IC: Exuze, Relic Fields

As soon as Xaril disappeared, the lesterin went to work cauterizing the Toa's wound with the heatstone. He was just glad that she was sedated AND unconscious - if she was awake it would be excruciating. This certainly wasn't the most well-done operation in medical history, but perhaps sealing the wound with heat would be enough to stop the bleeding for long enough to get the Toa to a real doctor, who could sort through the mess Exuze made later.

Exuze picked up his balled up cloak and put it on. He then grabbed the Toa from underneath her armpits.

"Sure. Take 'er legs," he said, lifting the Toa with the Vortixx's help. The duo carefully carried the Toa up the ramp and into the Crimson Galleon. Exuze shivered as the gaping maw of the mechanical monster engulfed him. They set the Toa down on the lower deck, not worth carrying the limp body any further than was necessary. Exuze didn't wait for anyone - as soon as the body was on the deck, he was checking it over to ensure that she was still alive, and that they hadn't reopened the wound and caused the bleeding to resume. He didn't feel the need to say goodbye to the Vortixx. From his guess, she wouldn't have cared either way. Plus, focusing on the Toa made it easier to not focus on the fact that he was now in a league-controlled airship headed straight for Metru-Nui.

IC: Knichou, Kini-Koro Hillside

Whisper and Taja were leaving? So soon? A shame. Maybe Knichou would have to seek them out once this next operation was planned. At least Vulimai was back, she was needed to help plan the aforementioned surgical strike

"We've been able to build a lot in a short time, there's a lot to see. Also, whenever you've finished your tour, Stannis, Kanohi and I will need you and Vulimai's help with planning a mission."

Knichou decided to leave further details for later - best to not spring the idea on them while they clearly wanted to do other things. After all, Stannis hadn't actually been in the Koro yet, so that was overdue. For now, Knichou followed Stannis along. There had been enough business this morning - time to take it slow for a bit.

IC: Xaril - Relic Fields

He glanced at the prone Toa as the pair carried her on board. Her wound was fresh; she clearly hadn't been here long. Whoever had done this to her surely couldn't have gone too far in this terrain. But keeping this Toa and whatever knowledge she carried with her was a greater priority than pursuing her attacker.

"There are chairs and hammocks on the next deck up," he offered. "It might be more comfortable for her there. Or I can bring something down?"

IC: Reliable Narrator | Irnakk’s Tooth

You are all my kind.

The voice came from his memories, Marrow realized. It was not a telepathic or spoken voice he heard, but instead it was a strange deja vu. He remembered standing in the dark, feeling the warmth of fire on his face and smelling burning bodies. He heard the voice then in that nightmare years ago. Strangely, the nightmare had involved several skakdi from above ground, but here he was all alone with a god. Perhaps it really was just a dream.

Misled. Astray. Waking up. Not as you should be. To kill a monster, you must make a monster… or become one yourself. I fashion the dream. You live the nightmare.

Marrow felt a hot breath on his neck, and a cold grip wrapping around his shoulder. It was larger than he expected, and far stronger. It brought him to the point of almost crying out in pain, but when his hand instinctively rose to grab at the attacking hand there was nothing there.

Wake up, Marrow. You have always been mine. You will always be mine.

OOC: Marrow has learned the “rite of the tahtorak,” and for those traveling down into the Nightmare Pits, please describe what terrifying visions of their past, present, or possible future they might encounter. Strangeness abounds! @Nato the Traveler, @pokemonlover360, @Vezok's Friend, @EmperorWhenua, @Tarn, and I apologize if I forgot someone.

IC: Reliable Narrator | Relic Fields

With Xaril's assistance, Niidak and Exuze found themselves having a moment to breath before the airship took off. The toa they'd half carried and half dragged from the wall she'd been crushed into onto the airship still breathed, albeit faintly and quickly. They were running out of time.

OOC: @Daniel the Finlander, @BULiK, @Nato the Traveler, time's running out. This NPC needs healing or she's toast.

IC: Marrow (and minions) – Irnakk’s Tooth

The rumble of a powerful impact somewhere outside sent a thrill of panic shooting through Marrow, cutting deeper than any of the trepidations that had plagued him during his descent. It was even stronger than the awe and dread that came with the grim knowledge that Irnakk had just bestowed upon him.

He tensed, waiting for further sounds or sensations, but nothing more came. The silence was almost more unnerving than the cacophony he’d expected. The warskaks weren’t the sort to stop with a single shot fired. What was happening up there?

“I… thank you…” he stammered, rubbing his numb shoulder. “I should… I have to go. My people need me.” He turned his back to Irnakk’s pervasive presence and began moving away from the pit, towards the tunnel entrance…

* * *

Little was spoken between the four Mesi as they ran ever deeper into the mountain. Having spent their entire lifetimes living underground, they had no issue navigating in the dark… it was what waited in this particular dark that troubled them.

As her feet skidded down coarse stone steps and crunched down upon gnarled rahi bones, Opal felt fate hounding her heels. The ceiling behind her collapsed in a constant cascade of dirt, and she fled from it as desperately as she fled from those that had attacked them. The avalanche of anguish swallowed the screams of those too slow to escape it, leaving Opal alone in the memory of her worst day. The day that the only Onu-Skakdi in the party had panicked and ran instead of trying to stop the tunnel from collapsing.

She’d failed them. All of them. Then and now.

Marrow had given her a chance when no one else had, and she was failing him as well.

And then she heard it. A weak whimper, somewhere just behind her.  She rushed desperately towards the sound, feeling the flailing hand of a prone figure strike her shins. Gently, she reached down to take the hand in her own…

* * *

The walls closed in on Hakkzan as he scrambled and screamed, feeling the fetid breath of Shagrak’s progeny upon his back. His brother was at his side, the two Ta-Skakdi’s hands intertwined as they manifested flames in midair and sent them screaming back towards the monolithic maw of the monster pursuing them.

And then the beast struck. Hakkzan heard his brother’s bones crack, felt his grip go slack, and then he was torn from his grasp. Hakkzan was flung against the tunnel wall as the sandworm simply rolled past him, crushing him into a crevice in the rock as it continued on its way. And then the beast was gone, and the weakened tunnel it left in its wake trembled, then tumbled in on itself, burying Hakkzan.

What felt like hours later, hours that were spent unable to move, barely able to breathe, they finally found him. Friendly hands broke through the wall, taking his hands and pulling him out of the dark…

* * *

While the others walked in the dark, Scarrow and Weaver walked in the light. They’d banded as the nightmares began to take hold, merging their powers of psionics and sound in an effort to dispel the illusions. It was an imperfect effort – the searing sun still stung at Scarrow's skin, and Weaver’s every uneven step was harried by the jeers and insults of the warskaks who’d once held her captive – but the horrors were weakened, and the pair pushed on.

They soon came upon Opal and Hakkzan, clinging to each other as they struggled to walk forward. Scarrow and Weaver expanded their shield of sound and mind to cover their companions, warding away the worst of their woes. Together, the four pushed on through the pain and panic, picking up the pace as they renewed their retreat…

* * *

Marrow’s dread grew with each tentative footstep he took into the tunnel. Irnakk lurked beyond the opening behind him, the entity's expectant presence seeming to mock him. The knowledge the monster had given Marrow wasn't worth the lives of his comrades. The thought of losing more followers – more friends – without him even being there to try to save them was horrifying beyond any nightmare this place could throw at him.

So it was a welcome relief a few moments later when the sounds of panicked footsteps and panting breaths wafted towards him from the bend. Soon he could discern the familiar sounds and auras of his four companions.

“What happened?” He asked, rushing to join them. “Are you alright?”

“We’ll survive,” Hakkzan coughed, his unsteady voice betraying how shaken he was. “Physically at least.”

“An airship…” Weaver panted. “Fired… as soon as it saw us… we had to leave the Reprisal…”

“The mech doesn’t matter,” he replied. It was a lie, somewhat. Attacking Fort Nektann would be more difficult without the armoured support, but that was a problem for later. “Who attacked you? How many?”

“I only saw the one ship, no idea how many were on board,” Scarrow spoke up. “They fired from long range, but if they landed and came in after us straight away, they might only be a couple of minutes behind… depending on…”

“...depending on how they fare against their fears,” Marrow finished. “We’ll take them here in the tunnels.”

He grinned, though the gesture would be lost to most of his company. Though Irnakk’s Tooth was a world apart from the Underhive of the Mesi, the darkened alcoves of the mountain’s tunnels weren’t very different to the domain they knew. No matter how many enemies came, their numbers would work against them in the enclosed confines, especially given how shaken and uncertain they were sure to be after the nightmares. Not to mention the obvious benefits to the Mesi of having Onu and Ta Skakdi on their side inside an active volcano.

Squeezing against the wall to let the others shuffle past him, Marrow then took Opal’s hand, combining powers with the Onu-Skakdi to manifest a series of barriers and snares – a half-dozen chest-high tangles of packed earth and woven roots for cover, and sporadic patches of loose dirt and ankle-high vines to trip up the unprepared – along the length of the tunnel between their current position and the towards the next tunnel bend in the direction the attackers would be approaching from.

“Marrow… this place…” Opal said quietly, “We saw… felt… things on the way down here.”

“I know. None of you were supposed to face that,” he grimaced. “It was my burden. But whoever attacked you is flesh and blood, and that’s something we can face without fear.”

The thickest of the barriers formed directly in front of where the five Mesi stood, and Marrow crouched behind it alongside his heaviest hitters, Opal and Hakkzan, with Scarrow and Weaver hanging back just around the corner behind them. Their elemental powers were close to exhausted from the fight against the nightmares; they were going to be of little use in the fight to come.

Marrow set aside his macuahuitl and readied his cudgel. There wouldn’t room enough to wield the bulky weapon in these confines if it came to a fight. Hakkzan trembled at his side, and he gently laid his hand upon the Ta-Skakdi’s shoulder.

“The dark is our domain, and you do not stand alone it in,” he whispered. “Our kind have survived the very worst that this island has to offer, endured things that would rend the flesh and break the minds of those who dwell above and call themselves our betters. Whoever is coming for us, we have no reason to fear them… they should fear us.”

And with those words, the five Mesi fell silent, as they waited for their enemies to arrive.

IC: Niidak (Relic Fields)

”Sounds too risky to carry her up,” Niidak said, catching her breath after carrying a limp body. ”You should hurry, her heartlight is dim and blinking.”

It felt inappropriate to start asking any questions from the League member. Perhaps she’d get answers some other time. She turned around and left the ship, but glanced at the stranger she had encountered in the tower.

”Good bye, and good luck. I actually think you can save her.”

Soon she had disappeared inside the tower. Inside, she hoped she wouldn’t find any more dying or living individuals. Salvageable scrap would be much more preferable. She started methodically exploring each layer of the building, rummaging through piles of waste and rubble.

IC: Exuze, Relic Fields, The Crimson Galleon

The lesterin gave the vortixx a nod as she left the airship. At the very least, she helped to an extent, but he wished she did more. Maybe she wanted to, and didn't know how. Exuze didn't know much either, and by doing everything to save this Toa and investing himself in the outcome, he had a sinking feeling in his gut that all it did was make it hurt more if she didn't make it. As the ramp raised for the airship to take off, sealing Exuze and the Toa inside, Exuze's robotic arm quivered.

He bundled up his cloak and used it to elevate the Toa's legs again. The Lesterin knelt down to inspect the Toa. Her breathing was even more faint than before, barely audible over the hum of the engines of the ship. Exuze cursed. This situation was looking even more grim. He called up to Xaril. "Toa's even weaker. We don't 'ave time ta get ta Metru-Nui! There's an outpost to the southwest, much closer than across tha lake. I know a healah there, goes by the name 'Triage'. Head there and we might have a chance. Call 'im up on the radio, let 'im know we're coming so they can prepare!"

Exuze searched around him for anything, anything that could save this Toa if they couldn't find a medic in time. He had long since wracked his brain for every rahi power he knew, hoping one  could somehow help heal this toa, but his repertoire of tricks was of no use for this task. He hoped that was anything in this cargo hold that could help him. A robotic vahki on the deck silently watched him in his search.

"Vahki! is there anything on this ship that could help her?" He asked in desperation.

IC: Parnassus | Fort Nektann

Shadow parted around Parnassus' form as one hand reached for the grey hilt that hung from their belt -- Corrivalis' multiweapon -- but they did not draw it. Before they could lay a single finger on the weapon, another hand was laid on the demon's shoulder. The hand of another old warskak, who knew the ways that his elders often thought, and the ways in which they must be handled. Detsu, son of Retsu, shook his head slowly at Parnassus -- and Parnassus, reluctantly, raised their hand in gesture towards the departing Drukarus.

"Drukarus," Detsu said quietly, approaching the aged Skakdi with footfalls that seemed too quiet for anyone in the fortress. "If may speak?"

IC: Skorm (Muaka, Fau Swamp)

Skorm had a slight smile on his mask as he let Irna and Kei have their moment. He continued steering the vehicle through the swamp. A strange sensation pricked at the edges of his senses, and he stuck his hand out the window, and he felt it like raindrops: radiation. They felt like pinpricks, physically harmful to his shadow half. Wincing, Skorm withdrew his hand and altered course.

"I think we've been drifting west, correcting to the proper course, headed straight for the landbridge."

IC Kanohi - Kini-Koro

Kanohi turned as Vulimai approached, and bowed on shaky legs. Kanohi had not spoken to her much, but she was clearly capable, running a much bigger village than Tobduk-Koro, and doing it all by herself. That sheer pressure, the responsibility to manage so many lives, Kanohi would crumble before it.

As he looked back up he winced. Get mask was a rusted hue, another Matoran empowered by Whisper. It was not uncommon in Kini-Koro, even a few such Matoran lived in Tobduk-Koro. It … it was not his place to judge, and he tried not to. His discomfort was more in the rough textured of a desecrated mask. His hands could practically feel the awful texture.

Drumming his mask armor, Kanohi spoke, “G-Greetings, Akiri Vulimai. I am sorry for our sudden appearance, but Councilor NU and I need to discuss some issues with you, ideally in private.

OOC: @Toru Nui @BULiK @Tarn

IC Minions Avka and Bode - Tobduk-Koro

Bode walked among his field, each step generating more weeds. With each step he leaned against his shepherd’s crook, supporting himself and his bedroll. Following him was a his flock of Mahi, his only friends left in the world. And that was by his own hand.

He shook his head, he had his penance and Master Ulkarr, that kept him busy. So he guided his flock across the fields of Tobduk-Koro, his sensors listened in. Despite his desecration giving him power over plants, he still possessed the breed quirks of a De-Matoran. He could hear plenty even from his fields, ready to share with his Master or any villager.

Bode could also hear movements in the field, movement outside of his Mahi. But he knew that sound, it was not an immediate danger to him. just a guard monitoring him.

Indeed, some ways a way an Av-Matoran sat crouched, clutching two knives carved from Mahi horns. Their armor had shifted to brown and green, letting them roughly blend in with the rocky pasture. A muted brown hood was pulled over their mask, and what little of their mask was visible was a jagged green color, and poking underneath this Infected Mask were a pair of glowing eyes.

Avka watched over Bode, it was their shift to watch the weakling. Well, he was stronger than most Matoran they supposed, but Desecrated or not, they were only a De-Matoran. Nothing like the Matoran of Light; the noblest and most powerful of Matoran. All he could do was listen, and too many noises could overwhelm him. His own power was his weakness.

Bode was a little better than most De-Matoran, they supposed. But the cost of reaching above his breed was to be monitored by guards, loyal guards from Noble Matoran. To make sure he did not murder another and attempt another Desecration. The price of trying to be more like his betters.

Still, Avka could respect his ambition. That desire for a noble destiny. And he had only killed a Le-Matoran, it wasn’t like he killed someone useful like a Su-Matoran. Though there was no way a lesser Matoran like Bode could have killed an Av-Matoran. And despite his arrogance to raise above his element, at least he had not been fool enough to try.

OOC: anyone want to interact with these minions, there you go.

IC: Nektann, Tahtorak of Loss | Spiriah's Labyrinth

Rain falls

Thunder booms

I walk amidst

Knowing nothing

But what I leave behind

And where I am going

I will leave behind

Nothing

IC: Nuju | Kini-Nui

He watched Ostrox stare at the portal, then walk away. Nuju blinked.

"Peculiar," he muttered to himself. Mantax's people were often considered stoic, with an unimpeachable sense of honor. While they lived by a code separate from matoran, Nuju respected their kind. Although, if he were being honest, his respect was born from lack of interest rather than ignorance to the cultural practices of Ostrox's kind.

"He'll be back, I imagine," Nuju muttered as he stared into the rift to the Far Shore. He watched worlds swirl and crumble before his trained eyes, and he felt drawn to enter, but the Makoki Stone held him rooted and he did not leave. He hoped Sala and Sorilax returned soon -- a month was a very long time to be lost in the Far Shore.

IC: Reliable Narrator | Relic Fields

The sounds of the airship diminished into the distance, leaving Niidak alone once more to scavenge. Niidak found her search rewarding after another hour. In the center of the ruins scattered throughout the fields was a small outcropping of exposed stone. Atop the outcropping she found a resting hoverbike of Le-Metru make. While someone had already pulled out the driver's seat and scavenged the kick stand, the hoverbike seemed in good enough condition to drive.

OOC: @Daniel the Finlander, Niidak has found the bionicle equivalent of a small moped. Feel free to add it to her profile as a vehicle.

IC Mahrika - The Suva of Fire

Ollem grunted and stepped aside, and Mahrika winced. She had hoped to have the chance to help solve the puzzle by like, pushing something into place. She wasn’t great at puzzles, she had been of little help in the Suva of Stone, and in the Ruins of Water she had only been helpful by half-remembering pieces of Tren-Nui culture. Solving the puzzles, that was Ollem’s strength.

Still, she would try. The Desecrated G-Matoran heaved her new azure sword onto her back, almost topping g from the weight before her balance adapted again. As she swung back upright she caught sight of her feet, and winced.

Listen, Ollem, I do not need these boots really. My feet, well, the heat doesn’t seem to hurt me much. Maybe it’s because of my Kanoka,” she lied as she began to squeeze off the Boots, “but I know the heat has taken its toll on you. So here, take my boots, they should offer at least some padding between you and the ground. Besides, with your longer legs to can kick farther than me, and run faster too.

She placed down the boots besides him, even as her feet began to shift. Her toes became thicker and more padded, her heel widened and grew callouses. Until Mahrika stood on her own bare biomechanical feet, the raw heat and rough terrain of the landscape barely noticeable.

Finally she approached the puzzle. “Vokarda, Big Brother, please guide me,” she mumbled, as she swept her telescopic lens across the Suva.

IC: Drukarus (Fort Nektann)

Drukarus mentally admonished himself for his outburst, how he felt so compelled to anger the he even used his vision power to assert his dominance over Parnassus. Though he did not regret placing the demon within its place, for he had so far found little reason to respect the rusted devil, the fact that his steely resolve had broken and revealed weakness, gave Parnassus a potential tool to use against him.

It was this curse, this boon, that Caedast had given him. Though it granted him great insight into the nature and desires of others, it made it harder for Drukarus to hide his own nature and desires. Truly a double-edged blade it was, one that he sold his life for. All in the name for his kin.

"Drukarus, imay speak?"

Turning towards the voice, Drukarus faced the elder Skakdi, Retsu. They were old, but nowhere near as wizen as Drukarus himself, but their current calm demeanor was a surprising contrast to the reckless fury Drukarus had witnessed during their duel. "Yes Retsu? What is it you care to share?" Drukarus said, maintaining his usual stoic speech.

IC: Vulimai (Kini-Koro)

"...Also, whenever you've finished your tour, Stannis, Kanohi and I will need you and Vulimai's help with planning a mission."

Watching Toa Stannis and Toa Knichou walk off, Vulimai was about to follow up, asking about what sort of 'mission' had been discussed without her and what sort of input the sage had to share upon it. But before she could ask, she was warily approached by Kanohi.

G-Greetings, Akiri Vulimai. I am sorry for our sudden appearance, but Councilor NU and I need to discuss some issues with you, ideally in private.

Turning towards the Fe-Matoran, Vulimai offered both him and the squad mother that walked behind them a respectful nod. "Councilor Kanohi, Councilor NU-8020S, I'm assuming this mission was suggested by you two? If we require somewhere of private to discuss this, we can probably borrow Toa Stannis' airship for this discussion." Vulimai said, gesturing towards the Ampling Alp.

IC: Xaril - Crimson Galleon

"Set us on a South-West heading, and bring me a radio," he ordered the Vahki, which swiftly scuttled away to carry out his commands. He took a quick glance around the hold, sifting through the equipment and other items stored within until he came across a sealed case marked with a red cross. A basic first aid kit, probably intended for the original Matoran crew given how comically small it was in his hand.

"Maybe something in here will help," he placed the case beside Exuze, before moving up to the ladder to receive the radio the Vahki was bringing down to him.

The ship was now moving swiftly south-west, though Xaril wasn't certain how well the radio would work through the mountains ahead. Hopefully whoever he was trying to reach had a decent reciever set up. "This is Xaril of the League of Six Kingdoms, inbound towards your settlement. We have an injured Toa on board and are seeking the assistance of the healer named Triage. Does anyone copy?"

Tuyet had said it was one-of-a-kind, that it came from a place between time. Maybe this was the real one, the original. "...to repair it. IC: Niidak (Relic Fields)

Niidak's extensive searching bore fruit when she found a hoverbike that was almost intact. Its resale value was good, and she could make it even higher by fixing it up a little. However, so far she had lacked a transport and had to travel along the dangerous island on foot. She considered keeping the vehicle for herself as it would certainly make her job easier.

She climbed on top of the outcropping and investigated the bike closer. It seemed functional and even had some fuel left. Somehow, it felt newer than the decaying ruins around her, yet it definitely hadn't been brought here from elsewhere. She turned on the bike, making it hover, and tested it out by driving off the outcropping. It still hovered high enough to not hit the ground as she descended. Of course, lacking a seat meant it wasn't particularly comfortable.

She drove a short distance to the nearest ruin, then hopped off again and continued scavenging. If she was going to keep this bike, she needed to find something else to sell.

IC: Bronk (Ko-Pou)

The outpost was under full lockdown, as per Vulimai's orders. The portal itself having been placed under heavy guard on both sides, with the Matoran guards within the ruins each reading for the worse. Patrols, scouts, look outs, all were being kept busy around the ice ruins as another small contingent were keeping watch over the infected Matoran. Though 'peace' had been established with the League, and the airship didn't yet seem to exhibit any hostile intent, fear and uncertainty still ran rampant through the Matoran who survived the bombing from a month ago.

Twesh was located within his usual perch, having been loaded up with additional Le-Kanoka disks in the event the worse would come. Bronk for his part was doing his duty, checking on patrols, ensuring everyone was geared up and that their gear was in best shape. Walking through the first inner chamber of the ruins, he was quickly approached by one of the guards, a radio in hand.

"Sir, we're receiving a transmission from the airship, its headed towards the outpost."

Silently taking the handheld radio, Bronk listened to the incoming message.

"This is Xaril of the League of Six Kingdoms, inbound towards your settlement. We have an injured Toa on board and are seeking the assistance of the healer named Triage. Does anyone copy?"

Pressing the button after a brief hesitation, Bronk responded. "This is sergeant Bronk of Ko-Pou, we're receivin' ya and have established visual. Toa Triage is not present but another healer may be available. Over." Releasing his thumb, Bronk turned towards the other Matoran Guard and informed them to go and retrieve Toa Iradra from Kini-Koro.

IC Kanohi - Kini-Nui

Kanohi nodded, “I think that could work. We may need this small ship anyway.” As he began to walk towards the Ampling Alp he hesitated, drumming his staff. He … he needed to bring this up, and once the mission was discussed, this would no longer be the priority. He should talk about it first.

Akiri Vulimai,” he said, not yet inside the ship, “I … I do have a question, unrelated to this mission. How are the ill Matoran doing in K-Ko-Pou? Are they not just getting treatment, but d-do they have stuff to do? Like puzzles, or games? So they have outlets to let out stress and have fun, and to exercise their brains and bodies? I am probably describing this wrong but it … I don’t think they should be locked up like specimens in the Archives.

IC Mahrika - The Suva of Fire

Mahrika stared blankly at the rings, before leaving the interior of the Suva to stare at the three statues. She paced back and forth, looking at the statues, and the rings. She struggled to see a solution. Was she just Kohlii headed? The colors should just pair with each other, right?

Then she felt a thump in her chest. Mahrika froze, muttering, “Guide me, my heart.” And Vokarda seemed to thump again and again against her torso, striking four times. Four, what would that number mean? She looked around, she was besides the Muaka statue, the fearsome predator staring down at her. Four … what could it mean…

Then her telescopic lens narrowed. The part of the statue that was made of red soapstone, it was the Muaka’s four largest fangs. Could that be a part of the clue? She ran around to the other statues. Two cream horns on the Bull, and one long green tongue on the salamander. Four, two, one.

Okay, four for the red, two for cream, one for dark green. Maybe that’s rotations? Like, maybe we turn the center red ring four times until it aligns with its statue, then turn the creamed ring twice, until it faces its statue, and turn the green ring only once?

It was, well it was only a rough idea, but it was a start. Mahrika admittedly was not sure if there was an order she was meant to turn them in, or if some were meant to be clockwise or counter clockwise, but for now she turned them all clockwise. Would this work?

IC: Detsu | Fort Nektann

"My father's name was Retsu," Detsu said, smiling lightly. "Although I have been told by older warskaks 'round here that I look an awful lot like my old man. Same way he might've looked an awful lot like his old man, and he might have looked a lot like his old man....

"Point is," the warskak continued, "is you stick around a lot, you tend to see some patterns in folks. Others -- and I've read about this in books, you know? -- talk about arr-chee-types that people fall into. Y'know, the hero, the scoundrel, what have ya. IC: Irna | Fau Swamp Borders

Irna nodded, slipping Keitara's arrows into her quiver and leaning out of the window. The Zyglak, inured to the effects of the maskbearers' elemental abilities, did not feel the pinpricks of radiation that afflicted Skorm's shadow-self so. Instead, her eyes wandered across the dark horizons of the swamps, looking for any glimpse of their friend Tekmo in the wetlands. If they had any luck -- which seemed to be in short supply lately -- they would find him on the landbridge to Kumu. That was where the four of them had meant to traverse anyway. She could only hope that Tekmo had stuck to the plan.

IC, Atamai: Kini-Nui

”Well, my elemental powers have gotten much stronger,” Atamai began. “The Po-Metru Great Disk has also become a part of me, as did my Haonga. The most important thing, though, is that I’ve become the chosen pilot of a kaita ACR, named Malhukuraia.”

He continued walking with the Wanderer, his spear making light thuds on the ground.

“It seems like the main purpose of the Great Disks was to designate who would pilot the six mechs. The mechs themselves were designed for combating giant Rahi born from the volcano. We’ve already had one show up, and I’m sure there’ll be more on the way.”

IC Kanohi - Kini-Nui

Kanohi winced, “that … I know I am naive, sorry. Just, well, well we all know I am cross-wired,” he looked away, drumming his staff, “I … Metru-Nui … when I fled to the city of legend, it hit me my home was gone and I had a panic attack and that scared the guards… well, it took a month before the Vahki released me.”

And that month was … not fun.

I … I don’t want the sick to feel like prisoners. Or like they are monsters. I-it’s not their fault. And even if they aren’t proper Matoran, they are still people. I just I want them t-to be…

He sighed, “I know, I am naive. I apologize if I seemed judgmental, I am just projecting I suppose.

IC Stannis | Kini-Koro

"Fascinating.

This knowledge tugged at some ancient memories in Caedast. She—and by extension Stannis—knew and remembered the scarcest things about the kaiju, enough to remember their names and connect the dots as they were mentioned on the walls of the ziggurats and pagodas in the south, but to know that the purpose of the discs, the very same that had been the point of Dume's scavenger hunt on Metru Nui, was to be used as tools against the kaiju was a novel sentiment. It made sense, however. From the conjectures and anecdotes the the disk searchers had given Stannis in the wake of the apocalypse, the discs were not of Metru Nui or the Ark and were from somewhere else entirely. Leklo spoke of a red banner, Atamai and Jutori of other things, sigils that were not known to the Wanderer as belonging to Mata Nui's artificial paradise. If all things came back to Xa, it would be perfectly sensible that all things came from it, too.

"These beasts will appear again. They persist on this land and are as much a part of its natural ecosystem as the fishing birds, hapaka, and the nui-jaga, but they embody so much more power than anything else. Anything, save for beings such as you. It is a lot of strength to be bestowed; do you feel it is appropriately yours?" he asked, a certain tinge of patronly concern coloring his tone. "And, who else among you has been given this honor?"

IC: Triage - Metru-Koro Ruins

Triage fumbled with his crew radio in surprise as he pulled it out of another side pocket on his satchel. The signal was coming through a bit fuzzy, but the important things stood out clear as day to the medic as he listened. League. Injured Toa. In need of assistance, and from him specifically. Was he famous now...?

"This...is Triage," he replied to the voice coming through his radio, albeit hesitantly. "We're in the old settlement, Metru-Koro, near the plaza. It shouldn't be hard to spot two Toa from the sky. After all, we're the only people here."

"Very well, adjusting course," he gestured to the Vahki above him. "Take us towards Metru-Koro, bring us down in whatever clear area you can find."

He left the radio beside Exuze as the ship altered course yet again, so he could communicate with Triage on the ground if he wished.

IC: Vulimai (Kini-Nui)

Vulimai was about to the answer Kanohi's question, when Toa Nale interjected, more or less stating what Vulimai was about to say. But as Nale gave her explanation on how the afflicted Matoran were being treated, Kanohi seemed to break down upon himself, rambling about his own failings and troubles. It was a sight that reminded Vulimai of her many fellows back during rehabilitation, of how many of them would just sink in on themselves, like Twesh, one of the few that still remained from those days.

Placing a hand on Kanohi's shoulder, Vulimai spoke out in a gentle tone, one surprising for the usually hardened and serious commander. "No Kanohi, your sympathy and wish for knowing the afflicted's wellbeing is a noble act. I promise you, that we are doing whatever we can for them. We are providing them with all the basic necessities they need to live, as well as allowing any from the village to visit them under watch. Though they may not be Matoran as we know, they are still my charges and I am doing everything to ensure their safety. So do not degrade yourself councilor for being concerned about them."

With a smile, Vulimai turned back towards the ramp, taking a few steps before turning towards those remaining, her face returning to the same business-only serious expression, "And for those of you concerned with this mission, follow me so that we may begin this discussion." And with that, Vulimai boarded the Ampling Alps.

IC Drokk - Ash Barrens - Coast:

The walk back was long, and arduous, but not overly complex or interesting. The Fe-Skakdi Matron stood now on the beach, staring out at the water, and beyond, to the tower. She was not a boat builder, and there was no wood in a condition usable for such things even if she were. She frowned, pondering her problem and what possible solutions she could use to solve it.

IC: Drukarus (Fort Nektann)

"Detsu! I could've sworn this one was Retsu...Or is my memory at last failing me? Or perhaps yet another edge to this deal with Caedast..." The warlord thought to himself, shocked at his own simple failing of mind. Perhaps it was more than his body that has suffered from the times.

But regardless, Drukarus listened to Detsu's words and solemnly nodded, surprised at the stark contrast between this wizen fellow and the reckless warrior that he had fought. Perhaps he misjudged this one's value and quality. Perhaps even...If given the choice...This one wouldn't even have been a warrior; may haps they could've been a poet, or an Arthur, or even a simple scholar.

"--they tend to push at their elders, you know? 'Specially when they're scared."

Drukarus gave a final nod in agreement to Detsu's words, as his eyes momentarily locked with Parnassus, though the same intrusion from before was not present within them. "If he is afraid of me, then he is a wise snake...But as long as he keep his fangs in check...he will not have to truly fear my own." Drukarus said, flexing the Tahtorak's Maw before turning his gaze towards Detsu, a calm look within his eyes, "Tell me Detsu, for I am curious...If you could, what would you be? Besides a warrior amongst Barius' warskak?"

IC: Knichou, Kini-Koro

Knichou looked behind him while he walked beside Stannis and Atamai. Nale, Kanohi, and Vulimai were re-entering the Ambling Alp? Perhaps Kanohi was getting a head start on explaining the mission. The commander was sure he'd hear about how it went from Nale when he returned.

IC: Exuze, The Crimson Galleon

Exuze nodded in thanks as Xaril gave him a first aid kit. Exuze looked through it while the titan used the radio. What could he do to help this Toa? More painkillers probably wouldn't be of much use right now, but Exuze pocketed them for later. More bandages and gauze? Exuze thought the bleeding was stopped by his makeshift cauterization, but maybe they'll be needed. Antiseptics? Probably will come in handy, but the nomad wasn't sure how best to apply that. Scissors and tweezers? Yeah, Exuze was not going to be opening her up any time soon. The lesterin shakily emptied the contents of the first aid kid near the Toa, gulping as he felt his stomach shift as the ship changed directions.

He was glad to eventually hear Triage over the radio - the first message from Ko-Pou had him worried that no medical professional would be found in time. What was Triage doing in Metru-Koro? Exuze wanted to ask but there were more pressing matters at hand. As soon as Xaril handed the lesterin the radio transmitter, Exuze used it to address Triage.

"Triage, Exuze here. This Toa has a big slash on 'er belly. Lost consciousness within half a minute of finding her, but she's still alive, barely. Gave 'er your uh, special prescription, and 'ave been applyin' pressha to stop the bleedin'..."

The lesterin grimaced as he walked the medic through everything he tried.

"I uhh.... I uh... used my heatstone ta try ta cauterize it and uh... maybe that helped? I 'ave a first aid kit here, and 'ave 'er legs in the air to keep blood goin' down - errr - up? Point is, what can I do ta help 'er before we get ta ya?"

IC: Triage - Metru-Koro Ruins

Triage wasn't sure what else to say to the Toa of Fire, but opened his mouth to try anyway. The radio crackled to life again and interrupted. "Exuze!" the medic said, happy to find out the former Taku crewmember had been the one looking for him. "Alright, slow down alright? You gotta keep calm and focused in these kind of situations. You're doing great so far," he assured the Ta-Lesterin. "My mask should be able to close up the wound, but it won't mean anything if she loses too much blood before that. Keep applying pressure and-and more gauze, if you have enough. Just..."

He glanced to Okuo. A worried look.

"...just keep her alive. I can do the rest."

A pause.

"And what the Karzahni are you doing on a League ship?"

IC: Exuze, Zakaz Airspace

Keep her alive? How the Karz am I supposed to do that? That's what I was bloody asking you for!

Despite Triage's best efforts, Exuze was getting less and less calm. Maybe talking would help? He transmitted again, having trouble getting the words out, resorting to short sentences between heavy breathing as he hyperventilated.

"Was exploring relic fields. Found this Toa. League man found me. He has airship. She needs help. Fastest way to help. She needs help."

The Lesterin shakily picked up more gauze and began use them to soak up blood and put pressure on the wound. Why did he get on this ship? Why did he ever think leaving the Koro would be less painful than seeing that #### airship everywhere?

IC, Atamai: Kini-Nui

"It is a lot of strength to be bestowed; do you feel it is appropriately yours? And, who else among you has been given this honor?""

"Well, that depends. Malhukuraia claimed I'm its chosen pilot, yet I never intended to have all this power, this responsibility, for myself. I previously assumed that all my friends would get power, but it turned out not to be the case. Whether or not I feel it's appropriately mine now, the power is mine, and I intend on using it to protect those who fled from the Great Skull.

"As for your second question, there is one other person who has gained the NUVA power. Sidra. The Dark Hunter who killed Turaga Dume. Before I had gained this power, I might have been angry or accusatory toward her. But the NUVA power comes at a cost. For me, it took away my emotions. Sometimes it's a burden, but it has also granted me clarity in certain situations. When I spoke with Sidra, I could tell that her time here has changed her. I am confident that she'll also use her powers for the benefit of others, not just herself. Leklo also trusts her. I had actually given him a Great Disk to use, but him and Sidra had arrived at the Ice Temple at the same time, and since each of them had a Great Disk, they decided to use one of the disks together. Didn't really work out, obviously."

IC: Keitara (I'M WAKING UP/ I feel it in my bones/ enough to make my systems blow…)

(Recommended Listening- Her Mortal Coil by Ghost Data)

Kei lingered for a moment handing the shafts to Irna. The warrior seemed genuinely touched by the offering, which filled the diminutive Av-Toa's chest with forge-warmth.

She turned around when Skorm mentioned their location. Closing her eyes, her newly honed senses almost let her taste the sharp tang of ionizing radiation in the area. Part of Kei was surprised that the energy had lingered so long in the area. Without physical fallout she'd expected it to have dissipated. How... interesting. And potentially disastrous for an unprotected warrior venturing into the exclusion zone.

Kei was surprised by another thing: the energy wasn't painful. She felt uncomfortably warm, but nothing like the sickening burning of before. The ambient energy was, after all, only a high-frequency version of light. Perhaps when her body wasn't generating the toxin she was... resistant to it? Perhaps even slightly energized?

But that didn't help Irna, and she didn't have a way of generating a healing Rhotuka on command. And while she might be able to draw the energy from her friend's body upon her return its vicious damage would already be done.

"I can feel it, too." said Kei, knowing without asking that if she could sense it, the Twi-Toa before her must as well. "Not sure Irna treading through all this alone would be a good life decision. Fascinating though, really. Elemental energy itself must be lingering in this place. Like inside of a Toa Stone. If this procedure could be reproduced in a controlled setting then a thermal power source-"

The engineer cut herself off, blushing slightly. "S-sorry. I... I know this is my problem. Um... Skorm, do you know if... well, I created this mess. Do you think I might be able to re-absorb any of it? Not that I'm keen to spend any more time on my back-" Kei's cheeks flushed wine-dark as she realized the unintended implications of this but she plowed on "but working in these conditions would be equally detrimental, unless you went Doublemint and we shoved Orm in here under a lead blanket. Also... I did this. This entire area is toxic because of my inexperienced blundering. And I promised that Turaga I'd do something about this."
