IC: Thom - Onu-Metru Archives

The Skakdi felt something snap, something important as he stood up. Warm liquid leaked through his armour as he fired back with his both his own weapons, blazing yellow projectiles blasting from his snubnose, punctuated by a thundering gunshot from his revolver.

"OI! AXEY! GET OUT OF THERE BEFO-"

IC Kanohi - the Fall of Mata-Nui

Kanohi scooped up a Ta-Matoran as he hurtled last, carrying them across the rapidly collapsing bridge. The two of them landed in a heap, sprawled across the shattered street.  The vigilante gasped out, before shoving his arms against the ground. The motion pushed him up, letting him sit up.

His body ached as he sat there, breathing heavily. Just a little rest, then back into the fray.

But then … there was a quake. Not the quake of a building collapsing, or the destruction of a bridge, this was older and deeper. Like the mountains and oceans themselves let out a breath cut short. Then came another rumble, and another.

Kanohi stared at the increasingly trembling world around him, was this because of the war? Was the island itself damaged? Beyond the crumbling homes of Matoran? Or was … was this something else, something the chaos of the war had masked?

Hey, hero?

He could hear a Matoran ask for a Toa, but none seemed to be in sight. And then he felt a hand grasp his wrist.

Um, mister hero?” the Ta-Matoran said as he looked straight up at Kanohi. The Fe-Matoran felt his face blossom crimson as the Matoran said, “it’s not much, but you could get more out of these than me.” The Matoran of Fire nudged towards Kanohi two Kanoka, both regeneration disks with a level of — 6?

Kanohi had never seen such a powerful disk up close, nearly powerful enough to make a noble mask. “I … I couldn’t—

Please. You can travel around and repair the city quicker than I could. And I’m not the kind to be a hero, I’m just a freak.

The vigilante looked at the Ta-Matoran, his Huna staring up at Kanohi, almost like a Matoran seeing a Toa for the first time. Kanohi felt his armor of broken of masks shake, almost in tune with the growing tremors.

I am a freak too,” Kanohi said finally, almost squeaking out, “and a failure. But by working together, we Matoran can do great things. Remember the virtue of unity, even now.”

Shakily he reached for the disks, and then before the mask maker’s eyes, Kanohi’s hands began to tremble, his breathing speed up, and his eyes poking out from under his mask seemed to widen into disks.

Is-is something wrong? Do … you see it too, don’t you?

Just an … a dream.” Kanohi stood up, picking up the disks. Ashe looked over them, both seemed to be from Le-Metru, the district he had just been straining to rescue Matoran from. Maybe … maybe that effort was pointless ultimately. But … but it was better to try, then to abandon his unity and his duty.

The vigilante aimed his hand towards a half-destroyed skyscraper, and then to the Ta-Matoran he said, “I … you should head underground, or maybe board an airship and drift between Metru-Nui and the stars. But stay somewhere either reinforced or isolated, hopefully both. I … I can’t explain it more.”

And then he grappled away, hurling himself into the air, as the tremors continued, and a terrible creaking sound began to travel down both ground and sky. As he grappled about he could see the Silver Sea and its canals squirmed, the waterways of Metru-Nui growing shallow as the Liquid Protodermis drained from the city. As he swung Kanohi could see the stars began to flicker and shift as rapidly and random as his own heartlight, frantic and unbalanced.

He … he didn’t fully understand what was happening, but he knew his duty to the Matoran, and his unity with his people. And hopefully, that would be enough. Even as a universe died…

IC: Skorm (Ga-Metru)

The Kra-Toa took Ardoku's arm and was hauled to his feet, groaning. "... Thanks. We don't have much time." The orbiting masks shuddered around them as the world shimmered. The Kra-Toa paused, catching his breath. "We definitely don't have much time."

The av-matoran looked at Oreius and Tekmo. His breathing slowed, as did his color-shifting. "My... my name is Skorm. I remember that... but I don't really know who that is."

The Kra-Toa chuckled raggedly, pointing to the droning, faceless toa and the shapeshifter. "Those are what happened to your memories. We... I.... you, partitioned your memories off. They're you. I'm you. Even that," he said, pointing to the vortex, "is you."

Scanning the crowd, the matoran Skorm tilted his head. "Is... everyone here me?"

The toa chuckled again, but coughed. "No, Oreius and the others aren't you, they're... helping right now."

"So, what am I?"

"You're the core being. A blank slate. Innocence, if there is such a thing. That," the Kra-Matoran said pointing at the vortex, "Is your inner darkness. Everyone has some, ours is a bit more... active. The two that won't shut up are what remains of your memories and your brainwashing. It's what's throwing us out of balance. The floating masks are the primal elements themselves, what we call upon when we use our elements. The quiet gentleman is the part that separated everything, kept us apart."

"So... what are you?"

"I'm the one that puts us back together." The Kra-Toa again sank to his knees, his hands glowing with a shadowy aura. He moved his hands, and the orbiting mask with a penumbral aura grew closer; mirroring it, the other mask also closed in. The vortex and the faceless toa were herded together.

"I will always be there. Every crawling, lingering thought."

"Yeah, I figured as much," the Kra-Toa said, as all four entities merged into one shimmering being.

The other toa of Shadow arose. "We are out of time." He looked at the horizon; as the sun set, the world was falling away. He also joined the shimmering being.

The toa that summoned illusions seemed to lose his steam. He looked at Ardoku, Tekmo, and Oreius. "I'll remember you all. Count on it." Then he turned and stepped into the aggregate.

The Kra-Toa dropped to his hands under the strain. The Skorm matoran ran up to him and hoisted on arm around his shoulder. Together, the two went to join the glowing being.

"We'll find you in the next world," the Kra-Toa stammered out. He was at the end of what his fatigue was allowing him.

The av-matoran looked back and smiled at the three toa. "That's a promise."

As the world fell away, Skorm was again whole.

IC: Tekmo (The Great Temple)

Ground level.

Tekmo wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but something had changed, and it was most certainly not a change for the better. As Skorm became one, it seemed the very universe was coming apart at the seams. Thinking swiftly, Tekmo isolated the sole refuge he could find. "Quickly! Inside the Temple! NOW!" He ran towards the Temple's door, nearly stumbling over himself a few times, and gestured for the others - Ardoku, Oreius, and yes, even Skorm - to follow.

Hope would survive. He would make sure of it.

Would he?

IC: Waveahk (The Coliseum, Floor 46)

High above.

Waveahk, for the first time in a long while, felt relaxed. He also felt something had changed, but... he slouched in his chair. It didn't matter. He knew he'd have to fight tooth and nail to earn the trust of these machines, let alone those who controlled them. But as long as he still breathed, he would submit to this city. But with his mutation worsening, he didn't know if he'd be breathing air or water by the end of it.

He would survive. He would make sure of it.

Korruhn.

IC: Ostrox (The Cortex)

Deep below.

Ostrox could tell something had changed. He wasn't sure what, but he knew it couldn't be good. If his navigation was guided purely by his imagination - then he imagined the way out. He remembered the flesh corridor spilling noxious gas into the Coliseum's maintenance tunnels. Sparing only a small glance to check if Irna was following him, Ostrox walked forward, adjusted his respirator, and stepped out of that accursed place.

Mazor would die. He would make sure of it.

No-one escaped the Six Kingdoms.

IC. Okuo - Tuyet's Grotto

Okuo nodded and got to work, utilising his mechanical skills to replace the power cord which Sidra had severed. But then the whole place started to rumble, and for a moment he looked around with worry apparent on his featuers. "I don't know what the Karzahni is going on, but I've a feeling we should hurry."

IC: Matrak - Ko-Metru

Free of the chains which had strangely held him despite his powers, Matrak stood up, looking at the strange new beings which had joined the fight against the cruel warlord he himself opposed. "I do not know who you all are, but I am thankful to not be alone in this fight."

And then the world started to unravel.

IC: Arkius - Archives

For a brief moment following the warlord's leg being shot, Arkius glanced Nale's way with a mixture of surprise and betrayal. The next he realised all of Mantax's goons were calling off the duel to kill him, firing their weapons his way. He'd be worried if he hadn't faced worse odds before.

Activating his Calix, Arkius' movements became fluid and impossibly graceful, dodging and leaping out of the way of incoming projectiles as he made his way to cover behind a particularly tall pedestal which tanked the incoming fire. From there he went over his options. He had no armour, nor his axe, and he could feel his earth abilities lingering at the edge of his reach, understandably so considering the stunt he'd pulled earlier. Not that he regretted it.

The only regret Arkius had as the Archives began to tremble was that he hadn't killed Mantax yet.

IC: Iradra - Coliseum Grounds

Iradra watched as the scene unfolded before her. There really wasn't much more she could do, her and Datrox had only arrived in time to Kohara and Zataka fight Kalmah before the two titans fell through a portal that closed behind them, leaving the warlord's severed arm on the ground. As the Vahki escorted Kalmah's soldiers away, Iradra approached Kohara with a worried expression. "Sister, are you alright? I am glad to see that you are safe, though I wish the circumstances of our reunion were better."

Her gaze broke from her fellow toa of light as the world began to break apart around them.

IC: Ardoku - Great Temple

As the world began to fall apart around him, Ardoku wondered about the road that had brought him to this point. The many lives he'd seen fade away before him, colleagues, brothers and sisters in arms, friends, family even, neighbours turned against each other in a desperate bid for survival. He'd seen the League destroy communities, slaughter thousands of innocents, all in an attempt at eradicating worship for the Great Spirit.

His thoughts drifted to the times he lay awake at night, wondering what the ultimate conclusion of the Legion's campaign would be. This world was the Great Spirit's. No matter how many believers they eradicated or had swear off their faith, the world was of the Great Spirit. Would they try to wrench the universe apart to destroy every last vestige of Mata-Nui? Ardoku observed the world coming apart at the seams and for a brief moment wondered if this was it. The Legion's ultimate plan come to fruition. The complete eradication of the Great Spirit through the destruction of the universe itself.

He then turned around and followed Tekmo into the Great Temple.

IC, Kohara: Coliseum

Kohara nodded. “I’m fine, but...” she began to say.

Then the world began to fall apart.

Kohara looked around with a shocked expression. “What in the world is going on?!” she exclaimed.

IC, Atamai: Cavern

The group began to feel a great tremor. Atamai quickly stood up. “I don’t think that’s normal,” he said. He looked at everyone in the cavern. “Want me to get us out of here?”

IC: ThomOnu-Metru Archives

Ditching the firework revolver and throwing it to the side as it was completely empty of any ammo it would have left, Thom calmly reloaded his revolver in enemy fire, everyone else having sprinted to cover to avoid the onslaught.

Miraculously, as he leaned and dodged in slow-time, projectiles and zamors seemed to curve around him, some managing to graze him but none doing much significant damage at all. The Skakdi yanked his weapon to the side, the cylinder closing as the Archives began to rumble around him. He knew something was coming, he was too ignorant to know what but he understood the world's time was coming to a close. Some of the soldiers looked like they were sensing it too, though only a few resisted their fury to try to retreat to a safe space.

His moment was interrupted violently, however, with a horrible crack reminding him of his fall a few moments before. Blood poured from his chest (which was beginning to wrench itself open again, having been forced ajar by the Skakdi's sharp movements) as he ended two more lives with his weapon, fatigue and injuries beginning to rack up. An acidic zamor splashed onto his leg, forcing him to his knees with a pained yelp. Flesh melted away, yet he managed to fire again, blasting a slug through a Mantan's chest cavity.

The rumbling was getting even more intense, now. Thom only had seconds left.

The trouble with being in an occupation such as the Skakdi's was that, like he explained to Nale, he was left with nothing once the dust all settled. At least, in theory. There was plenty Thom was thinking about as Mantax approached him, though. The siren he'd seen on the ship, the horrible monster that he'd vanquished. Pardehi, Rose, the ancient being who'd set him free. Maybe he'd meet him again, in the next life. Maybe not.

Vyarik and Waveahk, his fellow assassins. He hoped they were still alive.

And Nale. Whoever she was to him, now. He'd done as she'd asked, in his own way, and they were now even. At least, he thought so. It wasn't like Nale could argue debts to a corpse, in any case.

All these individuals who he'd insulted, fought with, fought alongside. Not friends, but the experiences he had with them gave his life meaning. Perhaps that was just as important. A shame it had taken a failed suicide attempt and an imminent planetary destruction to figure that out.

Thom grinned a reddish-stained grin at Mantax. The titan loomed over him, the brutally finite amount of time they had left having absolutely no effect on the Barraki's demeanor. Was he at terms with the apocalypse that was about to occur?

The Skakdi opened his mouth fully to speak, but was cut off by the ensuing oblivion.

OOC: And with that, the world ends for Thom Arkkan.

IC Stannis | Le-Metru tower

No sooner had the Companions emerged from the tunnel and into the sub levels of the skyscraper did the world begin to shake, tremble, and rattle incessantly. The others looked towards Stannis for an answer or assurance, thinking that maybe the boring he'd done had unleashed something terrible, but the Wanderer shook his head somberly. "This is... not my doing," he said. And then, to the befuddlement of his friends, he cryptically added, "It's the Universe."

There was not much time left—for anyone—but he needed to make sure Ehlek did not quarrel with him or Mata Nui in this life or the next. The wheel would continue to spin but the foul dirt that clogged and affected its tread could still be cleaned. Would be cleaned. He surged ahead, leading the others through the disaster like a guide.

The trip up the tower was made easier, though no less dangerous, by the cataclysm occurring all over the City of Legends. Merfolk attempted to prevent their assault, but their clumsiness on land was made even worse by the constant quaking. After being ruled by a man of science for as long as they knew, the events unfolding were nothing less than biblically apocalyptical, and their defenses were haphazard by that point. There were too few traps to ensnare Stannis and his friends inside the tower; the sling traps were defunct, the elevators were jammed by shafts gone askew, and the marbles were scattered across the floors among the rest of the debris. The largest threats were the collapsing masonry and crumbling infrastructure that crowded the floors like flotsam and jetsam after a storm.

They took the stairs at first, and when they could not Stannis created stairs by punching through the ceiling and making a ramp of stone. Each level was the same, and occasionally they would pass by the gory remains of piked matoran who attempted to hold the improvised citadel against the cruel warlord, and the Wanderer gave a cursory blessing to them as he passed by, vowing to give a proper burial and vengeance soon enough, and then forged onwards and upwards again with his characteristic unerring assuredness. When they passed by windows they could see the chaos spread elsewhere, and the ominous changes in the twilight sky as the stars came and went and moved, and they felt the eerie sensation that they were slowly going adrift upon some cosmic lifeboat. There was no time to ponder, however, and Stannis kept the chase up as best he could; even as his elemental powers seemed to grow feebler and harder to summon with each application and his legs ached with every step as though weighted, he was unwavering in his determination to see this one task to its end. He took one last opportunity to program his Kanohi Haonga, knowing the end was just around the corner, and muttered its command as he led the way.

Finally, they breached the topmost suite of the tower. It swayed worse than the other floors, the effects of the shaking magnified by the length of the tower like the tip of a whip, but among the confusing destruction in the spacious section they spied the diminutive Barraki and his Hordika lieutenant. Stannis recognized her immediately, as he possessed a dossier on her and all the other leaders of the Six Kingdoms, but his attention was singly directed at Ehlek. He came closer to them, his friends spread out behind him on guard for surprises.

Stannis' great grey eyes gleamed with cunning satisfaction. "At end of the world we meet again. I've been waiting a long time for this moment, my little, green friend."

IC: Sidra - Tuyet's Lair

"You fought so hard to get here, and now you're running away?" Sidra sneered, clinging to the cavern wall to steady herself as the world rumbled around her, "Typical Toa. You think the world will be shaking any less if you go somewhere else?"

It crossed Sidra's mind far too late that bringing down the cavern would have been a great way to stop the machine being used. Maybe in another timeline...

IC:

Was this what the end of the world felt like?

IC: Zecrillia - The Coliseum

In the Coliseum, Zecrillia clung to Dume's desk as the world abruptly rocked, as if it was contained in a snow-globe in the hands of an uncautious child. She lost her seat, landing on her rear on the floor, her hands slipping across the delicate controls and causing Metru Nui's architecture, where it was still intact, to shift precariously. There was no longer anyone else in the room of whom to ask what was going on, she had been left on her own; and scrambling back to her feet to look over the screens only showed her what she could already feel: that the whole world was falling apart.

She didn't try to flee. There was nowhere to go, there was no escape.

Instead, she clung grimly to the desk, her nimble fingers working across the controls, doing what she could to contain the uncontainable damage. If the Coliseum collapsed in the world's end, Zecrillia knew that it would take her with it; as much as she wanted to preserve her precious designs, to preserve her life, she was sure there was no point - no matter what anyone did, there was no surviving through the end of the world.

So, if there was no point to self-preservation, she would remain here, doing what she could. Zecrillia had no great love for the Matoran, but nor did she have any dislike for them; they simply weren't all that relevant to her usually. So she continued working, trying to channel whatever damage she could away from the civilians, away from where people had still been living and working and clinging to the last traces of their old lives. Because if it came down to a choice between dying in vain, or doing some good even while the inevitable came for her, she determinedly chose the latter.

IC: Jabali - Le-Metru

In Le-Metru, Jabali struggled and stumbled over the bucking, rocking floor. The last few minutes had already been particularly rough on her; her eyes still stung and streamed from the pepper gas, she had been too disoriented to control her fall well as Stannis had led them down under the street, and she had proven herself unable to keep up with the running Toa, lagging only a little ahead of the famed warrior as her far shorter legs simply didn't allow her to match the pace Vashni was setting. What she'd thought she was doing, Jabali was no longer sure she knew; by the time she caught up, the Toa would have cleared out Ehlek and she would just have been a burden; nonetheless, though, she pressed after them as best she could. Then the ground had started roiling, giving a sensation like nothing so much as if it was collapsing beneath them, as if the very world was caving in on them. She put on extra speed as Stannis blew past her, forcing herself to keep going even though her breath burned her throat and every step felt like it would be her last. By the time she caught up, the fight was already not so much underway as thoroughly taken care of, and she continued to traipse after Stannis and team until they reached the top of the tower.

Couldn't they just have collapsed the whole thing with Ehlek still inside?

There were two beings at the top of the tower, one of whom Stannis was singling out as Ehlek; but Jabali didn't waste any time looking to see who they were, or who was doing what. In what she was certain were the last moments of life as she knew it, she hefted her Vorzakh staff and sprayed erasing bolts across the Barraki and his lieutenant. If any hit home, their targets would be turned into mindless shamblers, with no mental capacity for anything greater than basic motor skills, for enough time for her companions to put an end to this fight.

Then the tower shuddered again, even more violently than before. The Po-girl lost her footing completely, crashing to the ground, as what was to be perhaps the final battle of the universe raged around her, in those last few minutes before everything ended.

IC: Varxii - Ko-Metru

In Ko-Metru, everything was chaos. Varxii had fought off Pridak's chains as best she could, and had time to think up a clever retort for him in the meantime that was right on her tongue... but had failed to notice the Cordak rockets heading for her until it was far too late to avoid them. Even as she dodged out of their immediate path, the world around her had seemed to explode, hurling the Vo-Toa as if she were a rag-doll; for what felt like far too long, she was unaware of much, save that her flight had been abruptly stopped by something considerably hardier than she was.

Finally, dazed and disoriented, she had pushed herself back to full consciousness to behold a scene of mayhem. The battle still raged; Pridak was nowhere in sight (though Sans was turning something into an unrecognisable smear beneath his massive elbow; and had she been less dizzy Varxii might well have put two and two together); but worse, far worse, was the way the world was inconceivably crumbling around them. The ground beneath them, the knowledge towers above, all the way up to the sky, seemed to fracture and break, and Varxii found she had no words, no words at all to begin to describe the sheer, nightmarish sense of what was happening--

Had Pridak's mask of creation been broken? Was it, as whispered legend suggested it might, destroying the fabric of the universe as a result?

Still clutching to her chest the mask of the Matoran whose dying moments had driven her to take her stand against the League - though it was now missing one of its pieces, Varxii noticed with a pang - the Toa scrambled and stumbled her way up to the final moments of conflict. She registered nothing, save the fracturing world all around them, and the presence of her allies, who she just wanted to reach before--

Before--

She grasped onto the shoulder of the first Toa she found in her path, barely registering who it was. Her eyes, wide with uncharacteristic fear, sought their own.

"What's happening? WHAT'S HAPPENING?"

It was the last thing she remembered before the whole world seemed to cave in on itself, and she simply clung to that brother or sister Toa's shoulder for dear life as the universe spiralled into oblivion.

((ooc: Possibly not even relevant: but anyone present who wants can be that Toa Varxii approached in the last few moments. In any case, that's the last post from me in here; thanks for the great ride, everyone!))

IC: Nale Vella - Archives

Her aim was true, but it was only after the shot had landed that Nale realized what her actions had caused. The Archives erupted into chaos as Mantax's soldiers fought for their leader's honor, in the face of both her and Thom interrupting. And Thom, Mata Nui--even after all that had happened, seeing him die before her only served to make Nale's stomach turn. Arkius shot her a look that made her feel like she did before, on board the Taku--that same feeling of a child being caught doing something forbidden, and a sense you'd failed someone.

There was no time to explain herself. As she lowered her rifle and moved to avoid the League's own counterattack, the ground shook, and this time it was clearly not Arkius' doing. Something large and cosmic was happening that they were all too small to contend with. She wanted to rush over to the Onu-Toa and embrace him, and tell him something important, because at the end of the world, where else do you want to be but in the arms of--

A tremor knocked her off already-wobbly feet, and she fell on her rear. Her rifle landed somewhere nearby and was crushed under falling rubble. The reality was beginning to set in. A change was happening, and the normalcy she'd hoped would return after the League's defeat would be farther and farther away now. Nale wondered, for a brief moment, where he was during all this. Had he perished on a far off island during the League's campaign? Had he returned to Metru Nui, and possibly crossed paths with her, and she just didn't notice?

It didn't matter, what mattered now was whatever came next.

IC: The Swordsman Datrox Karvan - Coliseum

I braced against my sword to stay standing. For some reason, I wasn't frightened, at least not as much as the crowd of Matoran, or my Toa comrades. Perhaps this was the League's doing, or some form of rapture...yes, maybe this was God, and we were merely at His whim...

Was it time for my sins to be counted?

I looked to the sky, resolute and still as a statue amidst a crumbling world.

IC: Jutori - Ehlek's Tower, Le-Metru (Last Call)

Jutori didn't know what was going on, but clearly they had little time left to take care of their quarry. He stood beside Stannis, sledgehammer drawn and ready to smash, even as things came undone.

"It's over," the Ba-Toa said in an attempt to be dramatic, unaware of how accurate he was.

OOC: Last post for Nale and Datrox this game (Idlyx is somewhere off-screen, chilling), it's been fun. Not sure we'll get around to finishing up Ehlek or the Ko-Metru fight, but either way...we made it to the end.

IC: Zaliyah - Le-Metru Skyscraper

"You're on the wrong side of all this," Zaliyah said, stepping forward to firmly place herself between the intruders and Ehlek. Her weapons - Rhotuka launcher, Herding Blade, and the Vorzahk's Staff of Erasing - were held at the ready, though she hoped she wouldn't have to use them, "The world is changing - now more so than ever, apparently - you could all be a part of that change instead of standing in its path."

She glanced towards the balcony, beyond which structures were starting to topple, their foundations weakened by Stannis' earlier tunnel-making. Zaliyah hoped there hadn't been any Matoran in those buildings; it would be a shame to lose the leverage.

It took her several long moments to force herself to look back at the Toa. Rage burned inside her at the sight of them, so righteous, so self-assured, so confident in their conviction that they were the heroes of this story. But she forced the anger down, buried it with The Id in the confines of her segregated psyche. There had to be an end to the senseless slaughter. The Toa needed to see that they stood on the wrong side of the line. Maybe then the universe could finally be unified.

"You call us criminals and conquerors, and no doubt you have even worse words to describe the likes of me... but that's only one side of the story."

IC: Vashni -  Ehlek's Tower, Le-Metru -

Vashni looked at both Ehlek and Zaliyah, seeing the Hordika actually troubled her quite a bit. She could feel the rage and hate coming from her...so much pain.

Vashni had the power to restore the Hordika to what she'd once been. Her mask, the mask of mutation, could reverse any mutations inflicted on others. Vashni had once been troubled by the fact that she'd been gifted such a strange mask, but over time she realized that it could be used for good just as easily as it could be for evil.

"If you could go back to how you once were, would you?" She asked the Hordika, actually ignoring Ehlek for now.

IC: Zaliyah - Le-Metru Skyscraper

She had faced her fair share of pity and revulsion, denigration and hatred from other beings in the time since her transformation. For a moment, she thought Vashni's words were more of the same... until she saw the other Toa's mask, and realised what it was.

A part of her was tempted.

The thought of returning to what she once was, to shrug off the weight and pain and rage, was excruciatingly alluring. Finding a way to reverse the effects of the venom had been her sole thought for months after her mutation. Even after she'd accepted her new form, the thought had returned, time and time again. A small, vain part of her longed to return to who she'd once been, to go back to the naive simplicity of her old life.

But her old life was gone. She'd seen to that.

So she dismissed the thought now, just as she had in the past.

"Your offer is a kind one, but changing how I look won't change me back to who I was," she finally replied, offering a grateful, saddened smile to the other Toa, "This form gave me perspective. I've seen things, done things, that I never would have if I hadn't been mutated. Changing me back won't change that."

Changing her back wouldn't change the reasons she now stood in between the Toa and the Barraki.

IC Kilo-M9 - Archives:

Grell’s attempt at firing acid was interrupted by a sudden shot from the side. Her zamor sphere flew off course as her life left her. The mechanical enforcer looked for the source of the shot, noticing Thom and Nale providing covering fire. There was brief moment of shock from the Mantan soldiers before they raised their weapons to fire. That moment gave the machine time to reach for a disc in its side compartment.

Ideal moment has arrived. Enemies are distracted or injured. Allies require support. Target still lives.

New mission: Kill every last one of them.

Activating speed disk. Overclocking limb motors. Setting energy bubble launcher to full auto. Releasing safety limiters.

Beginning assault.

Before the assembled soldiers had a chance to respond to the sudden betrayal of honor, the protodermis protector was already letting loose a barrage of energy bolts from its tail. The first volley struck one of the kikanalo mounts in the group of troops. The bubble expanded from the rahi, knocking down two of the soldiers flanking it who weren’t expecting such an effect, while the unfortunate rider was forced up by the sphere of energy until he was unceremoniously crushed between the wall of energy and the ceiling of the cavern.

Mantax had managed to recover from the shot to his league and was moving towards Thom. The skakdi was firing upon the troops, ignoring the hits he took in return, but soon enough the damage caught up him, and the skakdi was struck down by the angered warlord. The lead Mantan tossed the spear of fusion to his liege. Mantax extended an armored hand to receive the weapon.

Metal fingers closed around the shaft of the spear, as Mantax turned to see the machine holding the relic. The barraki’s eyes widened as his leg was sliced open. The warlord was forced to look up at the red eyes looming over him.

This spear does not belong to you,” was all that was said between them. The spear plunged into Mantax’s eye socket, continuing forwards until there was nothing left to pierce. Mantax’s troops halted their fire for a brief moment as they observed the demise of their leader. The steel sentinel walked around the fallen warlord, twisting the spear in his head until a final crunch was heard. As the barraki’s body fell, the battle resumed.

Blasts of various sources flew around the chamber. The machine dodged when possible, blocked with weapons when needed, took hits when there was no other option. With the power of the speed disc, there was no escape for the Mantans. Some were cut down, other stabbed. One was encased in a bubble, only to be released to fall onto the machine’s blade. Smoke was beginning to emerge from the former law enforcer’s joints.

Joints losing integrity. Overheating in limb motors. Structure losing stability.

The assault of the machine was stopped briefly when one of its legs broke off, the metal connectors no longer able to withstand the increased kinetic energy. What few troops were left trained their fire on the fallen machine in hope of remaining alive. One of its eyes was shattered by an incoming shot. Holes appeared in its armor as it was pelted. The troops closed in, assured of their victory.

A sudden rumbling in the cavern prevented their victory. Not used to earthquakes, the former forces of Mantax were thrown off balance by the tremors, trying to find their footing. Despite only having three legs remaining, the machine’s experience and lowered position gave it the chance to take momentum. It launched into the cluster of warriors, tackling them to the ground. The machine bore down on them, stabbing and cutting until there was nothing left alive.

A quiet descended in the cavern, despite the increasing rumbling. Kikanalo that had been bubbled were released to fall to the ground unconscious. The machine stood alone in a field of blood and bodies. Parts of the ceiling were beginning to fall down around it, but the sentinel didn’t attempt to dodge. It couldn’t move even if it wanted to. As the cavern collapsed around it, there was only one thought in its head.

Mission Complete.

New Objective: Survive

IC: Tuyet | Cavernous Warehouse

“I don’t know what’s happening but I’m staying,” Tuyet said as the world began to crumble around them. “I need to fix this machine. Maybe there’s a change to like, reverse this or something?”

She really wasn’t hopeful about that, but she was certainly going to try.

“Go on without me. Just… Give me the disks.”

IC: Barraki Pridak | Ko-Metru, Ice Bridge Battle

Sans’ megaton slam crushed into the ice as Pridak slipped aside in time to dodge the aerial dive. As the giant turaga’s form waned the impact from his larger self forced a crack into the ice bridge which splintered into a shallow divide, but it was enough to cause an instability and with the same sound of a breaking glacier the ice bridge broke in half. Pridak yelled and howled in rage as the portions of the bridges separated and began to fall. He disappeared into the gap between the buildings, a growing rift at the end of the world. The last thing the defenders of Metru-Nui saw before Pridak vanished was his outstretched hand and his glowing mask.

IC: Ehlek | Le-Metru, Ehlek’s Tower

“I’ve tried to be fair with you creatures, you filthy little matoran of the land, I really have, but now my patience has reached its end.” The spiny barraki showed off a red button, and pushed it, and a strange device descended from the ceiling intent on electrocuting his foes.

“You have chosen death!”

OOC: I will rewrite these if needed.

Happy chat.

IC: Skyra - Ko-Metru -

As Skyra recovered she watched the fight between the Turaga and the warlord. She was honestly impressed with how the Turaga was holding his own so well. When the bridge started to collaspe her eyes widened.

"Rose! I'm gonna save the weird blue Turaga real quick!" With that Skyra's jetpack roared to life again as she made a beeline for Sans, scooping him up even as he began to fall with the warlord. Sans wouldn't die today.

Skyra flew back to Rose once this was done, Sans in her arms. "Heyheyhey...you alright there old timer?"

IC: Vashni -  Ehlek's Tower, Le-Metru -

Well, she had to offer, apparently the Hordika was fine with how she was, there was nothing else to say. They were enemies, but Vashni still had wanted to help her, even if it didn't completely make sense.

As for Ehlek, well #### him. Vashni glanced at him and activated her mask, even as the barraki started to activate some strange device she focused her mask's power on him. She willed his gills to mutate into air breathing lungs. "You're never going to enjoy the sea again, warlord..."

IC: Okuo - Tuyet's Grotto

"Alright, well I'm not leaving without seeing this through either. That machine needs to be fixed." Okuo turned to Atamai. "If you can get it out of here, we might be able to fix it without worrying about an early death by cave in." He turned to Tuyet expectantly.

IC: Sans, Bridge of Ko-Metru

Sans could feel his form receding, and locked eyes with the Barraki leader- who evaded the attack.  "How? No..."  Sans felt weak, then the currents of the wind rushing past his face as the bridge gave way and both Takean and Turaga descended into the dark depths of the cold unknown.

Sans couldn't leave it up to fate to end the threat of Pridak once and for all, nor could he allow this apparently stolen legendary Kanohi be scavenged by some future evil-doers.  Now almost back to normal size, Sans swung his staff up, smashing into Pridak's panicked jaw.  A few pointed teeth flew out as the Mask of Creation was caught on the end of his staff.  Sans brought it to his chest and clutched it as tight as he could.  "Whoever wants this mask will have to pry it from my cold, dead hands..." Sans used the last of his elemental reserves to coat his hands and the mask in a thin, watery gloss.  In time, Ko-Metru would freeze the two together, and in an even longer time, someone would have to pry the Kanohi from those cold, dead hands.

"I'm sorry Korruhn, and Leklo, and Taja, and Aradra... You'll all make worthy Toa... Remember me, and remember to laugh, huhu..hu..hu.." Sans' mind started to fade, and maybe so was the world.  The skies were changing, and the quaking sounds of shifting earth and ice rose from the dark depths to greet him.  Maybe the world was crashing, too?  Or maybe it was the kind of tricks one's mind plays when death is near.  But, Suddenly, Sans was... rising?  A Le-Toa had snatched him up.  He rested for the moment while they soared through the chilly air.  Below, the League forces were scrambling, and his Toa friends were chasing them back.  Sans landed on a rooftop, now with a Le-Toa and a Ta-Toa.

"Heyheyhey...you alright there old timer?"

"I am now... thanks to you, brave... Toa.. of.. Gas.. huhuhuhuhuhu..." Saved from death, and having witnessed the end of Pridak and the scattering of his armies, Sans allowed himself to slip into sleep.  He dreamed of spicy wings, lizards in a pool, and a land that never knew war....

IC: Nale Vella - Archives

She got on her hands and feet, fighting against the trembling floor, then slowly stood. Amidst the collapsing Archives, Kilo had managed to decimate Mantax's soldiers and even down the warlord himself. Nale made her way over to the damaged machine, passing by Thom's body, and crouched beside the Kralhi.

"Can you...still function, Kilo?" she asked the machine, glancing over at the corpse of Mantax, the spear stuck in his head.

IC: Rose - Ko-Metru

Rose stood over Skyra and the Turaga.

"I think he's senile, hun. Oh well. That's another warlord down, at least! Things might be looking u--" the Ta-Toa was interrupted by the district shaking.

"...huh, that's not good."

OOC: I forgot to tag in my previous post what Stannis programmed his Haonga to do. UN forgave me, but I'm still sorry—it wasn't my intention to be secretive. In any case, the ability is as follows: "Grant me the power to alter the material composition of any nonliving solid item or items I see within a range of fifty bio into the equivalent shape made of a material of my choosing. Amen." Basically, a lot like Reo's mask in the BZPRPG, which I have always been so fond of.

IC Stannis | Le-Metru tower

"Wrong, Ehlek," Stannis admonished, raising his hand up as if to pause the warlord's thought. "I have chosen life. I have chosen rebirth."" He looked up at the noisy contraption hovering above them, and at the snap of his fingers turned it into an odd crystalline chandelier. It rocked back and forth for an instant before the hydraulic arm, now made of brittle glass and suddenly incapable of supporting the device, broke and the contraption fell to the floor beside Stannis and shattered into ten thousand shards that soon flowed like water to the side of the chamber listing downwards.

"Now, Lieutenant Zaliyah, what do you choose?"

"Hey, don't fall asleep on me...well dang." Skyra sighed. "Where's that triangle guy...we need a medic..." Skyra noticed the mask that the Turaga was still clutching, it looked kind of important, but she left it alone for now.

IC: Arkius - Archives Massacre

Arkius clambered to his feet, bruised from the beating he'd taken from the Warlord and the Steltian Brute before him. As the earthen toa looked from around his cover, he saw an utter bloodbath, and the machine responsible standing almost motionless in the midst of it, even as chunks of the Archives ceiling now started falling around it. He looked from it to Nale, and saw her knocked off her feet, rubble crushing her rifle. He had to do something. Arkius took a deep breath. He closed his eyes. He began pulling inwards, trying to meditate as he had been taught (read: had knocked into his skull repeatedly) by his turaga, trying to get back in touch with his element. If there was a time for his energies to miraculously spring back to him, now was that time. He needed to save Nale, whom he recalled having left things unsaid. He needed to save Kilo, who despite everything being stacked against them had secured their victory in the Archives. He couldn't let them die. Not after all that, everything they'd fought together, everything they'd been through.

If there was a time for his energies to miraculously spring back to him, now was that time!

But Arkius had never been good at meditation. Even during his last sessions with Turaga Yamdra, he'd never really gotten the hang of this whole introspective connectivity with his element. It just came naturally to him, like breathing air, or walking on the ground, or wielding his axe. He'd always known how to do it. So why was this so hard for him? Why couldn't he just connect with his element now and save his compatriots? Why did this have to be so hard?!

He momentarily opened his eyes. Nale had made her way to Kilo, and here he was standing uselessly doing nothing. Why couldn't he save them?!

Why couldn't he save him?!

Arkius opened his eyes. The image of a toa of stone flashed before his eyes. It felt... familiar. He'd seen him before, he knew him. But he couldn't remember him. But there he was in his mind's eye as he prayed to the universe itself for the strength to save the lives of those he'd fought alongside. As he reached deep inside desperately, clawing at his core for any semblance of his own strength, anything at all, he followed that memory. He remembered the dream, the dream he'd walked with Vashni, the dream where he'd experienced versions of himself he didn't remember yet recognised as if they each were a mirror reflection of himself he'd seen a hundred thousand times over. He pulled on it, delved deep for it, tried to connect with what he had been...

A silver Pakari flashed before his eyes, emerald eyes staring into his soul from behind it. He opened his eyes. And as he looked about, he could feel the earth around him pulling at him. Tugging at his very core. And in response, he pulled back, and pushed, and held it. As Arkius raised his arms, the collapsing ceiling of the Archives began to halt its crumbling, the earthen toa walking from where he'd taken cover to join his two surviving compatriots, the strain on his body clear as day as every muscle on his unarmoured body flexed in exertion.

"We need to get out of here. Now!"

IC: Zaliyah - Le-Metru Skyscraper

"I choose progress. I choose real rebirth," Zaliyah spat, raising her weapons. Hopefully whatever troops of Ehlek's were still lurking around her the good sense to do the same. "I choose to fight for a world of equality and respect, instead of one where the weakest species is held in the highest regard."

IC, Atamai: Grotto

”Well, I can try,” Atamai said. He put his hands on the machine, closed his eyes, and imagined the plaza of the Coliseum. He concentrated,  and... nothing happened.

He sighed. “Looks like it’s not happening, Okuo. I’m sorry. And I can’t reprogram the mask yet since the fifteen minutes aren’t up.”

He looked at Knichou, Okuo, and Tuyet. “If staying here with the machine is your choice, I respect that. I need to get back and make sure everyone’s okay. I also need to get these Matoran out of here. And you too, Dark Hunter, even though I should leave you here. Don’t try anything funny though.”

He motioned to the Matoran. “Come on, don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you.” He said. The Matoran looked at him uncomfortably for a moment, then one brave individual walked over and grabbed onto one of Atamai’s legs. Soon the others followed.

After everyone who wanted to leave had grabbed onto him, Atamai nodded curtly at those who chose to stay behind. “Good luck,” he said. He closed his eyes, and concentrated on the mental image of the Coliseum plaza. Then, in the blink of an eye, he and everyone who wanted to leave vanished from the grotto.

When Atamai opened his eyes, they were standing in the Coliseum plaza. People were running around, screaming.

Atamai found himself in the middle of an apocalypse.

OOC: @Nato the Traveler @BULiK Wasn’t sure if either of your characters wanted to stay or not so I wrote this post in such a way that Sidra and Knichou could stay behind if they wanted to.

IC: Knichou, Tuyet's cave/warehouse/what

Knichou had been deep in thought when the quakes came. The end times were here. They were running out of time. While the others argued behind him he continued to repair the control circuitry of the device.

"I don't know what the Karzahni is going on, but I've a feeling we should hurry."

Truly ironic that they would run out of time to get this machine online.

“I don’t think that’s normal,” Atamai said, looking at everyone in the cavern. “Want me to get us out of here?”

Knichou continued to solder.

"How much can you take with you?! How many people?!"

Knichou knew all the fixes required to undo Nuparu's sabotage, but this was taking longer due to some minor damage from the scuffle and needing to repair things that were unintentionally broken by the matoran when they tried to reverse engineer and fix it.

”Uh, I’m not sure, I didn’t specify a limit when I programmed the mask, so I might be able to take everyone at once, if I concentrate...”

Knichou pinched out a glob of the nanites his armor was made of, placing it inside the damaged circuit.

"And the machine?"

Knichou sat on the rumbling floor, typing into a panel on his armor to quickly program the nanites to do what the missing circuitry would have done.

"You fought so hard to get here, and now you're running away?" sneered the dark hunter, "Typical Toa. You think the world will be shaking any less if you go somewhere else?"

Ignoring the taunts of the dark hunter, Knichou closed the metal covering of the control panel and turned it on, reading the diagnostics that displayed on the screen as the device checked the status of its components.

"At least we won't be situated under a cavernous roof that could collapse on our heads, genius!" Okuo retorted in a frustrated tone. "But please, be my guest, stay here and see how well you like the ground shaking overhead when it comes crashing down on you!"

Everything was checking as expected - the conversion matrices were offline, but that was to the next part of Nuparu's sabotage. That should be the last step.

“I don’t know what’s happening but I’m staying,” Tuyet said as the world began to crumble around them. “I need to fix this machine. Maybe there’s a change to like, reverse this or something?”

Tuyet's casual wording continued to irritate Knichou given the severity of their predicament. But she was right to not know how to fix this. Knichou hoped she would be wise enough to find the way, but he would always have his doubts.

“Go on without me. Just… Give me the disks.”

Sidra was right about one thing for once. There was nowhere to run now.

Atamai nodded and handed Tuyet the disks. “If that’s what you want.” He looked around the grotto. “Anyone who wants to get out of here, grab onto me.”

Knichou knew he had to stay and face whatever was coming next, and thus stayed silent.

"Alright, well I'm not leaving without seeing this through either. That machine needs to be fixed." Okuo turned to Atamai. "If you can get it out of here, we might be able to fix it without worrying about an early death by cave in."

Knichou was inside the ring of the device, hurriedly unscrewing and switching the converters upside down at the base of each pillar.

”Well, I can try,” Atamai said. He put his hands on the machine, closed his eyes, and nothing happened. Atamai sighed. “Looks like it’s not happening, Okuo. I’m sorry. And I can’t reprogram the mask yet since the fifteen minutes aren’t up.”

Knichou continued to listen while quickly connecting the right wires to the right sockets.

Atamai looked at Knichou, Okuo, and Tuyet. “If staying here with the machine is your choice, I respect that. I need to get back and make sure everyone’s okay. I also need to get these Matoran out of here. And you too, Dark Hunter, even though I should leave you here. Don’t try anything funny though.”

Try anything funny? The dark hunter? When has that ever happened?

Atamai motioned to the Matoran. “Come on, don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you.”

It was only now that the matoran were gathering to teleport with Atamai that Knichou turned away from his work to address his companions.

"Okuo, you can leave, your destiny is elsewhere. I can repair the device myself. Whatever world awaits you after this disaster will need new heroes."

Knichou turned to lock eyes with Atamai. He walked over to his fellow Toa, placing something in Atamai's hand.

"I hope you don't need to use this. But in case I..."

Knichou's voice trailed off, struggling to find the right words.

"You're an archivist, you know the importance of preserving knowledge and the legacies of legends."

Inside Atamai's grip was Nuparu's memory crystal. Atamai wasn't sure at first why he might need it - all the details to repairing Nuparu's machine were known to Knichou, and would be irrelevant after this conflict was over. Perhaps there was more hidden there than Knichou and Stannis had divulged when they were traveling to the coliseum. Before Atamai could respond, Knichou continued the goodbyes of his makeshift will.

"And if you see Kanohi, tell him..."

Knichou thought for a moment trying to choose his words a bit more carefully than usual.

"Tell him you don't need to be a Gukko, even the smallest of birds still soar through the skies."

Knichou took a few steps back, ready to resume the repairs. He gave a loose two-fingered salute at his fellow Toa of Iron.

"Seeya 'round, brother."

Atamai nodded curtly and gave a quick response of “Good luck,” before vanishing into thin air. Knichou turned to Tuyet.

"The machine's almost ready. Are you?"

OOC: Leaving it open so @Onaku can choose to get Okuo out as well.

Limbs unresponsive. Motors jammed. Overheating throughout chassis.

Cavern has ceased collapsing.

Allies are assisting. They could have escaped.

Inefficient for their survival. This unit requires their help.

Getting assistance...

The machine slowly turned its one functional green eye to Nale, joints creaking from the effort.

Limbs unre-responsive,” the garbled voice explained. “Regeneration disc, back left compartment of unit.” The mechanical machine inclined its head behind it. “Retrieve detached limb. Use disc. Reatt-attach. Repair chassis. Retrieve spear. Escape archives. Limited time.”

It was all up to Nale and Arkius now.

IC: Okuo - Tuyet's Grotto

"Thanks, but my destiny is my own. Besides, I can still help here." Okuo turned to Atamai and everyone teleporting with him. "Good luck, all of you."

When Atamai and the matoran left, the warehouse grotto felt just a little bit emptier. He gave a quick mistrustful glance Sidra's way, but then turned back to Knichou and the machine. The odds were three to one. He would help here any way he could.

IC: Nale Vella - Archives

She quickly searched and grabbed the machine's lost leg, replacing it at its connection point before taking the regeneration disk from its compartment and hitting it against Kilo. She didn't wait to see the repairs begin working, she immediately hefted the machine up and began leaving.

"Arkius," she called out to the Onu-Toa, briefly pausing to look him in the eyes like she was about to say something else, "grab...grab the spear. Hurry!"

With that, Nale ran out of the crumbling Archives with Kilo and, presumably, Arkius in tow.

IC: Nale Vella - Archives

The structure continued to rumble and shake as the trio made their way out, exiting through the hole Arkius had made prior and finding themselves passing through the Archives' gift shop as a shortcut, kikanalo plushes scattered around the floor by the quaking.

Once outside, the extent of what was happening became obvious as buildings fought to stand, and Nale wondered if this was truly the end times. She turned to Arkius, icy blue eyes meeting his. "I think...there's no better time than now to tell you what...what I was going to say before...I know we haven't known each other long but in that time we grew...closer, and...we're comrades but I think we're...well I want us to be..."

She shook her head. The words weren't coming out right. A tremor almost caused her to fall, but Arkius caught her in his arms and the Fa-Toa found herself with her head resting against the taller man's chest, her audio receptor picking up his rapid heartbeat. Both of them blushed and Nale tucked her hair behind her Kakama.

After all she'd been through with Datrox, and after seeing what Arkius could do in the Archives, would she be wise to try something like this again? Metru Nui was crumbling around them, and it seemed like there'd never be a chance for something like this again, however.

Perhaps sometimes you had to take chances.

Looking up at Arkius, she said, "Well, I suppose this would say a lot more than words..."

Standing on her tippy-toes to accommodate for the larger Toa, Nale wrapped her arms around his neck and planted a kiss on Arkius' lips. She pulled away to stand beside him, taking the Onu-Toa's hand in hers and watching as buildings fell.

"...it was nice knowing you, Toa Arkius."

OOC: "...you've met me at a very strange time in my life."

IC: Knichou, Tuyet's place thing

Knichou, while waiting for Tuyet's response, gave Okuo a confused look. Knichou had given his fellow Toa the excuse to leave this admittedly dangerous scenario, he expected Okuo to leave when he had his chance. The repairs were almost complete, and once they were done, there wasn't much more Okuo could do besides stand around, watch to see what happened, and hope the ceiling didn't give way.

IC: Taja | Ko-Metru

Taja watched in horror as Sans's impact broke the bridge, sending both Pridak and the Turaga tumbling down to the cold streets far below. She reached out a hand as if she could somehow will gravity to reverse its terrible pull, but she was no Ba-Toa. Desperate, her concentration lapsed and she accidentally opened the conduit too wide, and her elemental energy came forth in a torrential burst of sound that seemed to shake the very earth beneath her feet. A long, low, rumbling note sounded, pulsing until the air itself seemed to wobble. A few League soldiers nearby staggered to their knees, their bones vibrating under their skin.

Clenching her fists, Taja wrestled the sound under control, abruptly cutting it off. She looked up and her heart leaped as she saw Sans suddenly airborne, carried out of the chasm by a strange Toa of Air. In her relief, it took her a moment to notice that the deep, growling sound was still shaking the ground. She frowned and looked within herself, but it wasn't by her power. The entire world seemed to be trembling of its own accord, shuddering like it was in pain. A booming thu-thump echoed underneath it all like the beating of an ancient heart brought suddenly to life; almost too low to hear, she felt it more than she heard it.

Then the skies changed again, and she thought would have been used to it by now, but she wasn't. Last time, the stars had simply rearranged themselves into new constellations; this time, the blue sky faded to be replaced by night, and the darkness was studded with thousands of strange stars whose names she didn't know. They glittered in the darkling sky, whispering of new prophecies yet to be deciphered, and their language was foreign to her.

The shaking grew stronger and the Toa of Sonics fought to keep her feet. The knowledge towers shivered around her; as the quakes grew more intense, their foundations failed and the sound of the crystals cracking and splintering filled the air like the music of chimes over the bass line that still rumbled underneath. They began to fall one after another, tilting slowly and then falling quickly before smashing to pieces on the frozen ground. The wisdom of the stars lay in ruins around her, all the scholars' knowledge reduced to piles of broken ice.

A final, violent movement finally knocked her down; it felt like the entire universe had been suddenly wrenched out of place. A vast crack! boomed through the world, like the breaking of a colossal neck. The stars whirled overhead, their alien constellations reduced to smears of light. Stomach churning, Taja closed her eyes tightly; she felt like reality itself was gyrating wildly, like she was on an enormous merry-go-round that was spinning out of control. She reached out with her powers, trying to listen for anything that might make sense out of the chaos, but everything was drowned out by the deep, rumbling song whose words she did not understand.

Once again, the stars had changed, and now fate had set them all on another path. The song of the future was sung by different voices. Destiny had undergone a great and terrible rebirth.

IC: Tuyet
"Fuse these please, Firespitter." She handed the Great Disk of Clairvoyance and the Great Disk of Ta-Metru to Okuo as Atamai took half her minions to somewhere hopefully far away. She didn't envy him suddenly adopting fifty newpurparus. He'd learn to be a good dad someday for them though. Knichou seemed to be close to done on the repairs. It surprised her how quickly the engineer could make the time machine serviceable again. Making four of the Great Disks Of Time appear she began slotting them into their sockets along the ring.
"So, once this thing lights up I'll probably vanish. You're gonna need to get to like a safe place soon okay?"

IC: Ehlek
He tried to breathe, water filling his throat, and suddenly he began to drown. Inside his rebreather Ehlek struggled and cough, bubbles of air rushing to the front glass of the helmet. His long clawed fingers scraped against the lip of the helmet, pulling on the clasps that held its watertight seal like a pressure cooker. A yellow film of deep sea water mixed with stimulant chemicals splashed to the ground as he cast the helmet aside, gasping for air as he fell to all fours. The Barraki shivered and shook as his new lungs took in air and released air. Each breath became a horrific and morbid exercise for Ehlek. He'd seen land breathers gulp before, and found himself trying to copy those memories. Large gulps of air went in, and coughing water filled splutters came out. His eyes were unused to seeing the world without a curtain of water and a glass sheet. They blinked rapidly.
He stared at Stannis and his companions, terrified of whatever dark magic they'd used. No technology could do what just happened. And then he ran. He ran to the balcony's edge and jumped, his arms saving wildly in the sky as he plummeted.
Before the toa of Zaliyah could respond, before they could rush to stop him, Ehlek was gone.
Or so they thought.

Happy chat.
