For example, last month BZPower member tourmalinex shared some custom Bionicle masks they created that were inspired by Marvel's X-Men. Go check out the Marvelous Mask Collection to see the results, which are very impressive. If you like the designs, you can even use Shapeways to get a real-life version added to your collection! I'm always partial to Wolverine, but also particularly like the Cyclops and Storm ones too. All of them are great in that they're not too overt in their heritage and if you didn't know it, would in fit perfectly on Metru Nui.
