Who Made the Emoticons/Smileys?

Recommended Posts

Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this/a redundant topic, this is just an unimportant wonder I’ve had for a long time.

Who designed the smileys?

Were they gradually added over the years?

Have any ever been retired? I remember a “:hide:” one of a blue smiley under a brown wooden chair, but it seems to have vanished?

Were they all BZPower custom, or were some preexisting for the Board site?

Will we ever learn the legend of “Matt”? :matt-sign:

Will there ever be/has there ever been one of a minifigure or minifig head?

Sorry for the inconvenience, thanks if anyone knows!

That mystery may be lost to time, but it would either have been Dimensioneer or Binkmeister or some talented artist they picked out from the early days of the community.

There were definitely a few batches in the first few years, but I don't think we've added any in quite a while.

Not intentionally, but some may have been lost during server moves and upgrades.

There were definitely a bunch that came with the forum software and others appear to have been made to match that style.

Matt is Ninjo, a former Administrator and one of the best people to ever be on the staff.

I can't think of there ever being one, and I haven't given any thought to adding more, but never say never I guess?
