I’m making some MOCs of the Toa Mata as Turaga, including 3D printed masks and top halves of their staffs. They are pretty much a 2001 turaga build, just with Bohrok arms.
I’m just interested in a couple of things.

Concept-wise: 1. Is everyone longing as much as I am to see the Toa Mata to “fulfill their destiny” and become Turaga, or is that just me? 2. Would you want to see Takanuva among them as Turaga, or would you just be bothered about the original 6?

Build-wise: 1. Do you think Kopaka would/should have a shield as a turaga? 2. Yellow and white Takanuva, or Silver and white? (If I end up making him)

Thanks

It would've been neat to see the Nuva become Turaga (they could have, since they achieved their destiny by awakening Mata Nui). Takanuva wouldn't have been able to become a Turaga until later, though, since he hadn't fulfilled his destiny yet. I think of him as pretty distinct from the Nuva, so I wouldn't picture him among them as a group of Turaga.

I'm not sure about Kopaka carrying a shield in-hand all the time as a Turaga, but maybe a small one that he could keep on his back?

I'd prefer Takanuva in gold and white, but between the options you gave, I'd pick silver.

Kopaka should have a shield and no staff.

Takanuva could be in silver, but as TuragaNuva said, gold-and-white would be better. I still think that it would be better if he remained a Toa, though.

I personally have viewed Takanuva as an honorary Nuva (it's in his name, for crying out loud).

I would favor Kopaka with a shield and staff (presumably the others with just a staff) and gold-and-white Takanuva.

Thanks guys. Can you think of any good single pieces for a Turaga Kopaka shield?

I personally don't think you can get any better piece than his original 2001 shield. It's not like a sword or offensive tool where there's really an objectively "weaker" version it could devolve into.

I don't know about Turaga Kopaka having a shield to be honest, but the overall concept is neat. Some time ago I saw some fan art depicting them as a blend of the 2001 Turaga build and the movie style, with 2015 Toa masks standing in as their "noble" versions.

I'd say Takanuva fits well enough into their group. He did have the same build in 2003 and their stories are inherently linked due to MoL.

I like turaga kopaka having a shield. I think his original shield is too big though, and I think that his turaga sheild should be a full shield without holes (like his nuva shield). I like the thought of using a white 4x4 inverted radar dish (item number 3960)

Does a Turaga's tool have to be connected with their Toa one or ones?

I don't see much in common between Vakama's disc launcher and fire staff.

Isn't Vakama's firestaff his old mask-forging tool?

How about this thing for Kopaka's shield? I think the version his Nuva form had was larger than this (and Mata version).

Never heard that before. I always thought it was just an object, not any kind of technical device.

Is there any info on how/where Turaga get their tools?

Yeah, it's the same Firestaff he used as a Matoran: https://biosector01.com/wiki/Firestaff

Some Turaga use their transformed Toa Tools (the tools change with them when they become Turaga), and others use some other tool they have an attachment to (like Vakama's Firestaff). It's just personal preference. Source: https://biosector01....Badge_of_Office

Okay, but what did Vakama's launcher and (as it clearly states her trident was made by her) Nokama's hydro blades transform into?

Biosector 1 re: Nokama’s trident:
“As a Matoran living in Ga-Metru, Nokama used a Trident as an implement to point things out to her classes. When she became a Toa Metru, she abandoned her Trident in favor of her Hydro Blades.

Later, on the way to finding the island of Mata Nui, Nokama carved a new Trident out of the bones of a Makuta Fish. She uses this as the Trident of Nokama, her Badge of Office as a Turaga. This tool is also known as the Fork Shaped Staff.”

I can’t see anything that says the Toa Metru weapons did transform, maybe they can choose to transform them or not. I imagine the Toa Nuva, never having a Matoran life, would choose to transform their weapons, as that’s all they’ve known, I can imagine Kopaka choosing to keep a shield as it was his distinguishing feature

Edit: more info:
“When Matau became a Turaga, his Aero Slicers transformed into the Kau Kau Staff.”
“The Stone Hammer is Turaga Onewa's staff and Badge of Office. It was originally the Proto Pitons,[OGD] from which it transformed when Onewa became a Turaga.”
“When Whenua became a Turaga, his Earthshock Drills were transformed into the Drill of Onua.”
“When Nuju transformed into a Turaga, his Crystal Spikes transformed into the Ice Pick.”

So they can transform actually, and end up quite different from their original form... interesting

The 6x6 dish is a great choice for a Turaga Kopaka Nuva shield.

Honestly, the Turaga staffs have always been a little bit arbitrary. Some, like the Firestaff, are something from when they were a Matoran (only it's a walking stick now). The ones that are transformed Toa Tools seem particularly weird, since they usually look nothing like each other (two Aero Slicers turn into a single buzzsaw-like staff for Matau?). You'd have to do it on a case-by-case basis for Turaga Nuva. It's tradition by now that Tahu would have a Firestaff, but you have a lot of possibilities for the others.

My brain automatically read it with a "the" between the word "for" and "Turaga," but it's still confusing.
