Is there a version of MNOG out there without the broken dialogue?

Recommended Posts

Some characters in the MNOG downloadable versions are missing their dialogue as you travel to Kini Nui. Judging from the Flash files, these characters are Tamaru, Kopeke, and Kapura. I've had a bit of a look around on the internet, but the downloadable versions all seem to have the same files, and every walkthrough I've looked at on Youtube includes the broken dialogue (and barely includes it anyway).

I think I can restore it myself if it doesn't exist, but there's one problem: I don't have the original source. Which, I'm guessing, is why it's never been fixed. But I thought I'd ask you lovely people anyway.

This was an issue with the 2006 rerelease that propagated when that version served as a basis for all the fan-produced restorations/modifications. The 2002 version Templar posted on their site in 2013 has the files, though!

Now that I'm on BMP staff it actually should be pretty simple for me to update our versions of the game with these files. I'll get on that sometime soon.

Oh wow, thanks so much Peri. I figured the version Templar had uploaded was the 2006 version, not the 2002 version.

Forgive me for asking, but is there a method to download all of the relevant files directly from the Templar webpage? I seem to only be able to download the player.swf file. In either case, it is simple enough to run through and transcribe the text from this version, so I will probably do that anyway.

I would greatly appreciate it if you let me know if/when the Biomedia Project version is updated.

The BMP has been updated! It's not my doing, but it seems like someone on our staff grabbed the files from the version of the game on Templar's site - that's now our "No Login" streaming version. Here's the ZIP I found if you wanted to download it. I think it's identical to the 2006 rerelease, aside from the modifications LEGO made to introduce the word "Matoran". Weirdly, the same dialogue files for the Chronicler's Company seem to be absent there as well? Not sure exactly what's going on there. I ended up just creating new files from scratch using the text displayed in-game to get our versions fixed up.

So does not even Templar have the missing files from the second game?

They might have 'em, but we definitely don't.

I read somewhere the files were lost permanently by mistake when Templar was asked to hurriedly provide them to LEGO when they made the game available again...don't remember where I read it. Sounds incredibly irresponsible and unprofessional to neglect having a backup, though, perhaps unrealistically so. Therefore, I'm not sure I believe it. I do remember Leah Weston Kaae saying "We are not going to fix MNOGII" after some backlash back in '06 about the missing content, perhaps because they were unable to fix it.
