Dralcax
Ghost ForumYear: 2016Bionicle has been dead for six years. All members have been driven away from BZPower.com. First the downtime filtered out many less enthusiastic members. Then, the number of new accounts declined. Next, members lost interest and pursued other hobbies, or flocked to other Lego forums. The staff, realizing no one was there, resigned. Finally, Black Six, the head of BZPower, finally quit in 2013, being the last active member. Three years passed. BZPower died. The once almighty Tohu, first a god, then an automated news talkback topic posting system, finally became obsolete. Everything was still. Not an account stirred. But now, now was the time for life. On May 13th, 2016, a member joined. His name: uR aN cool dude. (Yes, the filter was still in effect.) He checked the active members. He was the only one in this desolate world. So why not take command? He employed his hacking skills. He managed to steal one critical password. Black Six’s password. He hacked his account, became the new admin. But there was one problem. What is a king with no peasants? What is a police officer with no criminals? What is a forum with no members? So, he did another hack. He changed Bionicle Zone Power to Hero Factory Zone Power. Then he changed the rules. More accurately, he eliminated them. Advertising caused an influx of new members. With no rules, chaos ensued. It became the internet’s worst nightmare. More than 100 teens were victims of cyberbullying on that site. More than 1000 viruses were spread through it. More than 2000 inappropriate images were posted. More than 100000 instances of harsh profanity were said. Then the big change came.Year: 2020The site died once again. All members left. All activity stopped. Hero Factory was dead.Year: 2025A new member joined. He might be a force for good, or corrupt, as you have just seen. But who knows? In our hearts, Bionicle will never die. What you have just read is an instance of what could have been. But that will never happen.Anyways, this was an attempt to write a "This-could-have-happened-and-that's-the-scary-part" story. Bionicle is over. We need to nurture it in our hearts. The downtime has hurt us. Many members have left. We are getting fewer new members. Discussion in general is declining. We need to act fast. Sumiki
I agree, somewhat, with the point of the story, but I really can't say it does much in the realm of realism. For example, if Black Six resigned, he'd be a POBZPC, and hacking his account after that would be rather pointless. Also, a thousand viruses? One hundred thousand "instances of harsh profanity"? While those might happen should the rules be eliminated, those numbers seem incredibly far-fetched ...Flow-wise, it progresses rather quickly - too quickly. Slow down the pacing, and give a little more description. How did "uR aN cool dude" find the site? How did he know so much about hacking? What were his motives? (I'd prefer it if you broke up the wall of text into smaller segments as well, but that should happen if you slow down and expand it, providing more description as I've detailed above. Also, how come the last segment occurs a year before "uR aN cool dude" finds the defunct BZPower? Shouldn't that be something like "2025"? Quote avatar by Lady Kopaka

fishers64
Strange idea, but a little rushed in execution. I don't like the idea of people misusing the forum for undesigned purposes, however. You would think that if the forum got that slow, that the admins would intervene and shut it down. Or if the villain in this story was active, the admins would shut it down too.
