IC: Viltia - Toa of the Green

Location - Mouth of Irnakk’s Tooth

 

Viltia’s descent brought insight. These markings weren’t made by some ancient builders like the Suva and Suva structures had been, they were formed with force and rapidly cooled, producing something that had the appearance of form yet lacked the purpose behind it. It warmed her to realize Nektann had probably been the source.

Actually, that wasn’t the only thing warming her. She could now feel the heat of the volcano, though it wasn’t unpleasant as of yet. Sort of like a warm hug that reminded her of the forge back home before hours of toil turned the heat into a draining force.

Viltia’s continued descent brought a voice that spoke inside her head. She recognized that it had to be the Remaker, but before she could formulate a response, she was standing in the Fau Swamp marshes, a Matoran again. The change was so sudden and so complete, her mind was completely fooled. To her, it was as if she had finally woken up after a horrible dream.

Before her the marshes descended into swampland at an unnatural angle. The entire island itself slanted at a downwards slope. It was dusk, and horrible, jeering laughs from hunting Skakdi rang out behind her. Fear jolted through her and she reached for her axe, only to realize it was just a walking stick again. One of the Skakdi screamed in fear and pain, pushing Viltia to stumble down the unnatural slope. She grew muddier and muddier as she wove around ponds and pushed through reeds. Strange Rahi raced in the grasses all around her, injecting into her the fear of her past.

But she knew the marshes and the swamp now, and she knew how to better navigate them. She stumbled down the slope, tripping and falling every so often with her Matoran body, but making much faster progress than she would have in the past not so very long ago. She didn’t notice it, but she wasn’t losing any stamina with all the activity.

As she reached the swamp, dusk became night and the roars of the night time predators rang out, reverberating throughout the massive trees to reach her soul and touch it with fear. She now stumbled over roots and bushes in the light of Electric Bugs. She pushed past giant mushrooms and spore fields that offered their own bioluminescence. The Skakdi were getting closer, the Rahi louder, as she descended.

She was having a hard time gathering enough air into her lungs, though it wasn’t due to exertion. Fear controlled and compelled her ever forward. A flash of glowing silver caught her optics and a group of Untethered looked up from absorbing everyone she had ever cared for, draining her friends like they did life from the trees. Viltia really couldn’t breath, shock setting in. Her organic protodermis muscles burned as she pushed them ever further. She had to escape, to get away. She couldn’t do this again.

Wait.

Again?

Before she could finish the thought, the Grand Untethered burst through the trees ahead, directly where she was descending to. Great tethers stretched out from it in all directions, like a silver web of death. She reached out to the swamp, but felt nothing. She was powerless again.

Again?

The fear in her abated and she slowed. The Skakdi behind her caught up to her, the Rahi started to attack her, the Untethered started to eat her. But she watched, detached from the actions. There was no pain. And with that realization, her determination filled her. Then, with a single step, she moved past them, descending again down into the swamp.

And then she felt him. The god of nightmares. Her Kraata of Life told her his information as she got in range, where he was and what his true species was. The vision evaporated like steam from hardening a Kanoka disc. She was within the volcano again, far deeper and fairly hotter. Irnakk’s presence clung to her like the humidity of the swamp, but knowing where and what he was provided her all the focus she needed to move forward.

She called out to whom she sought, “Remaker, god of nightmares, the great Irnakk, the Administrator told me to come to you. It wishes to be able to learn Taboos, and in exchange for providing it with the knowledge, it will teach me how to make Golden Masks in the Suvas. Can you please help me? I don’t know where else to turn other than the knowledge it said you might have stashed away here.”

They waited.

 

IC: Reliable Narrator | Spiriah's Labyrinth

Arkius's words appeared to have no effect. He spoke into the utter darkness and trusted the Mesi would listen, but their approach did not slow. The soft susurrations continued, woven of cloth against stone, of whispers between teeth, of feet slipping over earth. The sound was joined now by a quiet cackling as various Mesi started laughing at the idea that they would spare a top-dweller. It was like a shark telling fish to join forces against the fisherman. Hide in my mouth, sweet ones, so he will not find you. The idea was comical in its stupidity. The word warskaks meant nothing to them. There were the Mesi, and there were the Others. Arkius was an Other.

Three or four Mesi wavered in their approach, swayed by the effects of the mask of charisma, but Arkius could not bend the entire crowd to his will. Their hatred for sun-birthed beings knew no bounds. Each Mesi had been told tales of the top-dwellers while it was only a babe in arms. They grew up under the earth, every bent back and bumped head accompanied by a curse against the surface-people who had robbed them of the sun and sent them into the deeps. None lived who still remembered the banishment, but the story would never be forgotten. It was woven into their history; it was a shining bead threaded on the cord of their collective memory. Arkius was that bead personified, made manifest in all his arrogance and pride. He would dare to parley with them? After centuries of feuding blood between their races? One Mesi screeched in laughter at the thought. The sound echoed through the tunnels, a wild howl of foul delight.

Their breath was on his skin. Their claws reached through the air to slice his veins open. They would rip his trinkets from his body before crushing his corpse into a fine powder and scattering it throughout the farthest reaches of the Labyrinth. Advancing shoulder to shoulder, each Mesi reached deep into their being and prepared their elemental energy. Alone, one Mesi could not stand. Together, none could stand before them. The absolute darkness of the cave was broken by flames here and there that flickered to life in palms or along the edges of blades. The scant light cast by these flames illuminated coiling whips of water and conjured spears of deadly ice. A sudden wind whistled as it passed through the tunnels, singing past gravity-loosened rocks that trembled in the air, ready to be flung at the speed of thought. Arkius reached into the earth and found other wills there to contest his own. He was surrounded, outnumbered and outmatched. 

Then horde stopped their advance. Although he could not see them, Arkius could sense them all around him, ready to strike if he made one false move. One Mesi spoke up in a thick accent, like she was unaccustomed to speaking the top-dweller's tongue.

"Surrender, sunspawn. Mask. Weapons. Armor. Everything on the ground. Or you die."

A high-pitched whine filled the air as Niidak sawed through the neck of the statue. Sparks and dust flew, but the tool cut easily through the stone. After a minute or so of cutting, Niidak successfully decapitated the statue. The head fell to the ground with a thud. Hafu's art was irrevocably vandalized.

IC: Skyra Daring - The Taku -

"Nice one!" Skyra cheered as Arnex fired and blew up the rock that vaguely reminded her of Stannis. 

"Toa Knichou, the Earth Ruins Portal has been opened and been sealed by Toa Atamai. Toa Arkius, Katrin, Jutori, and Kilo have exited it. The Toa are injured and Kilo has unlocked NUVA. Apparently Toa Arkius had initiated the fight but was split into two with the Staff of Fusion and has fled with the Le-Metru and Ta-Metru Great Disks and Staff of Fusion."

As that message played throughout the ship, Skyra was pretty sure she'd heard that voice before. She didn't understand some of the message, the heck was a NUVA? But she at least understood that #### was going down. She wordlessly headed towards the bridge of the ship. While she was running she sent Rose a quick text. 

Hey so I'm sort of banished from Kini-koro now...but the good news is I'm working on an airship now! Gonna go fight people and ####. 

Skyra could feel the ship starting to move. Looks like they were going to be heading to those portals. You know where those portal things are? I think that's where the ship is heading atm.

Skyra barged onto the bridge. "So two things..." She began. "One, are we about to get into a fight? And two...you don't mind if my wife tags along do you? She's at least as good of a fighter as me."

IC: Arkius - Spirah's Labyrinth

For a moment, he considered lashing out, unleashing his rage on these wretched monstrosities and taking down as many as he could before they could do the same to him... but a coldly logical counter current swayed him from such a suicidal act. It slowly dawned on him how utterly delusional he had been to think these monstrosities could be negotiated with, but the words of the one who spoke in return gave him a slim lifeline. Certainly they could just as likely kill him and tear him to pieces even if he complied, but it was a better chance than the certainty of getting slaughtered by resisting. Stuffing his pride down, though seething all the while, Arkius placed the crate on the ground, and slung the two weapons off his back before placing them on the ground as well. With clasps and straps undone, the silver armour he'd worn with pride was doffed and placed down as well, leaving his form utterly stygian with spots of pale emerald glow. Finally, Arkius removed his mask, and without the mask's eye holes defining where his eyes had once been, his face now instead looked as if it had never had eyes at all. Placing it down on the ground, Arkius found himself vulnerable and at the mercy of the true masters of the chthonic depths.

Landing within the waterlogged glade that surrounded the ruins, reeds and lilies covering the water's surface. Apex waited as the two Nui-Rama deposited Waveahk next to her, and flew off back in the direction of their hive, to continue with their usual duties. Turning towards the Steltian, she gestured towards the ruins structure as she began to ascend the stairs.

"Come Waveahk, there are secrets to be claimed and power to be earned."

IC: Rose (Fighter MC) - Kini-Koro

Rose found it hard to believe that such a welcoming place like Kini-Koro would ban someone for a minor infraction, especially someone like her Sky. Despite this, the Ta-Toa felt this was no time to be indignant--she'd give the village's leadership a piece of her mind when she wanted to. For now, she'd gotten the text from Skyra that an airship crew had been kind enough to take her on as a member. Maybe they'd accept Rose, too--she hadn't had much work (that being, any) since Pridak's death. A soldier of fortune with no fortune was just...a vet sitting around all day. And a Toa of Fire would make a fine addition to any ship's crew, Rose thought. It was time for a new job.

She replied to Skyra quickly.

According to Skyra, they were heading to one of Kini-Nui's portals. Rose figured that must have meant the one with all the people around it, and she was already waiting there for the Taku to arrive. Thanks to her height, the Ta-Toa could see over the crowd and get a general idea of what was going on. Some people had come through the portal, and they must have been in bad shape because some of them were being carried off to somewhere else. Interesting day.

IC: Niidak (Relic Fields)

It worked, it worked! The pickaxe cut through stone like a knife through flesh. Niidak wished she could keep it for herself, but knew that she’d get in trouble if she did so.

She kneeled and picked up the severed head, which appeared mostly intact. Now came the moment of truth: Was the head worth all this trouble? She reached into her satchel, grabbing the Kanohi Miru, and placed it on the stone face. She was prepared for the worst, which was nothing. If it stopped working after being severed from the body, then it was just a useless piece of rock. But if it did work, she’d be floating again, so she had to be ready to quickly take off the mask.

This isn’t going to work, is it? she thought.

No, it wasn't.

Decapitated, the stone head seemed to lack any of the power it had displayed before. The Miru didn't even seem to fit on properly anymore. The face had looked so finely carved and realistic before, but now even the details seemed rough and crude, like all the art and magic had gone out of it.

Well, of course it didn’t work. All this effort had indeed been pointless.

She sighed and tore off the mask from its face. The head wasn’t even worth something as a beautiful ornament anymore as it had become crude and jagged. Whatever magic had been in the statue was now truly gone.

She muttered a swear word that was only known to Vortixx and tossed the head away like a piece of trash. As she walked back to her bike, she put the mask back in the satchel. At least she could now sell the Miru to someone.

While she was here at the Junk Fields (the name was now even more fitting), she figured she might as well drive around and try to scavenge more scrap or relics to sell. Knowing her luck, she’d find nothing of value. At this point, she’d prefer finding another wounded Toa rather than a statue of any kind.

IC: Nale Vella - The Taku

"Together."

Nale's smile as she shared a moment with Knichou turned to confusion and excitement as she was pulled away by the hand to the ship's bridge. It reminded her of more innocent times on her home island, just for the briefest moment...taking someone's hand and running along the coastline to catch the twin sunset or see rare rahi. A lack of concern for any war, or the stresses of being a Toa. Some times she wished Knichou could have experienced it, rather than life as a Ghost. But the news of Arkius worried her. And it had been so long since they last saw eachother--already she had so much to explain, but now it would be to an Arkius that could be a completely different half of him, as well. Would it make things even more complicated? Nale had never gotten to see the spear used before and didn't know how these kind of things worked. Maybe the Toa of Earth they'd be meeting would have no memory of her, of anything.

Maybe that's what she wanted.

Skyra's question allowed her to take her mind off it and suppress the worrying. "No fighting, no. Not at the moment," Nale answered the excitable Toa of Air. "And..." she trailed off and glanced to Knichou, "...anyone who wants to join the ship is welcome. Especially with what we're going into, soon. More numbers is always better."

"Besides, we wouldn't want to pull you away from your loved one."

IC Kilo-M9 NUVA- Kini Nui, Earth Portal:

“Guidance is unnecessary,” the machine responded to Atamai. “This unit has been reprogrammed with coordinates.”

Analyzing coordinates. Target location is nearby.

Testing of new functions is possible.

The newest NUVA took a moment before turning to glance in the direction of its target, a large bunker nearby with a big glowing symbol on it. It placed a metallic hand on the shoulder of Atamai and said, “Teleport.”

Instantly the surroundings around the pair shifted and warped, returning to normal almost immediately. They were now in front of the mysterious glowing bunker. The mechanical enforcer started to examine the sealed door, seemingly searching for weak points. Finally it pointed its hand at the sealed entrance and stated, “Random beam.” A prismatic ray of disorganized geometric energy lanced out from its outstretched palm, lancing towards the sealed door only to be absorbed on contact.

Unexpected result. Doorway appears to absorb powers. Other methods may need to be used.

Retrieving disc 637 from storage. Targeting door.

The former law enforcer hefted the disc of weakening, preparing to toss it at the unflinching obstacle.

IC: Sorilax - Aspect of Light and Silence

Location - Kini-Nui

 

Before he could make his way to the portal, he noticed Sidra emerge from the forest surrounding the new portal that… He tilted his head and a hardlight hand scratched the chin of his mask. The portal looked different. Much more metallic than it had been before. Intriguing.

Sidra seemed to be heading to one of the bunkers where two others were, so Sorilax decided to join in and come along. His body moved silently, allowing him to appreciate the shrill calls of the seagulls behind him at Kini-Nui’s lake. They were contrasted by the melodic songs of the jungle birds from the trees he had just recently been walking towards.

He continued to experiment with his element, conjuring several different floating hardlight objects and then warping the natural light around them to make it seem as if they had disappeared or were invisible.

As he got closer to the bunker, he saw yet another species he didn’t immediately recognize, even with his new Kraata power of Life. Was it a pure machine, then?

As her message went through to the Taku and Kilo chose to relocate himself and Atamai to the nearby bunker, her attention was taken by the muffled sound of explosions from the nearby valley wall. Tracing the trail of smoke, her eyes landed on the Taku, which was slowly repositioning itself near the portal.

'What in Karzhani, Knichou? Who the Karz is firing off explosives at a time like this?' She thought to himself, making her way towards the airship, trusting that Kilo and Atamai can handle things on their own.

Ostrox’s attention was drawn to the airship called the Taku, and the various noise and activity beginning to surround it. His brain also felt surrounded by noise and activity. Travelling through the Far Shore must have done something to him. It felt as if he were haunted by those he had failed. His king, and...

He saw Vulimai heading towards the ship. He followed after her, taking off his Mahiki as to not alarm anyone. "Commander! Is now a bad time? Now seems like a bad time."

That means you should leave her alone.

She’s not dead! She’s RIGHT THERE and NOT DEAD! Do your job properly for ONCE in your miserable life and-

Work with her. Try to reason with her. If she cannot be turned, then she must be disposed of when the time is right.

Atamai raised a hand to stop Kilo from throwing the disk at the door. "Wait, Kilo" he said. "This door feeds off power. To open it, you have to give it all your power, all your strength, your very being. By offering up all you have, you will die. But the door will open, and you will be revived by the energized protodermis within." He shrugged. "At least, that's how Sidra and I opened our doors."

Atamai turned around and flexed his elemental prowess. Out of the ground, a long trough appeared where the protodermis was likely to flow. "Okay, I'm ready to catch the excess protodermis," the Toa said. "Kilo, you may proceed whenever you like."

IC: Sorilax - Aspect of Light and Silence

Location - Kini-Nui - One of the Bunkers

With - Kilo, Atamai, Sidra

 

With silent steps and silent body, Sorilax’s golden glowing form brought him to the unopened and imposing metallic bunker. His Calix was a transparent pearlescent cream and white that accentuated his body’s glow, seeming to capture the light and bounce it around inside the transparent mask. His Ice Longbow stood in stark contrast to the rest of him, ice cold blue surrounded by pristine white, a frozen mist gently falling from it. One of his mask pouches was empty, and in the second the top half of a noble Hau could be seen. His long arms almost touched the ground, and a golden hardlight arm had sprouted from his torso to rub his Calix’s chin.

A door that killed you, yet revived you once unlocked? His thoughts immediately turned to the doorway down below the Suva Kaita. Perhaps it was not just a death trap. Maybe it could be properly handled to achieve some purpose. Perhaps those empty shells were just the remains of Aspects that had ascended to something higher and better.

He would need to think on this. Perchance some day in the future return and take a risk on trying to walk the doorway’s path.

IC: Apex (Fau Swamp, Air Suva)

The ruins, they were...familiar to her, like a vague imprint or outline within the coiling shadows of her mind. But even being within the presence of such a stone edifice didn't do so much as rattle her thoughts then actually cause any form of memory or elder knowledge to rise to the surface. Disappointing, but as an unnatural smear to the natural beauty of things, that was bound to happen regardless.

Ascending the stairs, she entered the central atrium, her side-stepping past a whole within the rotten floor. She hoped that this decaying edifice didn't break beneath her own weight. The air flowed easily though the space, the chirping and chittering of insects and birds surrounding the place. It was peaceful, but peace was not what she had come for.

Tilting her head towards the Suva structure within the center of the room, Apex directed Waveahk to examine the structure as she personally examined the moss and vine tangled walls.

Waiting for the arrival of the Taku, and having a chance to chew out Knichou once more, she was surprised as another voice spoke up from behind her. "Commander! Is now a bad time? Now seems like a bad time."

Turning around, she was greeted by the purple visage of Ostrox, though a troublesome feel was about it. "Ah Ostrox, I didn't notice you there. No, currently the situation is under control, I can give you the full rundown later if you wish. But for now, I presume you have returned from Nuju and his little Far Shore scavenger hunt? What did you find there, any answers to our problem?"

A violet tinge crawled beneath Kei's kanohi as she stared pointedly at Orm. She still wasn't sure what to make of Skorm's entourage, especially how, well, forward the Shadow Toa could be. Yet… he was still part of Skorm. The aspects that in his combined form made the Twi-Toa charming and even outstanding in Kei's mind seemed exaggerated in his fragments' personalities. Also she was indeed very self-conscious of the fact that her crush's head (well, half of it at any rate) was resting in her lap and she couldn't decide if she wanted to stroke his head or clock him. She followed Irna's lead and politely extricated herself from beneath Orm, shooting Sko a slightly apologetic look as she did so.

"Right. I'll get out there and strip the panels off. Glad to hear that you tw- three will be all right looking after yourselves as far as radiation goes. I'll… I guess I'll focus in on getting the Muaka repairs finished with Goofus and Gallant here. Just… be safe, Irna"

"You're not seriously asking more people to sacrifice their energy and lives so you can benefit?" Sidra snapped, stepping closer to the machine. Maybe it didn't fully understanding what it was asking, but after Vulimai and Atamai had both snapped at her for her comments about the Krahli, for it to turn around and suggest something so selfish made her skin crawl. She'd done a lot of horrible things in her time, but she'd always taken responsibility for it... she wasn't sure if this twisted machine was capable of even that. "You made a choice to pursue this power. What's behind that door is meant for you. So either open it yourself or don't open it at all... but don't expect others to pay the price for you."

Unknown Individual appears upset. Proposed solution appears logical. Additional explanation may help clarify.

“This unit was not suggesting only others being used to open door,” the machine explained to the mysterious individual. “Ally Atamai stated that doors absorb energy. If one NUVA dies opening door, two working together should not. Is that not a logical result? Why should death be a prerequisite to open a door?”

The mechanical enforcer paused a moment before continuing. “As for choice, this unit follows existing programming. What is behind door is unknown to this unit; NUVA transformation added waypoint information that is now being investigated. This unit is also programmed to survive which takes highest priority. She felt cold all of a sudden, and her hands were clammy. "I know your kind don't give a karz about doing that sort of thing to other people, but try to imagine for a second what it's like. To feel your future, your power, your life, leeching out of you? I know how it felt... and at the end, death was a karzing relief."

She glanced at Atamai, "I don't know about you, but even after being brought back to life by the energised protodermis, I didn't get back what the door drained from me until I bonded with my mech. If other people who aren't... like us... give their energy to the door, they might not get it back. It might be permanent even for us, since it's not our mech."

The machine turned back to the door, searching for any unique marks along its surface.

“These doors may function similar to puzzles. If that is the case, multiple solutions may be available. Only currently known solution completely drains energy from single NUVA, but existing results only involve tests using single NUVA. Additional testing will be required. As for permanency of energy drain, this unit requests additional information. What are these mechs unknown individual is describing?”

"... Tren Krom, grant me the power of teleportation, with the caveat that I can only teleport to a place I have been in the past week. Amen."

Prayer accepted, the voice in his head whispered.

Atamai looked at Kilo and raised a finger as if to say, wait here. The Toa NUVA activated his mask, and a moment later he was standing in front of his mech, Malhukuraia, which was still shackled to the metal plate he had made. He walked around to the back and quickly clambered inside the cockpit. The doors slid closed...

And Atamai saw through the metal giant's eyes. 

Activating his elemental power, the shackles opened up and detached from the mech's wrists and ankles. Malhukuraia rose to its full height. Atamai directed it over to the bunker where Kilo and Sidra were standing. The mech lumbered over, the ground shaking as it walked. 

"This is Malhukuraia," said Atamai, his voice emerging from the mouth of the robot. "It is one of the six Kaita ACRs found in the valley. These mechs were designed to fight the giant Rahi that emerge from the volcano. Their power is unlike anything you have experienced, Kilo. There is one behind that door you are trying to open. But it requires sacrifice. And if you are trying to fulfill your primary objectives, sacrifice may be necessary."

IC: Knichou & Taku Crew, Kini-Nui, The Taku

Knichou looked to Nale with a faint grin, nodding in agreement as his partner answered Skyra's questions. He silently watched the Vahki and Skyra, amused, while Berys brought the ship to rest by the lakeside in front of the portal.

"Knock if off, you two, we have a job to do," Knichou said. "And please try to inform us in advance next time you do any 'practicing', okay? Vulimai gives me enough annoyed looks already."

As the Taku began to lower, Knichou exited the bridge, moving past the meeting room to descend the staircase to reach the lower deck. There was the sound of motors as the hull on the Taku's lower bow swung outwards in both directions. The ramp lowered, slowly revealing the Fe-Toa as he walked outward, impatient. As the landscape revealed itself it was more evident what was going on - a variety of guards flanked vulimai, moving towards Katrin, who was carrying Arkius. Atamai's mech could be see in the distance, at the large bunker closest to the portal.

"Is everything under control? You said Toa were injured," the ex-Ghost asked Vulimai.

Arnex looked over to Navu. She hadn't expected the Taku to take off right after firing, or for Skyra to run off. Did they mess up? She flicked on the safey and exited the rocket turret.

"Maybe uh, we can practice reloading instead?"

IC: Nale Vella - The Taku to Kini-Koro (Earth Portal)

She followed Knichou down the ramp of the Taku to meet with Vulimai, passing by the Fe-Toa and crossing her arms when she reached the Matoran Commander, icy blue optics more intense than usual. Something about the situation was clearly bothering her, something that the rest of those present would not have knowledge of besides her...and the man being held by Katrin.

The Toa of Magnetism spoke up, her questions far more direct. "What's Arkius' condition like? May I speak with him?"

No sooner had Arkius laid the last of his possessions down then someone grabbed his arms and yanked them behind his back. A pair of cuffs materialized around his wrists: made of solid iron that was cold against his skin, he couldn't bend them if he tried. Someone else kicked the backs of his legs. He fell roughly to his knees with a grunt of pain. There was the sound of spitting, and he felt something spatter his maskless face. Mesi laughter echoed around him.

"Sunspawn scum," growled a voice. Other voices murmured in agreement, but Arkius didn't understand the tongue in which they spoke. It was a low, whispering language that seemed all consonants and clicks. The Mesi immediately around him seemed to be discussing something. Perhaps how to kill him? How quickly they were going to let him die? There was no way of knowing. Then the accented voice emerged again from the darkness. "Walk," it commanded. A pair of arms dragged Arkius back to his feet, and the point of an unknown weapon prodded the small of his back, as if to emphasize the command.

 

IC: The Rock Rahi | Kumu Peninsula

"Interesting? Lots of things," the rock said optimistically. "Hey look! A bug!"

Indeed, a small insectoid rahi was creeping along the ground. Its wings shimmered. Its carapace gleamed gold and green. Then the rock rolled over the insect, and it died pretty much instantly.

"Yum," the rock said. "You were saying?"

"Demolitions, huh?" Tuyet looked around at the mess. "Never figured I'd live to see the Coliseum get renovated. So where's the head honcho?"

Familiar voices reached her ears, and the newly born Nuva of Fire looked over excitedly and waved,  "Hey! Knichou! it's good to see you again!" Arkius shifted unevenly across her shoulders, and Kat realised a little too late and she toppled, her legs still not obeying her. Luckily for Arkius the guard were able to keep him from hitting the ground, but Kat fell hard. "Ouch, agh.... man, I probably shouldn't have used that technique..." She struggled to rise once more.

"Shame, and unfortunately no as I haven't had the time yet. The other village leaders wanted feared Aurax' control over the Vahki and had an idea to remove them from his control. I voted against such a notion not wanting to risk instigating another war. After that, the Earth Portal opened, and as you see, we have injured." 

Vulimai gestured behind herself, towards where the Matoran were trying to assist Katrin, Jutori, and Arkius, some of them running of towards the Ice Portal and others towards the village in hopes of finding healers. Turning her head, she saw as the Taku landed near them, "But, once this situation is handled, you can share what you know, but about Mata-Nui and of the Far Shore."

"Is everything under control? You said Toa were injured." "What's Arkius' condition like? May I speak with him?"

The two Toa approached her, quickly bombarding her with questions. Turning towards Knichou, Vulimai answered him first, "Currently, yes. The portal is sealed but Toa Arkius, Katrin, and Jutori are injured, with Arkius and Jutori having collapsed." She shifted her gaze towards Nale, noting her intense gaze...And how they shifted briefly towards Arkius.

"He's currently unconscious and without mask, neither of which are good. Best to leave him where he is, I would advise against moving him."

IC: Knichou & Taku Crew, Kini-Nui Hillside, The Taku

Knichou thought that he was moving urgently, but Nale was going even faster, the Toa of magnetism breaking from his side and brushing past him to get to Vulimai even sooner. While she asked about Arkius's condition and a Toa of fire the engineer didn't recognize moved to meet Skyra (the wife she had mentioned, perhaps?) Knichou's focus was directed to Katrin, given this Toa of fire had addressed him by name. He gave her a nod, but before he could speak he saw her stumble.

Katrin Nuva Proxima's legs shivered and collapsed, but the large Toa of fire did not find herself hitting the grass. Instead, Arkius and Katrin landed on an inflatable mattress, which puffed up as their combined weight sent the air away from the center.

Knichou moved further forwards, following beside Nale as the glow that danced along the embossed golden lines of his kanohi began to fade. He looked at both of the Toa with concern in his green optics.

IC: Nale Vella - Kini-Koro (Earth Portal)

Nale watched over Vulimai's shoulder as Kat fell onto the mattress, her feet moving on their own the moment the Toa of Fire stumbled, Knichou being much quicker with his mask. "Toa Katrin, are you alright?" she asked, coming to a stop beside her and the other returning Toa. She then turned to the unconscious Toa of Earth, still (sort of) standing thanks to the Matoran guard helping him, optics studying Arkius like it was the first time she'd ever seen him. Just like Vulimai had said, he was maskless, and looked like he'd been through just as much as the other Toa present. She remembered back to Po-Metru, and the Toa of Earth's condition after he had tried to follow Vyarik--the revived one. He was always getting himself into these sorts of situations.

She reached her hand towards his maskless face without even being aware of it. So he'd been split by the spear. Which part of him was she looking at?

"Arkius...?"

Rose pulled away from the hug to speak to the other two Toa, only to see them walking off. She shrugged at Skyra. "Hn. I guess I'll have to wait a moment, unless...you can give me a free tour, Sky?"

A sly grin formed across her Hau--the kind of face the Ta-Toa would make before doing something very bad on a battlefield.
