Sergei Rahkmaninoff
Flickr"Euclid's Elements is certainly one of the greatest books ever written, and one of the most perfect monuments of the Greek intellect."- Bertrand Russell, A History of Western Philosophy, p. 211My entry in the preliminary round of the 2018 Bio-Cup on Flickr! I was set from the start on offering something entirely original. After a days or two muddling through various unsatisfying 'elements' from alchemy, technology, and science, I suddenly recalled the Greek mathematician Euclid's authorship of the landmark geometry textbook entitled Elements, and knew I would depict him. In a Bionicle twist, he now wields Geometry powers in addition to his trademark compass and straightedge! I look forward to your thoughts, hope you enjoy, and wish my fellow participants good luck in the Bio-Cup!

jchavoya
This is creative and amazing! As a proud mathematician, I'm mindblown. Edit: Oh my God! I was looking at the amazingness that is this build again, and I just noticed...you gave him a compass! Please tell me you have plans to give him a straightedge also (or is that what's on his other hip?) Edit 2: really though, I'm seriously nerding out right now, this is the greatest thing ever! I honestly don't know what's my favorite part of this, that it actually looks like Euclid, that you gave him tiny math tools, or that he's about to blast someone with a circle inscribed in an equilateral triangle. Forgive me if this is forward, but can you please make instructions? (after the Biocup of course, which I really hope you win!). I'd love to add Euclid to my collection, and am not worthy to try to replicate it without help. Seriously, send this to Lego right now so they can make it an official set. I need this in my life.
