Friend of Fire
EncouragementBy: Friend of Fire Tuyet fell away from Lhikan. After the many days of chasing the Visorak Horde, her energy was starting to get low. Lhikan kept going, limping on. He didn’t have any clue as to how to stop the horde from devastating the Universe, but he knew he had to do so. “Lhikan,” Tuyet cried. Lhikan turned to look at his companion. “I can’t do this, Lhikan,” Tuyet said. “I know,” Lhikan replied. “It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the legends, Tuyet. The ones the really matter. Full of darkness and danger, they were.” Lhikan limped back to help Tuyet to her feet. “And sometimes you didn’t want to hear the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the Universe go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened?” With Tuyet’s arm over his shoulder they began their trek anew. “But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out all the clearer. Those were the legends that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too inexperienced to understand why. But I think, Water Sister, I do understand. I know now. Toa in those legends had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.” “What are we holding onto, Lhikan?” Tuyet asked. “That there’s some good in this Universe, Tuyet…and it’s worth fighting for.” With that, the two Toa crossed the plains. Ahead of them, they could see that small group of Visorak they had been tailing. Now was the time to end their miserable curse. From a distance, they devised a plan. As Toa didn’t kill, they sought to simply scatter the horde and take the Colony Drones they used for food. The plan would involve Tuyet creating a rain storm to give them some cover the next day. However, the next, it didn’t just rain. A tremendous thunder storm covered the plains. Lhikan did his best to keep from being swept away with the tide. He had no idea where Tuyet was. Later, Lhikan would recall this event while staying in Metru Nui. It was then that he wondered if Tuyet had the Nui Stone with her at that time or not, and had cause the divesting rain. He would never know since Tuyet disappeared. But he couldn’t help but wondered if she tried to kill him then or not.Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (movie), Scene: 50 Quote FoF Credit to ~the Big X~ for avatar
Click
Seemed like it copied the book a little closely, you might want to be careful about plagerism. It's also a bit short. When I think short story, I usually think 1,500 words+, so it would have been great if you described the journey and the battle a bit more, just to add details and action to captivate the audience. Just think about that for the next contest. Other than that, it sounded pretty good. I wish the mystery at the end was expanded a bit, but the plot could have had some great possibilities.
