IC: MC - Wing - Toa of Air

Location - Le-Metru Nuva

Wing cautiously pondered Viltia’s actions as the Toa of the Green moved about. She took in the splendor of the overarching Vuata Maca Tree. The pure EP seemed to be healing the land, but it was her job to keep Le-Metru Nuva safe no matter the circumstances. So she hesitantly enjoyed the renewal of the swamp around her. She wanted to enjoy it more, but danger could arise at any moment and from any source.

The birds sounded happy, not scared. The roars of predators were crisp like a bell, with a tone of purity she hadn’t realized had been missing. The air itself felt cleaner. And that for sure was something she realized the most after becoming a Toa herself.

As she sat in her guard post situated a little ways out from the village in the trees, she felt a sudden surge in power through her Kraata. She somehow knew she could control Rahi and Insects easier. She knew she had grown more accurate. But what really struck her was her body.

While she tried to keep her organic protodermis muscles in shape, it was often hard when sitting around a guard post every other day. But now her muscles were in better shape than they had ever been.

She made a couple mock attempts to throw a Kanoka, amazing at the level of strength her body now possessed. She felt healthier too.

It had to be her Life Kraata, for she felt far more in tune with the world around her. She could feel life energies swirling in her, forming new possibilities. She almost felt like… she could create herself?

She jolted as Sorilax’s mental voice suddenly filled her head, sounding desperate and hurried, I require aid! I implore you, make new Life of yourself, please!

Wing momentarily was stunned. Sorilax was in trouble? She needed to help him! But… she needed to guard the village. And make new life of herself? What in the world did that mean?

She tried to calm her suddenly racing mind. Sorilax hadn’t asked her to come to him, just to create Life. She knew she could already do that with Rahi. Had something more unlocked with the growth of her power?

She concentrated on her connection to Life, focusing it upon herself. Utilizing the same technique that she could use to duplicate Rahi, she turned that power from outwards to inwards. She felt her Kraata power make its mark on the world. She felt Life working through her. She gasped as not one, but two of her stood before her. They were half sized compared to her, but they looked exactly like her. They had no weapons like her, but they had their Illuminated masks and Kraata.

Wing didn’t know what to say. Could she command them like she could a Rahi duplicate? “Help Sorilax.

Before they could respond, the shadows surrounding them suddenly engulfed them, swallowing both whole.

They were gone.

IC: One - Rahkshi of Teleportation and Quick Healing

Location - Mi-Kiri, Elemental Temple of Light

With - Mahrika, Kas, Sorilax

One almost teleported to the Vahki at the door to attack with with staff of Fragmentation when he thought better of it. Actually, he was thinking far better than he just had been previously. Things that had been hard to grasp came easily. And his powers, they were stronger. A plan of attack suddenly came to him and he grabbed his Echo Forks, ready to bash them together in the direction of the Vahki when suddenly what started as a tilt to the room became a full tumble in the dark.

One did the best he could to stay oriented. He teleported to the nearby door and hung on, the shock that coursed through the room being of little note as he quickly healed from it. All he could see was the glow from Mahrika’s and Kas’ Illuminated masks and… wait. There were more glowing masks. He had no idea what was going on, but as the room continued to spin he did his best to look around the dark space of sloshing water and flailing bodies. If any Vahki started to attack, he tried his best to be ready to defend himself and the others of the room.

IC: Two - Rahkshi of Fragmentation and Life

Location - Mi-Kiri, Elemental Temple of Light

With - Mahrika, Kas, Sorilax, One

Two had been dormant, sedated. He was happy to let Sorilax lead the way. But when that wave of energy washed over him, he suddenly felt strange. Yes, he felt stronger and smarter, but there was something else. Something that wormed its way into the cracks of its mind and grabbed on tightly.

He knew he wouldn’t ever die from starvation, and yet… he hungered.

He tried to move his body, but his father was in complete control. He didn’t mind that, but he was so hungry.

IC: Three - Rahkshi of Chain Lightning and Dodge

Location - Le-Metru Nuva

Three sat up with a start. He looked around and got concerned when he didn’t see his father or his brothers. How was he awake? His father had been possessing him. What had happened? Was he awake for a reason? Had something gone wrong in the Aqua Sphere?

And why did his head feel clearer? His thoughts untangled.

Three started grabbing all the things his father had left behind in a rush. Whatever the reason for his awakening, he didn’t think it was good.

IC: Past Viltia #1 - Toa NUVA of the Green

Location - Near Le-Metru Nuva, Vuata Maca Tree

With - Vauta Maca Tree

Thank you.

Past Viltia #1 graciously accepted the Vuata Maca Crystal. It was a little disappointing that there was only one after all this work and the expenditure of so much pure EP, but nothing could be done about it.

She gathered the writings of the previous Past Viltia and the writings she had been keeping herself. She transformed them into a small wooden book, bound with rings of mahogany and a cover of elm bark.

Then she made a quick stop by the forging hut to gather supplies and she teleported off to report what had happened.

IC: Forgemaster Viltia NUVA - Toa NUVA of the Green

Location - Kini-Nui Valley

With - Zataka, Muaka NUVA Proxima

Viltia laughed, bubbly and joyous. No, no, I can teleport. I can also teleport while in my mech. So it’s across the ocean in the swamp, but nowhere near the Air Suva.

Zataka motioned for Viltia to follow her and she started to walk back to the great temple, ultimately leading them to the airship the previous group had been standing around.

Viltia lingered a little bit behind as they walked, debating what to do. She really wanted to help out Zataka, but she also needed to be here in case… Viltia beamed. She could see Sidra at the Wall of Prophecies, fiddling with something. A something that restored the mountains behind her and hopefully more of the island as well. Sidra had done it! Viltia was so glad. She knew her friend would get the results desired.

And that freed her up to go help Zataka! Viltia took a few steps to catch up with the Rite-born and then stopped as a Past Viltia teleported to her.

Past Viltia #1 handed her a book, a single Vuata Maca Crystal, and forging supplies. She seemed to be panting, “Sorry… about only one crystal… I tried the best I could.

Just what had past her done? Well, the book should tell her. “Thank you.

The Past Viltia nodded and then disappeared as she was released back to her own time.

Suddenly the other two past Viltias showed up, talking over one another. Viltia kept turning from one to the other, trying to decipher what they said. Perhaps on purpose, perhaps on accident, they spoke in unison, “Aqua Sphere falling! Out of elemental energy!

Concern flashed through Viltia like a fire through dry brush. She quickly dismissed the two Time Duplicates, ready to summon more when the strangest feeling came over her.

The heat of the day disappeared almost entirely. Her body felt more under her control even as her muscles strengthened to their maximum. Her connection to Life felt like it grew twofold. Sorilax rapidly spoke into her mind almost incomprehensibly with the instructions to create a new Legendary mask. He must truly be in trouble to have spoken so fast. But at least he was still alive. She wondered if the Aqua Sphere falling had anything to do with the Suvas losing power. Either way, he had given her the gift of a new mask to make. She wrote down the instructions in her book, hoping Sorilax remained okay.

She pushed the troubling thoughts out of her mind and tested out her new Life power, creating a half-sized duplicate of herself. She laughed in shock and her jaw hung open before it turned back into a smile. She immediately made as many duplicates as she could, though that only turned out to be one more for a total of two.

To the first one, she commanded, “Go help Sorilax.” And to the second, she commanded, “Since you’re a duplicate of me, go see if you can pilot Twekohui. If you can or can’t, then see if you can help with the falling Aqua Sphere.

They both nodded, and oddly, the first one paused, reaching out to her Muaka. Without any flash of light or special noise, a duplicate appeared of the Rahi, fully sized. Viltia gasped. Could she make full sized Rahi now too? The second one did the same. It seemed that she could!

The second Life Creation Viltia merged with her Muaka and teleported away. Viltia stared in slight shock. So that was what that looked like.

But her first Life Creation Viltia cried out in shock as shadows suddenly enveloped her and pulled both her and her Muaka away.

The power of Viltia’s Life Kraata let her know her duplicate still lived since she couldn’t make another, so Viltia did her best to focus back on Zataka and hope Sorilax was at work with weird Aspect stuff.

Viltia did a quick teleport to catch up and watched as Zataka got to work. Her new friend really seemed to know her way around an airship. Viltia’s Muaka poked his nose into the doorway and huffed. He grumpily activated his Kanohi power to shrink and kept going until he was about knee high. Then he rode his tread up into the airship and found a place to settle down.

At the problem of needing a hose, Viltia got the perfect idea. I’m on it, she mentally told Zataka. In the blink of a self-cleaning optic, Viltia was already teleported to the lake, not paying much mind to Atamai or Exuze or what that might mean about Axxon. She worked her element and formed a pricker-less cactus tube, enhancing and morphing a species that stored a lot of water naturally. She ran the cactus line along the ground towards the airship, finding the receiver intake where there was an open panel on the ship. The cactus line formed up to and then meshed with the intake.

Viltia placed a hand upon the unnaturally shaped plant and had it start drawing in the liquid protodermis of the lake. Soon enough, the tank of the airship started to fill.

IC: Life Creation Viltia #2 - Toa NUVA of the Green

Location - Le-Metru Nuva

With - Life Creation Muaka #3

Life Creation Viltia #2 flew down through the trees as they parted before her. She was conflicted in how she felt. She was her, and yet… she wasn’t. She had the same mind, same memories, same powers, as her creator, but she was some half-sized duplicate. And that wasn’t to mention that any orders from her creator were absolute. She couldn’t disobey.

It was a very, very odd thing to realize that you were the manifestation of a power.

But in very Viltia fashion, she decided not to think about it.

Instead, it was time to test out if she really was herself. She flew inside Twekohui’s cockpit and unmerged from her Muaka. She attempted to pilot the mech.

IC: Sorilax Life Seeker - Aspect of Light and Silence

Location - Elemental Temple of Light

With - Mahrika, Bellicus Kastus, One, Two

Even as the revelations of the blueprint of a Mask of Life Creation were revealed to him, he felt gravity suddenly take over. The ground was not as tall as he had thought. He could not look at the mask and keep it plugged in at the same time. That was certainly not intentional and potentially a bad thing. The sudden tilt of the room proved that to be the case even as Mahrika tried to warn him.

But the other revelations about the mask filled him with a righteous anger even as the Ignika cursed him and his gaseous body suddenly appeared and was woven into Two’s Rahkshi body. This was no Mask of Life. This mask was tainted by death, polluted by it. It was steeped in it. It was left to rot and decay within the fetid odors that only Death used to entice and defile.

And so this mask had no right to curse him. It held no right to condemn him to any fate when it was so corrupted and deserving of a cursing of its own. Sorilax wished to rebuke the mask, to put it in its place, but he could not speak as fast as his mind moved and someone or something was coming down the hallway.

So he placed judgement upon the Ignika silently. His will and command was iron in that moment and Two, even as his creation tried to stir from under his control, obeyed. Sorilax opened his spine and attempted to Illuminate the Ignika.

If it truly had a mind, a life, of its own, then it would be under his sway. And with a higher connection to Life itself, perhaps it might even be less corroded mentally.

As Two did that, Sorilax quickly sent the instructions for the Mask of Life Creation to Viltia as fast as he could think.

Whether the Illumination worked or failed, Sorilax wasn’t sure. For the room fell dark, gravity failed, and he experienced a revelation.

With the revelation came a jolt of electricity. Or perhaps the jolt was something else, he wasn’t sure. But what Sorilax did know is that he was right where he needed to be and he knew exactly what needed to be made. The shock was lost in the midst of the revealed truths.

Kas’ remark about the power only sparked him into action.

Sorilax felt his Kraata power surge, contained though it was. He felt Two’s connection to Life and understood what could now be accomplished. Short of finishing his Grand Wish, this was the closest he could get to Life itself.

He communicated to Wing, asking for her assistance. Once she gave it, Sorilax pulled upon the two duplicates, summoning them to his shadow. The first threw out her arms and tried to summon her element, only for it to fail and fall short, never manifesting. Instead she was taken in the tumble of the room. Both Wings’ power of Adaption quickly got to work, allowing them to breathe both air and water and the power doing its best to help stabilize them in the air and give them cushioning against debris. Where they struck the wall, their tiny, mutated barbs were enhanced to grip to the surface, keeping them in place.

First the one and then the second called upon their power of Insect Control, trying to summon large flying bugs for themselves to help them navigate the swirling room.

As she did this, Sorilax focused inwards even as his body was tossed about. He started to reach out to Viltia when he sensed she had already created her duplicates. There also were also a couple Rahi there, somehow also within his ability to control. An Illuminated Kanohi, perhaps.

He tugged on one of the Life Creation Viltias and one of the Rahi, pulling them to his shadow. The Viltia grabbed his arm before she could be swept away and had him touch her Taboo mark, the knowledge filling his mind in a moment of intensity. Tethers sprouted down his spine and back, seeking purchase throughout the room. “Finally,” she said as her other tethers reached out and kept her in place.

Now it was his turn. He created two duplicates of himself. They already knew what had to be done. When his body wasn’t covered in water, he called out a command for the sake of the rest assembled, “Beware the Vahki! Help me rewire the Ignika to the pillars!

The Muaka growled at the thought of aggressors. The growl was not meant to be a mere growl, but Sonics and Shadows working in tandem. But instead the Muaka was met with emptiness as his elements didn’t work. Instead his Adaption made him amphibious, webbed wings sprouting from his shoulders. He flapped, trying to keep himself upright in the water and air. The shadows somewhat retreated, the glowing masks and many silver tethers giving off enough light to allow the cables running from the top of the crystal pillars to be revealed to view.

Life Creation Viltia #1, Sorilax #1, and Sorilax #2 used their tethers to move in the absence of gravity, each one going first to one pillar and then the adjacent one to grab the small cables nearest them as well as they could in the dark and tumbling room.

Sorilax was in the center of the space, newly grown tethers holding him in place, Ignika still in his hand and now back to the place where it had been floating before. For a moment, he doubted if this would work, if everyone he summoned could even help him, and then a very familiar voice spoke into his mind.

Sorilax!

It was Sala! He was back!

Sorilax did not have time to respond, but his mind filled with joy and determination. As he was brought cables, he attempted to rejoin them to the mask.

Whew! 4 hours of almost non-stop writing later and I think I'm caught up with everything! This whole post went through minimal editing and I had to catch up to a lot of posts, so if anything doesn't make sense or I missed something or I accidentally did something wrong, let me know. I may be busy the rest of tonight and tomorrow, but hopefully I'll be able to finish this RPG strong. :D

Edit: Wow... :( I totally forgot there were no elements in the Temple of Light. Apologies for the mess-up. Hopefully now there's nothing wrong with the post.

One and Sorilax's parts have been changed.

Edited by Kal the Guardian
Forgot about the elemental nullification zone. Edited One and Sorilax's parts to reflect this.

IC: Nale Vella - Ehlek's Fortress

"Huh? Yeah, I'm fine," Nale replied nonchalantly, crouching behind the cover her partner had just created for them. Come to think of it, she should have been hurt after being ragdolled around the hallway like that, but she knew it was her Kraata's ability that had protected her. Something to thank Caedast for.

"It's not luck, it's the Kraata. I suppose Caedast took my answer to what I wished for a bit literally."

OOC: sweet golly gosh Viltia and Sorilax are way strong.

IC Mahrika - Aqua-Sphere

The Desecrated Ga-Matoran was picking herself up after Kas tackled her when everything accelerated. The Ignika attached to Sorilax’s face, Mi-Kiri began to fall, Vahki intruded with a strange Turaga. Reality seemed to twist and rewrite itself in an instant.

She stumbled as the island swung about, tumbling around. On a good day her large feet and short body were clumsy, with the Aqua Sphere falling, she was careening. As she was sent flying she banged and slammed into debris, knocking into Vahki.

Yet with each collision, she recovered. Her chassis popped out the dents, her organic Protodermis regrew. This quick healing, it was far greater than she had imagined. And thanks to freezing her mask to her face, it stayed on.

While Mahrika was tumbling around, Vokarda got to work. The Ga-Matoran’s beloved partner’s power radiated through her body, and her body began to shift. Plates extended in each hand, her fingers grew longer and flatter. Strange grooves emerged in each of her six fingers, and they gained a stronger grip. As she scrapped against the wall she caught hold.

Hanging off the side, she heard Sorilax’s shout, and before her eyes she saw several new people in the room, he … the power he commanded, the followers he had. He was strong.

Hearing his words Mahrika called out, “I will try, but hurry.” She planted her feet against the wall, letting them adapt to hold on. As she clung there she grabbed her disk of freezing and hurled it.

The Kanoka struck the floor, unleashing a tidal wave of creeping frost. The ice formed beneath the Vahki, hopefully to throw them off balance, like she had been only moments before.

IC Kanohi - Tobduk-Koro

The former vigilante finally shook himself of his daze and said, “thank you b-brother,” he squeaked that word out, before saying, “I will make your time here count.” And with that he leveled his Volo Lutu Launchers and fired a sphere of gravitational pull.

IC Kardaka - Tobduk-Koro

Kardaka could feel the ground shift. Not like it’s was crumbling, but like the drum beats of the Matoran, before they grew corrupt and cruel. Steady beats pounded through the earth, at first, she almost believed it was her doing it. But she was only a Turaga.

Her optics followed the tremors in her feet, and she turned to see a Toa, hand raised above the ground, the very rock yielding to his power. She … she had never had that kind of ability. Once she had possessed that power, near the end of her Toahood she had wielded that kind of control. But both, simultaneously?

So thats Toa Stannis,” Avka whispered.

IC Stannis | Tobduk-Koro | Music

The aged wizard sprung into action at the same time Kanohi jettisoned away, and with a powerful kick of his legs Stannis took off as well in the direction of the village proper. It had been a hot second since Caedast had assumed the role of hero of the people in an objective fashion but it came back with intuitive ease that both pleased and surprised the Aspect within the body—like muscle memory, it moved to help and the world became crystalline in clarity as he ranked the threats in priority.

The ruins crumbling above the village was the direst of threats. Boulders were falling from the bluff where the ruins were before, and with each roll of the massive rocks they gathered more velocity and an accompaniment of gravel and smaller rocks that descended in a veritable flood of boulders and scree that was poised to flow directly into Tobduk-Koro. What was once a protective promontory and lifeline to Kini-Koro had turned into a grave danger to the refugees in a matter of seconds and would engulf its little streets in a split moment unless abated. The toa's mind scanned the avalanche's descent with distain because of the sheer number of distinct formations that would prove incredibly difficult to stem all at once. He would not be able to bring them all to a halt immediately, but the wizard was more than capable of using the strength he did possess to impeccable use. Sometimes, the greatest effects were from the minimal effort.

He held up a hand at the falling rocks, picked the largest one at the base, and suddenly... it simply stopped moving, remaining in place like a statue. Other rocks pinged behind it and rolled to the sides, suddenly sapped of momentum and quickly brought frozen in place as well one after another. Stannis was not freezing them, however—at his whim, the cliff was reclaiming the rocks. Hungry for its runaway pieces, the cliffside seized each rock and fuzed together again, pulling the boulders back to the wall like greedy hands refusing to let a prized possession leave its grasp, but it did not get all of them, some had slipped through before and there was still more coming.

By then Stannis was in midst of the village and his footfalls resounded by a beating of the drums upon the earth. Left and right he saw the refugees of all kinds flee in a panic. Kanohi whizzed by as he did, grappling from one place to another and snatching his wards up. Whatever had destroyed the Builder's ruins above had destabilized the whole mountain in its strange explosion. Thorough the chaos he saw specks of void energy from where the Ruin previously stood that quickly vanished from sight as soon as he registered its presence, and an odd whisper of thinks that troubled the Aspect's spirit, but he could not consider its ramifications yet. Stones showered to the ground and pilfered the streets. Several houses haphazardly erected had been flattened, a task best left to Kanohi to fix. Meanwhile, the veritable roof of rock Stannis had manifested held, for the moment, but also threatened to buckle without a constant exertion of effort, and it could only come down

So, let's allow it, he determined.

Stannis planted his staff into the ground and felt the stone foundation's seams beneath, and then... he tore them apart, peeling them like the sectioned flesh of an orange with the sound of a thousand millstones grinding at grain. The earth trembled and groaned as the Toa of Stone funneled his power into the stone ground and pushed the whole of the cliff face away from Tobduk-Koro. The village and the cliff grew separated by a deep chasm that yawned with darkness and hunger. The cracks above continued to grow and spread in fractals just as the ravine was large enough to swallow the falling rocks. And then, with all the care of a skilled pilot, he severed the rocks frozen-in-place with a gesture and let them fall into the gaping hole in the ground. They descended silently like a whisper before they all crashed into the chasm with thunderous tumult. The rumble of churning stones being pummeled into gravel continued for some long moments while dust and sand whipped up in a great wall from the chasm before falling harmlessly away.

With another soothing prayer to the ground, Stannis eased the murmurings of the stone underfoot until they quieted to stillness, and then peace resumed again. He'd done hat he promised: He protected the village in ways beyond the scope of others. He was, for want of a better term, a hero, the kind Toa Stannis of yesteryear was.

"Korruhn?" Leklo said in shock. The last time he'd seen his best friend Korruhn had just been transformed by the tainted waters of the sea, but perhaps Parnassus was right that something more had been gnawing at him and turning the Cartographer into something else entirely. And yet... despite the frightening appearance and grotesque mutations, the voice was the same. It still had the same heart Leklo remembered.

Kor couldn't have changed too much, could he?

"Kor!" he said with elation when his thoughts were confirmed. "I'm here... to look for you." Not one of too many words and too focused on trying to see positivity, he left out mention of Stannis or Parnassus despite how important they had been in bringing him there. "But what do you mean, you wish we had time?" he asked.

A wave of relief washed the worry of out the expression on Knichou's kanohi. Had Nale's gamble already paid off?

"Thank you..." he told Caedast, looking past Nale's bright blue optics. He would have to think more about this. Later.

Now was the time for action. Well, after a little something to further relieve his tension. Hopefully not just his.

He gave his partner a wink.

"Well, flygirl... looks like my odds of being the best player in a game of Twister™ with you just got even lower."

"Now let's find this slimy piraka."

Knichou stood up, raising his rifle over the barricade and scanning this new room for threats and irregularities.

IC Kanohi - Tobduk-Koro

Kanohi hurled through the air, scooping up Matoran and pushing the other breeds of Protoderms out of the way of the shaking earth. His Kiril Staff struck the ground each time he tumbled on a landing, mending the landscape in patches.

And then Kanohi heard the creak of stone and earth, and a roar of the land. He turned in time to witness the cliff where the ruins once stood now shoving away from Tobduk-Koro. The Fe-Matoran stared in awe, as Stannis cleaved the land in twine.

The Councilor drummed his staff, but not of stress and fear. He stimmed with joy, as the land stopped trembling. Toa Stannis, the power he wielded, it was frightening. But he had only used that power to save the village.

Kanohi stood on the shoulders of giants. Knichou built him his Volo Lutu Launchers. That mysterious Toa of Stone built Po-Koro. Vakama built him his Kiril Staff. Sucordak taught him how to make disks. Komisti and the Vahki saved Po-Koro’s people in the flood. Komisti told him of the ruins they built Tobduk-Koro under, and then they and Sucordak taught Kanohi how to forge Kanoka Blades.

And Kanohi had played his part. Too. Maybe not as grand or heroic a part as others, but he had saved lives, helped out. It was clearer everyday that while Duty was a virtue, Unity was what decided the fate of civilization.

The former vigilante grappled over to Stannis. “Thank you, brother,” he said, tilting his head in a bow, “you not only stabilized the ground but the ravine, ore might be  uncovered, it will give us a barrier from attack. Thank you.” Then he paused and added, “we can rebuild from here. You may go fulfill your destiny. And hopefully, we will know each other again.

IC Kardaka - Tobduk-Koro

Kardaka stared at the Toa strangely as the hand was cleaved in two. That power, yes it was feasible for a Toa, she could have done that maybe once, but the strain of focusing that power should have broken him. Ruptured his tubing, cracked pistons, he should have clenched his optics tight enough to shatter their lens.

She could be wrong. But to keep going, that required a different power. Invulnerability, quick healing; to hold ones body together like that, you needed the power of a strong Aspect.

The Turaga of Stone stared after him, then began to approach him. If he knew an Aspect she could serve under her penance, she might have enough strength to help these people.

She hobbled over to him as he spoke to a Matoran. “Stranger,” she spoke up, “Thank you for saving these people, not many remain on this land. If I may ask, who you serve?

"Yeah, he and half the island it seems. All I've encountered in the past few months are more Aspects."

Koruhn contemplated the question. He hadn't exactly been the friendliest of souls on the planet, surely. But wanting him dead specifically? What had he done to draw such ire? This world was a cut-throat place, and Korruhn did what he needed to do in order to end this, and surely some of those things had crossed some people.

"I suppose I have been productive. The Warskaks certainly aren't my biggest fans; nor is the Aspect Uhuraz, but he and his followers are all dead now anyway," Korruhn continued. "Could be Nuju. Remember that weird encounter in the Hideaway? I got back to Metru Nui after the fight with Axonn--forgot about that guy too--his office was filled with taboos and dark lore. He's not what he's been presenting himself to be.

IC Stannis | Tobduk-Koro

The former vigilante grappled over to Stannis. “Thank you, brother,” he said, tilting his head in a bow, “you not only stabilized the ground but the ravine, ore might be  uncovered, it will give us a barrier from attack. Thank you.” Then he paused and added, “we can rebuild from here. You may go fulfill your destiny. And hopefully, we will know each other again.

"I already long for the day that we meet again, Kanohi," Stannis said soberly. It may be too much to share if he said his very existence was defined by people like Kanohi, the ones who peer into the mysteries of existence and ask what lies ahead, the ones who look back at their past and reflect on what they learned, and who want—more than anything else int he world—the power to help others help themselves.

[Kardaka] hobbled over to him as he spoke to a Matoran. “Stranger,” she spoke up, “Thank you for saving these people, not many remain on this land. If I may ask, who you serve?

But fate worked in mysterious ways, and sometimes opportunities were placed there for a reason. "I am the Aspect of Makuta Caedast, All-seeker, True-guesser," he said, formally then, abandoning any pretenses. "I am bonded with the Builder Stannis the Wanderer, a Toa Hagah and Maru, and he believed that all people deserved to be saved and that greatness is measured in lifting others over himself. I have continued using his name and body to honor his deeds and continue his philosophies.

"Many would assume that as an Aspect I am bound to act selfishly and insidiously in service of myself, but that is not exactly true. My kind'd existence is in direct answer to the deepest and most basal desires of People, and I live to provide answers and salvation to everyone who wishes for it. So if you ask me 'who I serve,' Turaga... Akiri... I serve you. But for now, I must go."

And then the hero vanished in a shadow.

"I don't really know. Are there any more Makoki Stones out there? They seem to be our best shot at stopping... well, whatever all this is."

"Well, Stannis seemed to believe more were to be found that way," one of the insect's clawed forearms gestured in the direction that Korruhn had gone off in. "And I'm reluctant to leave the Islets as of yet. I still have business with my kin here. Do you wish to accompany me?"

*  *  *

A few minutes later, the gathered group were treated to the sound of buzzing wingbeats, and the sight of a colossal cobalt Nui-Kopen carrying a darkened Toa in its grasp. The insect flew past overhead, circled once, then descended, allowing the Toa to land before landing itself.

The floating form of Whisper emerged from within the creature and drifted towards the group, tethers and tendrils reaching out to return her kraata and equipment to her grasp.

Shapes moved in the fumes that were rising from the bowels of the volcano, shapes that were, perhaps, familiar to them? But there was no one there. No one, save for the yawning black chasm of the Pits.

He gave up his element next, starting to grow concerned as it still consumed. There was a moment where it felt like it would keep going, that it would take everything from him. He paused, almost breaking off contact. But the thought of an even greater reward filled his mind and he gave all he had, confident the door wouldn’t go so far as to kill him.

And that decision was his undoing, as now he couldn't stop.

The door consumed.

IC: Reliable Narrator | Kini-Nui Bunker

The door took everything. Its terrible hunger consumed Cravious's element first, then moved on to his physical and mental strength. The newly-borne NUVA felt himself slipping into a sort of daze, but his loss of focus did not cause the outflow of energy to abate. On the contrary —the outpouring grew only fiercer as he lost the willpower to hold anything back. His very life force poured itself into the bottomless hunger. His limbs trembled, and he sank to his knees, hands still raised to the door, but he felt it less than he observed it, like it was happening to someone else. Everything felt distant, and yet far too close. Fear coursed through him. No reward could be worth this. Even if the door stopped now, there would be hardly anything left of him. But it didn't stop. It took everything.

Cravious NUVA died for the second time. The husk of his body finally empty of all strength, it swayed for a moment before falling to its side before the vast, implacable door. Its heartlight faded. Then everything was still.

The sound of gas being vented broke the silence. Invisible seals broke and valves released, and with a high-pitched hum the door began to open like the maw of some titanic beast. It split horizontally; the top half of the door ascended into the ceiling while the bottom half descended into the ground. Curls of white mist drifted out between the two doors as they slowly pulled apart, but this was not the only thing released as the door opened. The lower half of the door continued to sink into the earth until it was low enough for the energized protodermis within to spill over. The golden liquid cascaded over the descending door in a rush of splashing, sparkling light. It turned dirt into grass and and grass into flowers, and it washed over Cravious's motionless corpse in a golden flood, leaving the NUVA's body shimmering and wet. Continuing it course down the hill, the rest of the purified liquid eventually sank into the ground, leaving an abundance of health and life in its wake.

Cravious's heartlight began to glow. With a shocked gasp, his eyes snapped open and his lungs started breathing again. His heartbeat thundered in his ears. Dying had not been a pleasant experience, and he didn't feel much better now. He felt weak and shaky all over, like he'd just run a marathon. His muscles quivered and his optics struggled to focus; he was alive, but barely. It was all he could do to roll over and gradually work his way up to a kneeling position. Even this effort caused his head to spin and his stomach to twist. But from this slightly higher vantage point, he was in a better position to behold the door.

Both doors had by now fully receded into the ceiling and the floor. The doorway yawned fully open before him, cavernous and dim. He sensed something inside that was meant for him—surely the treasure he had long sought. But he could not yet see it. The tunnel was full of a soft white mist that obscured almost everything. Only by straining his eyes could Cravious barely make out the vague impression of a silhouette within. Whatever was inside, it stood almost as high as the ceiling of the tunnel, and it did not move. Occasionally, the venting of gas could be heard again, echoing out of the vast bunker like the sound of the sea.

IC Kanohi - Tobduk-Koro

Kanohi stared after Stannis as he vanished into the shadows. So Caedast, that was the true name of the Stannis he knew. An Aspect who had been inspired by the old Toa Stannis, who had bonded with the Toa, and eventually merged with him. He knew an Aspect needed permission to possess someone, had Caedast and Stannis stayed together so long they eventually fused? Both Toa and Aspect, Caedast and Stannis?

How much of the legends Knichou and Nale had known were about the original Stannis, and how much were Caedast? How much of the ancient hero’s actions had been born of one and the other. Were the two sides opposed to each other in somethings? Or were they just the same being, merged like a the Kaita Klawne had told him about sometime ago.

The Kanohi heard a shout, and turned to see a Matoran trying to free a Vortixx pinned under rubble. Without a word he grabbed over, and stabbed his staff under the debris. With help the two Matoran used the staff to pry. The rubble off her, letting it fall to the side.

He grappled away, he would have to do a lot to mend the damage. And truthfully it mattered little what the nature of Stannis was, what mattered right now was what he had done for Tobduk-Koro. The village had lost no one from what he could tell, and that meant rebuilding would be easier.

Just this once, everybody lived.

Kardaka watched the strange Toa/Aspect go, before turning away. This Stannis and Caedast was busy, and was lost to her now. And if they were truly a fusion of Toa and Aspect, could she trust them? Her people were not trustworthy, Tobduk-Koro was better than the villages and cities she remembered, but even still she was wary.

She returned to the Av-Matoran, and asked, “Your mask, you are connected to Whisper, correct? Would she heard you if you reached out?

I … don’t know. Maybe?

Would you mind reaching out to yet on my sake? I … I need power, I am too weak to save this island, and iy must be saved, but I cannot be trusted with power that is unchecked. I must serve someone wiser, someone not tied to the Matoran. I would like to speak to her, to learn if I could trust her goals so I may serve her.

Avka stared at the strange Turaga, but nodded. If … if the island was I deed vanishing, and with the Admin gone, they could all use a bit more power. “Whisper, I … I am one of the many Matoran you blessed with an Infected Mask. IC: Parnassus | The Caldera

When this newcomer arrived, Parnassus' first instinct was to reach to their weapon -- another unknown Builder showing up in their homeland, good grief. But as the figure righted themself, they seemed to release some sort of ... essence. It drifted out across the basalt plains with tendrils of gas, its movement making little more noise than a--

"Whisper?" Parnassus said, cocking their head to one side. "Is that you?"

IC: Irna | The Caldera

With her free hand -- the one not holding onto Waveahk's limp body -- Irna readied her glaive at the arrival of this new figure. Parnassus seemed to know them, but that had long ago proved to be of no real proof of friendliness. If she was being wholly honest with herself, she no longer wished to stick around this forsaken place much longer, and since it seemed that this Parnassus might be the key to Keitara's troubles....

"Yes," she said, backing her way onto the Ambling Alp's gangplank, "we're coming. And Parnassus will, too."

"What?" the Aspect said, whipping back around to face Irna. "Oh, I am?"

"Don't you want to be loved?" she replied, smirking. "If what this Korruhn says is true, going with us could lead you to being hailed a saviour."

For a moment, the Aspect was silent -- and although Irna was not sure, she could swear that she suddenly felt something probing in her mind. Something shadowy.

And then Parnassus laughed.

"You see what I have to deal with here?" they announced, haplessly looking at this Whisper.

Location - Kini-Nui, Opened Bunker

Cravious growled as he came to, though it sounded more like a groan of pain. He haltingly got to his feet, head foggy. It smelled like dank and uncirculated air. When he peered through the mist and saw but a glimpse of his reward ahead, he immediately moved his shaky body. He forced his limbs to work despite their sapped state.

Why in the world did he ever think feeding the hungry door was a good idea?

As a towering mech came into view, kneeling and shackled, he knew. The reward was well worth the risk.

Cravious gathered himself, trying to build up some form of energy, then started to climb. With a heavy thud he landed in a heap on the floor of the large bunker. He laid there for a moment, taking in the pain, not having the energy to move.

Well that didn’t work.

Cravious grit his teeth. He would not be denied his reward just because his body wasn’t up to it. He, carefully this time, got to his feet and started to climb towards what looked to be a cockpit.

IC [Zataka - Kini-Nui]

The titan shrugged slightly at Atamai’s question. :“One went offline apparently - maybe they all did. So we’re gonna go to fix hers. Somehow. It’s part of the plan.”: she said, tilting her head towards Viltia briefly. Apparently the Toa of the Green had not been following behind her as closely as she thought, she’d suddenly teleported into the airship just before Atamai had arrived.

What had that all been about? Must’ve been Kualsi based jumps then. Would explain why she can’t take us both straight there but the giant Kaita wasn’t a problem. Figures.

But, the Toa had heard her request and just as quickly had teleported out again. A few moments later, something could be heard scraping against the hull, followed by a rush of liquid. Zataka watched as the gauge on the display in front of her steadily began to fill. They were refueling. That was good. It wouldn’t be long now before they could get going.

She glanced out to the window, to see Viltia in the distance, at the edge of the lake, next to her...cactus hose? Neat. Beyond that, something else caught her eye though: There seemed to be more mountains in the distance again. Hopefully someone had actually figured out a way to bring those back, instead of this just being another strange unexplained phenomenon. She’d had enough of those.

The cactus line did good work, it only took a few more minutes until the gauge was green. Zataka let Viltia know their tanks were full via brief telepathic message and to get back aboard soon, before turning to focus on the control panel once again. This time Atamai and Exuze could hear the titan quietly run through the checklist, which she seemed to know by heart.

:“Auxiliary power on, generator on, thrust idle, mode select: ignition...”:

The ship rumbled to life with a notable humming sound that grew steadily louder and external lights flickering on. Zataka watched the displays closely, checking pressure and fuel flow indicators. A moment later, satisfied that everything was working as intended, she reached to the overhead panel and flicked a pair of switches that were marked by a red outline and had additional protective covers to prevent accidental use. A second layer of noise was added to the hum, shortly after followed by a third as both the levitation engine and thrusters began to spool up, until all the different sounds merged into one steady background thrumming.

The titan looked back at Atamai and Exuze again, while waiting for Viltia to jump back aboard.

This is pretty much a dream come true!” the Le-Matoran said, moving on from the flight computer to the engine controls, looking at the various settings available that the Taku could use for it’s vertical and horizontal movement. “Did this captain fellow of yours customize the ship much? That’s a lot of power for a hauler!”

Akamu scoffed, looking at Navu. “Reason Vican here gets to be all hyped to see an actual airship is because most of us were stuck maintaining the city in one form or another. Lots of unseen and unappreciated work to keep that city shiny and nothing to show for it now…thanks, Mata Nui.”

IC: Great Spirit Head

Korio landed upon the side of the massive skull. Mighty a dragon though he was, compared to the cranium of the Matoran’s great spirit, he felt like a tiny lizard on a hot rock.

His claws left deep gashes in the metal, but even then it took a veritable onslaught before the incredibly thick plating began to yield to his strength. By the time he found purchase and could begin tearing away at the skull properly, he was enveloped by the fog rising from below, to the point where Yumiwak could no longer make out her pet dragon behind the mist.

And still the skull stared out with dead eyes. And it began to laugh. A hoarse, deranged cackle that could have just as easily have sprung from the depths of the worst Irrnak’s nightmares had to offer.

"Yep," Aurax said. "I can hear you. Let's get going. Is there anything here that you think we might need to take with us before we take off?"

IC Hiripaki | Her vault

"Yes," the AI in the machine said. She stood to walk but was wholly unaccustomed to the motion and stumbled a moment, almost clumsily falling to the floor in an embarrassing fashion before catching herself on a table, and shakily moved towards the hidden door in the back of the lair, and activated its hinge. It hissed open and revealed a dark, cold recess.

Hiripaki stepped through and utterly vanished from view.

A moment later, she returned with a Mason jar and a book in a hopsack bag that smelled of ancient hemp. "Okay, let's go take butt and kick names for my master. And thank you, Ghost Builder, some problems are beyond my abilities to solve."

IC: Irna | The Caldera

Irna looked back at her dear compatriots: Tekmo; Kei and Skorm; karz help her, even Ostrox. Leklo was right -- the last time that she had tried to save the world, it had just landed them all here. Was she leading her friends to slaughter yet again?

But, of course, there was no more time to consider it. There never seemed to be.

Waveahk still slung over her shoulder, she made her way up the gangplank.

IC, Atamai: Airship

"Hmmm, if the Suvas are offline, that could be a big problem," Atamai said. "I think I'll investigate." He stood up to leave. "Before I go, Zataka, I need to know. The Nui Stone you took from Dume's corpse. Do you still have it?"

IC, Aurax: Vault of Stories

"No worries," Aurax said. "Let's get out of here." The pair passed through the first set of doors, which closed behind them. As soon as the doors closed, the other set of doors opened. A flood of water came rushing in. "OTIS, lead the way out of here," he said. The Marauder's HUD changed with a simple map of the way Aurax had ventured.

The king led the Vahki containing Hiripaki down the flooded tunnels to the elevator shaft. Aurax shifted around, replacing the Matatu he was wearing with Saybo's Miru. He grabbed ahold of Hiripaki and activated the mask as well as his ACR's thrusters. The mech moved up the elevator shaft, arriving at ground level. Aurax and Hiripaki moved out of the flooded building and surfaced. They were greeted with a grim sight. The remains of the city were burning, and the kaiju Kanohi Dragons were still flying around.

Aurax glanced at Hiripaki. "Can your Vahki body still fly, or do you need me to carry you?"
