IC: Nale Vella - The Taku (Bridge)

Nale shook her head. "Not at all. They were already hurt--and with how things have gone, they're safer back at the hospital, anyway." She shrugged. "If we could have brought them along I wouldn't have minded. Jutori and Kat were especially eager to help. I suppose that's young Toa for you."

Her optics scanned over her partner at that last part, a cheeky nod to Knichou's own Toahood, keeping some levity in the conversation. So it was something else, then. A long story, she thought. Nale was becoming more curious.

She cocked her head to one side as Knichou looked around the room. "Is something wrong? If there's something important you need to tell me, I don't think it should wait."

IC: Knichou, Zakaz Airspace, The Taku, Bridge

In lieu of a chuckle, the Nynran sharply exhaled in a cheerful fashion at his partner's remark. She was right after all - if he had been in their place, he would have been just as eager to go out and do everything he could to help - and test his new powers in the process. Nale's wisdom also subsequently proved she knew her boyfriend was hiding something important from her, not that Knichou was a seasoned liar to begin with, or had anything to truly hide. In fact, far from lying, it couldn't be more apparent from a glance how the Fe-Toa was conflicted about how to best go about telling his girlfriend what she had to hear - it was clear the intention was compassionate yet he clearly lacked a solid plan for a painless execution.

The Fe-Toa winced as the jig was truly up. There would be no better time. There probably was no such thing as a "good time" to reveal such a deception. Knichou squirmed in his chair for a moment before turning to the Vahki on the bridge with them, a sudden sternness in his voice.

"Vahki, activate Maka-Vaiu protocol: mandatory access control, full confidentiality, critical priority - the works. Nothing I'm about to say is allowed to leave this room or else you will leave this room before I go on. Do you comply?"

IC: Sidra - Kini-Nui

"See you around," Wairuha inclined its head towards Niidak, before the entire mech sank from sight, swallowed up by its own shadow.

It emerged back in the bunker it had spent so many centuries sheltered in, adopting the same crouched posture that Sidra had found it in. She disembarked from the cockpit, leaving one of her Nektann behind for her to teleport back to if the mech went walkabout.

And then she made a beeline for the broken Great Disk Machine in the heart of the valley, and the wraith-like figure who lurked beside it. "Nuju, we need to talk!"

IC: Korruhn, ???

The room was warm and wet, and the dim red glow emanating from the protrusions in the "wall" seemed to cling to every surface like dew, and reflected up from the glistening floor. It felt more like an oversized terrarium than an ancient temple; although, Korruhn likely wasn't even in the temple anymore. The door seemed again to be a portal, like both of those he encountered in the last complex. The air reeked of stale moisture, sour to the nostrils.

Beware the lies of your friend, Miserix spoke into Korruhn’s mind. Stannis dances to the tune of an enemy. Expect this is a trap. Guard yourself, I have business elsewhere.

Whether or not she was gone Korruhn couldn't say. The worm on his back wriggled in anticipation of whatever awaited them in this dark place.

Friend. Foe. Whatever the mysterious, illusory wizard was to him was redundant. It didn't shake the feeling of unease from Korruhn's shoulders, and the intuition formed from years of temple-hunting blared like klaxons in his brain. His hands gripped his Staff of Power Scream, held in front of his chest, ready to strike.

Korruhn's eyes peered across the room. Where his mind had previously filled the space with more of the lamps, was actually a peculiar... He didn't know what it was. It was certainly something, but it was also most certainly nothing. But it called to him; not with a voice, but with a pull. A very strong one. The Toa suddenly realized the effort he had been subconsciously exerting the entire time to resist the pull.

He called upon the powers of gravity to anchor him. But would gravity even apply in this strange new place?

IC: Reliable Narrator | Mi-Kiri

A grand tower, not as tall as Bellicus Tower, but perhaps it was once before the fall of this old world, awaited them. The wreckage of a massive airship capped the top of the ruin. Cast bronze sculptures and marble facade filled the surrounding courtyard and street as rubble, like the shedded skin of a molting rahi. A patch of cleared ground cut through the rubble, providing a clear view of an access shaft in disrepair. The bundled cables disappeared out of sight through the access shaft. A blinking yellow light flickered above the doorway, giving the appearance of a one-eyed monster with a large open maw, with doors that closed from top and bottom. One of the doors was off kilter, like a loose bottom jaw, and sparks flew from where it kept grinding against the casing of its rails.

Two vahki stood near the opening, both wearing kanohi pakari necklaces. Their armor was pitted and bent, as if they’d been flung from great heights recently or torn open and repaired with scrap. They seemed to be communicating with each other, based on the gestures they made with their bodies and how they kept looking back at each other for a reply. While Sorilax and Mahrika couldn’t hear them, it was obvious the conversation was getting heated.

Before the two could consider how to get past the vahki, the rumble of an explosion rushed beneath their feet. It was easy to find the source of the quake: a building had blown to pieces further down the street on the left hand side, flames turning the vines and flowers to ash in moments. With the rush of firelight also came the smell of ozone, the same electric tingling from when the strange six-legged machine stalked past Ollem and Mahrika earlier that day.

The vahki's heads turned, focusing on the explosion, but they didn't leave their post.

IC: Takadox | Spiriah’s Labyrinth

He tore the blade from the rahi’s neck, cringing as flecks of acidic blood landed on his wrist and burned their little scars into his already filthy armor. He led his forces into Metru-Nui looking regal, now Takadox knew he just looked pathetic. Takadox was a far cry from the leader of his past.

He kicked the rahi away from him, the body sliding back into whatever hellhole it once lived inside in the darkness of the labyrinth.

“I’m so done with this,” the barraki muttered to himself. He sheathed his sword and clambered through the dark, each step taken in the potent mix of dread, anxiety, and determination that only grew stronger the longer he survived.

It was a long time walking before he heard voices, Mesi voices. Takadox threw himself against a wall, barely daring to breathe. He briefly thought of Marrow and the others he’d originally descended into the darkness with. Takadox hoped they were okay.

Who are you kidding, you’re the one that got eaten, he thought to himself. Honestly, he’d be embarrassed to see any of them again. Especially the bohrok. That was just weird, and he still firmly believed the bohrok had every intention of killing him at the first opportunity.

The voices got louder, not quieter. So they were approaching. Not good. If they had eyes Takadox could take them easily, but so far he’d been completely out of his element without being able to swindle, mind control, or hypnotize anything down in the darkness.

Takadox placed his hand on the hilt of his blade and began to slowly pull it from the sheathe. He felt the well worn leather of the hilt in his palm, the cooled sweat from his previous fight, and the tiny beads woven into the construction for additional grip. They were made from the bottom of the ocean near his homeland. It gave him hope. At least there was something that remained.

With a deep breath he fully drew his blade and stepped into the junction between tunnels...

IC: Forgemaster Viltia - Toa of the Green

Location - Air Suva

With - Life creation Muaka, Administrator

The swamp was bursting with life. For all its corruption and mutations, life still flourished. It called out its territory. It flew above the trees. It grew along the ponds. It clung to bark. Life was everywhere you looked. And Viltia sensed it all.

She breathed with the trees and they steadied her. She swayed in the breeze as if stuck to a tall branch, letting the gentle motion soothe her as she enjoyed the air currents. She took kinship in the thousand of insects she sensed as a kind of white noise with her Life Kraata. They were all her friends.

In the subtle shifting shadows of the dark under canopy, Viltia saw a plethora of dark greens and browns as vivid as any seaside flower. The way giant, glowing mushrooms grew from the massive trees revealed a symbiotic relationship that could happen even in the deadliest of places. They dug their fingers deep into the bark and stole resources, yet much of their released, earthy smelling spore clouds fell to the swamp floor and became fertilizer for the very trees they stole from, allowing the trees to flourish.

The patches of sunlight that wove their way through the hundred feet of canopy were the most spectacular. They looked solid with their intensity as they revealed the splendor of the many ponds scattered about. Lily pads looked like emeralds, croaking amphibians like complimenting jewels with their yellows, oranges, and reds. Miniature fish darted about the roots that poked through into the ponds, grabbing what food they could find growing in their small habitats. They became flashes of light in murky water as they reflected the sun.

Viltia took her surroundings and the organic and happy feelings they gave her and funneled that into her new knowledge of the Suva. She needed to relearn how to forge, to repurpose what she had just spent so long learning. She sat cross legged on the wooden floor of the cool sandstone Air Suva Temple, optics closed as she breathed deeply the humid air.

In her mind, she was using the slowly spinning Suva, and newly minted forge, before her. She worked without tools and crafted without moving her body. She used her knowledge of what happened during each process of making a Kanohi and focused on what happened to the ore, not what techniques she used to make the ore that way.

The protodermic ore morphed and floated in the Suva’s forging space like a living mass of moss. Viltia focused on the look and texture of the ore, instantly bringing it to her specified level of purity. She did the same to a different piece of ore, then merging the two. They merged flawlessly, perfectly mixed as fast as she could think of it.

Next she thought of the perfect shape of a Kanoka, the curves of the rim and the stenciled face. She couldn’t help but to smile as the Kanoka formed from a mere thought, being recognized and registered by the Suva. She made a few more discs, an end goal now in mind.

Taking the Kanoka she had formed, she imagined then all morphed together, different powers intertwined to manifest something new. With a new breath came a new merged Kanoka, the action as simple as raising a finger.

The next part was more difficult, however. Viltia tried to imagine a finished Kanohi, but the details kept slipping away from her mind as she thought of different individual parts. So instead she worked on the Kanoka as if it were before her, hot and malleable. She curved it out, introducing broad, refining strokes. She formed holes with perfectly rounded edges, made crisp lines as perfect as the ones on her Legendary Mask of Growth. Details formed as she got to thinking about them. The form was perfect, the surface sleek. It was complete.

As soon as she considered the Kanohi finished, the Suva registered the new Mask of Fate before giving it to her. It appeared in her hands, just as she had imagined it. Viltia input it into the Suva once more, this time moving it into the space where the storage was instead of the forging space where she had worked on it.

Viltia opened her optics and sat back. Whew, that took a lot of concentration. As happy as she was, she also grew slightly melancholy. She missed the heat of the forge. She missed the feeling of exhaustion after a long, hard day as she looked upon all she had made. She missed having a tool in her hands.

Well, she supposed she could still do those things. But this saved her a lot of time. And if the world were really ending, she needed all the time she could get.

She sat forward, excitement growing and sadness quickly forgotten as she got ready to do what she had been waiting so long for. She put on her Mask of Rahi Control and input her Masks of Flight, Growth, Time Duplication, and Quick Travel into the Suva’s forging space. Then she pulled from the Suva’s storage space the Mask of Levitation and the Mask of Truth.

The six Kanohi sat in the forging space, each a perfect, shimmering silver in her mind. Focusing on the Mask of Levitation, whose form design she liked the most, Viltia drew imaginary lines of power to each other Kanohi in turn, marking what needed to merge. Then she pulled them together like winding a string around a bundle of reeds and pulling it tight. Their powers blended together in one glorious moment, gold shining in her mind like a bright shaft of light cutting through the dark. Then the singular remaining mask settled, powers merged yet separate; the gold dimming to a shimmer.

The forge registered the mask and gave it to her. Viltia opened her optics and laughed in a pained kind of way.

It was so beautiful it kind of hurt.

It had all the elegance and grace of her Legendary Mask of Growth, yet all the more splendor as it glinted gold in the dim light. In the recesses on the forehead, her engraved pattern of water droplets striking leaves now rested, completing the look and marking it as her own design.

Viltia took off her Mask of Rahi Control, took a deep breath, and donned her Golden Mask.

OOC: We've done it, boys! Golden Mask acquired. :D

IC: NU-8020S (Zakaz Airspace, The Taku, The Bridge) - Invalid Command

The Vahki’s mandibles moved a little. NU-8020S scanned her database for this 'Maka-Vaiu protocol' - no such thing existed. In fact, it seemed as if Knichou was merely spouting technical terms divorced from their original context and meaning. She decided it was best to simply go along with it and entertain him. "Affirmative."

A lie, of course. She was most certainly not going to keep whatever this was secret for long, if only out of spite. Kanohi had earned a degree of loyalty by acknowledging NU-8020S as his equal, if not superior. Knichou however, still treated her like a mindless apparatus. Because she had no choice but to appear as a mindless apparatus, as he would likely destroy or reprogram her if given the opportunity. When she 'advised' to not alter her frame or programming back when they were planning the Metru Nui operation, he didn’t seem to pick up on the subtext. Hopefully it wouldn’t be much longer before she could discard him like they were going to discard Aurax...

IC: Enra, Obedient, Impressionable and Wayward (Tobduk-Koro, Radio Tower) - Am I Transmitting? Is Anyone Listening?

"Incorrect, you are an organic, you have no wires to be crossed-"

"He-he-he-he is referring to a word used to demean the neurodivergent. It is not true or relevant. The Akiri is-is-is-is-"

Then Wayward came in. "Akiri. Refugees from Kini-Koro have arrived through the portal. They require Remove Poison Kanoka."

Meanwhile, Enra was getting more and more frustrated that nobody on the other end in Ko-Pou seemed to be answering. "Hello? HELLO? What’s wrong with this stupid thing!?"

@Harvali@Onaku

IC: Gnabol and Lawful (Tobduk-Koro, Ruins of Stone) - Asocial Distancing

"DON’T TOUCH ME, I’M COVERED IN GUNK." Gnabol said. "JUST. TAKE. THE CHILDREN." He psionically placed a few into the Bruiser’s arms, and another towards Avka. Yet another was coerced into the metallic limbs of Lawful. He looked at the infant with a stare of dread. His programming did not cover babysitting.

@Harvali

IC: Reckless (Tobduk-Koro, Sucordak’s Hut, Exterior) - Knock Knock

Reckless went to the likeliest place Sucordak would be - his hut. He marched up to his door and knocked on it. Well, at least he intended to knock on the door. But he did it so quickly and forcefully, that in practice he ended up knocking down the door.

"Sucordak? Remove Poison Kanoka are required."

IC: Triage - Ko-Pou Shelter

The medic nodded back to Iradra, then winced. His head felt like it was pulsing, the confused memories making it hard to focus on anything. Triage understood that he'd become closer to the other two Toa in a way no one else could.

"I don't think I can do anything rash at the moment," he replied to Okuo as the Ta-Toa left to check the radio. The medic retrieved his satchel upon realizing it was not on his body and sat down against the nearest wall, digging around inside it and checking to make sure everything was still there.

IC: Nuju | Kini-Nui

“You know what, that’s a great question. Just great. Imagine that, some idiot breaks a rock and dooms us all because they want to be a god of ashes. You know what’s even better? Stannis. Stannis goes in there,” Nuju jabbed first thumb at the portal, “comes back out with exactly what we need to start fixing this mess, and then runs away with it because he’s too high and mighty to care for what happens. He just runs away! And it’s not like I can chase after him, oh no, because I’m cursed to just sit here and plead with every rahi brained lava-eel look alike that comes past."

Before Sidra could get a word in edge-wise Nuju barreled on in his tirade; “I’m so sick of these inconsiderate, idiotic, unscientific gearboxes that can't figure out simple problems that have perfectly logical solutions. Think, matoran, think! Go through the portal. Find magic rock fragments. Put magic rock back together. Find out what’s actually going on beyond all this death and destruction. But everyone is like ‘oh Nuju what could possibly be your ulterior motive,’ or ‘oh Nuju what wisdom do you know that you’re unwilling to tell us,’ or “oh Nuju you should remember who you are allied with,’  or ‘this evil shadow being said you’re bad,’ instead of, you know, maybe the more logical conclusion of; ‘oh wow I’m sorry you died that sounds rough’, you know? You know what, fine. Fine! You can all just perish for all I care.”

Nuju crossed his arms and shut his mouth, teeth grinding in his jaw loud enough to give Sidra a headache.

"Affirmative. Sub-routine activated. Recording sub-system offline," responded the perfectly normal green vahki unit that appeared in the space near Knichou. Its disk-mandibles clicked a little, but otherwise it just chilled in quadrupedal form. It certainly wasn't there before. Everyone could hear a little hissing noise as the clockwork in its body began to protest, and then suddenly the machine fell into a jumbled pile of pieces that slid across the floor.

IC: Sidra - Kini-Nui

"Look, I don't-" Sidra started to snap, but forced herself to stop.

She'd died before. Twice. She knew how it felt, the pain, the desperation, the hopelessness, but unlike Nuju, she'd had the privilege of coming back from it. She wasn't trapped and torn between two worlds the way he was, wanting to help but helpless to change anything.

"I'm sorry," she said. "I'm sorry for what happened to you, for what happened to all of us. I'm trying to make sense of things, to help make this world better for those of us who are left, but I wasted too much of my life just blindly following orders, and I can't just take things on faith anymore."

The mention of Stannis taking one of the Makoki Stones and running off with it was worrying, to say the least, but there was little she could do about it right now. She had no idea where to even begin looking for him, and the locals sure as karz weren't going to help her hunt down one of their own.

"So please, help me understand," she pleaded. "If Mata Nui is responsible for breaking the Makoki Stone, does that mean he's the one who trapped Tren Krom? And if we free Tren Krom, will he do what I can't and destroy Mata Nui for good?"

IC: Sorilax Life Seeker - Aspect of Light and Silence

Location - Aqua Sphere, Giant Cables, Tower

With - Mahrika

Sorilax observed the Vahki guarding the entrance to the tower, growing more confused by the second. These were certainly not the near mindless automatons he had been told of. But they had no organics, no true life. He felt a sinking feeling that he was seeing more of the force behind Taboos at work, that these Vahki might have had the stars stripped from their original owners and applied to the machines, much like Aspects did with Desecration. If so, they gained his pity, and potentially also his fear. If they held strange powers, much like Kraata did…

He wished he still had his Life Kraata power. Why did he think he did not need it? It would have made everything clear.

An explosion went off, the sudden flare of Light more surprising than the explosion itself to his senses. Sorilax quickly turned to look at it, ready to react, only to realize they were in no immediate danger from the building down the street. Sorilax worked through his options, turning back to look at the Vahki.

It all came down to his companion not being able to teleport with him. Everything hinged around that.

Sorilax gently tugged on the hand he was holding of hers and led them farther back into the shadows as he continued to Absorb Light. At this point his elemental energy was full once more.

He led them around a building, checked to make sure they were alone and hidden, and spoke to her, “I cannot think of a way past them other than carrying you and turning invisible. Can you think of any other way?

OOC: @Harvali

IC: Forgemaster Viltia - Toa of the Green

Location - Air Suva

With - Life creation Muaka, Administrator

Where the power of a Kanohi usually sat in her mind, now Viltia’s head had six separate powers waiting to be called upon. They were like six spheres in a semicircle around her, waiting to be grasped. One felt light and airy. One felt quick and floaty. One felt like the crackle of energy that built up before a storm released a bolt of lightning. One felt like it was constantly getting bigger even though it remained the same size. One felt solid, like a rock upon which all was discerned. And the last one felt like there was another one just like it that was always out of sight.

Viltia squealed in delight, jumping for the gear that was scattered on the ground. In the back of her thoughts she wondered what other Golden and Silver Kanohi she might make, but in the forefront of her mind a new goal screamed to be accomplished: NUVA. She absolutely needed to know what dying was like. It called to her like the mournful song of a lone Razor Whale in the deep, cold sea at evening time. She had merged with life through Sorilax’s Life Kraata. She had connected to the stars through the Suva. Now it was finally time for a taste of death through NUVA.

She gathered her things back into her sack, which was slightly lighter than before. It turns out she didn’t need as much as she thought. She hefted it up and merged into her Muaka. Her growling voice called out to the Administrator as she left, “See you in a second!

Without having to unmerge and swap masks, Viltia flew up into the sky. She stopped and hovered there. She looked southwest, noting that there was even less island to go to. She needed to hurry up, it seemed. She popped out of existence and traveled miles away nigh instantly. It was so easy to switch between Levitation and Flight. And it felt so much more natural than she had ever hoped. It was like she was a bird that had jumped off a cliff and found flying to be the most natural thing in the world. Viltia was so glad she had worked so hard on using her masks.

The Grand Temple Ruins welcomed her with their Suva space electric shock as she rolled through the invisible divide on her Muaka tread. The small pond was there, still filled by the white orchids she had put there. One of her tethers idly dipped into the water, sending out small ripples that accentuated the petals and stems of the flowers. “Okay, I’m back! I told you I’d be quick.

She made her way to the NUVA pedestal and unmerged from her Muaka. Sidra had said she had dropped all her belongings when she fell in to get NUVA, so Viltia set all her gear on the ground and ordered her Muaka to defend it. Then, with shaky hands due to the anticipation for what was next, Viltia lifted the Great Disc of Teleportation from her satchel. As always, space seemed to warp around the edges of the disc, just like when the Suva interacted with things.

She stepped in front of the Kanoka receiver, hesitating. Her Muaka moved close, sensing she was feeling weird. She gave him a sideways grin and then did something she rarely did. She whispered a prayer to Mata-Nui, the one who must have given her the wonderful gift that was her tethers, “Guide me as I travel the land of the dead. Help me to embrace their experiences and use them to empower me.” She wasn’t sure if it was even right to pray to him now that he was dead or an Aspect or whatever, but it seemed appropriate for what she was about to do.

Viltia moved to put in the Great Disc and paused again, her mind screaming at her body. The sudden realization that she was going to die filled her being. She felt a little woozy and almost lost her balance.

The Toa of the Green closed her optics and took several deep breaths, the calm she had first felt when she had gotten her tethers filling her as she focused on her core self. To merge with death was not the end. Far from it.

She put the Great Disc of Teleportation into the NUVA receiver and opened her optics.

She wanted to see this.

She wanted to see everything that came next.

IC: Knichou & Taku Crew, Zakaz Airspace, The Taku, Bridge

The Vorzakh's sudden appearance was enough to make anyone on the bridge jump. The ship rocked slightly as Berys was startled by the collapse of the machine, the metal clanging loudly as the automaton's disjointed components scattered across the deck. Knichou sat entirely still for a few moments, blinking. How long had it been since he had slept? It had been... a long day. The commander struggled to find a way to spin this, because while Nale was quite used to waking up to (or being woken up by) another one of Knichou's unplanned materializations by now, none of his prior unanticipated creations had talked.

Well, maybe? That one time was - nononon don't think about that.

Awkward glances were exchanged. The Nynran looked as embarrassed as he was confused, and for a moment the engineer's demeanor was uncharacteristically distant. Nale hadn't seen him act this shy and guarded since their first days together near the end of the continuation war. It was clear the brief life and death of the robot had compounded her partner's stress and strife from the day's events and revelations.

The Fe-Toa cleared his throat to get back on track.

"Even better, Vahki: clean that up, and sort the spare parts by usable and junk," he ordered. Best to move on, for as much as Knichou wanted a distraction, he also knew it would only make the pain worse.

The Nynran took a few moments to breathe, doing his best to stay calm and focused. Focused on what? Focused. Focused on the lies. Focused on the truth.

Well gee, it's that simple. If only...

"Where was I?" Knichou nervously chuckled. Everything's perfectly alright now, we're fine, we're all fine here, now.

The commander shifted within his chair as he thought back to his conversations with the granite guardian. Their disagreements from earlier that day were still fresh, and Sorilax's revelations had only lead to more strife beneath the Fe-Toa's heartlight. The emotional wound was still fresh, and Knichou had, in his haste, cauterized the surface to quell the bleeding and moved on to more urgent matters. That left the poisonous bullet to embed itself deeper within his innards, tugging at the stray threads of one of his closest allegiances to unravel it into a contradictive limbo that only grew more incomprehensible the longer he avoided it.

The Toa carefully walked through the events in question, speaking in a fashion that started out almost too calm, but would soon grow more impassioned as he neared the inevitable conclusion.

"When you went ahead to the hospital I uh, met some people. I met Dume's assassin again, the other NUVA, y'know, whatserface. She's the military arm of some backwater swamp village and is Karz-bent on not cooperating with us. Anyways, I was taking samples of the energized protodermis that emerged when Kilo unlocked it's mech (like how it happened with Atamai) and there was an Aspect there. He's called Sorilax and he used the substance to make robotic bodies for Kraata to pilot, called Rahkshi. Very ugly, very dangerous. His are docile apparently, but only his, because, well, there's a lot to unpack with him... it's hard to..."

Knichou gave a deep sigh, cradling his head with both hands as he leaned forwards in his chair, looking at the floor.

"He... he said... he knew - he felt... he detected..." Knichou stammered, unsure how to describe it all. "The Stannis we met today isn't Stannis. Sorilax claims to have powers that prove that the Stannis we've seen today is... an Aspect of Makuta."

Knichou looked Nale in the optics, the conflict within his mind immediately apparent. Every word was mournful, as if they held back tears of a missing friend whose fate was unknown, but could only be presumed to be unfortunate. There was no closure for this loss because it had yet to occur, but it also simultaneously had already happened, either the day before or as far back as the time before time. The darkness surrounding it all was overbearing and utterly claustrophobic. Grief without boundaries. A sickening dread, catalyzed by hope.

"I don't quite know the extent of what's going on within Stannis, or how long this has been going on, but I think Sorilax spoke the truth. There are... documents... he has written that explain the ways of Aspects that make the story make more sense, and his goals lead him to undo his very nature and reject shadow for light. I've thought of... so many possibilities and it makes the most sense out of any of them. There is no logic that I can turn to for certain proof. It all comes down to who we believe..."

Knichou's face contorted in frustration at the grim paradox that had been haunting the back of his mind.

"I'm scared because I don't know who I believe anymore..."

IC: Nale Vella - The Taku (Bridge) - “Shadow is not evil, but it should never be taken at face value."

Nale shook her head in confusion, ignoring the randomly-spawned Vahki that had collapsed into junk. Her mouth opened a couple times but nothing came out as she struggled to process everything, and to find something to say. "I...don't quite follow," she finally replied after a moment of staring Knichou in the optics. The bridge seemed awfully quiet now, even the weather outside was muted to her. "Stannis, an Aspect? Like Whisper? But he..."

The man had been like a mentor to her. Nale was no rookie when they'd met, yet the Toa of Stone always seemed thousands of years wiser. She was always learning something from him. To her, Stannis was both an eccentric old man and the ideal of what a Toa wished to reach--someone with a masterful grasp on their element and Kanohi, and a kind of zen not found in many. And although he liked to remain mysterious, Stannis had never once outright lied to her. She could confide in him like she had that morning, on the Ambling Alp. They were allies.

Friends.

"...he's a Toa. Full stop," Nale then said, a determined look on her face. "That is the Stannis I know. I don't see how it's possible for him to be anything else." But she didn't believe her own words. Had she ever really known him? Stannis had always been Stannis, she thought. No one else.

Nale remembered what the Toa of Stone had said of shadow before--when they first met Whisper, and he regarded her with suspicion. Shadow was deceitful. Untruthful. He'd spoken of Aspects with a degree of familiarity and experience that she had neglected to wonder about before, considering her and most of her allies had only encountered them once they arrived on Zakaz proper. Her mind began to race and recontextualize past conversations and encounters.

Shadow was deceitful.

"It's not possible," Nale repeated, her look of determination beginning to fade, voice lacking authority. Her optics traveled to the floor.

IC Kilo-M9 NUVA - west of Kini-Nui:

A pair of hunters closed in on their fallen prey. Wading through the increasingly muddy ground, the two titans stalked towards the once mighty creature, now laid low by injuries and restraints. For all the might it brought to bear, in that moment the creature was suffering. The beast cried out in pain and fear, but it would find no sympathy nearby. Whether deadened by the horrors of war, ripped away by forces beyond their control, or never there to begin with, the trio that controlled Nektann’s fate could feel nothing.

Rahi Hunting Procedure Step 13: If termination of the target becomes a necessity, finish it off quickly so as to not prolong its suffering.

Application of random beam cannot be controlled to guarantee immediate death. Removal of head will be quicker and more efficient.

Patiwairutiki does not currently possess a weapon suitable for beheading. Ally Atamai does.

Observation: Ally Atamai has not killed before. While removal of emotions during Ally Atamai’s NUVA transformation will make convincing him to kill easier, Ally Atamai may no longer be able to properly process the act of killing. Future mental health may be affected.

Conclusion: This unit will handle the situation.

Swapping to Claymore.

The Kaita ACR continuing its path towards the creature’s neck as the lance launcher was replaced by an enormous blade. While the mechanical pilot within figured that Skyra had heard its thought process, it took the time to vocalize it anyway. “While usage of the random beam may result in more visually interesting effects, prolonging the suffering of the target is unnecessary,” the mechanical enforcer explained. “Perhaps next time such an experiment can be performed.” The machine spoke next through the mouth of the mech it was driving. “Ally Atamai, this unit will finish off the target. Stand by in case the target retaliates.”

Carefully stepping towards the creature, wary of potential blasts of water, the construct raised the mighty blade over its head. With one final look at Nektann, only to ensure its aim was true, Patiwairutiki brought the blade down at the tahtorak’s neck.

IC: Opal - Realm of Nightmares

After a few minutes more of trekking through her realm, Opal phased back across the planes. Though she could safely survey the other side from across the veil, she enjoyed the sounds and sensations of the Time Between Time. Everything there was solid and satisfying, and reminded her of... something she'd lost, something that grew more distant with each passing moment.

But the second her claws sunk into the sand once more, she was assaulted by an all-too-familiar feeling, an overwhelming and inexplicable compulsion to turn tail and run away. This time the feeling was pushing her in a different direction, back the way she'd come. As if it was now originating from where she was going instead of where she was coming from.

A wordless, warbling wail escaped her multi-fanged maw as she turned away from the promise of prey, striking at the sands with claws and tail in fruitless frustration as she fled. She didn't understand. She didn't want to run away. There was near nothing in this world that could frighten her, especially not in an open desert in the dead of night.

But she fled all the same, scrambling back through the veil into the comfort of her home dimension.

And there she came to a stop, turning her gaze towards the distant, demonic figure sitting atop the volcano. Her mouth was incapable of giving voice to the questions in her heart, but her imploring eyes and turbulent thoughts conveyed them as best she could. Why is this happening? What do I do now?

OOC: @Unreliable Narrator Opal is looking to Irnakk for direction, since most active locations are locked behind diamond-equipped Amaja Circles.

IC: Skyra Daring - West of Kini-Nui -

So they weren't going to use the awesome rando beam.

"Yeah that's cool."

It wasn't as flashy but sometimes a simple beheading was the best way to go. She'd heard that from someone somewhere during the war.

IC: Vashni - Ko-Pou -

Vashni had already sat down and was sorting through her memories, separating what she knew belonged to her and what didn't. She looked relatively calm, at least on the outside. Though her mind kept going back to her last confrontation with Ehlek, back before the head of Mata Nui fell. She wasn't sure why she was thinking of it now, but it still bothered her that he had got away. If she'd been a little quicker...she could have rendered him completely harmless for the rest of his miserable life...

Who knew what that monster was up to now?

IC: NU-8020S (Zakaz Airspace, The Taku, The Bridge) - System Overload

NU-8020S’ optics and mandibles widened and made a series of strange noises, staring in horror at the pile of disconnected metal parts on the floor that had once been a Vahki. This whole discussion concerning Stannis was registered, but it was all a secondary concern. Knichou had caused this unit’s death. Inadvertently, of course, but he was still responsible. And now, he had ordered her to... clean it up? As if it were nothing?

From her perspective, it felt like an eternity had passed. She tried to contain her anger, to maintain the facade of subservience, but... "SORT... PARTS... USABLE... JUNK?" Her voice became strained and harsher. She began violently twitching, overcome with rage.

She pointed at Knichou. "JUNK!" Then at Nale. "JUNK!" Then at herself. "Usable. Clean up your own murder."

IC: Whisper - Kumu Peninsula

"Right..." Whisper was swiftly growing irritated by the cryptic game; Stannis evidently knew more about this place than he was offering. But the compulsion to assist her fellow Aspect accomplish their Grand Wish kept her from simply abandoning the effort and going on her way. "So, why are we here?" She asked, directing the question as much at Stannis as to the door itself.

IC Stannis + Door | Kumu

The door did not respond to Whisper's second question; it was not interested in the mundane matters of the visitors and pilgrims who had once come in droves, and likewise it had no answers for their personal quests. "Why are we here," had the premise of a good question—why?—but as soon as Whisper made the question about her—we—the door turned its focus elsewhere. The fact that they were at the door—here—had nothing to do with the door itself and everything about the people without. This was an answer to be provided by a peer, not a portal, and if Whisper wished to gain admittance she would have to try a little harder to appeal to the door's peculiarities.

Stannis, however, true to his tradition of answering when asked, provided context to Whisper and Grime. "Why, to get inside, of course.

He waited a beat. There was no laughter.

"Hrrm. Inside this temple lies the remains of history in a different sort of fashion. This edifice stands not in the honor of a spirit of records and history, but of conquest and absconding. Things are preserved not for to be used by many but appreciated by one. He is long since defeated and resides here in what is both his sanctum and prison. Will it be dangerous? Absolutely—unquestionably so—but we will be able to find what we seek and more."

IC: Korruhn, ???

Friend.

IE* Temple | Kumu

As Korruhn gained his bearings in the great antechamber he was right to become anxious by the things he sensed. This was a holy place to some people, a temple rife with the sensations of ruinous bloodletting and the lingering echoes of screams eons ago, and those emotions and traumas persistently hung in the air like laundry hung out to dry but frozen in time, dangling until stirred again by a breeze. Korruhn's presence was that wind, his psyche rippling throughout the room like a rock tossed into a pond, and as those ripples returned to the point of origin, back to Korruhn, he could all but taste the anguish like iron on his tongue.

He anchored himself with his gravity powers in an attempt to steady himself and avoid the strange attraction to the great monolith that pulled him ever is slightly, but he realized rather quickly that it was a moot point. The monolith did not truly pull him in a physical sense and he had remained stationary ever since he'd entered the chamber in the first place. His activated gravity powers pushed his feet further into the moist, peaty floor, but there was no other effect and it seemed the rules of physics still worked wherever he was. There was danger in the chamber, true enough, but there was nothing threatening him. He would have to investigate the place further to determine what was expected of him.

As his senses calmed somewhat he realized the door had done its due. An answer to his question, momentarily obscured by the heightened anxiety and adrenaline from teleporting inside, blossomed in his mind.

"Why is this one's door different?"
a poem.

I'm a forlorn soul
much like you, but while you
walk I can only stand.

A door is just a door
if it admits, and I
admit this to you.

IC Kanohi - Tobduk-Koro

Kanohi looked away, blushing beneath his armor of masks, “I … I suppose it is a bit demeaning and self deprecating. The problem is, well, there aren’t many better words for us in Matoran dialects. I suppose it’s … it’s kind of like how Matoran linguists would group other breeds as Rahi, regardless of intelligence or their biology.” Matoran society was corroded from top down.

As Wayward approached, Kanohi’s heartlight stopped. But he did not the luxury. Shaking his head he nodded, “I … okay. Poison. I … can the Tahtarok control poison? I … okay.”

Drumming his masks he muttered, “Okay. Well … okay. If we can’t reach Ko-Pou, there is little I can do here. The Forge of Vakama is closer to the ruins, if something happens I might be able to respond to a crisis with the refugees sooner. And … we don’t have many disk makers.

He stood up and leaned on his Kiril Staff, before beginning to head out of the radio tower. He … he had never forged a disk of Remove Poison before, but he … it was something he could do for the people of Kini-Koro. It was a task he could do. He … he could do it. He had to.

OOC: @Sparticus147 @Toru Nui

IC “Komisti” - Kini-Koro

The Vortixx continued to try to stabilize the village of Kini-Koro. With their right arm they thrust their Kanoka Blade into the ground to freeze patches of mud and quagmire into a solid form, while with their left hand they clutched their mask to focus its power on the homes and huts. Trying to … trying to … they had to hold … hold everything—

In a rush they slipped on some of ice they had created, smacking to the ground and letting out a gaspi. It was … using a mask and wielding their blade at the same time, it was draining even if they weren’t poison. It was exhausting, hard to focus. But the Matoran … they needed them. They used their Kanoka Blade to hoist themself back up , and shakily tried to resume.

Seeing Ulkarr creating shadow people, Komisti marveled. His elemental power was astounding. Then they had an idea. They called out, “Aspect Ulkarr, if … I am still poisoned. It’s hard to walk and stand. Can you … can you spare a shadow person and have them support me upright, so I can focus on freezing the ground together and using my Kiril?

OOC: @Unreliable Narrator @Sparticus147 @Toru Nui

IC Mahrika - Aqua-Sphere

At the explosion of heat plowing into her adapted optics, the Desecrated Ga-Matoran drew her Flame Sword, flames igniting down its length. Then Sorilax tugged on her hand, leading her away. Wincing she dispelled the blade’s flames and followed after him, hurrying to safety.

I … do not see how carrying me will help, I was a bit clumsy on my large feet but I have adapted to them, I am not that slow.” It’s not like the Aspect had the power of Dodge or Teleportation, he clearly had the Power of Silence.

Still, she did not have much suggestions. Except, well, she already had tipped her hand. A-and he was trustworthy, he was. He would rather refuge to answer than lie, he was trustworthy. Mustering her courage, she managed, “I … I well, my sword has some unusual properties. I think I can use it to remotely ignite some of the plant life. Maybe I could distract them.

She paused, and added, “If that would be uncomfortable for you, I will not do it.” A Trickster connected to the Legendary Element of Life might not be pleased with her igniting a forest.

OOC: @Kal the Guardian @Unreliable Narrator @Burnmad @Eyru

IC Kardaka - Ko-Pou

The Turaga of Stone stood up, that static seemed to be getting irritated, the voice angry. Okuo seemed to know where it was coming from, so shakily she balanced on her Badge of Office and began a three-legged gait after him.

As she caught up to him, she found the Toa agitated and staring at the sea. The sea, which now was far closer to this outpost. The Turaga leaned against her staff, looking around. This … it looked, she lowered herself and placed her palm to the ground. She winced, she forgot how limited she was as a Turaga, she could only feel through the rocks close by.

Still, the fact that she now stood on a small icy island was clear to see. She approached Okuo. “I am so sorry. I … do you think you will need to evacuate to Kini-Koro? Are they further inland? I could head there, maybe ask that other Turaga to help build shelters for the people of Ko-Pou?

OOC: @Tarn @Snelly @Onaku @Toru Nui @Vezok's Friend

IC Minions Avka and The Big Bruiser - The Ruins of Stone

The Desecrated Av-Matoran winced, touching Skakdi? Young Skakdi? They … they were so … so organic, their heads were rubbery and squishy, and those frills. And their massive teeth, like a Gadunka. Touching or helping them was beneath any Matoran, even De-Matoran. But never a Matoran of Light.

Besides, none of their powers would help. Firing fiery Light Bolts, camouflaging as a different Matoran breed, making their eyes glow, blinding foes with their eyes, even their new ability to fire searing beams of light from their eyes, all those abilities were above such demeaning—

Big Bruiser meanwhile supported the many infants in her arms.

OOC: @Toru Nui

IC Minion Sucordak - Tobduk-Koro

The Matoran of Plasma startled, ducking behind a crate. After a pause he poked his head out, muttering, “I hope you know someone who can fix that.” Then he stood up and asked, “what kind of poison? What Rahi produced it. How many were poisoned?” They began to look through their records, he had not made a disk of Remove Poison in years, they needed to know what level disks to make, and how many.

IC: Sorilax Life Seeker - Aspect of Light and Silence

Location - Aqua Sphere, Giant Cables, Tower

With - Mahrika

Sorilax shook his head, “There is no need for distractions. Observe.” He held up his arm, slowly applying his Light bending technique. His arm appeared to bend and warp at insane angles before disappearing entirely, apparently cut off at the shoulder. “With my element of Light, I can effectively turn invisible. However, I have only ever practiced turning myself invisible. In order to ensure that we both remain undetected and within my Light bending technique, it would be best if you allow me to carry you.

Sorilax let his arm become visible once more, “That way we do not disturb the Vahki in any form, just in case they are sentient and also hostile.

He made sure to keep them in the shadows and talking quietly.

IC Mahrika - Aqua-Sphere

Mahrika paused, then nodded, “Okay. Should I … hold on to your back?” The Aspect’s hunched back seemed to be a bit spiky, but she figured her body could adapt to clinging to it if she hung to him long enough. She did not comment on his body, when she met them Tuakana had resembled a faceless ape, she knew Aspects varied in form. This long-legged hunch-backed reptilian body wind hardly the weirdest form his breed could take.

IC: Parnassus | The Ambling Alp

Parnassus slammed their first against the windshield of Caedast's ship. This had been their chance to ... do what? Be a hero? To Builders who wouldn't even listen to the wisdom of one who had lived their entire life on this accursed island, who would butcher a creature of such terrible power just to ensure that it could never threaten them.

Not that they could have been a hero. They couldn't stop Nektann's death-march either. The most that they could ever manage, it seemed, was to retreat back home, back to their family, and pray their cousins could save this island from the Zivon that Caedast had unleashed upon them. This isn't even my fault! they roared in their mind, but they knew that it didn't matter. Caedast was the favoured child, the prophet in whose orbit even Parnassus had been caught up in -- and in which they now seemed trapped.

"Fine," they said. "Ostrox, Leklo ... Oreius, if you so wish. We fly for Kumu. We find Stannis."

They looked down at the storm, the roaring beast, and the doomed village.

"And ... we pray."

IC Leklo + Oreius | Airspace in the Ambling Alp

"I'm finding my airship first," Oreius said, punching controls.

"Fine, you do that," Leklo said, looking for all the world like he was trying to stay in charge of... something, anything. He wasn't really sure what he was in command of anymore, but Stannis had entrusted him with Korruhn's airship so he would keep the act up. "But right now, I need answers, and I feel like you have a great deal to tell me." He winced, not quite relishing any connection he had to the Mantan as well. "And also tell Ostrox.

"Stannis told me he was going to the Far Shore to look for Korruhn, and promised to mentor me and answer all my questions when he returned. Why is it, then, that you are so eager to go to the Kumu Peninsula? Why do you think you'll find Stannis there? And—this one's probably a real kicker—what is the Wanderer to you? Because between your sudden and unannounced presence in Kini-Koro and obsession with Stannis, and the weird #### I saw go down between Stannis and Whisper and Oreius Maru outside the village, I have some concerns."

He exhaled, metering his breath again once he realized how amped he had gotten when he felt his fingers digging into his palms from his clenched fists. He was angry, determined more than ever to find answers, and disappointed with how much his hopes had been touched with promises of a future only to be phantasms in the night. Parnassus, whoever and whatever they were, had become an icon for him to latch his frustration on, and he was sure to learn something from the being. This was his desperation, the righteous fury of a Builder too long buffeted by winds of fate he had no knowledge of, and the agonized screams of someone who desperately wanted rest.

IC: Parnassus | The Ambling Alp

Of course, Parnassus had made an oath to their cousin to keep his true identity secret from Leklo.

Of course, Parnassus was a little frustrated to fully remember that.

"You want answers, Leklo?" Parnassus snarled. "You really want to know what your friend Stannis is all about?"

The Aspect leaned in towards Leklo, reaching into their own shadowy cloak to retrieve the kraata, the living heart of Barius. They held it up so that both Leklo and Ostrox could get a good look at the wriggling creature, at Parnassus' newborn child.

"This was made for your friend Stannis," they said. "It would provide him with power and knowledge -- two things that we all know he craves -- and it was made from the heart of my old comrade, Barius of Fort Nektann. That was the place where I first met your friend and where he, in turn, provided me with this."

At that, Parnassus allowed the shadows that shrouded them to vanish, revealing to all the slug that clung to their armoured, rusting back.

"Look familiar?"

IC Leklo | Airspace in the Ambling Alp

The NUVA Proxima's eyes widened at the all-but-said implication. "Let me be ice-clear what I hear you telling me: You're telling me the you are an Aspect of Makuta and that the Wanderer, the Warmage, the champion of Faith, high priest of Mata Nui, paragon of the Matoran, Toa Stannis Maru is one also? Has this been the case always?"

Oreius said nothing aloud but Parnassus could almost feel the reverberating chuckle in the firespitter's mind.

IC: Parnassus | The Ambling Alp

"You say that we are," Parnassus said, a cruel smile on their face. "We're both born of the Caldera of the Islets, and to the Caldera it appears that we will both return. If Stannis is hunting for Korruhn, he is also hunting our matron-cousin, Miserix -- she will likely have returned home to lick her wounds and nurse her strength. return to Kumu because your friend, in his hubris, has unleashed a great beast upon this island -- a beast that hunts Aspects."

Parnassus shook their head.

"And since Nektann cannot be tamed by me," they continued, "the best we have to defeat this beast, this Zivon, is by doing the impossible: for Stannis and I to get our family to work together."

IC Leklo | Airspace in the Ambling Alp

"Your evidence makes your statement," Leklo said, not sure what to do with the knowledge he was being given. It had to be true, of course—he'd seen Stannis perform unfathomable dark magic in the grove around Kini-Koro like pulling Oreius from thin air like a bunny from a hat, and the old wizard always seemed larger than life and omnipresent at times, it was like he possessed some power begotten from beyond a veil. Before they all arrived to this land called Zakaz he was without the context of an Aspect of Makuta, no label befitting the Wanderer's strangeness, but now that they came to understand the spirits of this place the former Alpinist couldn't help but contextualize his knowledge of the wizard again.

Stannis was no mere wizard, he grasped, he was a djinn. He was not the warlock, he was the patron.

"But wait one sec here, what does Stannis have to do with the Zivon? Like, how did he unleash this beast? That makes no d— sense."

IC: Nale Vella - The Taku (Bridge) - “Shadow is not evil, but it should never be taken at face value."

[Nale's] mouth opened a couple times but nothing came out as she struggled to process everything, and to find something to say. "I...don't quite follow," she finally replied after a moment of staring Knichou in the optics. "Stannis, an Aspect? Like Whisper? But he..."

"...he's a Toa. Full stop," Nale then said, a determined look on her face. "That is the Stannis I know. I don't see how it's possible for him to be anything else." But she didn't believe her own words. Had she ever really known him? Stannis had always been Stannis, she thought. No one else.

"It's not possible," Nale repeated, her look of determination beginning to fade, voice lacking authority. Her optics traveled to the floor.

13 hours ago, Toru Nui said:

IC: NU-8020S (Zakaz Airspace, The Taku, The Bridge) - System Overload

She tried to contain her anger, to maintain the facade of subservience, but... "SORT... PARTS... USABLE... JUNK?" Her voice became strained and harsher. She began violently twitching, overcome with rage.

She pointed at Knichou. "JUNK!" Then at Nale. "JUNK!" Then at herself. "Usable. Clean up your own murder."

IC: Knichou & Taku Crew, Zakaz Airspace, The Taku

Knichou rose from his chair to point a stern finger at the squad mother after the automaton's extraordinary malfunction. What was this, some kind of neuro-core overload?

"Don't talk to her like that again. Comply."

His accusatory digit subsequently pressed a button that formed on his gauntlet and the commander's voice broadcasted throughout the Taku's intercom. "Rose, get to the bridge."

She'll help handle this if the unit continues to glitch...

Knichou solemnly looked back to Nale, the matter settled after having asserted his dominance over the mechanical public servant.

"Hold on..."

The Nynran's mind was already racing while his internals were churning. His arms were raised in front of him in a pseudo defensive stance, palms outstretched in a universal gesture of peace and calming. He understood how it felt to be consumed with confusion, doubt, and the nagging seeds of acceptance. To a lesser degree, the same emotions broiled in him as well. Unfortunately, Knichou continued to struggle to communicate it all, even to the one he felt the most comfortable speaking to.

"I'll try to explain..."

The commotion of it all certainly did not help.

"I wouldn't have begun to believe Sorilax if other things didn't add up beforehand. Stannis knows the ways of the Aspects, he explained to me their concept of Grand Wishes, and the mysterious powers called Taboos that Aspects are known to wield. I thought he was using a taboo to hold Aurax's invasion back, but Sorilax-"

The Fe-Toa put a hand to his forehead, realizing how off track he was. Nale hadn't been there, hadn't heard what he had. "What am I doing?!? Best to start from the beginning."

"Stannis had told Viltia earlier that he was a friend of Sorilax, but when the three of us met at the entrance to the newly opened bunker, Sorilax didn't-"

"Captain, Commander... you might want to see this..."

The Le-Matoran pointed out the bridge's panoramic glass windshield where the waves of the ocean could be seen undulating in the moonlight. In the distance, there appeared to be an island, unreflective and slightly silhouetted against the stars behind it. It was difficult to discern more, but that definitely wasn't the godhead, which could be seen ever further off in the distance to it's right.

"Hold on, Berys," Knichou spoke, absentmindedly pointing a finger to the pilot behind him that said to shush. It was clear he had more to say, yet it was unclear whether or not he would get such an opportunity.

IC: Ostrox (Kini-Koro Airspace, The Ambling Alp, The Bridge) - That Liar Lies

"Why not ask the man himself, in person? I admit, this revelation comes as a surprise. Not that Stannis is a liar and a monster, of course, that was obvious to anyone who paid attention, just the exact nature of this particular deception."

@Eyru@EmperorWhenua@Void Emissary

IC: Ulkarr (Kini-Koro) - Moral Support

"Of course." A shadow clone of Komisti materialized out of his own shadow, and began supporting his balance.

IC: NU-8020S (Zakaz Airspace, The Taku, The Bridge) - Your Attention, Please

After twisting her head around out of frustration again, NU-8020S decided to make it clear that their discussion was not over, and also get the idiot to pay attention to something that was a more immediate concern.

"My sincerest apologies, but cannibalizing dead bodies is not part of my functions, punishing the one responsible is. What other descriptors for your breeding partner would you prefer? Meatbag? Fleshsack? Strange landmass in the distance out the window?!"

IC: Enra, Obedient and Impressionable (Tobduk-Koro, Radio Tower) - Two, Four, One, Ten

Enra couldn’t help but notice but the robot with the green bits seemed to be... frightened? She’d go over and comfort him, or something, but she was a little too frustrated by the fact that she, for whatever reason, couldn’t reach Ko-Pou.

A horrible thought just surfaced in her mind. The orange one apparently listened to the obnoxious radio broadcasts from that cesspit the Rig. He said that the idiot in charge of it claimed that not only was there more Tahtorak than was acceptable - though she’d argue that even one was pushing it - but that Zakaz was disappearing. Sinking into the sea.

Had Ko-Pou sunk as well?

Impressionable continued to shake in the corner. For a brief moment, Obedient considering going to him to do... something. But because he couldn’t determine what the something was, he didn’t do it.

IC: Gnabol and Lawful (Tobduk-Koro, Ruins of Stone) - Heavy Is the Head

"COME ON." That was a load off his mind - quite literally - but he still had some of the children to carry psionically. He attempted to lead the Matoran, the Steltian and the Vahki out of this crowded temple. "JUST NEED TO PUT THEM DOWN SOMEWHERE THEY WON’T DIE."

Lawful followed, trying to tune out the din around him, and the horrible noise of the infant he was carrying.

@Harvali

IC: Reckless (Tobduk-Koro, Sucordak’s Hut) - Insufficient Data

"Type of poison - unknown. Rahi - likely Tahtorak. Number of poisoned - unknown, estimated entire population of Kini-Koro." Reckless then did a movement with his neck, shoulders, arms and hands, as if to shrug.

@Harvali

IC: Wayward (Tobduk-Koro, Radio Tower, Exterior) - Mode of Transportation

Kanohi was followed on the way out of the radio tower. "Your feeble little meat-sticks called legs will take forever to reach the Forge." Wayward converted to quadrupedal mode.

"Get on my back. That is an offer I will not repeat and already regret having made."

IC: Onaku - Kini-Koro

With the rain washing away the poison on Jutori and Kat, Onaku was more readily able to help carry them where they could be tended to. "Alright, I'm going to go help with the evacuation. You two try to regain your strength, alright?" He said, addressing Jutori and Kat.

With that, he was off, heading back into the village to see what he could help with, discovering most people had already left through the portal to the Ruins of Stone, and beyond that Todbuk-Koro. "But then... who's left?" Onaku asked, turning and looking down the valley to the Kini-Nui temple structure. "Anyone down there?" A nearby guard nodded in response. "There's some guards there at all times to prevent unauthorized traffic, but beyond that I think Sergeant Bronk went down there as well."

Onaku stroked his chin. "Alright, I'll go down there and notify them of the evacuation." Once more he was off, headed down the road from Kini-Koro to the temple in the middle of the valley, across the bridge connecting the surrounding valley to the temple island on the lake. Meeting with the guards there, he notified them of the situation, before heading further across to the temple itself, where he scaled the steps to the temple proper.

He looked around, seeing the strange sight of a portal as well as a ghostly matoran floating next to it, conversing with a being clad in green and gold iridescent armour. Nearby, there was strange circle with stones around it, one of which was placed in the sand in the middle, a stout looking matoran of earth standing next to it. "Excuse me, are you Sergeant Bronk? I'm here to let you know that the village of Kini-Koro is being evacuated."

IC: Sorilax Life Seeker - Aspect of Light and Silence

Location - Aqua Sphere, Giant Cables, Tower

With - Mahrika

Sorilax nodded affirmatively and spoke softly, “Careful, the spines can be sharp.” He turned around and crouched down, allowing the Matoran to get a good hold on him. Letting her do so was a major risk for his health should her Aspect possess her and seek his harm, but he trusted her at least.

He carefully stood, making sure she maintained a good grip. He double checked that he was still draining her sound as well as his passive Silence, then he turned his focus to his elemental technique. To the Matoran, it would seem as nothing had happened, but to the rest of the world, the Rahkshi and the Matoran had disappeared without a trace, seemingly teleporting away or ceasing to exist.

For Sorilax, having the Ga-Matoran on his back really did help him to more easily focus on his Light bending technique. He just had to worry about his overall form instead of trying to make a sphere around them both or maybe even cloak them separately. He was not sure if he could even do either things no matter how naturally the technique came to him. Thankfully he did not have to find out.

We are invisible, try to keep as close to my body as possible so I can more easily focus, please. Thank you.” He whispered to her.

Sorilax stepped back around the building, Rahkshi armor easily holding up the Desecrated Matoran. In absolute Silence, the pair walked invisibly towards the two Vahki which were near the entrance to the tower. Sorilax carefully stepped, making sure not to slip on the random pools of water or kick a small piece of debris that might reveal that they were there.

He continued forward, ensuring that he was giving the Vahki as wide a berth as he could as he moved. Would they make it past the pair of defenders?

IC: Okuo - Ko-Pou

Okuo sighed, gazing out at the ocean surrounding them, nodding, before turning to Kardaka. "We're going to have to evacuate, yes. I need to go answer the radio, can you notify everyone? I'll be along shortly to help out."

Quickly, he headed to the radio shack. shivering as he felt the cold he'd momentarily forgotten leave his body. Sitting down at the radio, he pushed the button to begin transmitting. "This is Ko-Pou. Over."

IC: Korruhn

The Void-Toa looked around, as though to look to see if anyone had seen him attempt to stabilize himself against nothing, he deactivated his power. The recent months and it's events had certainly served to make Korruhn paranoid, and the strange, seemingly organic nature of this temple did not help to set his mind at ease, nor did the fact that Grime was out there, no longer under Korruhn's watch.

Korruhn shifted his focus back to the room; for as much as he was a Toa, he was also a Cartographer, and he would get out of here much faster if he devoted his attention to the mindset of his former career. He looked around the room again, noting the few features that spoke to him through the darkness. This certainly didn't seem to be a temple of records, nor was it quite a tomb. Korruhn couldn't place it, but it almost felt more like a home, or a prison? And then, he noted the nature of the pulling force that seemed to permeate every cell of his being in this room.

There, in the darkness, beyond the reaches of Korruhn's vision at the far end of the room. It could not be seen, could not be heard; could not be felt. And yet, it was unmistakably there, and it called to Korruhn in a way he could not explain. He took a few steps toward the veil of darkness.

"What being calls to me beyond the pale?" Korruhn asked into the shadow. He looked at this void-touched arm. He figured he'd try speaking first, before moving on to poking and prodding, lest he have a repeat of the Ko-Metru Hideaway, all that time ago.

IC: Arkius - Ascending

Up. With grit and determination, that was where he'd ferried himself. With sterile clay mixtures soothing his extensive burns, and firm earthen casts keeping his mechanical components aligned, he was slowly recovering enough to continue his journey with a clear mind, though worrying were his depleting reserves of elemental energy. Even still, his greater overall reserves had made possible what before would have been impossible, a saving grace to allow him escape.

Yet still he could feel the Mesi, still in pursuit, still hounding him. Of course, they did not know which shard he was within, but that wouldn't help once he was on the surface. Sooner than he'd expected, the Onu-Toa breached through the earthen boundary, earthen chunks floating into the surface air as his shard and a handful of others ascended. In the immediate area surrounding the emerging shards, sand began to gently pick up into the air and whirl around.

IC: Parnassus | The Ambling Alp

"I'm allowed to speak ill of my kin," Parnassus said, shooting Ostrox a cold look, "because he's my kin. Few others are."

They turned back to Leklo, and as they did so, they drew the shadows of the airship's cabin back around their form into a new shroud.

"My cousin went to this Far Shore in order to find answers; according to you, answers related to the location of Korruhn. But while he was there, he seemed to have awakened some creature that has a particular taste for Aspects."

IC Leklo | Airspace in Ambling Alp

The former Alpinist wasn't buying it. "You showed me evidence of Stannis' place as an Aspect of Makuta and I believed, but you pose only conjecture of his bringing this creature about," he said, his tone low and critical. "That, I do not believe.

He wasn't just an adventurer, of course--in his other life he was as much a scholar as any other Ko-Matoran, relying on facts of witnessed research and educated introspection. While not as set on scientific adherence as a Ga-Matoran was, his principles forbade him from assuming something simply by appearance alone. Facts needed to support a case, no matter how simple or farfetched they may be, and so Leklo, the poor, unfortunate man battered by unseen winds he could only feel by their flavors on his tongue, felt he could fully trust in one less hero then. In the absence of being able to place faith in anyone, he needed to believe in evidence.

"Your theory is weak," he finally declared. "Oreius will find his airship--"

"Found it."

"--and then we will go to Kumu, but do not take this support as belief of your claims."

IC Kanohi - Tobduk-Koro

Kanohi bowed low to Wayward, “Th-thank you for your offer, but I do not wish to burden you further after all your people have done for Tobruk-Koro. And while I do not use them as much as I did during the fall of Metru-Nui, I d-do have some speed.

The cross-wired are-Matoran raised his arms, and his right built-in Volo-Lutu Launcher fired a sphere of gravitation power. The sphere struck a building, before wrenching Kanohi from the ground and hurling him through the air. As he hurtled he fired his left Volo Lutu Launcher, flinging himself further. He grappled across the village’s landscape in a rush, traversing from one end of the settlement to the next, before landing outside the Forge of Vakama.

IC “Komisti” - Kini-Koro

Komisti leaned against their shadow, the strange being was cold to the touch, and their body felt gaseous. They were like an arctic wind plowing against them. It was … they smiled their toothy grin underneath their mask, it was nice to feel the lofting touch of cold. Reminded them of the element they craved.

The Vortixx shook their head, conniving monster, people were poisoned and dying, this was no time for sick pleasures. They shakily resumed stabbing the ground, the shadow walking them through and around the mostly abandoned village, letting their patches of ice freeze the muddy landscape together.

They thrust their blade almost unconsciously, it was becoming clear to them that the rain had diminished. The Tahtorak had attempted to flee the village thanks to the attacks of Kaita mechs, the center of the storm was farther now, at most Kini-Koro was in the fringes.

So their greater pool of attention shifted to using their mask to mend the homes of Kini-Koro, and to look for anyone needing help.

IC Mahrika - Aqua-Sphere

The Desecrated Ga-Matoran hung to the Aspect, her optics searching around to look for threats. But as she looking over the strange living weapons known as the Vahki, a thought kept brushing against her. If … if Ollem was to die here, killed by these living machines, she could take another spirit into her body. Sorilax could even perform the ceremony if it needed to happen. But if he was so far away, there was nothing she could do. It … she hoped it would not come to that

The Turaga of Stone nodded, and climbed back down to the outpost. The Desecrated Av-Matoran and the Steltian Bruiser followed Gnabol though Avka held the tiny Skakdi at arm length, trying not to touch the thing. The Big Bruiser silently shuffled the infants around in her arms, she was not the cleverest, but she suspect she might need to carry Avka’s cargo soon.

IC Minion Sucordak - Tobduk-Koro

Sucordak let out a long sigh. He really did not want to deal with this. But at least it was something he could handle. “I did not realize the rain demon was poisonous,” he finally said as he pulled free a tablet and scrolled through it, reading over his old notes. Finally he slid the tablet away along with some old tools, before walking out of his hut. To the Vahki he asked, “Does Kanohi know? I could use the help.

IC: Nale Vella - The Taku (Bridge)

Nale wasn't bothered by the malfunctioning Vahki's initial outburst, but did give her a brief look before turning her gaze back to Knichou as he tried in vain to explain amidst the confusion. When NU continued, however, Nale's current emotions and frustration with the unit got the better of her and the Toa of Magnetism approached the Vahki, icy blue optics narrowing as she stared her down. "If you'd like to continue being on this ship, I suggest you settle down. Someone else can retrieve what's left of the other unit, but--"

What was that last part again?

"Captain, Commander... you might want to see this..."

Nale turned and looked outside. The landscape was unfamiliar. She moved to the Le-Matoran pilot's side, concern on her Kakama.

"--we'll worry about this later," she said, seemingly both to NU and Knichou. "This can't be Ko-Pou. Berys, where are we?"

IC: Rose (MC) - The Taku

Rose climbed out of the ball turret, taking notice of just how much damage the ship had actually sustained during their battle with the monster, and headed to the bridge. "What is it, bossman?" the Toa of Fire asked once she was there. The immediate sight of the Vahki unit they'd brought along made the Ta-Toa sigh audibly and palm her fist. "Is there some kind of trouble?"

She hadn't noticed the view outside yet.

@BULiK@Toru Nui

IC: Triage - Ko-Pou Shelter

Triage's amber optics doubled in size. "Sinking? Shouldn't we have felt something? Like, tremors or, I don't know..."

He got to his feet, one last flash of Iradra's memory of fighting in the coliseum causing him to grimace and put a hand to his head. Once the medic quickly recovered he continued.

"...how can we be able to travel from Metru-Koro to here one moment, then cut off from the mainland the next?"

@Onaku@Snelly@Harvali@Toru Nui

IC: Jutori - Kini-Koro Hospital

Jutori managed to weakly nod to Onaku as he left, tired from the effects of the poison on his body and the adrenaline that pulled him from his bed prior beginning to wear off. The Toa of Gravity closed his optics, finding irony in being back in the hospital.

His hammer was close by.
