Dino Attack: At War's End

OOC: Alright, I got a lot on my mind right now and I'm mostly writing these as a side with other writing projects, so my last posts are probably not going to be as good as some of the others here, but I think this should do an okay job finishing one of my stories.

IC: Flatfoot Thomson smashed through a glass window as he and his partners made a dash from the El Paso Bank. The plan seemed so simple, make a break for the desert, find a place to lay low for a little while, and make a run to the ruins of Gold City.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t quite prepared when someone shot at Thomson’s horse. It fell down hard, leaving Thomson lying on the ground as the horse got back up and ran while his cronies galloped away. Quickly, he went for his gun, when suddenly he heard the familiar clicking of a revolver. A boot stepped firmly on the gun.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” said a familiar gruff voice. Thomson looked up nervously to see that familiar bearded face, puffing that big cigar as always.

“You!” Thomson shouted.

“That’s right,” replied Clint Wayne. He reached into his vest and pulled out a roll of paper, showing a picture of Thomson’s face on it. “Seems there’s a mighty big reward for you and your gang.”

“You ain’t gonna catch ma’ gang,” Thomson said.

Clint Wayne took a firm breath of his cigar. “We can do this the easy way or the hard way.” He cocked his gun to show he meant businsess. Thomson didn’t want to admit it but he was clearly pissing his pants with fear. Clint smiled. He smacked Thomson over the head with the but end of his gun, and then slung him over his horse, tying his hands behind his back carefully.

As he rode back to town, Clint was rather pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face, a rough and tough gunslinger clad in black. With him were Black Bart and Dewey Cheetum, tied to his horse so that they were forced to follow.

“What was that you were saying about your gang, Thomson?”

Thomson growled in anger as Clint and Angel Eyes rode back toward El Paso. When they reached the Sheriff’s office, Clint dismounted and stepped onto the porch. Wyatt West was sitting in his rocking chair, as usual, fast asleep, and snoring loudly. Clint drew his revolver, aimed toward the sky, and fired, startling him awake.

“What’s going on?” Sheriff West asked as he looked at Clint. He signaled for Angel Eyes to pull Thomson off of Clint’s horse, and threw him onto the balcony. It didn’t take long then for the Sheriff to notice the other two men tied behind Angel Eyes’ horse.

“Ah, Flatfoot Thomson,” Sheriff West said. “This is a pleasant surprise. I won’t see you escape so easily this time.”

He called for a deputy, who stepped out of the office and escorted the criminals toward the jail. The Sheriff then reached into his pocket and pulled out a large pile of dollar bills which he placed in Clint’s hand.

As Clint and Angel Eyes stepped away from the office, they took a moment to divide their newfound cash, and then they mounted their horses, and rode off.

OOC:And introducing my final IC, the culmination of my part in this RPG, which is exactly 3,504 words long. It's my longest post, and I think it's possibly the second longest post, at least that I know of. Enough talk, I'll finish at the bottom. See you there!

IC:April 30, 2011Dr. Cyborg wandered the corridors of XERRD's new ship. It was empty, except for the robotic servants who made the food, kept it repaired, and did everything to keep the ship running but pilot it. It was to be piloted by Sub-Commander Dylan Bingham, and a recently-promoted Commander Kara Wise. After her excellent work in the Dino Attack, it was only fitting that she be promoted.----------------------------Two Weeks AgoKara stood in front of the door to Dr. Cyborg's office, straightening her uniform and her cap. She may be his friend, but as her boss, he was still intimidating, plus she had no idea why he called her into his office. She took a deep breath, then punched the "open" key on the door control console. The door slid open, and she walked in."Ah, Kara," Dr. Cyborg said as she walked in the door and stood in front of his desk. "I'm sure you're wondering why I called you in here?""Yes sir, I am," Kara answered.Dr. Cyborg picked up a folder off his desk. It wasn't full, but it didn't have only one or two sheets of paper in it, either."This folder has reports from former Dino Attack Agents you worked with in it. Specs took these up on everybody, and we Elite Agents reviewed them to see how people behaved. I requested copies of reports dealing with you, and received them. Would you like to read me some to you?"Kara swallowed. Dr. Cyborg, as much as she could tell, only being able to tell from his voice and half a face, was being very cold, concealing some other emotion. She tried hard in the Dino Attack, but people might not have liked how she didn't really follow the chain of command, just sorta helped who she thought needed it."Yes sir," she answered."For reasons of time, I am only going to read one to you." He opened the folder and looked down at the top sheet of paper."'I worked with Kara Wise the most of probably anybody except Dr. Cyborg during the Dino Attack. She seemed like she was used to working as she thought best, and therefore I did not give her specific orders, merely general directives. She did as she was told and did it well. She is quick, smart, and talented at flying. All three are skills a good pilot needs. I was proud to work with her during the short time she was with the Dino Attack team.' There are more, saying the same general thing." Dr. Cyborg suddenly smiled, dropping the emotional wall."I am proud of the way you worked in the Dino Attack. Many people thought highly of you. Therefore, I see fit to promote you to the rank of Commander Pilot. Congratulations." Dr. Cyborg stood up and shook hands with her."I also have a request. This is optional, so feel free to turn it down. I'm sure you know that UlTech has been working with XERRD scientists on building a capital ship.""Yes sir, I've been wondering what it's for," Kara replied."Well, we are going to use that ship to get back to Crux Prime and Nexus Force. It will also be our mobile headquarters. We need two efficient pilots, and I've already chosen one - your former superior, Dylan Bingham, for the copilot. I want to ask you if you would like to be the main pilot, or if you would rather stay on Earth," Dr. Cyborg said."I will consider it, sir, and get back to you," Kara answered.---------------------------Current TimeAfter a few days, Kara had come back with an answer. She had decided to take the offer, and be the pilot for XERRD's new ship. Dr. Cyborg was glad she had accepted. She was his friend, and also the best pilot he knew. There was nobody else who he would rather have.As he walked down the corridors in the cabins area, he thought back to the party and time after it on Lego Island - specifically, when he said goodbye to Catless.---------------------------January 2, 2011"Well, my old friend, we made it through alive," Catless said to Dr. Cyborg. They were sitting on the steps of her house. The party had finally died out. Very few had slept during the party, and after 72 hours of fun, nobody but robots and cyborgs could not be tired. Catless had invited some agents over to her house, and many had accepted. It was about 6:30, but most people were asleep, so the island was peaceful for once."We did, indeed. So, Catless, what do you plan on doing now?" Dr. Cyborg asked her."For right now, stay at home and help in the reconstruction of Lego Island. After that, I don't know. There will probably be another crisis soon, and I'll probably join in and help defend against it. You?" she replied."I need to lead XERRD. We were responsible for this war, and I need to help XERRD become what has the potential to be - an organization for beneficial science, not making mutant monsters. The best course of action is currently to leave Earth and assist Nexus Force. I'll need to go with them, which means that someone will need to run UlTech's day-to-day business. I'm not sure who, though I've got some ideas.""We'll both be busy for the next few months," Catless said. "Will we see each other before again before you leave?""No, I'm afraid we won't. So this will be a long-lasting goodbye when we leave. I'll miss you, Catless," Dr. Cyborg said."I'll miss you too, my friend."----------------------------Later that day it was time for them to part. Dr. Cyborg had to leave with most of the Dino Attack Agents back to the mainland."Well, this is it," Catless said as they walked back towards the transit station. She had been carrying a box wrapped in wrapping paper with a snowflake design since they left."You're right. We can email, and maybe video chat, but we won't see each other face-to-face for a long while," Dr. Cyborg said."Before you leave, here is a late Christmas/birthday present, to make up for all the ones I missed," Catless said, handing him the box.It was heavier than Dr. Cyborg expected, and dipped towards the ground before he compensated. He used his free hand to pull the wrapping paper off, revealing a brown cardboard box. Opening it, he saw a slim silver Asus ultrabook."Catless, you shouldn't have," he said, pulling it out and looking at it."Well, I felt guilty about not giving you presents these past few years just because we fell out of contact. It wasn't that expensive anyways. I was wearing my Dino Attack uniform for some reason when I went to buy it, and when I walked up to the checkout, they took a huge chunk out of the price because I was a Dino Attack veteran. It's not enough to make up for the past few years, but I hope you like it," Catless said."I do like it, and I appreciate it. Thank you, Catless," Dr. Cyborg said. He turned to leave, but stopped and said, "Goodbye, Johanna. I'll miss you.""Goodbye, Matthew. I'll miss you too." She turned to leave, but turned back around and hugged Dr. Cyborg for a few seconds before releasing him and walking away.----------------------------Current TimeHe had now reached the engine section of the ship. Robotic drones were scurrying around him back here, keeping everything working. He entered the large reactor compartment that took up most of the stern of the ship. He looked at the gigantic plasma reactor in the middle of the room, looking like a mutant spider with all of the pipes and wires running from it into the walls. He walked over to a console near it, checking its status. He thought back to merely two months ago, reflecting on how different his situation was now from then.----------------------------February 25, 2011"Gah!" Dr. Cyborg cried. The new model of plasma reactor he and some XERRD and UlTech technicians were working on was throwing up problems left and right. He was half-convinced it had developed sentience and was literally refusing to be fixed."Check the polarity reverser coupling!" He ordered a XERRD tech named Anthony. Dr. Cyborg moved back against the wall of the reactor chamber, 100 feet underground. He opened his ultrabook and booted it up. He pulled up his calculations and hooked himself up to the laptop. He ran some more simulations, matching up every variable he knew of, but still the actual reactor behaved differently."Polarity Reverser Coupling's fine, sir!" Anthony cried out. "However, Dorsal Gaseous Capacitor 7 was being short-circuited. It blew out, and we'll need it replaced. I think there are some replacements in the workshop where they were fabricated. Would you like me to go get them?""No thank you, I'll get them. In the meantime everyone, keep troubleshooting." Dr. Cyborg left and went to the elevator that took the workers back to the surface. UlTech had constructed this underground chamber years ago for dangerous research, but so far nothing had gone wrong. He reached the surface and left the elevator. He remembered that the gaseous capacitors, among other reactor parts, were made in workshop 3. He went to the east wing of the lab building he was in, and found the capacitors. At this point, he was wondering if they were ever going to build this reactor and get it working. It seemed that, since it's formation, XERRD and anything it touched was under a curse, this reactor included. It simply denied Dr. Cyborg the pleasure of getting it to work.He grabbed two or three of the capacitors and returned to the chamber. On the elevator ride down, he realized that nothing was working right. XERRD was definitely not popular among the people, even after the work they had already done to prove they were reforming, and it didn't seem like they would ever be. The reactor wasn't working, and didn't seem like it would in the near future. Finally, every day, more members of XERRD revealed themselves to be as power-hungry as the members Dr. Cyborg had already kicked out.He reached the chamber and replaced Dorsal Gaseous Capacitor 7, along with one that was blackened on the inside. He saw two pieces of metal framework that were too close to each other, and were discolored from electric discharge and magnetic aura interaction. "Tony, give me a hammer," Dr. Cyborg said. He took the hammer that Tony held out to him and hit one piece of metal, pushing it away from the other. He crawled out from under the reactor, and moved to behind the blast shield, along with the other techies. He took a deep breath, expecting this to be failure #187, and pressed the button. Nothing happened, and then - then something happened! Blue light from the plasma filled the chamber as the reactor initialized, pumping plasma into itself and metabolizing it into incredulous amounts of electricity, using just ounces of plasma to create hundreds of kilowatts. Dr. Cyborg smiled. For once, the future of XERRD wasn't so bleak, after all.----------------------------He put the console into sleep mode and left the engine section. As he went back towards the bow of the ship, he passed by the cabins on the command deck. He, Solomon, Dylan, Kara, and some other ranking members of XERRD had cabins here. As he passed by them, he remembered a meeting he had, when they were being the victim of countless court cases. He closed his eyes as he called more memories to the fore of his mind.----------------------------January 23, 2011"Dr. Cyborg, we've been called into court again," Solomon said."What is it this time, Solomon?" Dr. Cyborg asked."It's another property damage claim. This time, it's some family out in the Midwest, claiming their storm cellar was caved in by the Mutant Dinos out there. I don't think there is any way to tell if that is true or not.""There actually is. If one were to dig around there, one could see how fresh the cave-in is. If it's older than nine months, or newer than a month, then it is not the result of Mutant Dinos, it was natural or they did it themselves.""Great. I'll call our lawyers and have them and a couple operatives out there as soon as possible. Thanks for your insight." Solomon walked out of the office, and Dr. Cyborg leaned back in his chair. In the month since the Dino Attack ended, anyone wanting some money had crawled out of the woodwork, suing XERRD for all they could get their sticky little mitts onto. Dr. Cyborg had set up a division of XERRD made up of lawyers and laymen simply to disprove as many claims as possible. He had narrowly avoided having the entire organization brought up on charges of war crimes. It was only thanks to some quick thinking, four lawyers, three laptops, two slide shows, and a roll of toilet paper that they weren't. (Don't ask Dr. Cyborg about it, he won't tell you.)Normally, he'd just pay the claims, because they most likely had merit, but XERRD was a little strapped for cash at the moment, plus most of the claims were just baloney. There were some sensible ones that had a basis in fact, (Brik-mart suing them for destroyed warehouses, stores, and merchandise) and some that did not."Dr. Cyborg," Solomon said as he came in again, "sorry to bother you so soon again, but I just got a phone call from the legal division. We're being sued, yet again.""Oh, joy. What is it this time?" Dr. Cyborg asked."Some guy said his great-aunt's sister Anna developed an allergy to wheat as a result of some Mutant Lizards attacking them just as they were evacuating their house last year," Solomon informed him.Case in point."Is that even possible?" Dr. Cyborg asked in disbelief."I don't think so. However, there is no way I know to disprove it, so we will most likely have to pay this time. Can you think of anything?" Solomon asked."Nope, not this time. I guess we will. This guy's lawyer actually believing the story?""Whether he does or not is irrelevant. What matters is whether the judge believes it.""Let's hope he doesn't. In the meantime, get Legal Division on it.""Yes sir, Dr. Cyborg," Solomon said as he left.----------------------------Those days had been very harrowing, Dr. Cyborg remembered. Thankfully, the most of them had slowed down, although he expected them to continue for at least another month. He sighed and continued on towards the center of the ship.He went to the mess hall and logged onto the console in there, except this one was part of the ship-wide network run by Cortana(2) instead of being dedicated to the upkeep of the engine. As he entered his username and password, and saw the screen that welcomed him to the ship's network, he smiled. That reminded him, not of memories, but of what was to come.----------------------------Three hours laterDr. Cyborg stood behind the curtain. A small stage had been set up in front of the dock the new ship was resting in. A large cloth had been draped over the bow where the name was painted. Nobody but those who painted it on and the ones who came up with the name knew what was under the sheet.UlTech employees, XERRD members, and others from Lego city had come. The majority of those who had come were those who had forgiven XERRD, although some troublemakers were expected. That is why UlTech Infiltrators armed with stunning electrostaffs were spaced throughout and around the crowd. Most did not notice them, but if one tried to do something rash, the Infiltrators would definitely be noticed. He heard Solomon finish up his speech, then introduce him. Dr. Cyborg came out from behind the curtain, carrying a Nexus 7 in his hand. He walked up to the lectern, placed the tablet on top of it, then adjusted the microphone."The majority of the important things have already been said," he started off. "Not that I'm jealous or anything, I hate making speeches." The crowd laughed. "But I was suggested, no, told, by all the members of XERRD and many UlTech employees that I should make the speech to name the ship. I couldn't really refuse, so I went with it."He turned and gestured to the ship behind him. "This ship represents a new direction for XERRD. As such, the name should be a fitting one. It can't be anything simple. There must be symbolism behind it, a meaning to the name. It must show the new XERRD, that we are different from the organization that started the Dino Attack one year ago. The majority of XERRD came up with names, voted on them, and gave me a little slip of paper with the winner on it. What was written on that sheet of paper was the name Cyrista. Everybody wanted the ship named after me, for I was changing XERRD for the better. So, I decided to name the ship-" He trailed off and mentally activated the motors to release the sheet from the ship's bow. The sheet fell, revealing the name of the ship. "the Dawn! XERRD's previous capital ship was named the New Age, for it did start a new age. However, this new age was one of death. To represent the new direction of XERRD, I named the ship the Dawn. Today, we leave a New Age of doom, death, destruction, and terror behind! Today, starts the Dawn of a newer age, a better one for the world, one without destruction done simply For Science!" The crowd burst into cheers, and Dr. Cyborg stepped back, thankful the naming went so well, without any violence.----------------------------May 1, 2011It was time. The entire organization of XERRD, many supplies, and assorted vehicles and pieces of equipment had been loaded onto the Dawn. Everybody had said their goodbyes to their friends and family. Everyone except Dr. Cyborg. The friends he was leaving behind, he had said goodbye to months ago.Sadly, his parents weren't speaking to him. They believed him responsible for his sister's death, and he supposed he was, in a way. However, from what Catless had told him, his sister had forgiven him even as she died from wounds inflicted by those which he helped create. That plus his memories, which he no longer took for granted, which told him Elizabeth would forgiven him, made him sure she truly did.He mentally laughed. His sister forgave bullies even as they shoved her and stole her stuff. He at least waited a few minutes before forgiving them. They were both popular targets for bullies in school. It was ironic, because once UlTech Industries got up and running, most of the same bullies came to them asking for money and good jobs, because they were, as they put it, "old school friends". After the assorted bullies left his office, he and Elizabeth always looked at each other and simultaneously said, "Nah!" He missed his sister. He got along better with her than his high school friends did with their sisters. He sighed, then got out of the captain's chair and walked to just behind and between the two pilot seats. Kara was to his left, Dylan to his right. Solomon was against the bulkhead to his right, about 10 feet away, checking the reports sent in from all areas of the ship."Reactor's running fine!" he cried. "All gear is stowed, all hatches shut, all lines detached from the dock, and the docking clamps are released! We are ready to roll!"Dr. Cyborg put a hand on top of both pilot's headrests. He took a deep breath, now was the moment of triumph."Kara, start all engines."There was a dull *thwump* felt and heard throughout the ship as the main drives engaged, then the thrusters initialized, preparing to steer the ship."Now, Dr. Cyborg?" Kara asked."Now," he agreed.Kara pushed forward on the sticks, and the Dawn lifted out of the dock and tilted upward, pointing it's nose towards the sky. The main drives fired up and it slowly left the dock, thundering towards the sky. A few minutes later, it left the atmosphere, steadily making its way into space. Dr. Cyborg looked up at the monitor above the main viewport, connected to the stern camera. He saw a green and blue sphere slowly shrinking as it receded into the distance and into the past. He took a deep breath. Onward into the future, he thought as he watched the endless reaches of space through the viewport.

OOC:And that is how one ends two years worth of story, spanning five original, developed characters, interaction with countless other characters, a couple personal stories, and great times with great friends. It's my turn to, as Brikman put it, ride off into the sunset. I'll still be here, reading and occasionally posting, but the majority of my devotion now goes to the Alien Conquest RPG. I'll hope to see most of you there! Farewell, my friends. *sniff, sniff* I'll miss you all. Goodbye.

OOC: Okay guys, I'm afraid that I'm going to have to be a little more strict. I understand that you two have been busy with college finals, Jacks and Atton, but this can't go on forever. Seriously though, this was supposed to have ended several months ago! Therefore, I am now officially imposing a deadline. All final posts must be in by December 20, 2012. That's right: I'm giving you guys a week to finish up. Hopefully, by next week, finals should be over. I do not mean to be mean to you guys, and I understand that real life gets in the way, but... all things must come to an end, and I want to see Dino Attack RPG finally end. After all, there's very little actual roleplay going on right now, as most of recent events have been arguing about sci-fi, reuniting with Zephyria (by the way, hi!), and casting an IMDB list.

Immediately after that suggestion I actually thought of James Woods (who is a few years younger than Michael Douglas). You obviously can't deny that Michael Douglas is good for Korrupte (just look up his famous "Greed is Good" speech from Wall Street). Woods struck me as someone who could possibly capture Sinstorme's nature, the idea of a corrupt businessman, who straight up admits to it and is willing to do whatever is neccessary to stay on top of the market.

[/ENDQUOTE]I already talked to you about this via Steam, but I thought it was a very odd casting choice to choose James Woods as Sindstorme's replacement when I rejected De Niro for being too old, since Woods is only three years younger than Douglas! Surely, there must be someone younger than 50 who can pull off the Corrupt Corporate Executive role.As shown by Sean Connery in The Last Crusade versus Jeff Bridges in TRON: Legacy, it's much easier to make an actor look older than it is to make an actor look younger. I don't think Michael Douglas needs to look any older to play Korrupte, which means that Sindstorme's actor must be considerably younger, not "three years younger".

OOC:Well, my grandparents had their annual Christmas season party tonight, and there was lots of apple juice to drink. I tried a little of that drinking game with apple juice. I am full, feel a little sick, and am not inclined to drink any more apple juice tonight. I have made the supreme sacrifice for you, my friends. On a different note, you once said, PeabodySam, that when extracting Rex's Creative Spark, your original plan was for Dr. Cyborg to pull an Injection Saw out of nowhere and hang a lampshade on it. How would you have done that, what would you have said?

[/ENDQUOTE]You were warned, but I give you props for trying. When I saw that Dr. Cyborg had reconfigured his arm, I just basically erased whatever I wrote about the injection saw and did not save it, so I cannot tell you for sure. However, if my memory serves me well (which if often does not), then the extent of the lampshading would have simply been Rex silently remarking that he did not know where Dr. Cyborg got the injection saw that he was using.

I'm working a a LDD diorama of Dust's death now in addition to the 13th floor. I have plenty of stuff to work on but I'm still looking foreword to these last few posts.

[/ENDQUOTE]Ooh, another LEGO Digital Designer project? I look forward to seeing this.I myself wrecked an Iron Predator in LEGO Digital Designer and stuck Rex, Amanda, Glados, Trouble, and a couple Mutant Lizards on the scene to represent Amanda's death. Of course, the result was far more satisfactory in my Flash mock-up of the scene, which you can find on the wiki. I also composed another music mix entirely for the scene, too, which you can find on everybody's favorite forbidden video-hosting site.[/shamelessplug]

Goodbye.

[/ENDQUOTE]*raises glass*Farewell, avmatoran. As the "youngest" member of Dino Attack RPG (not in terms of age, just in terms of how long you've been with us), it's been great to have a fresh pair of hands typing this epic story alongside us. I'm sure we'll cross paths again someday, but for now... well, as Bea Arthur said, "goodnight but not goodbye".

Rotor turned in surprise to see Cabin standing in front of him. They were in the middle of a grocery store, seemed mundane enough, but for him the place seemed so meaningless. He had just been staring off into space, completely forgetting reality as it was.

“You okay?” Cabin asked.

“Yeah,” replied Rotor.

“I’ve got most of this stuff taken care of,” Cabin said sweetly. “Why don’t you go get some cereal, and we’ll meet at the check-out.”

“Yeah,” Rotor said nervously.

The cereal aisle was long and narrow. Rotor looked around, box after box. He did not know which one to grab. Finally, he just grabbed one at random, and placed it into the cart.

His life at home wasn’t so good either. Rotor casually lit a joint as Cabin worked in the kitchen of their small apartment, the little they could get from insurance. There was once a spark of genuine love between them, one that came from being trapped in that crumbling house surrounded by their potential doom, but now it was nothing. What was he to do now, he had no idea. All he could do was wait until something happened, another war that he could join.

OOC: Just a friendly reminder that, counting today, there are only four days left to post your final posts. That, and this way, should Atton finish his final post before Jacks, he'll be able to go ahead and post it without worrying about double-posting.

Also, I'm thinking that, once all is said and done, I should report this topic to a moderator so that it can be closed. We can still continue RPG discussion on the wiki, if you so please, and the fact that most of us are acquainted with one another on other websites or through Steam means that we won't fall out of touch. It's just that, if we leave this topic open, that runs the risk of... say, two years from now, some noob stumbles upon Dino Attack RPG and goes "Ooh, I want to join!" and posts a sign-up form, neglecting to notice that the final battle has ended and all the other players have left, forcing a moderator to step in and close the topic anyway due to revival. That would be a rather undignified end to Dino Attack RPG, I'd say, in comparison to closing the topic once we're finished here. Any thoughts or opinions on this?

Before I forget, that guy, you might want to ask TC01 to canonize your Iron Hammer MOC before it's too late to do so.

Well you probably have noticed that I have not been on the wiki lately. This is because since school started I've been using a laptop that was provided to me. The School laptop blocks a lot of sites and unfortunately the the wiki is one of them (Oddly I was able to get onto a Ku Klux Klan site for a research paper). Is the wiki classified as something? If it is not than anything that lacks a classification is automatically blocked. If you were to lie and say make it say ... educational, I might be able to use it.

I'll try and contact Takanuva too. It would be fun to have that MOC canonized. Do you plain to close the topic on the 20th or would you give us a few days to say goodby? I've written a teaser for my dino 2012 miniseries and I'm wondering whether I sould post it before or after the last post since it does not really relate to this RPG. Avmatoran, I've set Dr. Cybrog up as one of the dual protagonists if that's okay with you. You said once that you wanted him to be involved. If you want, I can send you an outline of the plot.

Also, that last post about Rotor only made me think he was more of an . That was a very depressing way to go Atton :P

BTW, I saw Apocalypse now on Friday. It was fun seeing the inspirations for Rotor and Lance. I also mentioned my last four acting picks in my last post. If Atton wants to look at them I could finish the list. If I can ever get back on the wiki I could create a fake movie page

That is all

Yes, please! I'm fine with dual protagonism, and I'd like to get a general feel for the plot. I agree with the locking bit, much more dignified.

Also, a little time for us all to say goodbye at once would work well, I think. But, it's not up to me, it's up to you.

OOC: Atton's not very big on the idea of happy endings for everyone in the wake of the end of war, opting for the more "complicated" approach of a "realistic" aftermath. He sent me a preview of Kate & Sarah's conclusion.

It's not pretty.

Your Honor, I Plead the Fifth.

I really need to handle my signature problems better.

OOC: I have given a small ammount of thought to possible acting pickes for Mr. Sindstorm. I think it'll probably be best to get some second opinions before any I make any final descisions, but here's some of the possible names I've thought of:

-Kevin Spacey

-Sam Neil

-Giovanni Rabisi

-Gabriel Byrne

-David Tennant

-Charlie Sheen

-Alec Baldwin (though while he'd be the right age and did touch upon this sort of character in The Aviator, it might look a bit awkward with his brother Daniel being cast as Montoya)

-Leonardo DiCaprio

-Michael Fassbender

-Kurt Russell

I tried to find people who would be considerably younger than Michael Douglas (or at least can look younger), yet old enough that it would be believable for them to be the head of a multi-million dollar company.

I have also been trying to find a possible replacement for Taylor Lautner (I can't help it, I just really don't like him- in fact even taking the whole Twilight thing into account I honestly found Robert Pattinson to be the far more appealing of the two, and he at least is somewhat redeeming himself with half-decent roles like Water For Elephants and Cosmopolis). So far the best option I've found is Joel Edgerton (for those of you who don't recognize the name, he appeared as young Uncle Owen in the Star Wars prequels, and also coincedentially had a part in the 2011 prequel to The Thing).

OoC:I'll try and contact Takanuva too. It would be fun to have that MOC canonized.

OOC: I do still vaguely frequent this thread, so if you want to just post the link here I'll notice it.Or PM me instead, if you prefer.

Atton, I'll take your recommendations into consideration but Window, Montgonal, Viper, and the Darkitect are still my priority. I posted my recommendations a few posts ago.

OOC: Well, obviously for the Darkitecht you'll need someone who can really pull off a creepy performance. I know Robert De Niro once did a really good portrayal of the Devil (I can't say where though since it would give away the big twist to a really good mystery). Of course, even then that required a lot of subtlety. For some reason the Darkitecht doesn't seem very subtle.

For Viper we'll need someone agressive. For some reason I just thought of Tom Hollander as that creepy hitman from Hanna (turns out he also played Cutler Beckett in Pirates of the Caribbean, in case anyone hasn't seen that movie). You could also try Gerard Butler or Russell Crowe, both of whom can also play tough guys. Orlando Bloom might also be able to do it if for no other reason than to try something different (his role as a villain was pretty much the only remotely interesting thing about Paul W.S. Anderson's version of The Three Musketeers, which was otherwise a piece of that took a piece of classic literature and brought in flying ships! Seriously, the original book was already full of sword fights and exciting action scenes, you DID NOT NEED TO BRING IN FLYING SHIPS! WHY, ANDERSON, WHY?!). Tom Sizemore's also played a few tough, military types (Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down), and Adam Baldwin's played a few more... aggressive characters (Jayne and Animal Mother quickly spring to mind). You could even gender flip Viper and cast Angelina Jolie.

There. You got a whole list of several names to pick from for at least two of your characters. That should clear up some space for you to consider my other suggestions.

OOC: I suppose when I said "I'd never really considered" the design that wasn't quite accurate, but you've mostly hit what I've imagined- I like the general design. Kind of aerial Star Destroyerish, just as Peasam said. The only thing is I've always written the ship as being a bit bigger than that*. For instance, in the final battle it deploys a wing of 6 or so Blue Eagles, and Magma and Zed commented that they haven't had time to fully rebuild the cargo bays and so are sending this ship into battle with less than the usual complement of vehicles, and I know I used to have her fly around a small attack force of Fire Hammers and maybe even an Iron Predator.Even revising some earlier ridiculous size estimations downward, she should still dwarf the T-1 Typhoon model by more, I think.Alternatively, the fact that the ship was rebuilt from ruins by AT without the full cargo bays provides a nice cop-out. If all the ship could hold was 6 Blue Eagles, that's not too much extra cargo space, so then we simply say that it's a bit bigger than suggested by the scale model, has more cargo space, and is is a representation of the ship as it most recently appeared in the Final Battle, before Magma stuck a warp drive on the back but after the original larger cargo bays were blown up.I like this idea. It's canon!*The only size benchmark I'd come up with and tried to stick to, over the years, was that it was around half the size of the Voltage. Which raises the question of how big the Voltage is, of course. I do know Kotua used to deploy large swarms of his robotic Ice Blades (I think they were called Voltage Blades? Vulture Blades? My mind is failing...), and they were housed in the airship. So I always assumed it was really, really big.

OoC:Aright, I hope this is the last round I do.Lance - Joel Edgerton is a win. I was thinking he could play Momtgonel but Lance is good too.The Darkitect - you are just bound and determined to cast Di nero arn't you? I think that Ian McDiarmond has the ham and evilness to pull it off better however. Di Nero seems more mobster and the darketect sould be a more classy evil brit.Wundows - I still love David Spade but I think Juarin Bartha would also be good.Montgomal - I think I like Jack Gyllanhaul or Toby Maguire. I'm also open to giveing Hayden Christianson another chance.Viper - I like Jurard Butler. I think a big name would be appropriate for his role.Mr. Sandstorm - a lot of good choices but most are on the older side. For fear of type casting I'll skip the guy from Avatar and go for Michael Fassbender.Alright, I think that's everyone. Let me know what you think and we can move on to the end.Edit: it seems on the time it took me to write this on my phone takanuva replied. I'm honored he likes my design and I'm glad it can join the halls of great Rpg vehicles. I'm not going to make any changes to the model. I don't think I could make that Tyhoon any smaller so we're just say the Iron Hammer is bigger then it looks. ;)Edit2: I think we all still want to see more photos of the headquarters under attack peabodySam. :P

OOC: Maybe the Iron Hammer is a Tardis, in which case it's bigger on the inside.

Edit2: I think we all still want to see more photos of the headquarters under attack peabodySam. :P

Same here. I don't know what's taking PeabodySam so long. He never took this long to post the previous model.

As for the casting picks:

I was briefly starting to think that Justin Bartha could do Montgonel, but I think I'm starting to lean towards Jake Gyllenaal. He definitely has the right sort of look (though he might have to shave) and can pull off a variety of roles. He probably could pull off the calm and rational attitude of Montgonel (and his increasing contrast with the much more aggressive Pharisee).

For Windows I'm still having a bit of trouble deciding for sure, but I was just doing a bit of searching and found myself considering Tim Guinee. He can pull off the sort of disheveled look I was going for with the character.

Alright, I think that's everyone. Let me know what you think and we can move on to the end.

Well, technically we still have three of the criminals hired by Sindstorme (Scorsese, Orange, and Verbal), some of the Second Headquarters Squad, Vladek, Captain Click, Elizabeth Wilma, the Brickolinis, the Infomaniac, Flatfoot Thomsen, Enter and Return, Bill Ding, Plastic Serpent, Donnie (especially with Steve Buschemi already cast in a different role), and possibly a couple of final battle agents I'm forgetting.

OOC: Now you've just inspired me to write a story where Magma and his companion steal Time Cruiser technology and install it in the ship and use it to go around all of space and time fighting bad people wherever they appear....I don't know if you've casted an actor to play Magma yet, but if you haven't, he's Christopher Eccleston. And Covert is Alex Kingston. Or... well, any of the other actors who've played a companion over the years, I suppose. But Magma is definitely Eccleston-as-the-Ninth.(Not because I specifically liked the Ninth Doctor- I'm a Fourth + Tenth fanboy- but because the Ninth's angst and depression and violence and all that is a crucial part of Magma's character. Plus he kind of looks like how I imagine Magma. I guess alternatively Magma could be the Seventh, who was manipulative and could be cruel as well... nah, the Ninth it is).And don't be surprised if I actually try to write this story now.

Geez, thanks for giving me more stuff to do Atton. I was feeling pretty good about myself. If you want to pick who plays those characters be my guest but I think we have all the main characters down. The only ones I would really think about are the 2nd Headquarter squad but if It's all the same to you I would rather stop before we start casting obscure figures with only a few appearances. If you want to pick some actors I won't argue and I'll just do what you say.

I was thinking for consistency's sake you sould make Buschemi Donni. Then you cold find someone else to be Deniro Keaton or whoever he is now. Really the only characters that you listed that are remotely significant are Heavy, Dr. Inferno, Medic, Sniper, Enter, Return, Soldier, and Engineer. I did a search and everyone else was mentioned less then fifty times so I really don't want to spend the time working on them.

I just want to feel a sense of accomplishment, we've cast over 100 actors and actresses. That's really good enough for me. :)

EDIT: I'm terribly sorry. I'm afraid created the impression that I thought your characters insignificant. That's not at all what I meant. I did not mean they had a small role, only a small part.

OOC: I thought I should finish up my part in this RPG. As to what actors would play my characters, I've given it some thought, and here's the list

B/Benton- I cannot think of any actor to play B, as he is at least somewhat a personification of myself.

Chris/Crooks- Jason Statham

Rob/Rookie- Leonardo DiCaprio

Kevin/Knuckles- Viggo Mortensen

Sam/Sucker- Christian Bale

Zeke/Zapper- Liam Neeson. I know he's on the list, but he's who I thought of for him.

Thomas/Tempest- Christopher Walken

Secondly, I apologize if this IC is a bit too dark or philosphical, but I wanted a bit of a different ending. Thank you all, I had a blast. :)

IC:

The convoy rode on through the desert. Abandoned towns were mere shadows in the distance. The only noise was that of the engines. And suddenly, a noise broke the silence. It was a sound that no one of them had truly heard for at least a year.

It was the sound of a cell phone ringing.

B called for the convoy to halt. They stopped, and B answered it.

“Hello, this is Dr. Brickholm for Agent Benton Kabrinsky. We are very sorry to inform you that your mother has passed away due to natural causes. Again, we are very sorry, but there was nothing we could do. You are hereby recalled to the Antarctica Hospital for funeral arrangements. Thank you for your time.”

B slumped in his seat. And, for the first time in what seemed like years, he cried.

“She's dead. Our first day of peace, and she's dead. She was the one who always kept us going when dad was gone, and she's gone. We're the last ones left.”

When Benton and Sam were younger, they had wondered why they never went to family gatherings like their friends. They soon learned that their extended family, quite simply didn't exist. Their branch of the Kabrinsky family was the only one that existed. And now, it seemed to B that they were the only ones left.

“So,” said Sam, “What do we do? We're stuck in the middle of nowhere.”

“I don't know.”

A gunshot shattered the silence. Military reflexes kicked in instantly, and the squad took up defensive positions behind their vehicles. Another gunshot pierced the air. B let out a visible gasp of pain.

“I guess... Our hearing isn't as good as it used to be.”

“Ok,” said Kevin, “That son of a megablock is going down. Though, I'm surprised he hit you. How bad is it, Sam?”

“It's hard to tell. It's bad, that's for sure, but I can't tell where the round actually is. It could be... fatal.”

“Well, then,” said B, “We still have one last mission. One last hurrah?”

“But we don't know if it is fatal!”

“Do we even have anything real left to fight for? We fought to protect the people we loved, and guess what! They're dead! The only reason we're still alive is because the people we love basically killed themselves for us! And for what? So we can go around and kill the people that have been attacking us! And, in return, they go and kill the people we love! It's a viscous cycle, and it's one that never truly ends. I keep hearing that peace is achievable, but there is no peace on earth, not yet. We need to end the cycle.”

“And you propose to do that by killing.”

“No. I have come to the conclusion that my life is worthless, that all that I've fought for is megablocking worthless! That's why I didn't stay at the celebration! Some part of me can't stand celebrating at the mass murder of I don't know how many fellow living beings, and the slaughter of animals, even though they all tried to kill us. Something in that doesn't feel right. The problem is that violence is all I know. All we know. That's why I want to end it all. And I don't care if you follow, and I would prefer if you go back and live your lives, but I'm ending my empty life, because when you are abandoned by everything you hold dear, all you have left is revenge. And all I want right now, is to make sure that they die before they kill me.”

B got up, pulled out his sidearm, loaded and made it ready, and started running towards the direction of the gunshot. Slowly, as if time had slowed, Sam, Rob, Kevin, and Chris, grabbed their weapons and followed.

It was a fairly small camp, as the camps go. No more than thirty people in all walked and lay around, wondering what to do with their days. When there had still been refugees around, they stole the refugee's supplies, but now they had many bullets, many guns, but no one to shoot. And then, from the watchtower in the middle of the camp, a gunshot from their sniper rang out. The bandits awoke from sleep, and looked at each other with bloodthirsty glances. They knew what was going to happen.

The sniper was getting more eager. He must have seen that he had not killed his mark, and he was trying to remedy his mistake. B had found that snipers as a rule panicked when you saw them and ran at them. Their aim would get steadily worse, giving you a fairly easy kill.

“One last hurrah.”

Rob was never one to charge blindly into battle. It felt alien to him to do this, but he was ready for this. Instead of charging head on, he ran around the group and started firing from behind.

“One last hurrah.”

Chris was stealthy, attacking from the shadows. But, he thought there was honour in letting an enemy see you before you killed them. Yes, his blades would taste blood today, sadly.

“One last hurrah.”

Kevin didn't like violence. He had always found it ironic that the guy tasked with destruction hated it. But, the one thing he did pride himself on was his consistency, because he didn't think he was going to stop now.

“One last hurrah.”

Sam was a medical man, a doctor. Killing sickened him, and the term “preventative medicine” left a bitter taste in his mouth. But, he was not about to be killed, if he could help it.

“One last hurrah.”

B was already firing before anyone else had the chance to. Bullets from his sidearm peppered the bandits. He reloaded, and a fire ignited wherever he shot. Unknowingly, he had loaded incendiary rounds into his pistol. As he fired his last bullet, he heard it go through metal.

“Well,” said B, “One last hurrah, it was.”

And with that, the gas tanks blew up, and fire cleansed the battleground.

OOC: While I'm sure Liam Neeson is skilled enough to play two roles, what about Bill Nighy? I think he'd be a good Zapper. Also, that guy, I'm still not particularly satisfied with your pick for Mort. I think maybe it would be best to just take him off the list entirely until I can come up with someone else. Finally, I intend to spend the rest of the day on my final post, which will hopefully be up tonight. Probably very late tonight.

OOC: I don't think I've seen Bill Nighy in anything that I recognized him in. However, I think I would now say that Robert Downey Jr. would be my choice for Zapper. I'm pretty sure he isn't on the list yet. :P

OOC: Well, you probably best know Bill Nighy as Davy "My design is totally not stolen from Cthulu despite him having nothing to do with the old legends I'm based on" Jones in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Other well known roles of his include Underworld and Shaun of the Dead. He also made a guest appearance in the Doctor Who episode with Vincean Van Gough.

Well I like Bill Nighy too but the creator's choice takes president. I am slightly amused that such big name actors were picked for characters who appear in less then 13 posts. I would still like a B but I suppose that spot will need to be left void for the time being. Maybe Bill Nighy could be Zapper and Robbert Downey Jr. could be B? I'm afraid I don't know ether character very well.

Darn, I knew I could not stay away. I sould be studding for my french final but thinking about the 2nd headquarters's squad drew me back. After reviewing some expert advice on a TF2 forum I think I found some names I like.

Scout – Eli Roth, mostly from his performance in Inglorious s.

Heavy – Brad Garrett, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or Will Sasso. I don't know Will Sasso very well but he he had some good support on a the forum. Brad Garrett is a funny guy with a great voice and he's supper big while Schwarzenegger might just be to cliche.

Demoman – Samuel L. Jackson. Not much to be said here.

Soldier – Nicholas Cage or Bruce Willis. I would love to see Cage on the roster, he can be very animated and his bag acting might be exactly what the part calls for.

Medic – Christoph Waltz, Stephen Colbert, of Tim Curry. Colbert can't act but he's absolutely hilarious. He so fun and plays a great ham.

Sniper – Eric Bana. Maybe to serious.

Engineer – John C. Reilly, Paul Giamatti, Stephen Tobolowsky. All of them are so punchable.

I also found who I think is the perfect replacement for Mort. Mathieu Amalric's performance in Quantum of Solace seems to convoy Mort's charter very well. Although in that movie he was a villain I think his somewhat creepy performance is very applicable to Mort. Plus he walked with a limp in Quantum.

Well I suppose tomorrow is the last day to right an iC, do you still plain to post one tonight Jackson?

EDIT: It also occurred to me Liv Tyler might make a good Elizabeth.

OOC: For soldier I'd normally say R. Lee Ermey, but he's a bit old for the part now. You could try Tom Hanks or Barry Pepper.

Also while Samuel L. Jackson can be intimidating I'm not sure he'd make a good Demoman, if only because of a change in nationality (I find it hard to imagine Samuel "I have had it with these megablocking snakes on this megablocking plane" Jackson donning a Scottish accent).

For Enter and Return obviously you'd need to find either a pair of identical twins or find a good, humorous fellow who can play both (using clever camera angles, editing, and when neccessary a double with his face superimposed on top). The best I can think of right now is Armie Hammer (who played a dual role as identical twins in The Social Network). Maybe some famous comedian can play Clickitt. I thought of John Cleese, but if you wanted someone younger we could have Hugh Laurie go back to his early roots (yes, I know now everyone knows him for House, but go look him up in Blackadder).

I actually didn't think much of Elizabeth. Liv Tyler is an interesting suggestion, though I'm not sure if she's quite got the piratey feel I'd be looking for. I'm still trying to decide for certain but Kate Beckinsale seems like a possibility.

And dang it, why do I now want to try and find a part for Tommy Wiseau?

OoC:Cool, I'm glad I was able to get your input. I'll update the list once I get off my phone.Does anyone else think R. Lee Ermey is to old? He's over sixty now but I could still cast him. Pepper is a good actor but I have a hard time seeing him get animated. Now I'm leaning toward Nick Cage.I know Demoman in TF2 is black and also that he has a Scottish accent. He also has red hair as a minifigure. These things have no logical reason to go together! I picked Samuel L. Jackson because a) or cast could be more diverse and b) he's good at playing crazy.Does anyone have anything to say about my other Second Headquarters squde cast or sould I just pick some before Peabody's ultimate post?

Well...this is it. Once again, I'm sorry to have been the one to keep you all waiting. These past seven years have been fantastic, and it has been a pleasure and an honor to be along for the ride. I have composed a sort of farewell speech, spoiler'd so that future readers need not scroll past it, but I'd at least skim through it if I were you.

To those who have come and gone:Kotua In Space -- It's mostly your doing that I'm still here. Thank you for metaphorically taking me under your RPing wing during my first couple of weeks. I might have dropped out before I even got off the runway otherwise.Nura -- Proper respects for starting the first DARPG Characters Topic -- the predecessor to my Characters Topic, which I'd like to think was the spiritual predecessor to the Wiki. Seen in that light, we owe a lot to you.Zephyria -- Bringing a slightly different meaning to "come and gone." I feel like I ought to put in a good word for you now that I know you're watching this thread. You were pretty cool.Metty The Black Mage -- You sure pulled some crazy stuff. Never a dull moment when you were online.Tahuninja,Toa Tanak, & Enter Fishstick -- Thanks for keeping the RPG alive during the dark ages of 2007 and 2008 so that it would still be around for me to come back to.Toa Antrakha -- I can't keep track of your ever-changing display name, so this is what you get. Had some good times, eh? Sometimes I go back to the old thread, peruse those slow nights in the Goo Caverns, and it's almost like we're back there again, posting back and forth for hours and barely staying on topic. :rolleyes:To those who stayed to the utter end:

TakunuvaC01 -- Always did love your fast-paced and descriptive writing. And those Pratchett references, man. :lol:Atton Rand -- Like Tahuninja, Tanak, and Fishstick, I owe you one for keeping the game alive. We may not have seen eye-to-eye all the time, but in the end it was good fun. Wouldn't have been the same without you.Benton Kabrinsky -- Your posts were always fun to read, what with all the rapid-fire dialogue. Thanks for helping me out with all my tangential subplots.Andrewnuva199 -- You're rather unique amongst us, you know. We never really got to see your writing improve, because it was great right from your very first post. that guy was completely correct when he described you as influential.that guy from that show & Brikman McStudz -- Sorry to lump you two together, but I have very similar things to say to you both. I'll admit I had some doubts about you guys at first, mostly due to the way you sauntered in and gave yourselves hugely significant roles in the story right off the bat. However, it wasn't long before I realized that you were perfectly justified in strolling in like you owned the place -- because in a way, you did. There were several times over the years when I would forget that this was our world, not just PeaSam's, and the pair of you never failed to remind me that such was not the case. that guy, yours were the some of the very most finely developed characters in this RPG. And Brikman, your action scenes were always a blast to read.avmatoran -- Nice job sneaking in right at the end. It was great to have you along to really play up the sci-fi side of things. And finally:PeabodySam -- Thank you, thank you so much for building this world for us to play with. What you've done is absolutely incredible -- you took one of LEGO's least popular lines and turned it into something legendary, even though you had no idea at the time. It's been pretty darn cool to watch your skills improving over the years, in terms of both managing an RPG and writing in general. Maybe now you'll finally have time to finish the Story of Frosam trilogy No rush, really :P

What follows is my final IC in the Dino Attack Text-Based Role-Playing Game. It's been fun, guys. It's been real fun.IC: 22 April 2011David O'Neal got off the bus and walked. It was the first time since December that he'd been without a wheelchair, crutch, or other support. The bus stop was two blocks from the apartment, but a slight detour and a stop at the city bank turned it into three and a half. Passersby glanced at his curved metal shin in surprise, but he paid them no mind. Arriving at the building -- a four-story brick affair -- he struggled up the stairs to the second floor and unlocked the door.Bart and April Helmutson had generously offered Dave a place to stay until he could find a home of his own. While he was certainly grateful, it was positively unnerving to see photographs of Tracer -- no, Jason -- at earlier ages distributed from room to room. April had initially insisted upon allowing Dave to occupy Jason's old room, but it had turned out to be rather unpleasant. Jason had started appearing in his dreams -- nervous, happy and laughing, or dying on a cot. Then one night, Dave was back in the bombed-out DAHQ, held captive by O'Cozy's realists, and when Tracer slipped over and freed him, Dave turned to see the kid riddled with bulletholes, eyes wide and lifeless, mouth twisted open in a silent scream. He'd awoken in a cold sweat, and had slept on the couch ever since.April was pulling on her jacket when Dave walked in. "Morning!" she called out cheerily. "The final appointment went well, then?"Dave nodded. "All clear." And that means it's time to go."Fantastic," April said. "Oh, you have some mail." She handed him an envelope and he looked it over. From Hertz -- another invitation to return to...whatever it was DA was calling itself now. Perhaps Hertz could deal with the past year's experiences by building something positive out of them, but for Dave, that was rather out of the question. He just wanted to put all of 2010 behind him for good, if that was possible."Well, I'm off to the memorial. See you later," April said, stepping out into the corridor and pulling the door shut behind her.The memorial was another thing Dave wanted to avoid. He'd no desire to see the names of his friends on a block of stone. The names of Sarah O'Neal, Swerve, Tracer, Rex, and more were already etched in his mind. And then there were the others -- Kotua, Databoard, Blade, Fullmetal...he'd no idea whether they had survived, nor any desire to find out if they hadn't. Try as he might to stop it, the Dino Attack still continued to work its way back into his life -- just a few days ago there'd been that paragraph in the newspaper; B and his squad had been found dead in the ruins of a bandit camp. And then there was Hertz's hopeful barrage of mail. Dave liked Hertz, honest to Builder, but his own sentiments towards the Dino Attack were difficult to put into words. He tossed the envelope onto the table unopened, then dug into his satchel and pulled out the wads of cash he'd withdrawn from the bank -- compensation for his services on the Dino Attack Team, plus the meagre sum he'd earned over the past three months doing inventory work in a nearby bookstore (he had to take some amusement from that. A degree in electrical engineering and he couldn't even so much as get a job in a hardware store). Counting out a portion of the money, he pinned it to a sheet of paper and jotted down a note of gratitude and explanation -- Bart and April had insisted that it wasn't necessary for him to chip in and pay some of the rent, but he couldn't help but feel like a freeloader.Dave left the rent money on the table. April would likely stay at the memorial for hours, and Bart worked all day down at the harbour, so by the time they found it, he'd be long gone. The rest of the money he slipped into a hidden pocket inside his satchel. He showered quickly before packing, musing as he did so. 2010 was not devoid of redeeming qualities. He was all but guaranteed a job with Alpha Team or the ADO, should he ever decide that life in a quasi-military organization was for him -- right now, the answer was "no," but if the world came under attack by a force of brutal malevolence again, well, you never know -- and he'd found friends, both old and new, and some in quite high places, on whom he knew he could depend if he needed it. Zach, Andrew, Dr. Cyborg, Reptile, Hertz, Wright, Shiller...And Kat. That was another matter entirely. True to her word, she'd sent him telegrams -- letters written as though they were telegrams, that is; her humour certainly hadn't changed -- for the first few weeks after her departure. But the last one had been months ago. That was why Dave was leaving now.He shut the water off, dried himself off, dressed, and walked back out to the couch, where he gathered his few belongings and tucked them into his satchel -- a few changes of clothes, toothbrush and soap, an extra prosthetic and collapsible crutch just in case, and a few electrician's tools. Then he pulled the bag over his right shoulder and walked out.Author's note: It's a fairly large satchel. Just go with it.------------------------A fifteen-minute bus ride brought Dave to LEGO City's central train station. He was headed for the doors when a voice stopped him."Just where do you think you're going, Dave?"He turned, and there, leaning against the wall, was Lucy Wright. "Away," he replied solemnly.Lucy crossed the sidewalk and nudged him in the shoulder. "Cmon, you gotta give us more details than that.""Yeah, we didn't follow you here just to let you slip past us with a few cryptic words," said a second voice. Dave spun around to see Ben Shiller leaning out the window of the old station wagon he'd taken no notice of just moments before. "Besides, we'd already figured out you were going 'away'." He gestured to the back of the car, which Dave now saw contained several suitcases and sleeping bags."Wait, back up," Dave said. "You followed me? How?""We hadn't heard anything from you in almost a month, and it was getting a bit worrying," said Wright. "So we looked up your friend, Agent Mort.""And we got him to sniff some proverbial paper trails, off the books," Shiller continued. "That's how we found out you'd quit your job and reserved a train ticket for the same day you'd be finished with your physical therapy. It didn't take much to put two and two together.""Okay, but...well...I couldn't ask you to drop your lives and come with me.""You were willing to do that for Kat when she left, though," Wright pointed out. "And you were stuck in a wheelchair then.""We couldn't do anything less and still call ourselves your friends, O'Neal," said Shiller. "And this is about Kat, isn't it?"Dave nodded. "I haven't heard from her since the end of January. Before then I was getting a postcard a week. Not sure what happened, but if she's still out there I'd like to catch up.""Well, I know you care a lot about her, even if it's in a way we can't exactly understand," said Wright, circling the car and getting in the driver's seat. "Hop in. None of us are getting any younger." It didn't take much deliberation for Dave to make his decision. He pulled open the door, tossed his bag onto the back seat, and followed it in. "So, where are we headed?" Wright asked, starting the engine."Her last letter came from World City," said Dave. "I thought I'd start there, but if there are no leads? Well, who knows."Shiller laughed. "World City or bust, then. Subsequent stops: everywhere." He looked back and shot Dave a smirk. "Just like summer '04 all over again, eh?""Just like summer '04," Dave agreed with a grin. And five minutes later, they were pulling onto the highway, with the past in their wake, and nothing but the future ahead of them.

OOC: For Demoman, you could try performing a race lift and finding a red-headed Scottish actor to take on the role (how would David Tennant look with a beard and eye patch, I wonder...), which would fit the minifigure. Actually come to think of it Sean Harris has the right sort of look and he can play rough characters. Better yet you could gender flip his character (why not? We already did a race lift on Specs and Ata) and cast Laura Fraser or some other big-name Scottish actress.

Better yet, we could just cast Tommy Wiseau. I can see it now:

Demoman: I deed not hit her, I did naaaaaaaaaatttttttttttt *thows water bottle aside which immediately explodes*

Demoman: Oh hai, Firecracker.

Scout: Yo guys, let's play some football!

Clint: We got to stop the hybrids at Fort Legorado.

Scout: What about you Soldier?

Soldier: I'm up for it.

Scout: Spy

Spy: But of course.

Scout: Demoman?

Demoman: Ask Clint.

Scout: come on.

Clint: No.

Scout: Please. Come on.

Everone: CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP.

*Cut to everyone standing in the middle of the desert throwing a football back and forth*.

And of course, the long awaited final post by me.

IC: Sarah Pierce could not help but gasp as her eyes snapped open. Several months after the war ended, and yet she was still plagued by insomnia, and whenever she wasn’t, she was faced with nightmares. The result left her sometimes wandering around the small house her husband had gotten for her and his new family.

Dr. Alan Pierce was fully aware of Sarah’s condition. His daughter, however was worse. Kate became something of a recluse, distancing herself from her parents. Before long she found herself falling in with the wrong crowd, finding an addiction to drugs and cigarettes.

Pierce was really the only stable one in the family, and he had been doing everything he could to help. He tried seeking help for both. He even tried talking to Dr. Shaw, who began arriving frequently to speak with Kate.

“How are you?” Shaw would ask. In her usual state, Kate would typically claim to be fine. Shaw did her best to comfort Kate and to get her to state her problems, with varying degrees of success.

The worst came one evening at dinner. Pierce had taken care of the cooking, as Sarah had trouble handling the utensils, her hands constantly trembling when she did so, especially with sharp objects.

“Where’s Kate?” Pierce asked. Sarah looked up. They tried calling her, but she did not respond. Pierce ran upstairs hurriedly and knocked on Kate’s door. No reply. He finally decided to open it, and then saw to his horror Kate sprawled out over her bed, a needle lying on the ground.

Pierce reacted with horror as he ran to her. Quickly he ran to the nearest phone and called an ambulance. It arrived in a relatively short time, and two paramedics that fortunately were not equipped with sharks or trees arrived on the scene, one of them his old buddy Wade.

“What happened?” Wade asked.

“It’s my daughter,” replied Pierce. “She’s o.d.’d!”

“This is serious!” Wade replied. “Get her in intensive care!”

“I’ll give you a hand,” Pierce said.

“That won’t be necessary,” replied Wade.

“I’m a doctor,” replied Pierce. “And she’s my daughter!”

Wade sighed. “Alright, come on, help me get her to the ambulance.”

A loud beeping noise rang in Kate’s ears as she awoke. She saw the familiar face of Dr. Shaw standing in front of her, smiling with relief as she noticed.

Kate looked at Shaw with some confusion. “What happened?”

“You overdosed,” replied Shaw. “We nearly lost you. Now you’re going to be okay but you can’t keep taking those drugs.”

Kate nodded. Pierce soon ran into the room, followed by Sarah, who was quick to hug her beloved daughter. A few tears were visible in her eyes. “I’m so glad you’re okay,” she said.

Kate could not help crying somewhat herself. Pierce walked up to her and held her hand tightly. “I know this is difficult for you Kate, but I’m here, and I’m going to help you get through this.”

OOC:

Jackson Lake, glad to help. I had a lot of fun doing it, too. That's just the kind of guy I am.

Atton Rand, boy, that was depressing. As much disagreements that happened here that we were on opposite sides of, it was still fun playing with you.

Well, I guess that's it. All votes are in, as far as I know. It's up to you, now, PeaSam.

OoC: Well it looks like that's it. In order to not spoil these last moments I think I'll continue actor talks via PM with Atton Rand. The last thing I want now is to create a distasteful distraction. It's been such a joy to work with all of you. Atton it's been fun to talk with someone who shares my taste in movies and realism. To spite the fact that you seem to only talk about movies made before 1990 it's still been incredibly fulfilling to cast with you and share cinematic in-jokes. On the flip side, Jackson Lake and Andrewnuva add such a nice light hearted touch to everything. There are times when you seem like the only sane men among us and your wise words and logic help keep things civil. Your both so fun to work with and it's great to interact with characters that have such an extensive and influential history in the RPG. You folks connect me to the players of the past and that's a great honor. My history with Brikman has been a really special one. We both started at around the same time and we played of each others noobishness in a good way. Working with Brikman helped me improve my writing and develop the skills for making a good story. I learn to think beyond the next post and instead develop the arcs and continual narrative for writing a good story. We bounced ideas of each other and experimented and we both came out stronger in the end. Not every new player had that opportunity and because of that folks like Rix never stayed around long. Avmatoran, the passion that you have put into this is incredible. You would always be the first to respond to questions and make your opinion known after major posts. I might even venture that you are among this RPG's most dedicated players. You really put your heart into every post and I really respect that of you. You're an honest and kind guy and I've loved playing with you. PeabodySam, what you have done for me is beyond words. You took me out of the writing void I was living in and encouraged me to boost my litterary talent. I'm a much more critical and articulate writer now and that's do in large part to the incredible story I've gotten to work with. You've been a great leader who has shown intelligence and humor, humility and assertiveness. I do not make an overstatement when I say I will always hold you in high esteem.

Finally I want to thank everyone for being such good sports about my bad spelling. That's part of why I love being with you people, You are critical but never cross the line to being judgmental. You all have given me good advice and I've learned a lot from you. The next post is a teaser to a Dino 2010 miniseries I was inspired to write. I wanted to connect these two LEGO lines and I've been setting up the ground work for some time. Recently I sent my outline and and some other materials to avmatoran who expressed interest in collaboration with me. Naturally I was happy to share my plains with a fellow writer. I was going to post it after PeabodySam's finale because of it's nature as a teaser and its chronology taking place in 2012. After some thinking it occurred to me that PeabodySam sould be the last one to write an iC. This is his baby and no one but him sould be the one to end it. I also figured that the memory of this RPG sould not rest on what is contained in this teaser. PeabodySam sould be the one to write the happy ending.Without further ado, this is a teaser for what awaits in 2012. Warning, this might contain some spoilers and some tear jurkers so read at your own risk.

OoC: Are you sure?

OoC: You'll only be depressed...

OoC: Fine, whatever, just go for it. I warned you.

iC:

The Siberian Tundra: desolate, isolated, and beyond cold. The unfriendly white sky was lost behind the waves of snow rushing past the chilled window of a lonely and isolated Quonset. Frost fixed itself around the edges of the small chilled windows that separating the warm interior from the bleak wasteland beyond. If it were not for his company, Elite Agent Charlie “Hertz” Shultz would be having a dreadful time. Although he liked some degree of seclusion, the pear vast emptiness of his surroundings was almost too much to bear. It was roughly 108 kilometers to the closest civilization. That was, of course, if one considered a sled-dog outpost and warn-down airport civilization. He was utterly isolated, his connections to the outside world consisted solely of a temperamental internet connection and a high powered radio that was only to be used in emergencies. So how had Hertz come to be in such a remote local? The short answer was that he volunteered; among the 2012 dino team Hertz had qualifications in communications far beyond that of his pears. His skills in radios had, in fact, earned him the nickname. The nature of his present assignment dictated that the operator be able to track the extensive movements of dinosaurs across the globe and relay that information to the rest of the team. The operator needed to possess skills in tracking and telecommunications in addition to being able to live with a single person without going insane. It was for that opportunity that Hertz had offered to undertake the assignment; on the condition he got to choose his colleague. It was no decision to request his wife, Naomi Schultz, fill the position. While spending the next few months in a small Siberian quonset was hardly romantic; Hertz had had little time to be alone with her over the last few years. After a brief honeymoon to space, Hertz had own again been called to duty. After the events of December 21st, 2010 the world had become infested with masterless dinosaurs, no longer under the power of the the maelstrom, these creatures now roamed wild across the planet. The Dino attack team had originally been tasked with defeating the forces of XERRD and Dr. Rex. While they had seceded in that regard, they had not been prepared for the inevitable cleanup. The maelstrom was gone and a reformed XERRD was now under the leadership of Dr. Cyborg and Dr. Koplowitz. The leftover dinosaurs still ran rampant two years later and alien invaders had gathered up the pieces to to utilize them in their own diabolical campaign. The dino attack team’s popularity had fallen drastically in the past few years. Because of their inability to clean up the results of the war, public opinion of them was drastically down. The fact that XERRD unleashed the dinosaurs in the first place was irrelevant. What people wanted was someone to blame and the dino team was an acceptable target. In the years following the war, the Dino team had retired their old tan and maroon vehicles in favor of a new set of yellow equipment. Under incredible political pressure, Specs had been forced to step down as head of the dino attack team and had been replaced by a popular hunter and scientist named Josh Thunder. His job was to clean up the mess he had inherited and thus far he had proved horribly unsuccessful. The lack of support coming from Antarctica did not help. Protests in the facilities called for Thunder’s resignation as well. Founding for the team was high and taxed the populous beyond their means. When people paid their hard-earned money for an ineffectual team they had a right to be angry.Behind much of the mob was the owner of the refugee facilities. A wealthy business named Ernest Wartburg had opened the doors of his haven in exchange for a hefty fee. With dinosaurs still roaming the globe, and seeing no other options, the citizens were forced to pay Wartburg in exchange for his sanctuary.Although Wartburg (who functioned more like a lord then an executive) was unpopular, the people had no other choice then to submit to his tax. He himself distilled blame for the circumstances on the dino team and fueled the hate brewing among the populous. Everyone had a common enemy in the alien invaders but their involvement was often put aside in favor of accusing the dino team. The people were angry, and it made more sense to direct that at an individual’s incompetence then a foreign invader they could not hope to fight. In the meantime, the alien conquest had claimed almost the entirety of the planet. Unlike the dino team, ADU had still maintained some degree of support. While their effort was valiant; the addition of the Dinosaurs was pushing them over the edge. The dinosaurs were Josh Thunder’s responsibility and his failures meant ADU was falling behind. Blame continued to be placed on Hertz and his teammates. As the dinosaurs became more numerous, more energy was directed toward there containment. With the dinosaurs fighting for the aliens the invaders gained ground. Not because they were stronger but because public support for the dino team was so lowIt was clear that the dinosaurs where not being controlled. Unlike their mutant ancestors, they were not susceptible to some king or alpha male. Instead, these were simply made beasts that the aliens allowed to roam free. They were made to create chaos well the invaders reaped the benefits of the lush planet.ADU could not afford to focus on both the alien conquest and the second dino attack. That was Hertz’s job. The faraway frozen tracking station was among the only locations that were safe from dinosaur attack. From this sanctuary, he and Naomi could observe the movements of the reptiles across the globe by following their unique genetic trail. Most of the time, that meant looking at an blank, black screen. It was incredibly boring and he felt like he was not accomplishing anything. There was a time when that would have bothered him but now he truly did not give a . For months, his work had deprived him of any relationship with his wife. Their honeymoon had been short and sweat but since then circumstances and created a barrier between them. Although many would consider work at the Siberian tracking post punishment, Hertz considered it a vacation.Naomi had turned the heater on high. It was cozy in the Quonset as the arctic snow blew above them. Hertz had checked the computer and reports indicated that the weather would clear up soon. The climate was unforgiving and desolate and the two had been packed inside for the last few days. To spite the temperature, Hertz promised himself he would take Naomi out for a ride latter. There was a vista a few kilometers away that overlooked a stunning frozen forest. Considering the lack of radar activity, Hertz assumed they would have at least a few hours to watch the arctic foxes as they cavorted in the snow.Naomi walked up behind him. She had allowed her usually perfect afro to disappear during their isolation. Hertz did not mind, she still kept her hair up but she looked as beautiful as she did the day they first met. She now ware a pink parka with fur lining, in her hands she carried two cups of hot chocolate.“Thank you.” Said Hertz as he took the cup and blew the froth from the top.“What make you think it’s for you?” smiled Naomi as she handed him the cup, “Don’t you think I have anything better to do then make you a drink?”Hertz looked around the small Quonset then outside at the blizzard surrounding them. It lacked many comforts that most people would expect but it still felt like a home.“I’m sorry. I did not occur to me how busy you must be,” Said Hertz with a grin. He looked over his shoulder at the dwelling, “There certainly is a lot to do around here.”“Do you want to watch a movie or something?” inquired Naomi as she pointed at the small television in the corner. “It’s a blizzard outside, you won’t be getting any readings anyway.”The view screen continued to be blank. “Gee,” said Hertz sarcastically. “I might miss something important.” He turned off the beach boys music playing on the speakers and strolled across the room to the overstuffed couch sitting in the corner. Naomi curled up under a blanket while Hertz shifted threw the DVD’s in their collection.“What are you in the mood for honey?” he asked. “the Thing or the Shining?”“Charlie, are movies set in the cold the only ones you brought? I want to watch something that makes me feel warm.” Sighed Naomi. “That last thing I want is nightmares about you being an alien or coming at me with an axe.”“Fair enough,” He chuckled. “Days of our lives then?”Naomi had opted to bring with her the first five decades of the soup opera. If they were to watch the entire series it would take them over a year. Since the two were currently snowed in at a remote Siberian ice station it seemed like the only appropriate endeavor. After all, what else were they going to do? For the last month, Hertz had made little ground tracking dinosaurs. It might be a faulty connection but he was in no hurry to fix it. He was going to spend time with his wife if it was the last thing he did.Hertz stuck the DVD into the player and snuggled up close to Naomi. He took a sip of his hot chocolate as she rested her head against his shoulder."Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives."Hertz and Naomi smiled as the hour glass graphic appeared on screen. In contrast to the harsh cold outside the episode opened with a lush island paradise. The characters of John and Marlena appeared and confronted a figure that Hertz fully expected to see again.“Ha!” exclaimed Hertz with excitement. “I knew Tony would not stay dead!”“You’re getting really into this aren’t you?” said Naomi with a grin. “Tony’s died at least ten times now. No one ever stays dead in this show.”“But to think!” gasped Hertz. “Stefano would imprison Tony, his own son, on this island for 20 years while his cousin gets plastic surgery to look like Tony and goes on a killing spree! Stefano DiMera is truly is the embodiment of evil!”Naomi took another sip of her beverage. “You’re forgetting Charlie that Stefano is not really Tony’s Dad. He’s manipulating Andre to become Tony’s evil twin so he can frame one of his enemies. Stefano is not really Tony’s father, but he is still the matriarch of the DiMera crime family!”“They have to get him off that island.” muttered Hertz. “Or else Andre will continue to frame him. His entire family will be destroyed!”“But listen!” said Naomi with excitement. “He does’t want to leave the island!”“What! Why?” said Hertz as he turned his attention back to the television. It was an intense moment and he could not afford to miss a single detail. The radio operator responded with shock when it was revealed that Tony would not return to civilization until Stefano was dead. It was a surprising turn of events that he never could have anticipated.“Wait?” interrupted Hertz. “Does Tony not know Stefano isn’t his real father?”“Quite!” hissed Naomi. “It’s Anna.”Hertz turned to Naomi in bewilderment “Who’s Anna?”“She’s his wife!” replied Naomi quickly. She did not want to miss a word. Just as love was about to convince Tony to leave the island Anna pulled out a gun and pointed it at him. They both gasped. Naomi put her hands over her mouth and Hertz drew her close.“She does not think he’s the real Tony.” Whispered Hertz, “She thinks it’s Andre.”“He won’t be able to answer her questions ether.” agreed Naomi. “that was over 20 years ago!”He didn’t. Tony could not remember the answers to any of Anna’s questions and he sealed his fate.Anna said “I’m so afraid this is the only one thing I can do.” With trembling hands she raised her gun at Tony’s chest. The episode ended there. Hertz whipped out the remote control and rushed to play the next episode. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Naomi smiling at him.He raised his eyebrow. “What?”“Nothing,” she sighed. “I just love how hard you try to like the things I like.”“Oh, I’m not trying.” Replied Hertz as he put down the remote. “I do like the show. Do you think I would watch two years of content if I did not enjoy it?”Naomi said nothing.“I’ll admit I was skeptical at first,” Said Hertz, “I wanted to make you happy. I’ve just learned to really like it and that’s the truth.”“That’s sweat Charlie.” Breathed Naomi as she pulled closer to him, Hertz smiled and rubbed her back.He leaned back. “It’s times like this when I’m happy you decided to come with me. Just sitting here you know? Not talking or doing anything, just being together. It’s refreshing after being married to my work for so long.”“Gosh, Charlie,” smirked Naomi “you sound more like a Hallmark card every day.”“I'll try,” chucked Hertz as he continued to rub her back. He reached his arm around and looked at his watch. “Wow, look at the time. You must be getting hungry.”“A little I suppose,” Shrugged Naomi, “Are you thinking about dinner?”“I could be,” Replied Hertz. “I’ll heat up the stove and we could watch another episode.”The radio technician dug himself out from the layers of blankets and strolled over to the stove on the far side of the Quonset. It was a gas stove and he knelt down to check that the pilot light had not blown out.“,” Muttered Hertz. “The flame is out. The wind outside must have quenched it. Naomi, do you want to toss me that matchbook?” The box flew across the room and Hertz caught it left handed. Striking the match, he bent down and held it to the nozzle.“Is there a problem?” asked Naomi as she rose from the coach. She walked over wrapped in a blanket and investigated the stove.“It looks like the gas is not working.” She said. “Do you think the storm is causing problems?“No.” said Hertz. “We have backups and a lot of fail safes. This outpost is designed to function perfectly no matter how bad the weather outside is.”Then the lights went out. The entire shelter was cast into a cold darkness. The only source of light came from the white blizzard outside the window. Naomi raised her eyebrow and crossed her arms and Hertz responded by raising he finger and daring her to say something.Eventually Hertz could no longer keep a serious face and ended muttering a quiet curse.“Looks like we lost power,” Said Naomi when she looked around the dark shelter.“Thanks’ Naomi,” Said Hertz as he rolled his eyes. “I’m glad you’re here to tell me these things.”“I do what I can.” Laughed Naomi, “Come on, you got to admit that was a little funny.”“I suppose,” Submitted Hertz, “I’m just going to have to go out and fix it.”“Just wait till the storm is over.” Said Naomi. “I’m sure we can keep warm for a while. It will be easier when you can see clearly outside.”“I would.” Said Hertz as he walked over to the closet and pulled on some snow pants. “But the weather says this blizzard will go through Thursday. That’s four days without power, gas, or heat.” He put on a blue parka and pulled on some winter boots. “I’ll be right back. Just hang tight and let me know if the power comes back on.”Naomi walked over and kissed him he responded with a kiss of his own. “We’ll watch the next episode when I get back okay? I’ll put on a roast and we’re have a fun filled evening of Days of our Lives.”Hertz opened the heavy metal dour and stepped out into the antechamber. He waved to Naomi threw the window as she called for him to hurry back. Hertz winked and stepped outside into the blizzard.

The cold should not have surprised him but it did. To spite his layers of warm clothing the ice found its way inside his coat. It was difficult to stand and he felt around for the rope that he had lain out earlier. When visibility was so small he needed to rely on the line to lead him to the Quonset’s electrical box.

The generator was about 30 meters from the Quonset. The designers explained that it was to prevent damage to the building in the event of a catastrophic malfunction. Hertz was convinced it was just to cause as much of an inconvenience to the resident as possible.

The gas line had a similar set up. In flowed threw a 2 inch pipe that ran along the ground. A storage tank was a safe distance from both the generator and the building and Hertz planned to check it out on the way back. His priority was to get the heat back on so Naomi would have to experience as little discomfort as possible.

Charlie “Hertz” put one hand in front of the other making slow progress across the tundra. The wind did not help matters and he frequently had to recover from being pushed to the ground. The cord was his only source of direction and he trusted that it would lead him in the right direction.A gust of ice and snow once again pushed him to the ground. He recovered his balance and rose to see the shadow of the Quonset generator in front of him. He had made himself about two thirds of the way and it was only a few meters away. The end of the line was usually wrapped around the corner of a chain-link fence surrounding the power generator but as Hertz made his way closer he notice the knot was not in it’s usually location. It was in the hands of a man.

Hertz paused and checked to see if he was seeing things clearly. He was close enough to the figure to observe he was standing erect. A gust of cold wind blew again and he had brief window to see that the stranger was warring a gasmask. Hertz called out but the figure did not respondAlthough his face was hidden he got the impression the figure smiled. From beneath his heavy body armor he pulled out a small box which he slowly opened. He paused a moment to look at Hertz before casually letting go off the guideline. The end disappeared into the wind and the rope was yanked out of the radio technician’s hand. Hertz took to the ground to prevent himself from being swept away and the gas-masked figure pushed the button.

The outpost behind him exploded. A fiery blast forced Hertz forward as the Quonset was consumed in a blinding blast. Fire and debris shot every direction and were carried across the tundra by the harsh Siberian winds. Smoking shrapnel touched down where Hertz lay and the thundering boom nearly overloaded his hearing adds.

He rolled over and screamed as the building was consumed by the inferno. The entire Quonset had been leveled in the blast and it continued to burst out fireballs of death and destruction.

“NAOMI!” shouted Hertz in anguish. Another thunderous blast knocked him backward. “NAOMI!”

It was impossible to survive but that did not stop Hertz from attempted to rush forward. The heat hit his face like a wall and a third blast pushed him backwards. He screamed her name again and again but there was nothing he could do. She was gone.

Tears streamed down his face and quickly froze. He whipped his eyes until the world around him was a burly swirl of white. Blatant against the white background was orange ball of fire that had consumed his wife, the hot and cold sensation rushed around him and he tumbled to the ground in torment. She was dead she was dead she was dead. It was all that could run threw his mind as he stared into the horrible destruction. It was impossible to comprehend that she could be blown away so suddenly. Everything ounce of his being wanted to believe she was still alive but he knew the truth.

“You probably could have stopped me,” Said a soft voice above the wind, “I took my time you know. I was definitely in reach.”

Hertz could barely turn to face the gas masked stranger behind him. All he could do was look in anguish at the burning Quonset where he and Naomi had once live. “You killed her!” moaned Hertz. “You killed my wife you son of a !”

The figure in the gas masked moved out from behind Hertz and knelt down in front of his face. It was a bold taunt as he placed himself in reach of the widower. The mask was cloudy and monstrous and he could vaguely see what he guessed was a pair of eyes behind the red visor.

Hertz could not even bare to attack the man. Everything felt meaningless as his entire world had been violently blown away. All he could do was bury his face in his hands while his tears froze to his checks.

“You !” he wailed as he pounded his hands into the harsh Siberian snow, “She dead!”

The man in the gasmask abruptly stood up. He turned to the carnage burning behind him and then at the distraught agent huddled in the snow. Hertz continued to cry and moan Naomi’s name as the wind swept across the tundra.

“Yes Mr. Shultz.” He said, referring to Charlie “Hertz’s” last name. “She is. It was not my decision so you can hardly blame me. It was simply what needed to be done to get your attention.” He knelt down and lifted Hertz’s chin so the two were face to mask. “Now please stop crying. It’s starting to annoy. I assure you there are plenty more where she came from.”

Hertz screamed and attempted to land a blow but the gas masked figure dodged and responded with a punch of his own. It was powerful and directed at the radio technician’s face. Hertz was knocked backwards into the snow clutching a bleeding lip.

“I probably deserved that.” Muttered the gas masked man darkly. “Don’t make this harder on yourself. I’m not allowed to kill you Mr. Shultz but I guarantee you that I can make things very painful.” he pointed a gloved hand at the burning Quonset. “But this pain is only the tip of the iceberg. This is only the beginning.”

“Why?” lamented Hertz. “What did she ever do? Naomi never made any enemies why would you want to kill her?”

“Because Naomi Carver was disposable,” Said the man. “My employer informed me that what we do must never be known to those outside the corporation. He had no plans for Naomi and her presence in his compound would only create a distraction for you. I admit, it’s a shame, she was a beautiful woman, but keeping her alive would only create an unpredictable variable.”

Everything the man in the gasmask said was undoubtedly important. If the love of Hertz’s life had not jest been murdered he might have paid closer attention but at the moment all he could think about were her last moments. She had probably sat down on the couch to finish her hot chocolate. She would have pulled a blanket around herself and waited for him to return. Then, there would be a sudden fireball and she would scream.

“Who are you?” whispered Hertz. His lip was bleeding from the punch and his eyes were teary and red. His senses were failing him and his hands were going numb.

“I am Eius Draco” said the figure in the gas mask. Even threw the filters of his helmet Hertz could hear a smidge of an Irish accent. His tenor voice spoke in a refined and cultured manner that was almost pleasant. Even with the stranger’s elegance and charisma he still radiated a cold sadistic evil.“I work for a man who calls himself the Englishmen,” Continued Eius Draco. “He has been planning for this day for years. The pieces were set in motion years ago and you wife’s death marks the starting point for his…project.”

Hertz had heard mention of the Englishmen before. Back in 2010 an agent of blacktron had broken into his home seeking an encrypted disk. The disk had apparently been stolen from the laboratory of XERRD and contained information about the dino attack later that year. By the time he discovered the truth the agent had broken into his home with intent to kill him and steal the file. His life was only spared thanks to the intervention of Agent Trace. The Blacktron agent had worked for the Englishmen. Hertz distinctly remembered that fact, a friend of his had also met a representative of the Englishmen back in December. The description matched the man who stood before him now.

“You are going to help him Mr. Shultz.” Said Eius Draco, “Mrs. Shultz’s death was to demonstrate what we are capable of.”“Why would I help you?” groaned Hertz, “What more could you possibly do to me?”

“Plenty more,” Said Eius Draco, Hertz could not see his face but he imagined a sadistic smile speeding across the man’s face. “We have agents in XERRD Mr Shultz. All the work that your friends Solomon and Matthew did will be destroyed unless you do as we say. They will be outcasts Mr. Shultz, lepers, pathetic figures cast out to the angry masses. The Englishmen will make the people hate them again, he demonize them and make them the monsters that the people want them to be. They will suffer and you will have to watch knowing you could have prevented their pain. That will be the price if you do not co-operate.”

The fairy wreckage of the Quonset still burn. The sparks danced as the arctic wind blew across the tundra. Hertz felt cold but it was not from the temperature, it was from the sense of utter loss the now consumed him.

“What do you want from me?” said Hertz quietly. His tears now formed icy channels down his checks. These people had killed his wife, only he could stop them from destroying the others he cared about.

“You’ll have to speak with the Englishman himself if you want that answer,” Said Eius Draco. He held out a gloved hand. “Allow me to help you up.”Hertz was too tired to fire off some threat or insult. All he could do was gaze at the gas-masked man with a burning hatred. The audacity to offer a man a hand after killing his wife! With a glair that was colder than the icy tundra and more violent than the burning Quonset he lifted himself of the ground.“I’m going to have to ask you to put this on Mr. Shultz. Don’t make me force.” Hertz was handed a hood which he accepted. Giving him one last loathsome glare he pulled it over his head.

“The Englishmen will speak with you on the way,” Said Eius Draco as he guided Hertz across the wasteland, “He’s been watching of course.”“He’s here?” said Hertz in surprise. He spun his head frantically in such of the killer but obviously he could see nothing while wearing the hood.“Indeed.” Replied Eius Draco with a hint of amusement, “He opted to remain in the vehicle well I preformed the work outside. He does not wish to stand out in the cold without a good reason.”

Hertz glowered. This man had not even bothered to watch as Naomi was murdered. The death of Hertz’s wife was hardly worth his time. Instead he waited in the warm like some tourist on a holiday.

“The Englishmen make many precautions Mr. Shultz,” Continued the Englishmen, “You will find he is a very cautious individual. Therefore, I hope you can forgive him for requesting I do this.”

Before Hertz could reply a hypodermic needle pierced his neck. The world inside his hood became distorted and surreal and his eyes rolled backwards. After some flailing of his arms he experienced a sensation of falling before everything went black.

But then in the blackness, an angry fire burst to life.

OOC: Dang it, that guy, your speech was more eloquent than mine. I have feels now. I hope we can collaborate again some time in the future. (And as for your spelling, it was consistent enough that we never had to guess what you meant. Honestly, I stopped noticing it after the first couple months :P)And it's true, now that you point it out, that avmatoran is probably among the most dedicated players this RPG has had. Kudos, my friend. Edited by Jackson Lake

OOC: By the skin on our teeth, Benton Kabrinsky, Atton Rand, Jackson Lake, and a surprise post from that guy from that show have made it in. And now, here we are... midnight, December 21, 2012, forever an important date of Dino Attack RPG history. I've made sure that I did some necessary things today. I finally finished the Rock Raiders PC game. Five minutes to midnight, I began listening to Majora's Mask "Final Hours". And now, I post the final post of Dino Attack RPG. This is it. It's been fun, guys.I might recommend reading this next post while listening to "One Day" by Hans Zimmer.IC:January 1, 20116:00 AMWaves crashed upon the sand, and a gentle breeze carried the voices of gulls across the water to Peter Abody's ears. It had been a beautiful night on LEGO Island, but here on Adventurers' Island, everything felt so calm and serene in comparison to the excitement of the New Year's Eve party. The tranquility had allowed Peter to reflect upon recent events. The last message from the ATLANTIS Deep Sea Salvage Crew claimed that they were closer than ever to finding the lost city at last, but no news had been heard from the divers since they passed through the Portal of Atlantis. The war in Castle Cove between the Lion Knights and the Dragon Knights continued in full force. Although reconstruction was going smoothly, the crime rate in LEGO City had risen since 2009, causing some trouble for the police department. Even worse, there were reports from various sources around the galaxy that a fleet of alien invaders were approaching the LEGO System.Even after the end of the Dino Attack war, there was still much to worry about in the LEGO Universe. It seemed there would be no rest to conflict between opposing factions, and for many, the Dino Attack had shaken the belief that such factions could be easily divided into "good" and "evil", for the truth was far more complicated than that. But despite it all, this was a place where Peter could escape his concerns. Here on Adventurers' Island, there was no strife. With the expulsion of Maelstrom from the Temple of Creation, the barren wasteland left by the destructive energies was being repopulated once more. The Mutant Dino war was over, leaving the local dinosaurs free to continue nature's circle of life. The Islanders and the Adventurers had no quarrels with one another, and with Sam Sinister going on a pharaoh's quest, there would be no conflict. All was at peace.Peter closed his eyes and took in a long breath of fresh sea air as he listened to the sounds of waves. He heard footsteps in the sand, and when he opened his eyes once again, Peter saw Greybeard standing beside him."Aye," sighed the old, grizzled pirate. "T' a buccaneer such as meself, thar be nothin' quite like th' sea. T' a pirate, th' sea be freedom... th' sea be life.""I'm glad you could come," grinned Peter. "LEGO Island isn't too far from here. I stayed until midnight to join in the 'HAPPY NEW YEAR!', and then I took the first helicopter to Adventurers' Island. Being my old home, LEGO Island will always hold a special place in my Creative Spark... but I have to say, finally seeing Adventurers' Island in peacetime, this place is definitely something special."Greybeard nodded. "Reminds me a bit o' home. Th' Phanta Sea certainly carries th' same air o' adventure an' mystery that make th' Tropical Seas th' best place on th' entire planet, an' this island... I can smell th' hordes o' treasure that would make King Kahuka jealous. Aye, it be a pirate's life, me lad... it be a shame that I must give it all away.""What?" blinked Peter in surprise.Greybeard sighed and shook his head. "I be a grandfather now, I suppose, an' I must settle down t' take care o' Mary Rose." He gestured inland to the edge of the jungle, where the little girl slept comfortably as a T-Rex stood protectively over her. "It be somethin' I had ne'er thought o' before, but in my decision t' take th' girl under me wing, I must bid farewell t' th' sea. It be... rath'r bitt'rsweet fer me. I do love her, but I be missin' th' sea."Peter patted Greybeard's shoulder, to comfort the old pirate. "Well, you can always take a ferry or bring Mary on a cruise or something. Take her to the beach every now and then so you never truly have to say goodbye to the sea.""Aye," Greybeard nodded half-heartedly.Peter glanced around, as though he was making sure that no one was listening, and then leaned in closely. "I personally would not approve of this," he whispered, "and don't tell the royal nations I said this, or else Dash Justice will never let me live it down, but... I suppose, once she's old enough, there's nothing to stop you from training her to be a pirate. Most girls her age dream of growing up to become princesses... maybe her dream is to become a swashbuckling adventurer like you."Greybeard beamed at that prospect. He gestured towards the T-Rex and inquired, "Now, I don't have t' worry about th' big lizard o'er thar, says ye?"Peter nodded to the T-Rex, who nodded back. "Don't worry," grinned Peter, "Chompy won't let anything on this island lay a tooth or a claw on her."Peter's expression turned more solemn as he remembered his reuniting with his old T-Rex friend. Chompy was overjoyed to see him, but when Peter delivered the sad news of Rex's passing... Chompy's cynical attitude let nothing get him down, and his duties as alpha male meant that he could never show any weakness, but Peter could tell that Chompy secretly mourned the loss of his brother."Thinkin' o' Rex?"Sighing, Peter nodded grimly. "He was a good man. I'm going to miss him. I heard that they're going to open a museum dedicated to the Dino Attack, and Dr. Cyborg was planning on a special tribute in the memory of Rex.""We all miss 'im," murmured Greybeard. "Th' Dino Attack be a long war, an' now that it be over, wi' so many great men like Rex... Joseph Race... Robert Batrick... havin' given them lives t' save th' rest o' us... nothin' be ev'r be th' same, says I. So much be chang'd. O'er th' past few years, I be gone from a pirate t' a racer t' a freedom fighter... t' a grandfather. Th' LEGO world may rebuild, but only a fool be sayin' that all be as it once be. Nay... ev'rythin' be chang'd.""I still can't believe that... it's over," Peter whispered incredulously. "It might have only been eight months, but it felt like nearly eight years. And now, for the first time... for the first time, I can walk down the street without fear of being attacked by a Mutant Lizard. With Evil Ogel's recent departure from LEGO Planet and Dr. Inferno finally behind bars, there might not even be a need for Alpha Team anymore. It's... a very peculiar feeling. There will always be war and conflict... you needn't look farther than Castle Cove... but for once, I might very well face the prospect of peace... something I have not known for so long. For the first time since 2004, I might have no battle to fight.""It must be hard t' adjust t' peacetime society again," mused Greybeard, "much like a sealegged scallywag such as meself t' find meself rooted on land.""Yes," nodded Peter. "Exactly."They were both silent for a moment."Now that Chompy is the alpha male of Adventurers' Island," murmured Peter, "he is busy with his duties to his pack. Sam Throramebi's heading back out into space soon. We'll all keep in touch with one another... maybe have a reunion every so often..." Peter sighed. "Is this the end?""Look, me hearty." Greybeard gestured out towards the ocean. Peter did as he was told, and saw the first rays of the sun light up the sky over the water: sunrise on Adventurers' Island."It's beautiful," whispered Peter."Th' end?" repeated Greybeard. "This be th' end... o' this chapter o' our lives. Before us lies th' vast possibilities o' th' future... an' as th' new year begins, thus we turn th' page t' th' next chapter o' our lives, says I."Peter nodded in response."Aft'r all," continued Greybeard, "th' Dino Attack be o'er, an' ye be findin' yerself an' yer ol' hearties chartin' separate courses an' sailin' t' different seas. But new relations can still blossom... anythin' new about that Shannon lass?"Peter grinned, raising a hand to conceal his blush. "She... kissed me at the last party we went to together. I think that, after fighting Ogel's zombies and Dr. Rex's dinosaurs, I should have the courage to pursue a serious relationship with her. No more incidents like senior year... no, this time, I'm taking her out on a date.""Good man!" chuckled Greybeard. His face turned serious again. "An' one more thing... I know ye talk'd sev'ral times about yer father. Do ye think ye'll see him again?"Peter turned serious as well. Sighing, he stared out into the sunrise again and was silent for a moment. Then, at last, he murmured, "I don't. After all these years, with no news on my father's status, I don't even know if he's still alive after all this time. And if he is... well, it's a fool's hope to hope that we'll ever meet again.""I be sorry," whispered Greybeard.Peter locked eyes with Greybeard. "Don't worry," smiled Peter. "I'll always keep him alive in my heart. And if it makes you feel any better about it... these past few months, you've been like a father to me. I'll always miss him, but I'm glad that my life, no matter how dark or bleak the battles have been, has left me with a family I will always have, dad."Placing his hand on Peter's shoulder, Greybeard smiled. "Then ye have me blessin' t' make th' best ye can possibly make o' yer life, son. Just imagine."Like father and son, Peter Abody and Grisbarba L. Pirata togther stared out into the sunrise over Adventurers' Island, a truly beautiful sight. Neither of them knew what the future had in store for them. What seemed like the longest chapter in their lives yet had finally ended. But Greybeard was right. So many lives had been changed forever, and nothing would ever be the same again. As the sun rose on the first day of 2011, a brand new year to start anew after the Dino Attack apocalypse of 2010, this was not the end.It is a new beginning.OOC:On July 1, 2005, a player from Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG received approval from Hahli Husky to start his own RPG based on the brand-new Dino Attack line. There was no way that he could have possibly known that, one day, he would consider this relatively-obscure RPG based on an unpopular LEGO line... to be his greatest accomplishment. It's been nearly seven and a half years. In that time, I've grown up and matured in many ways. This is visible in my writing, and you can see a vast yet gradual improvement over the course of Dino Attack RPG. Thanks to Dino Attack RPG, I've become a much better writer, and I do think that Dino Attack RPG is one of the things that inspired me to become a writer.Over the years, Dino Attack RPG has become my pride and joy. It started off as something that I merely did for fun but had no real commitment to. But, I suppose after the death of the Pirates RPG, my involvement with Dino Attack RPG became far more serious. I was determined not to let it suffer the same fate as Pirates RPG and Alpha Team RPG. However, I knew that all things had to end someday, so I came up with the idea of having a final battle to end the RPG, and it was met with players' approval. And it was around this time where Dino Attack RPG grew the beard. While I will always have fond memories of the early days with Kotua, Databoard, Rev Raptor, Zero, and the others, Dino Attack RPG finally had a goal to strive for, and that was the final battle. This brought about a change where Dino Attack RPG was no longer the random and unrelated adventures of various individuals that happened to take place in the Dino Attack. Instead, it was developing into the epic tale of a team to end the Dino Attack for once and for all, tying together the LEGO Universe and all our favorite themes in a truly unforgettable journey. But what truly matters about Dino Attack RPG... is you guys. Dino Attack RPG could never possibly have been what it is today if it were not a multiplayer RPG. This is not my story. This is our story. I could not have dreamed of doing it without you guys. You were the people I was thinking about when I committed myself to sticking with Dino Attack RPG until the end. You were the people I was thinking about when I was trying to make Dino Attack RPG the best experience it could possibly be.Years from now, Dino Attack RPG will fall into obscurity. Less than a dozen players are still active, and time will take its toll. But I can only hope that you guys will never forget the Dino Attack. I hope that it will continue to follow you and remain with you for the rest of your lives. I hope to see more writing from you guys, kindled by the time you spent here, joined together in one of the greatest experiences of our lives to this point. And I hope that this is not goodbye. Whether it's deviantART or Steam or everybody's favorite forbidden video-hosting site, I hope we stay in contact with each other, like old school buddies who have graduated and gone to separate colleges.TakunuvaC01 and Jackson Lake... you two have stuck around the longest. Even if you might have taken a couple breaks during your stay here, in the end, you kept coming back, and that really means a lot to me. You both had great Pratchett-influenced writing styles, and your stories were always engaging, from Magma's Alpha Team operations to Kat's quest of self-discovery. Being senior members of Dino Attack RPG, you were looked up to by your fellow players, and they couldn't have had better role models.Atton Rand... you and I might not always see eye-to-eye, especially regarding themes such as realism. However, you were one of several players who kept Dino Attack RPG alive during its dark age, the time between the Kotua crisis and the battle for the Power Station, and you have my eternal gratitude for that. Your writings have always offered a unique perspective on Dino Attack RPG, and I always enjoy a Steam chat.Benton Kabrinsky... your appearances these last few months were so few and far between that I was unsure about whether or not you'd stick with us to the end. But you did, and I am definitely glad to see that commitment in you. Thanks!Andrewnuva199 and Brikman McStudz... your love for LEGO lore, optimistic yet down-to-earth attitude, and lovably genre-savvy cast of lampshade hangers made both of you into more-than-welcome additions to Dino Attack RPG's writers. Whenever I see a new post from either of you guys, I can always count on enjoying reading it. And on more than one occasion, Andrewnuva, you've seemed like the voice of reason among the rest of us lunatics.that guy from that show... I must admit, when you first joined, I did not know what to think. Dust was definitely a unique addition to the cast, and I could tell that you had big plans, but I was unsure whether or not Dino Attack RPG was the right place for either of them. But as the days passed by, I quickly realized that you are possibly the greatest character writer in all of Dino Attack RPG's long run. The complex characterizations of Dust, Pharisee, Koplowitz, and others made them feel like they were the most real. You took Dust, who could have easily been as unlikeable as Duke or Snake, and made him into one of the most memorable and enjoyable characters. I hope you continue to write in the future.avmatoran... you are our youngest member, and you were certainly brave to join Dino Attack RPG so late in the game. While I'm afraid that we might not have gotten off on the right foot together, I quickly learned to admire your undeniable enthusiasm and dedication for Dino Attack RPG. Thanks for being there with us.Kotua in Space and Chronicler of Ko-Koro... you were the greatest friends any LEGO RPGer could have asked for back in 2004-2005. You two were definitely an unforgettable part of the early Dino Attack RPG experience.Victor Draven... if it wasn't for you, none of this would have happened. You were my first BZPower friend, and while you have long ago outgrown LEGO and BZPower and you will probably never read this... thanks."One last embrace... before we say goodbye... until we meet again."Thank you. Thank you all... for everything.- PeabodySam, Dino Attack RPG host (2005-2012)
