I think you're thinking of Sugar Rush, Rumpelstiltskin's character. My speedstress was just called Rush.
No, Sugah's just Darkness's cuddly-wuddly name for Rush... :lookaround: *blatantly lies to cover up errors*IC: "Waterworks? Let me guess, you thought Silvee was alive 'cause of the fragment within me I've been using to replace him .. you know, fill the void of a heroic equal his absence created. But I couldn't sense him at all after those alien fireworks, so the real him... he's gone. Blammo. Why the heck didn't you save him, without him my life lacks purpose! You screwed all my evil plans, my life is ruined thanks to you ditching him up there you flo- HOLY CR" Darkess's cuss was cut off as Fellwyd reached him unobstructed (Darkness shared the "overtly long evil dialogue" flaw with other villians) and tore into him: at first Darkness's body reacted as any normal body should to being torn apart, but the damaged tissue quickly returned into a liquid-solid matter form. This gooey, pure black substance was like fighting Playdough©: it just flowed and squished, torn from his body to seemingly little effect despite Darkness's actions suggesting it at least caused extreme pain in the process."Get 'offa me you freak!" he cried with a fair amount of irony, slugging Fellwyd in the face with surprisingly force for a human and enough to dislodge him. Leaping to his feet the dark psychic launched a blast at Fellwyd before rushing fowards with wristblade ready to swing: but not towards Fellwyd. Darkness had been stewing on Silver's death for an entire month, and had plenty of time to try and direct blame... but now he had an actual outlet and was going to hold Sluice wholly responsible (the fact he knew Silver had fancied Sluice was just a bonus final vengence). "You're dead for taking my future from me!" he fumed, rushing towards the sobbing heroine only to seize up in place, clutching his skull."Leave. Her. Be." Mastermind hissed, assaulting the other psychic entirely on a mental plane and freezing his progress. Darkness screamed then turned in place to face Mastermind, "pushing" back in mental combat. While it was not very specatucular in the real world, the pair become very much occupied in their minds essentially disabling the pair of them as they fought... which also left BOTH open to be attacked. Darkness seemed quite obviously evil and unhinged, but Mastermind had just helped Sluice and possibly saved her skin... though if he was really alinged with Darkness, why would he care? Abyss and Fellwyd had nothing but mistreated him, he owed them little so why would he help to begin with? Questions were being answered only to open far more confusing ones...Except for Fellwyd, who without a communicator would probably be confused by pretty much anything at this point. IC(Fellwyd): The alien had fought Mastermind because it had, for a time, been his job - Mastermind had been a target, and Fellwyd had been instructed to engage the target in combat at a given time, and later to restrain the target. This he had done, but there had always been the implication that, when a new being came into the mix, the orders regarding Mastermind were likely to change. With reception of orders quite impossible, the matter was down to his own judgment, and he saw Mastermind, in his own way, engaging an unstable, destructive element in combat - as the alien had had violent contact with this same being, the new situation put Mastermind on the same 'side' as him.Bruised, battered and possessing in his mind the sort of clarity ordinarily reserved for hunting animals and serial killers, Fellwyd once again leapt upon Darkness. Empirical evidence suggested that this treatment could not kill the enemy, but it also backed up the notion that he could cause him no small amount of pain, and the alien soldier knew well the distraction that pain could provide in combat.

IC: Darkness let loose a string of foul Earthican obscenities as the alien tore into him without restraint once again, causing him to lose his mind-based duel with Mastermind and suffer quite a headache as a result. Trying to clobber Fellwyd away was failing miserably this time as he had gotten a much better grip, so Darkness unleashed a psychic blast point blank to seperate them: this achieved what Darkness had hoped for, but not entirely how he wanted it."YOU RIPPED OFF MY ARM YOU SICK ******!" he howled, the entirety of his left arm still in Fellwyd's grip and the substance that composed it almost screaming sickeningly now that it was seperate from the rest of him. Losing a limb was putting him in a good amount of agony, but unlike other supervillians Darkness could work with that bit more than most, and was still able to deflect Mastermind's wristblade with his own before unleashing a surge of eletrical-appearing psychic energy into the mutant. Uncharacteristicly this caused Mastermind to scream, dropping to his knees where Darkness promptly kicked him in the face before turning the lightninglike power to Fellwyd and blasting him with it. This "Dark Lightning" caused no psychical damage to the target, but put them in agonising pain for the duration: a psychic power supposedly unique to Darkness himself and one of his advantages. "Now... where the heck did you get that cloak?""..... i-it was on sale" Darkness seemed unapprecitive of Mastermind's humor, blasting him with the psychic lightning a second time."If you don't know, she will" he growled, reaching into Sluice's vulnerable mind and rumaging around, searching for the information he needed. After a few brief pauses to kick Mastermind back down into the ground when he tried to interfere and unleash another surge of lightning on Fellwyd (larger bursts each time as Fellwyd was pushing through the pain surprisingly fast), Darkness had found all the information he needed and he instantly recognised the truth... and that made him burst into laughter. It almost put him in tears, pushing Mastermind into the pavement with his foot until he regained his composure and smiled widely. "Oooooh, that is RICH. I don't know what's worse... that you managed to create such a ridicilous story, or that they believed it. How did you put it, Mastermind... time is up for this ridiculous cherade, wasn't it?" Mastermind glanced up at the words, eyes wide."You can't!""Can't I? Pyschics stealing the powers of other psychics? Stealing a heroes clothes and NOT killing him? Heck, a supervillian who DOESN'T try to do in superheroes at the very first oppotunity? You made it all up... all to try and hide what REALLY happened...""SILENCE!" Mastermind roared, managing enough energy to bury his wristblade deep within Darkness' chest. Darkness just rolled his eyes, completely unfazed (but in horrible pain) as he blasted Mastermind again."You never learn... but the cats out of the bag now. Sluice, you really wanted to see dear ol' Silver again didn't you?" Darkness blasted Mastermind in front of Sluice (it was possible she wasn't even aware of what was happening yet), zapping him with lightning again for good measure before pulling back the mutant's hood. Masterminds face was as mutated as the rest of him, two small ears on the top of his head as well as some kind of... organic tube connecting his head and torso, but he refused to face the aquakinetic. "LOOK AT HER AND SHOW HER THE TRUTH""N-No" Mastermind's refusal to face Sluice was met with another brutal shocking, before being dragged up by Darkness high enough that she should've been able to look him in the eye. Mastermind's appearance was completely mutated, completely unnatural... but the eyes were out of the place, looking like they didn't fit the body. And she'd seen these eyes before.... the deep brown was unmistakeable even after being hidden for so long: she knew them well and had seen them happy, sad, terrified, raging and other glances in her direction that defied explanation... but never with the deep shame they were projecting now. Those eyes were not those of a random supervillian...OOC: Now you know much of a dirty liar I am. Sorry :P

OOC: Drat, I didn't guess that part! :oOn another note I've drawn all 6 characters I've owned during this RPG's history; you can see them here!IC - Sluice @ Las VegasSilver...Through her tears Sluice had only noticed portions of what was going on around her, and half of those she noticed she was too despairing to fully comprehend. Fellwyd, Darkness and Mastermind had been engaged in some sort of three-way battle around her. A sharp static sensation fill the air in front of her; the sensation of kneeling close to Darkness' signature 'dark lightning' technique. Dust and dirt were launched with the impact of every psychic blast, showering her. She felt an itching in her brain as Darkness cavalierly probed it, claiming the information he sought. That brought her attention a little closer to reality and she lifted her head to see Mastermind drive his wristblade into Darkness' chest."You never learn... but the cats out of the bag now. Sluice, you really wanted to see dear ol' Silver again didn't you? LOOK AT HER AND SHOW HER THE TRUTH!""N-No" As Mastermind endured another shock of dark lightning the despair began to retreat from Sluice's mind, replaced by alarm. No matter if he was a villain she couldn't let Mastermind die. Darkness had already gotten away with far too much evil in his brief lifetime. The search for Silver had been hopeless, yes, but Sluice was realising that she still had a chance to do something significant here. Shakily she stood up, trying to stop crying and come to her senses, to get ready to fight again, despite all the misery and doubt within that urged otherwise. And then her gaze fell upon those shameful brown eyes.Silver...There were things that still didn't make sense, but nevertheless circumstances seemed a lot clearer than they had a moment ago. With that mental click of understanding Sluice was brought fully back to reality. After a brief, but significant gaze at Silver she looked up."... wh... why...""Why what? Why'd he hide it from you? Can't say I blame him, poor ugly freak. I'd be ashamed if I looked half as bad as that," laughed Darkness (his voice gurgled slightly as his chest wound continued to heal).Sluice sniffed, blinking away the last of her tears. "N-no... I was talking to you, Darkness. Why would you do this?""Stupid girl. Isn't it obvious? To cause you pain, why else!""But... but you've not done that at all," remarked Sluice, clenching her fists. She pushed the despair and doubt into the back of her mind, where she could feel the anger and hatred still bubbling - with great effort, she let some of it through - but only a bit. Enough to do what she needed. "You see, what you've done, Darkness, you've shown me that Silver is alive. You've given me hope. You've given me a reason to fight again you evil b******!"Sluice seized control of the scattered water left over from her skirmish earlier, and swinging her arms forwards as if throwing invisible spears (bodily movements helped her focus her powers) the puddles leapt up and propelled themselves toward Darkness, coalescing and becoming dozens and dozens of ice daggers...

Loadstone and Magneta shielded themselves behind a more metallic shield, though Magneta had to remagnetize Loadstone's magnaboard for him afterwards. After the smoke had cleared, Loadstone stepped up the the gaping hole in the ground. OOC: Anything stopping Omega, Omega Prime and/or Ozo from reaching Apep or is it just player inactivity? I wanna use my new character. :(IC(NPC) - X-Calibur @ Forest"I'd ask if you're ok but that's usually a silly thing to ask of healers," said X-Calibur, extending a hand to help Epsilon to his feet. He turned his head towards Loadstone. "You and Magneta had better lead the way to deflect any metallic projectiles; same as we were going through the forest. We're bound to encounter guards or more traps down there; we'll be lucky if it's not both."IC - Gadgeteer @ League JetThe brief aerial journey had been a quiet one; Viktor had never been one for idle small talk, Lone seemed to be the same way, and Whistler was keeping his eye on the two prisoners. At the controls a screen flashed with a message stating that they were approaching their intended destination; that destination being the Great Pacific Trash Vortex. Gadgeteer peered out of the viewscreens at the multicoloured expanse of ocean below them. Clogged with all manner of waste, even in his specialised Deep Sea Mode it was going to be tricky manoeuvring. Her employees might not be up to scratch but Lady Hexas could certainly pick a good location for a hideout.Gadgeteer turned to Lone. "We have arrived. Are you ready..?"OOC: As for Gadgeteer and Lone arriving at a dramatically crucial moment, I'm wondering if it'd be more fun for them to arrive at a dramatically inappropriate moment instead...

He had thought that he may not make it back, but put those aside, for now. "So, are we going to jump from here, or are we going to fly low, then jump?"

IC(NPC) - X-Calibur @ Forest"Sooner we get this done the better. They may know we're here, but we might be able to hit them before they can fully prepare themselves for us." X-Calibur waited for Magneta and Loadstone to enter the hatch, then began to clamber in himself, gesturing for the others to follow.IC - Gadgeteer @ League Jet"If you are sure that your armour can withstand the impact then we will jump from here. It will give us more depth. I will use my inbuilt Omega Radiation scanner to locate our allies." With a mental command, Viktor called upon that function, though at this distance the only superbeings it could currently detect were the two sitting on the League Jet. He realised he hadn't tested its maximum range - in fact he hadn't tested any of the new functions of his armoured battle suit. The thought didn't give Viktor much confidence, so he quashed it.He addressed Whistler. "The jet is currently set to circle this area on autopilot. Me or Lone can communicate with it if need be. Be ready in case we require a sudden pickup." He then looked at Romulus. "If you or Captain Code interfere with our mission in any way then consider that cheque of yours void." He doubted the mercenary had any thoughts of rebellion, but it was worth making the threat so that there was an extra person on-board with cause to restrain Captain Code in case he played up.Parting messages made, Gadgeteer marched toward the jet's side door and pulled it open. Bitterly cold air billowed in. He stared down at the littered waters below, made a final check that his armour's systems were all operating normally, then stomped forwards (running was impossible with his current added bulk) and jumped out of the jet...

OOC: At first I was waiting on Prime to confirm he was coming too. Then life stuff picked up. I hate September. The whole Fall setup, really.IC: It didn't take long for Omega and Prime to zoom across the rooftops, dodging the odd high building, bird or other super on the way, and arrive at the area of Grand Central Station. So far, so good, except for one little problem: There was no sign of any greater level of chaos than usual. Granted, at GCS it might be hard to tell if people were running from a supervillain or to a train, or whether they were screaming in fear or just 'get out of my way' in various, colorful, not-always-family-friendly manners, but the lack of any noticeable mummies was a hint. And who ever heard of a subtle one?"You suppose we're early?" Omega asked, glancing aside at Prime. "Maybe the crime's not due yet." He gestured at the big, round clock that helpfully displayed the time to people looking from just about any direction. A nice touch, he always thought. |H-D|NPC: When the explosion had gone off, Ultionis had done the only sensible thing a soldier could do and pulled the person nearest to him behind a nearby table. It wasn't much cover, granted, but it was the only thing within diving distance and they really didn't have time to run around the room. Now it was over, he stood up and glanced at the hole left behind. If by some miracle the enemy somehow hadn't realized they were here before, that just went out the window at terminal velocity. X-Calibur had the right idea, but it was worth voicing something else that had been nagging at him: "This might still be another trap. Fighting our way through a bunch of lethal obstacles just to end up sealed in a chamber full of poison gas sounds like exactly the kind of crazy we should expect." He paused, switching to infrared vision mode. It was unlikely the back entrance was lit. "Not that we've got a better idea. Just stay on your toes and be ready to run for the exit."(H-D)

IC: (Lone, Jumping into the deep)"It'll stand. Lets jump." Lone waited till Gadgeteer had jumped, "see ya on the other side" to Whistler, then ran forward, jumped, and started free-falling to the water, putting a extra layer of nanties around himself, just to be safe. Lone hit the water, and was jared by the impact, but was otherwise alright. "Were to now?" he said over the com link.

IC - Apep @ New YorkShe'd managed to lose the weirdo with the hoverboard, so Apep swung round to set herself back on the right course. She'd travelled in a complete loop and had to pass Grand Central Station again. However, rather than run across the roof this time she used a stream of paper to latch onto a large building, so that she simply swung by the station. She misjudged the required length of paper, though, and so anyone not bustling to catch a train might have seen what looked like an ancient Egyptian mummy soar past the windows.Shoot, thought Apep mid-swing, as she realised her mistake. Ah, nevermind. The people in there are commuters. They'll just dismiss the sight and carry on with their boring lives.IC(NPC) - X-Calibur @ Coalition Mine Hideout"Well if it's poison gas we're lucky we have a wind manipulator on our side," said X-Calibur, pointing to Skyra. He was trying to stay light-hearted, but he understood all too well the point Ultionis was making. The last of the group descended through the hatch. The tunnel that the group now stood in consisted of carved-out mud and rock for a distance of several feet, before suddenly becoming lined with wooden supports and metal panelling. Far too modern-looking to be an abandoned mine. The sunlight streaming through the hatch petered out here; ahead there was only darkness.... until Magneta stepped forwards cautiously and a number of ceiling lights flickered on welcomingly. There were sensors beneath the lights; walk underneath them and they would turn on. This meant that the group had ample lighting, but only where they stood. Up ahead was still a mystery.IC - Gadgeteer @ Pacific Trash VortexIt was like a bomb had gone off in the water when Gadgeteer impacted. After the initial shudder of impact (which his thick armour plating thankfully cushioned to the point of it being an uneasy rattle) there was a flurry of silver bubbles that surrounded him for several seconds. Then just as the water started to settle Lone landed close by, the noise of his landing travelling through the water as a pulse. Viktor noted that - apart from the sticky beads of his own sweat - he felt completely dry, so at least his armour was as watertight as he had designed it to be. For now.A pair of lamps upon the sides of Gadgeteer's head provided useful lighting in the dark and cluttered water. It allowed him to see Lone, and every piece of debris that drifted around them - from plastic bottles to animal carcasses - for a radius of twenty feet or so. Beyond that there seemed to be nothing but brown mist."Where to now?"Viktor checked the readings from his Omega Radiation scanner. He'd first read up on Omega Radiation years ago, in a scientific paper by one Dr. Blue. Having lived life as a mercenary who often fought superbeings it was only logical that Viktor try to learn more about them. He knew that Omega Radiation dissipates very quickly compared to other forms of radiation (which is why despite there being entire cities populated by superbeings its inhabitants don't all suffer from cancer); because of this, a superbeing only generates enough Omega Radiation to be noticeable on a scanner when their powers are in use. If none of their allies were using their powers then his scans would return nothing. However, his scanner had managed to locate a source of Omega Radiation. Just one, some distance below them and steadily descending. It could only be one of their allies or an agent of Hexas; either way, worth pursuing."This way." The rotors upon Gadgeteer's wrists and ankles whirred, forcing him down into the depths...OOC: It's Killer Mari he's detecting. If she hadn't kept up her cool psychic jellyfish thing then Saosin and the others would be two allies short. :P

OOC: So now we've got Silver, with six fingers, one of which Fellwyd broke because he was being irritating. Not a good first impression to make on a potentially valuable ally. Just goes to show that lizards can't handle appropriate social interaction at all.IC(Fellwyd): The first time the lightning attack came at him, the alien had tried to block with Darkness' severed arm. That didn't quite work, and the alien was hit with the full force of the attack. It was... If the alien had still had his tail, there was a good chance the intensity of the sensation would have triggered the muscular contraction meant to sever the tail if it was caught by a larger predator. The soldier had experienced worse pain in his career, but those causing it generally didn't retain the means to repeat it after the first try. As Fellwyd tried to struggle forward to continue his assault on Darkness, the attack hit no less than six additional times, each one very nearly immobilizing the alien on contact as his muscles, in reaction to the neural signal, seized up, causing the alien's body to flail about randomly for a few seconds. Each time, though, the alien regained control of his body, and marched forth to receive the next strike, each step bringing him closer to beating Darkness to death with his own arm. As far as he was concerned - especially with a non-functioning translator - the other two had ceased to exist, as neither was either attacking him or directly assisting in his efforts against Darkness. In those moments, the entire universe consisted of Fellwyd, Darkness, and the arm that dangled from the alien's clawed hand, occasionally twitching as it tried to reunite itself with its master. Finally, as the conversation reached its climax unobserved by the alien, and dozens of shards of ice flew at Darkness, Fellwyd shook off the last of the effects of the enemy's attack, and charged forth, bellowing like a wounded animal and brandishing the arm of his prey like a mighty club.

IC: By good fortune, Omega was not a commuter right now (though he didn't actually have a car - if he needed to get to Manhattan, he usually flew) and was no more distracted than usual when Apep swung into view. His musings on how precognition would be so useful for knowing if the trains would run on time were interrupted by the sight of a woman covered in bandages hastily making her escape, Spider-Man style. He tapped Prime. "Dude, you see that? I think we found her." He hovered outside to the rooftops, trying to keep a low profile. "Follow me. Discretely," said the pitch-black man with the glowing, firey orange corona. To his credit, after a brief zip through the air he did power down and crouch on a rooftop, observing Apep in human form. And fixing his hair. He never seemed to need to do that in Omega form.|H-D|NPC: Ultionis was glad he wasn't using night vision when he saw rectangular spots on the ceiling begin to heat up and realized the lights must have come on. If he had been, that would have been blindingly painful as well as just plain blinding. He'd been meaning to ask for a polarized lense upgrade, but apparently there was only so much you could do with a fabric armor mask. As it was, he just focused on the tunnel ahead, where the lights weren't coming on, to see if they had any company. And if so, if that company was within effective bullet range.(H-D)

Indeed! Remember how I claimed Mastermind was nothing but elborate misdirection? That claim itself was nothing but misdirection to get everyone off the scent of the obvious truth (come on, I wasn't gonna fool anyone for 5 seconds with a psychic with the same aura wearing the same cloak XD), and throwing Darkness in threw everyone off even further. Only Lord of Adders Black has known the truth from the start, since, um, he had to approve the plot. Thanks for keeping you lips sealed!
OOC: So now we've got Silver, with six fingers, one of which Fellwyd broke because he was being irritating. Not a good first impression to make on a potentially valuable ally. Just goes to show that lizards can't handle appropriate social interaction at all.
I actually just wanted to give Silver a good reason to be mad at his "replacement"... but I didn't actually expect you to break anything! Now I've got more material to deal with :evilgrin:Also, I apologise for not leaving any time for Sluice/Fellwyd to react to all that was happening, but if I did that post would've taken up about 2 or 3 more posts. Doing it all in one condensed quite a lot :)IC: Darkness had been estatic at the revelation: Silver was NOT dead, just ugly as sin now. That meant he could pick right back where he left himself and go back to ruining his good half's life, after of course revealing Silver's secret to the one person he was trying to hide it from... but she didn't take it as he expected she would. He expected more tears, screaming... he actually really hoped Silver would get slapped. But no, she didn't do that at all... she was directing everything at him instead? How unfair!"Nice try wi- GAH" Darkness's attempt to lift Silver up in the path of the daggers was thrawted when the mutant suddenly jerked his elbow backwards, connecting hard with the supervillian's crotch and resulting him being dropped out of harms way. His not-quite-human shield lost, Darkness's body was skewered repeatedly by her salvo as he tried to avoid it, only to be locked in place when Fellwyd siezed him from behind and pushed him further into the dagger hailstorm (which released quite a lot of pained cries and obscenties from Darkness). "Mastermind", meanwhile, simply lay sprawled upon the pavement comptemplating what to do next... his whole world had pretty much crashed down to rubble and he was too ashamed to even try getting up anymore."You all freakin' suck h- ARGH I DON'T BEND LIKE THAT!" the very-well skewered Darkness gargled as Fellwyd set about clobbering him with the supervillian's own severed limb, which was quite humilating in any respect and warping his body in ways that humans weren't meant to be bent. "NONONONONO" Darkness attempted to fight the alien off, but was too restricted by mass impalment to prevent the soldier grabbing his head and with a large display of strength, decapitating the supervillian with one powerful movement. That seemed to be far more then he could handle, for Darkness's remaining torso flailed wildy before going limp and slumping to the ground, leaking more of the dark substance that could ever be considered pleasant. It also caused him to shut his mouth for the first time since he arrived, though whether he was actually killed or merely disabled was another question entirely...OOC: I'm assuming Fellwyd still has the head, you can toss it around if you want :P Edited by Transairion

OOC: I suppose I should be honoured that you dedicated this part of the plot to tricking me. Or perhaps I should take it as a challenge and try to one-up you? :sly:IC - Sluice @ Las VegasSluice had always been averse to the idea of killing. She still believed that criminals ought to be punished according to their crimes, it was just that killing was an absolute act. If you got it wrong - killed the wrong person or for the wrong reasons - it could never be taken back.Darkness, however, she considered exempt from that personal rule of hers. He was evil manifest, literally, having been born from the darkness inside Silver's mind. Darkness existed for no purpose other than to cause destruction and pain. He wasn't a person, he was a force; one that needed to be snuffed out. That said, if he had been human Sluice wasn't sure she could have held herself back from attacking as fiercely as she did. It had been a long, exhausting day, and the multiple revelations - her emotions being put through the wringer - had taken the toll on her patience and self-control. When she saw Fellwyd rip Darkness' head off she felt no desire to intervene or object, instead relaxing her stance, then, after a moment of thought, skneeling beside 'Mastermind'."This... i-is this really you, Silver?" Her voice was anxious. "I don't care if it is, I mean, what you - what you look like, I don't care about that. Really, I just... I want to know the truth; I want all the secrets gone, as long as you're alive then it's fine with me, I..." She sighed; when she spoke again her voice was choked up; more tears were on the way. "I just want to know if you're alive or not. I-I can't handle the uncertainty."IC - Apep @ New YorkApep had no clue that Omega and Omega Prime were following her. She did notice the orange-corona'd man in the corner of her vision, but when she tilted her head properly to look he was gone. She faced forward again, unconcerned, continuing her swing across the rooftops. Probably just a passing hero. She'd learned that anyone, even a villain, could get away with travelling plainly about New York and so long as they didn't commit any obvious crimes they'd just be passed off as a patrolling hero. That was unless an observer recognised said villain, but how was Apep to know the cornoa'd man had had a precognitive tip-off?A few minutes later she came to a stop upon another rooftop and paused. The building directly across the street was much taller; large lettering near its base proclaimed it to be the Glass Pillar Hotel. Probably named because it was one of those buildings that seemed to consist of nothing more than square glass panels. Apep seemed to stand still as she stared at the hotel; if one stood close enough they could see her shrivelled eyes moving behind her golden deathmask, hear her rasping mutter as she quietly counted floors. Finally she set her gaze upon one particular window, close to the top. She reached up and launched a new stream of paper...

IC: "Mastermind" pushed himself upwards slightly, in a fair amount of pain. Already weakened from their earlier confrontations being clobbered by Darkness had put him in a bad way, but he didn't seem to have any injuries that were fatal... at least, not visibly. He whimpered slightly at her question, still struggling to look at her even without Darkness to interrupt."Y-Yes.... if you call this living. I didn't want you to know...." he whispered, glancing at her enough that she could tell he was trying hard not to cry. Though his body had been twisted far from what it once been, Silver had yet to leave the world of the living after all. Right now he rather wished he had than have to face this situation... he simply couldn't handle seeing Sluice, a very important factor in his sham of a life, looking at him in this way. Worse was the fact now she knew, it was impossible to take back or hide it again... she had to live with the knowledge Silver had become.... this.OOC:

OOC: I suppose I should be honoured that you dedicated this part of the plot to tricking me. Or perhaps I should take it as a challenge and try to one-up you? :sly:
You're gonna reveal that Sluice doesn't actually like Silver, but Abyss is attracted to him, aren't you? Just to toy with his emotions... Though I wouldn't call one-upping me much of a challenge :P Edited by Transairion

IC(Fellwyd): The alien, who, based on past experience, wasn't entirely convinced that Darkness was dead, disappeared around a corner, from which, after a few moments, the sound of him bashing Darkness' head against a wall could be heard.OOC:EDIT: paste experience, apparently. Typos are weird.

OOC: Say what you want about Fellwyd's social skills but at least he has the tact to disappear round a corner while two friends are having an emotional reunion. :DIC - Sluice @ Las VegasTentatively Sluice reached out and touched Silver's shoulder gently."Tim... I... I'm much happier to know you're alive... what did you think I'd do, hate you for looking like this? You're my best friend. My only reaction would have been - is - wanting to help you." She wanted to hug him, but stopped herself; it would probably only cause him pain what with the injuries he was sporting. Suddenly the thought hit her: "Omigod, I - we hurt you, I-I-I'm so sorry..." Water droplets surrounded Silver's broken finger, freezing very slowly into brittle, sleet-like ice. It was cold enough to numb the area but not cold enough to kill the nerves...

IC: The Phantom (Gone):Drona saw something fly by the widow, 'What was that' he thought. Drona decided to check it out, when he got outside he saw someone swinging through the city. Wait, what, it was someone swinging, 'why don't I just find out what that was.' he thought, he looked off in the distance to a building near the one the person was swinging to. Drona closed his eyes, and faded out, he faded back on top of he building.OOC: I was offline for a while and things seemed to have got going, if there is something I miss pleases tell me.

OOC: I actually thought he was planning to dispose of the head by.... eating it. I'm glad I was wrong. :PIC: Somewhat comedically (and downright creepily) Darkness's remaining body spasmed whenever the head was struck for a good while before going still completely: whether the head was reduced to evil mush or not was up to Fellwyd and his persistance to actually clobber it into such a state."I-I know you would've wanted to help.... but I n-not sure this can be h-helped" Silver winced at her application of a makeshift cast, the gesture at least appreciated. Suddenly he spasmed, reaching up to clutch his head as his aura flared and created several memory afterimages which blurred and overlapped into each other, clashing before fading away just as fast as they had appeared: a more visual representation at the instability within his head. "I d-don't think I'll last more than a couple of months... my m-mind is.... fa-falling apart...." he whimpered quietly, trying hard to block out the mental AND psyhical pain assaulting him.

OOC: Nothing wrong there Light Laser, however I'm going to give Omega/Omega Prime a chance to act before posting as Apep again.IC - Sluice @ Las VegasSluice looked around at the torn-up backstreet, the twitching body of Darkness, the black clouds overhead."W-would it help if we moved someplace else? Esp's nearby, she'll be happy to take you on-board, and I'm sure she can patch up your injuries better than I can," said Sluice reassuringly.IC(NPC) - X-Calibur @ Coalition Mine Hideout"We press on," said X-Calibur. At his side, his Energy Machete still crackled with crimson energy. Loadstone and Magneta were at the front of the group, as instructed, and moved cautiously forwards. As they moved on more ceiling lights activated, similarly, those behind them switched off as they moved away, leaving the group in the middle of a pool of light, with no concept of how far ahead the tunnel stretched or how far along it they had come. The first obstacle they came to, if you could call it that, was a lift shaft. It was the typical cage-style lift you might see in a mine, and given that the tunnel ended there, it was apparently the only way to travel deeper into the hideout. A control panel was affixed to the wall beside it, with numbered buttons presumably representing the floors one could choose to go to."Alright," said X-Calibur in a low voice, after his helmet's scanner detected nothing unusual. "Thoughts..?"OOC: Ymper Trymon, you do know Mr. No-One's part of this plot? Or have you just had nothing interesting to IC from him.

IC: "I guess I don't really have much of a choice apart from lying here forever.... but I'm not looking foward to being chewed out by her. But let's... t-try and get there, at least..." Silver sighed, trying to push himself into a standing position but struggling enough that he wasn't going to get far without help. "... at least you haven't changed much in a month. Apart from.... whats-his-face"Esp meanwhile had been 'eavesdropping' in on the entire ordeal via the communicator built into Sluice's supersuit, and didn't like what she was hearing. If Mastermind truly DID possess Silver memories, then he could easily fake being Silver himself to fool the emotionally fragile Sluice.... then dispose of her at her most vulnerable. But if he really was Silver, then the ship was duty-bound to assist in any way she could, especially trying to treat his condition. But without a DNA sample she wasn't willing to trust anyone yet.

IC: Saosin (Hexas' Sub, Pacific Trash Vortex)"Alright..."Saosin ran a hand through his long blonde hair and took a second to assess the situation. According to Hexas, a United States general - one with a massive network of information - had created a prison for himself that housed his worst enemies and people he deemed worthy of imprisonment. Hexas' "beloved," whatever sense of the word she was using it in, had been captured by Warner and imprisoned in Lockdown, a complex that somehow topped Confinement in sheer inescapability. Needless to say, it was a rather big leap of faith to take the story as truth; nonetheless, if true, it was in defiance of so many international laws you could sink this sub to the bottom of the Pacific if you printed them all out and filled the vehicle with all of the paperwork."Let us take you into protective custody, then," he suggested. "You seem reasonable enough; let us come with you, and we can plead your case before the U.N. We can gather evidence on Warner and Lockdown, and then from there, we can see about getting your...beloved...back to you."-Teezy

IC - Sluice @ Las Vegas"His name is Fellwyd. He's an alien who's stranded here... I've been helping him to adjust to life on Earth. But don't go thinking he's a replacement " Sluice sniffled and smiled. Then she touched her right earpad: "Esp? I... this may seem a bit odd, but turns out, well, Mastermind was Silver, all along... he's hurt, can you pick us up please?" She glanced over at Darkness' body; under her will, the ice daggers that still impaled it began to spread out, mingle, becoming a cocoon of ice. "And Darkness is down here too. He's uh, decapitated but I think we ought to bring him along and drop him off with the League when we get a chance. Just to be on the safe side..."

IC: "Your plan is flawed." Hexas stated, "The governments of the world cannot put me in witness protection if it is the governments of the world I wish to stay protected from. I do this the legal way it won't be long before I am made to disappear, or have an unfortunate accident. All orchestrated by Warner to keep his secrets. I want things in the open, no place for him to hide."

IC: "Ah... so he just happened to appear in your life during the month I was gone? Y-You sure your new helmet doesn't have an alien beacon in it somewhere, we just seem to gravitate towards you..." Silver joked, wincing as he managed to get fully standing again, using his tail for balance. "This thing's as much a blessing as a curse...""I'm aware of his claims. But they are only claims until I can verify via a DNA sample.... he could be manipulating your desperation for Silver's survival by acting as he would. Just stay on gaurd... Darkess is far easier to manage than this Mastermind debacle..." Esp responded, her tone one of suspicion instead of happiness her former owner may still be alive. Regardless of this she still shifted her parked craft form into a light hover, approaching the pair with gangplank extended before landly softly mere meters away. Silver started to walk towards the familar opening with a bit of a pained limp, using his tail both to assist balance and slightly as a crutch... he didn't want to admit it, but it was a real possibility he might actually fall flat on his face if he kept going unaided.OOC: Hey Ymper, can Fellwyd fix his own translator or did you want Esp to attempt to repair it when he enters at some point? It'd be pretty awkward to not have a translator for the rest of the RPG, is all :P

OOC: He doesn't know where that's been. He may be a finger-snapping alien, but he knows what hygiene is.On the translator: it's basically Welsh-to-English. If Esp can figure out he's speaking Welsh, then a suitable replacement could be made.On Mr. No-One: He basically got lost in the woods. IC: This whole time Omega had been making brief hops across buildings, transforming for a few moments before returning to normal once he was on the other side. Thankfully it was a fairly quiet transformation, and what noise there was would almost certainly get lost in the New York noise. He saw her pause at one building in particular. Insofar as intention could be judged with an Egyptian death mask over the face, she seemed focused on this one. Good thing, too, since these rapid transformations were annoying. It wasn't painful or exhausting or anything, but it was kind of like Chinese water torture. He was powerful, he was human, powerful, human, over and over. He crouched down behind a rooftop access and watched carefully. She looked to be about to start the actual crime...|H-D|NPC: "Yeah." Ultionis gestured at the ferrokinetics. "You be ready for anything. If that thing so much as jostles, lock it down and make sure we're not dropped down the shaft. And if anyone here doesn't have insulated boots, stand on someone else's feet. That thing looks exactly right to be electrocuted. Skyra, stay on your toes. I wasn't kidding about poison gas. Everyone else just keep your eyes peeled and be ready for anything. We didn't come this far to back down now, but we didn't do it to get killed for rushing in blind either."(H-D)

NPC: "Actually, that's good. As long as they're not too thin, a layer of rubber between you and the metal floor is exactly what's needed. Just make sure you don't touch anything metal." His own soles were arteficial, designed for stealth and ease of movement, but they just happened to be insulated as well. Good thing too - his armor wasn't. The camo armor was a bit out-of-date and didn't have a built-in Faraday cage. (H-D)

OOC: I've been interested in joining, but before I do, may I ask how much of the story I should know to be well off?
OOC: Realistically, to function adequately in the game I would say all you need to know is a basic rundown of how the League and the Coalition operate, which you can find in the opening paragraphs of their respective Wiki pages. My apologies for the Wiki being a bit messy, but real life has been a bit of a hindrance to our working on it.The only other thing I can think of that would be of any import to note to a newbie is that the world is currently one-or-two months past a planet-wide alien robot invasion, so there are still remnants of that here and there and the world is technically still recovering. As for the storyline, I recently summarized the current plotlines for light Laser in this post. If you read from there on, you should be on top of everything current. :)If anyone else has anything to add, feel free to point it out. TSTW!'s infomaster I may be, but incredibly absentminded I am also. :PIC: (Loadstone)"I wouldn't worry too much about electricity," Loadstone said, as volts of it began crackling around his arm. "I can absorb anything lethal to the rest of you.""Better yet," Sugar Rush said, aiming a gloved palm toward the lift. A thin field of yellow energy shimmered atop the lift's floor. "Now no one has to worry about anything," she said smugly. Well, maybe smug was a harsh way to describe it; she was merely exasperated with all of the debating and was satisfied that she had a method of speeding things along.~ Rumpelstiltskin

IC - Apep @ Glass Pillar hotelThe stream of paper struck and wrapped around the metal rim upon the building's roof. Apep crouched slightly, then sprung forwards, at the same time willing the paper extending from her forearm to retract. The result was a very rapidly-propelled jump towards the hotel's glassy face, in particular the room whose number she'd counted out. The room was situated on one of the topmost levels, and if Apep's action had been delayed by a moment she might have noticed a man materialise upon the roof... but it wasn't, so she didn't, and with a mighty crash she burst through the window and rolled to a bloody stop upon the carpet.Apep straightened up awkwardly, her bones grinding and cracking as she did so. Glass shards stuck out of her at odd angles, and the bandages had been torn in several places; dry, blackish-brown skin was visible underneath. The room sported a huge double-bed, a minibar, sofa, widescreen television, en-suite bathroom... everything one might expect of an expensive room in a high-class hotel."Clara Christensen," Apep rasped to the terrified woman who was cowering in the furthest corner of the room. "You've been a naughty girl."IC(NPC) - X-Calibur @ Coalition Mine Hideout"Now the question is which level do we choose? It's logical for the most important things to be located at the lowest level, but do we want to risk checking the other levels? And do we do it before or after investigating the lowest level?" X-Calibur pointed at the buttons at the side of the cage lift, which were numbered from 10 to 1. The button labelled '10' was already depressed, suggesting that was the number of the level they were currently standing on.IC - Sluice @ Las VegasCarefully Sluice put her arm under Silver's, taking some of his weight as they ascended the gangplank - Darkness' cocooned body dragged along after them at her mental command. She took a few steps up before pausing, then turning her head back towards the ruined backstreet."Fellwyd!" She called out. "We're leaving now!" She'd been too distracted during the battle and subsequent revelations to notice that the alien's translator had been broken. She wasn't sure where exactly he'd disappeared to, either.IC - Gadgeteer @ Pacific Ocean depthsAfter a minute or two of descent the crust of man-made waste disappeared, leaving Gadgeteer and Lone to descend into the featureless waters. It was eerily quiet down here; Viktor could hear his own breathing, the electronic buzz of his armoured battle suit's internal systems, the occasional metal creak as the surrounding water pressure increased upon his armour. It was nothing to worry about - yet - a gauge upon his HUD informed him of the degree of pressure compared to the maximum amount that his Deep Sea Mode could withstand. If it got to be too much, he'd know. What was more disconcerting was that, although he knew the exact location of the Omega Radiation source to which they were approaching, it wasn't visible at all in the misty brown-green depths, making it seem as if he and Lone were sinking into nothingness.Though their commlink held up Viktor said nothing to Lone. There wasn't really anything worth saying. Until a dark shape appeared in the distance, accompanied by a deep, thrumming noise. Viktor braced himself, but as it moved into the light of his headlamps the huge, noisy object was revealed to be a blue whale. It drifted gently overhead - Viktor, overly-cautious as he was, eyed its body carefully for any sort of fitted enhancements, a sign that it was some sort of defense system - but as it passed by into the darkness at the edge of their vision he accepted that it probably was just an ordinary creature.Their descent continued. It grew cold. More echoing whalesong could be heard in the distance. Steadily the colours at the edge of the lighted area became darker. And then finally another shape came into view; this one much more relevant for Viktor could see that the Omega Radiation source was situated inside of it. His headlamps illuminated a submarine; it was hard to tell in the fog of the ocean but it didn't seem overly modern or well-kept. If he didn't know better Viktor might have mistaken it for a sinking wreck."This is it," he informed Lone. His rotors propelled him down, faster than the sub, so that he could reach its underside. He knew the basic workings of submarines: they took water into tanks situated on their underside in order to become heavy enough to sink. Those tanks were the only place he and Lone could use to gain access without bursting the hull and really sinking the sub. Viktor considered pulling it open but that would permanently damage the sub; instead he raised his wrist-ring and released a screwdriver. There was a metal panel on the sub's underside surrounding a vent that was taking in water - Viktor was sure that by removing the panel he and Lone would be able to enter one of the tanks."Do not lose these," Gadgeteer told Lone, handing him large screws one by one as he removed them from the panel...

"Do not lose these,"
That's just hero-talk for "Toss 'em anywhere", right? I seperate myself from any liability caused by everyone inside the sub drowning from following this advice, just so you know. :PIC: The small amount of happiness Silver gained from being supported by the female of his affections was quickly soured when she turned briefly to call for that other guy. The mutated hero did not like Fellwyd much.... had it been under different circumstances maybe he'd be cool with it... but finding out that for the past month (as far as he knew) Sluice had been calvaunting around the world with ANOTHER alien? An alien who was kinda a ***** too, since he decided to snap one of Silver's fingers like a twig... what if Photon was helping Fellwyd out too? What if they'd given Fellwyd his bed?! What if the alien was actually super-suave and had set to work seducing Sluice from the getgo?!?!"Greetings once again, Silver. If you actually are who you claim to be this time" Esp interrupted his unrealistic train of thought, causing Silver to frown in annoyance."Well you're still unhelpful as ever, Esp. Did you actually manage to get everyone off the Mothership, at least?""Everyone we brought to take it down escaped with me, save Shard and yourself. Shard survived his landing on Earth, while you....""Escaped myself. I had to get clobbered by Technax to do it, but I managed it... still questioning whether I should've just stayed up there..." Silver sighed, glancing down at his tri-fingered palm.... it was so unnatural.... he hated it: his own hand! He could barely look at himself anymore, but at least the distraction allowed Esp to send a tendril-like extension over to stab him in the shoulder, draining a blood sample. "THAT ****ING HURT!""Don't be such a baby, it didn't even sting""It did a lot more than sting you... you.... I don't have an insult right now but one'll come to me... and then you'd better watch out , cause it'll be a doozy!" Silver took a bit of a swing at Esp's extension with the blood sample with his good hand: since his tail-wound hadn't been tended to it was possible Silver had probably lost more blood than anyone should and he was becoming a bit... light-headed and zanier than usual.
