One Second Of Destiny

The BIONICLE hinges on very critical events. One second can make a huge difference. So what if things were a little bit different? What if Mata Nui timed Teridax's death incorrectly? It was the critical moment. It was now or never. Mata Nui reached out and shoved destiny back onto its rightful course. But he reacted a moment too soon, he timed it wrong. And then...Teridax, in a mighty body, a universe within him, fell on his back. Mata Nui’s momentum carried the former Great Spirit forwards, and then... it struck.Mata Nui received the fate that had been intended for his opponent. Now, the Makutaverse lived, and the original Great Spirit was no more. With a mighty crash, the fragment, the moon that was to shape destiny shattered the Great Beings’ grand design into a million pieces.Teridax got to his feet. Now, he stood over the motionless Mata Nui. With one blast, through the heart of his former brother, he penetrated the crust of the planet, destroying the core. In one enormous explosion, he finally rid himself of his destiny. He swore that he would conquer the cosmos and rule reality. But, like his brother, he was forgetting something... ...Takanuva tried not to panic. He, Jaller, and Turaga Onewa were hiding in a Po-Metru sculpture that Hewkii had carved a secret compartment in. Outside, hordes of Rahkshi were patrolling the area. If caught, the party would be charged with avoidance of labor, treason, and obstruction of justice. Even if they fought back, they would be killed on the spot for attacking a Brotherhood servant. A Kraata of Shattering wormed into the sculpture, bursting through explosively. The last thing the Toa of Light heard was a scream. It had come from his own mouth....Lewa worked. How long he had worked, he could not remember. He mindlessly performed a simple assembly-line task over and over. Over time, he began to grow tired. But he perservered, fearing the worst. But as he lifted his handiwork and inspected it, his fingers slipped. Lewa wanted to scream as he felt a staff against his back, but he died before the sound left his lips....Turaga Vakama’s eyes darted back and forth. He spotted a critical opening. He spotted no Rahkshi in the area. He immediately dropped his tools and made a run for it. But he couldn’t leave before ten Rahkshi with the Chameleon power appeared and closed in on him. He tried to escape, but not before he ran into a Rahkshi of Shattering. Vakama finally realized the truth: Your life does not flash before your eyes when you die....Tahu and Kopaka had never been the best of friends. The Toa of Fire viewed Kopaka as cold and a know-it-all, and the Toa of Ice viewed Tahu as hot-tempered and reckless. But they needed to cooperate in order to survive. After a failed sabotage attempt, they were back-to-back and surrounded by Rahkshi. Tahu tried to engulf the Rahkshi in a monstrous conflagration, while Kopaka attempted freezing them all. Their powers collided, forming nothing but steam. Laughing, or as close as a Rahkshi could get to it, the sons of Makuta closed in on them, and......Velika had no choice. Like all Matoran, he had been enslaved. He was now being forced to work endlessly. But, as he manufactured a part, he slipped up. He incorrectly placed a gear, a miniscule difference, but the part would last about an hour less. And now, a very special Matoran, one who would have held the fate of a world in his hands, was not even given the honor of death by one of Makuta’s sons. No, Toa Nuparu, one of his inventor friends, had been forced to do it. Nuparu slayed the Matoran with a single shot from his Cordak blaster. Then, the Toa raised his blaster once more, sadly pointed it at himself, and pulled the trigger....Teridax was enjoying himself. His Rahkshi had broken the spirits of the Matoran, making them work for him out of fear. He had even modified the Matoran-making machines to churn out mindless laborers rather than healthy citizens. But he had more important things to worry about. He had conquered a large portion of the Galactic Universe. He released his Rahkshi to ravage countless planets. He had destroyed the Great Beings and was now seeking the higher power among them, those who created the Great Beings, those who formed Energized Protodermis, the ones who shaped planets. But he would fail. Nothing he did would lead him to anything but justice. You can conquer the landThe power is in your handBut what purpose do you serve? You’ll get what you deserve
