are not to be counted, than maybe say on mata nui it's a travel across the island representing the passage of time with the elements of the island. If it isn't on Mata Nui, instead it's on Spherus Magna, it would probably be the event of Kohlii tornaments and Ceremonial Glatorian Arena fights, non-dangerous or for any cause mind you, it would only be done for wake of fun and the coming of the new year. I would figure gift giving and feasts would play a part in the festivities, respectively for each of the species that is, but mutually for the feastive acts that can be accomplished. I.e Agori and Skakdi could eat, but Matoran would make things and give said things to eachother and others, that sort of thing.

I imagine that there may be a celebration associated to each element, and the members of the celebrated element would receive gifts from members of the others. These may all take place in the same year, or each year would have its element associated with it, with the elemental celebration always occurring on the same date within a year.

Off the top of my head, the day the Toa canisters arrived on Mata Nui seems like a good thing to make a holiday after.

That being said, I now realize that the day/night cycle on Aqua Magna was almost certainly different than it was on the reformed Spherus Magna.

I would imagine good-hearted people, including the Matoran and Agori, decorating trees with some pieces of metal and celebrating certain days, like the arrival of the Toa Mata (they would use canisters as Christmas trees), their victory against the Skrall in the Skrall War, and the day where the MU and BA residents united to win the Battle of Bara Magna. Ice people would most likely do these holidays.

I like Lego, Bionicle, and Hero Factory!:)

Tying in with the origin of Christmas, maybe something like when the first Toa (of whatever island) first arrived. I'm not sure of the exact time each "part" of the Bionicle story took up (as in, Mata Nui from 2001-2003, etc), but I could see something like the anniversary of the Toa Mata arriving being celebrated each year.

The official word is that the entire BIONICLE storyline we saw firsthand, the Toa arriving on Mata Nui to the Reformation of Spherus Magna, was one year. So, they'd be celebrating this Arrival Day right about the time Makuta was killed.
