IC(NPC): Omega's bolt missed Dirge, as the dust cloud surrounding him prevented it from being precisely-aimed in any way. Meltdown was struck once again however, and staggered back from the force of the attack. Glowing white drops fell from his flailing hands, sizzling the carpet as they struck it.IC: Gap tried to resist the suction of the winds, leaning backwards and trying to keep her feet planted firmly on the floor. She cursed the fact that there was nothing solid for her to grab onto; suits of armour, potted plants and display tables were all sliding towards the storm outside. She just needed a few moments to concentrate... it was lucky that the carpet beneath them was so thick. If they had been standing on a wooden floor, or if the rain was pouring in, Gap's boots wouldn't have been able to keep their hold for very long. She gritted her teeth."Nyagh!"A rent of blackness finally formed in the open windows before her. She allowed her own footing to give way and for the winds to direct her harmlessly into the wormhole...

IC: "Word of advice," Omega taunted, slamming down a dome of energy over the spot with the glowy-handed villain. "Smokescreens don't work if you're glowing." He shrank down the dome to something you could just about crouch in, then began pulling it back across the ground, like a fisherman trying to see what he'd caught.|H-D|

OOC: Sorry if I didn't make it clear, but Meltdown isn't inside Dirge's smoke(dust?)screen.IC(NPC): Meltdown battered his heated fists against the wall of the energy dome, but it was no use. He couldn't even stand up; he was forced to roll along as the dome dragged him back towards the void-black hero. Plasma continued to drip from his hands, leaving a large scorched streak on the floor behind him.Dirge carried on up the corridor, extending the arc of the swirling wind so as to conceal Dread within the dust cloud as well...

IC: Omega grinned. "Invasion just started and I've already caught one of you guys. Not exactly the CC's top thugs, are you?" He dropped down to land next to the trapped villain. "Now where'd I leave those stasis cuffs?" Oh yeah. He'd used them on Fury and hadn't nabbed another pair yet. Darn... "Okay, looks like we're stuck together a while, companheiro. Don't go anywhere." He turned away, leaving one hand channeling energy to maintain the dome and the other aimed into the smoke cloud. "Okay, here's shooting in the dark." He fired off three small bolts of energy, one after another, in three general directions. If one of them impacted, he knew where to aim next. Simple. In theory.|H-D|NPC: Ultionis considered the situation. "Can you tell us their powers? They're probably using them right now, if you look through their eyes..."(H-D)

IC(NPC): Dirge was sensible enough to keep shooting glances behind him as he and Dread advanced into the League base. The orange glow of Omega's energy bolts was apparent as they approached, but they were fast, and the two had only seconds in which to dodge. Dirge could only do so by coming to a stop for a moment; he dived to the side as a bolt singed the ground where he had been running just before...

IC: Nothing. Omega frowned. "They're getting smarter," he remarked. "Or just faster." He tried again, with the same result. "Gr- Stupid dust cloud!" Taking no chances this time, he sent a concentrated, continuous beam of concussive energy forward and swept across the hole, through the cloud. See them dodge that.|H-D|

IC:Hivemind clung to a display case, but since it appeared nothing in this hallway had been bolted down - which made sense, she supposed, Tornado had a long time to set up traps - it was quickly sucked out the window along with her. Fortunately, it appeared Gap had had the common sense to create a world hole. Less fortunately, it appeared Tornado had grown wise to this, and was redirecting his winds to try and carry Hivemind around it. She twisted and turned in midair to try and nudge herself into the wormhole, but without a method of propulsion she was literally fighting air. With no other options, Hivemind burst into swarm form and made a beeline for the portal. Her swarm was being scattered by the intense winds, but finally she managed to pull herself through the portal to the other side.---Omega's first bolt missed Dread by a good yard, then he leapt over the second; he whirled around to see Meltdown getting dragged off by the hero. Dread had grappled with Omega before and wasn't eager for a rematch, but he was confident the dust cloud would keep him concealed. He sent a fear beam snaking off in Omega's direction, trying to occupy him enough for Meltdown to free himself.Archmage, on the other hand, looked a little nervous as Shard made his approach. She fired a few shots at his shield, aiming to break it before he could get in range of her with that club. The first shot sent deep cracks through the barrier, growing wider with each shot.---"Uh... one of them appears to have some sort of fire power, possibly plasma... another appears to induce fear somehow..." Mystic said, focusing her attention through their optic nerves. "There's one kicking up a dust cloud, potentially air-based abilities... and another shooting energy bolts. The fifth hasn't used his powers yet, but he may merely be their driver."[For Science!]

IC: Skyra"Another aerokinetic? That could be an issue. Though I doubt he'd be able to do much about this..." Skyra raised up the sphere of concentrated air, the air was so tightly compressed now it gave off a greenish hue. "This thing is thick enough stop a tank shell." Skyra commented.

NPC: "The Coalition doesn't have 'mere drivers.' They're supervillains, every one. Keep an eye on that one." Someone else's, no doubt. "Can you tell if the know where they're going? Do they have a map or something?"(H-D)IC: "Now this is just getting annoying." He hadn't hit a darn thing. Distracted as he was trying to tag even one of the remaining villains, he didn't notice a thin, green beam lightly touching his leg. He did, however, notice the sensation of tiny claws crawling up the same leg. He looked down- No. No, no, it couldn't be! He was twenty feet in the air! But there they were, he could see them, hear them, feel them, and they only seemed to multiply. He screamed, trying with his hands, his powers and at one point his teeth to get rid of all the squirrels climbing up his body.|H-D|IC: This time Shard didn't stop moving. The cracks worried him, admittedly, and puzzled him - before it had simply disintegrated the wall, but diamond (while having never been tested against disintegration rays to his knowledge) could only be cracked like that by impact, not heat or pressure. Did that mean it was also a physical or concussive force? Eh, worry about that later. For now he fixed the cracks (imperfectly) and charged forward at high speed, aiming to smack her aside with the shield, then smash the staff with his club.*H-D*

IC: Gap and Hivemind emerged upon one of the two great stairways that stood within the entrance hall. Though the howl of the fierce weather outside echoed through the hall, it wasn't being directly affected by the storm... yet."Come on, which way now?" Gap urged Hivemind in a hurried voice.IC(NPC): The concussive beam that swept the corridor struck Dirge fully, slamming him into a wall hard enough for him to lose his control over the swirling dust cloud. It drifted gently to the floor as the aquamarine-clad villain picked himself up, wheezing but determined to carry on. If Dread could successfully cover him for a minute or so, he could catch his breath and carry on as if nothing happened. That was assuming Dread had managed to avoid the beam.IC(NPC): Whilst Omega was preoccupied with his nightmarish hallucination he didn't notice his energy dome had turned opaque. This was because it was now full to the brim with particles of evaporated soil, swimming in superheated air - you tended to get that when splashes of liquid sun were applied to the ground. But where had his captive gone? Had anyone been paying attention in order to wonder that, their question was soon answered as the earth several feet away from the dome exploded, sending chunks of molten mud flying in every direction amidst a burst of smoke and hot air. Within it stood the silhouette of Meltdown, hands glowing as before, garish costume splattered with streaks of brown. The villain hadn't planned it, but he had set a kind of trap for Omega. Due to the manner of his escape the dome was now packed with air so hot it was close to becoming plasma itself. If Omega dispersed the dome that air would flood in all directions, hitting at least himself and Shard, plus any other heroes that ventured close. However if Omega maintained the dome he would, of course, be at least slightly preoccupied and unable to fight at his fullest. Without even realising his advantage, Meltdown attempted to sprint into the mansion after the others...

IC:"Most of them are surrounded in a dust cloud; right now, I can't tell if they're going anywhere. They do seem organized, though. They're not searching for anything, so they must know what they're looking for. We should be careful," she said, pausing before turning her attention to Skyra. "Provided you are still able to catch them off guard, he will not be prepared to counteract you. Just be careful with that... thing. I'd rather not be responsible for more damage to this base than has already been done."As for the car... it appears to be... erm... a Lincoln. Odd. The only modifications I can see are some attached guns and - this is an assumption on my part, since it went through a wall - armor plating. Still, it's an unlikely choice for a Coalition vehicle, so it's almost certainly modified somehow."---Archmage fired a few shots, trying to break the cracks faster than Shard could repair them. Her beams could disintegrate most things with sufficient power, but occasionally she ran up against something tough enough to absorb the energy. She choice to pick an easier target: namely, the floor underneath him. She fired off a disintegration beam, and the floorboards under Shard's feet dissolved away into nothingness.Dread, satisfied with his work, turned and began launching a few fear-beams to discourage anyone who might try and attack Dirge.---First the eye camera fell from the portal, thankfully failing to break as it hit the steps. Seconds later a swarm of bees came swirling out, forming into Hivemind on their way down. She tumbled down the stairs, eventually coming to a halt at the bottom.Oooh... owowowowow..." Hivemind winced, pulling herself up on the banister. She could tell something had gone wrong. Reformation was a difficult and delicate process, and she'd lost some of her swarm in those winds. She'd tried to reform without her full mass, and some part of her must not have reformed right. Hivemind felt a persistent aching pain in her chest, and it could only get worse. Unfortunately, there was nothing she could do until she could form a swarm again, which she was unlikely to do inside this building."Uh... it's..." Hivemind muttered, scooping the eye-camera off the ground, "that way. We're... urgh! ...closer than before this time... should be right... right nearby..."[For Science!]

IC: It just so happened that Omega was a bit too busy worrying about squirrels crawling up his body with their tiny, sharp claws to focus on the energy shield. For a while he held it out of a long-since-built habit of maintaining such constructs even under duress (he'd been doing this for a few years, after all) but then the squirrels tried going up his pants. At that point he stopped caring too much about the prisoner he hadn't noticed missing and- BOOM! The release of superheated air tossed him several yards up. He caught himself before he fell and shook his head. Well, on the bright side, the squirrels were gone. Not-so-bright side? So was his captive, already dashing into the building. Without pausing to wonder where the squirrels had gone and, for that matter, why there had been squirrels attacking him in mid-air during a fight, he dropped down to the ground with a loud crash of his own. Thankfully he'd been far enough from the dome that he was only slightly hurt by the explosion itself, mostly the concussive wave had just tossed him around.Back to the present. He shook his head, still slightly dazed from the boom, and hurled another bolt of energy at the fleeing escapee. "You won't get away that easy!"|H-D|IC: There was a flaw in Archmage's plan: By this time Shard had built up enough momentum that he would've had trouble stopping even if he tried. Without the floor beneath him he went flying forward for a moment, tripped on the edge of the crater and ended up somehow sliding along the floor on his cracked shield. This came as a surprise to him as much as anyone, and he cried out in brief terror as he rapidly approached Archmage. Apparently he forgot he was made of diamond. Apparently he also forgot the club still moving with his arm, as he tried to shield himself from the impact by placing his arm in front of his face instinctively... and inadvertently bringing the club around again just in time for it to impact against the supervillain.*H-D*NPC: Ultionis knew a fair bit about tanks. He had, after all, driven several. He knew, for instance, that in order for any object in motion to stop a tank shell, it would have to have about the same amount of force and/or mass. In other words, this thing Skyra used would be seriously destructive - easily enough to kill people. "And... how did you plan to use that without blowing up everything in its path?" Not that he was particularly against the idea of killing the supervillains if it proved necessary, but he did believe people should know what they're walking into.(H-D)

IC(NPC): The bolt struck Meltdown squarely again. He wasn't exactly a master of dodging. He wasn't a master of anything, really, not even his own powers. Case in point - at the shock of being struck unexpectedly, a spray of plasma came from his hands as he fell, searing the walls, floor and ceiling around him. He made a good effort to try and get back up and running as soon as he could, though.IC: Gap assumed Hivemind was just wincing from the pain of her tumble, and so followed her in quiet alertness. Although she was ready to form another wormhole if they needed it, she knew that it wasn't a tactic they could rely on forever - at the rate Tornado was attacking soon enough the entire mansion would be filled with wind and rain. If he was prepared to do this much damage to his own home just to stop two intruders then he really was quite paranoid, she mused. Negotiations with him were going to be difficult, to say the least...

IC:Kaname just sighed, If that was supposed to get him mad it didnt, more than likely he wondered why he would be compared to such children. I'm sixty years older than the lot of you.. When the ceiling collapsed he was stuck on the same side as Plasmafire, still in his Lightning form he wondered if it would do any good to just make this entire area a Electrical hazard but that wouldnt be good since everyone else would get caught in it, and Kaname can keep up such things for a very long time. While Otherfade said that suck shocks were instant, Kaname would have to disagree, he can keep shocking a single person for hours and change the voltage. And even keep a whole city up and running for at least two months. He wasn't a Lightning user who manipulated, he can create it.But right now wasn't the time to be thinking of thoughts like that, right now they had to figure out how to get to the two Fade's. He saw Plasmafire trying to get to the other side. Walking up he asked "Plasmafire, is there any way that maybe I can possibly get over there? I'm sure that my form allows me to stream into small cracks."

OOC: My last post of 2011!IC(NPC): With one last deep draw of breath Dirge broke into a run again. He decided not to bother with the dust cloud anymore as, now that he and Dread were well within the mansion, it would be a completely obvious target anyway. He was primed to launch any number of repulsive gales of wind though, should any more heroes spring upon them...

OOC: Actually, Kenpachi, the Fades phased through the wall, and Otherfade is now trying to scale the rubble to escape.IC: Plasmafire stumbled away from the wall as the Fades came through, almost knocking into Kaname. "No need, just get the other Fade!" He cried, pointing to the fleeing form. He tossed a few plasma orbs at the rubble Otherfade was climbing, trying to knock it down to prevent his escape.

"Quis custodiet ipsos custodies? Your grace."

"Ah, but who watches you, your grace?"

"I do that too. All the time."

IC: (Aquarius)Aquarius struggled to right himself, considering that his arms were handcuffed behind his back. It wouldn't do to have his rescuers find him lying in a heap on the floor. Come to think of it, if he could get out of those blasted handcuffs, he might be able to assault the heroes from behind. Not much chance of that, but he might as well do something while he waited...IC: (NPC - Impact)Surprisingly, Impact was contributing extraordinarily little to the fight erupting around him, stalking purposefully down the hall as if nothing were happening and that he owned the mansion. He knew a little about the floor plans of the base, knew that Aquarius was most likely being kept in the underground complex. As he saw it, there was no point in wasting his energy and needlessly toppling walls at this point. Much better to react defensively and focus on getting to Aquarius.IC: (NPC - Ethereal)"Sure thing," Ethereal said cheerfully. "I don't get many visitors here, so I appreciate the company. OOC: Ah..didnt see that.Last Post Of 2011!!!IC:Kaname Backed away when Plasmafire almost crashed into him. Seeing the fleeing Otherfade climbing up the rubble, Kaname's body bursted with Black Lightning, and as fast or faster than a normal Lightning Bolt, Kaname was above Otherfade in a flash, then said before he made his move, his voice sounding really different, "I'm not like the Lightning users you fought before Young one, I'm way more advanced than them." A Lightning Wall suddenly popped up, but instead of going everywhere, he kept it so that the Wall connected to the spot on the rubble to what was left of the Ceiling above Otherfade, making it almost impossible to get through. It was behind this wall that was electrified to the point where anything that could die will die. Unfortunately with Otherfade's little Drug it would not be possible to kill him, just pretty much give him the worst burns of his life.As long as he don't realize the fact that this wall and such only covers the surface, I wont have to worry about him Phasing underneath me. right now would be bad if they let Otherfade escape.

IC: (NPC-Ethereal)Ethereal thought for a moment. "Well," he said finally, "I think I know a good place." He took Crystal's hand, and with a lurch in her stomach the world shifted again. The clearing was gone - instead, they stood on a tropical beach looking out at the ocean. Though the same rainbow sun shone from the sky, nothing else looked remotely like the scene before. The sequins of the sky were orange here, like sunset even though the sun was far from the horizon. The water was a solid blue-green, impossible to see through as it rolled up onto the sand. As each wave met the shore, it became clearer and whiter, until it evaporated into a thin mist which rose up into the sky. The pure white sand, looking like nothing more than snow, glittered with thousands of golden points of light. Farther up onto the island, palm trees swayed in the breeze, ruby red fronds growing from the tops of deep green trunks. Out on the horizon, several more islands were visible, though they hovered a good hundred feet above the surface of the water. The warmth that one would associate with the tropics was muted, ever-present but only as much as was totally comfortable."Do you like it?" Ethereal asked.~Lord Rahl~

IC:Otherfade paused a moment to glance up and Kaname."Talk is cheap, old man, and in my line of work - well, former line of work, anyway - practically everybody talks tougher than they can sell. Where I'm standing, you're just another loser in a bad costume boasting about how all-powerful you are. Trust me: it was old then, and it carries even less weight when I'm on the side of actual all-powerful," he said. "You've got another problem, by the way. You can't intimidate me me, because I know you can't kill me. I don't care how much voltage is running through your web, or how much it's gonna hurt me. The second I'm on the other side, I can just walk it off and leave you all to freeze out here. Speaking of which, see you round-"Fade grabbed hold of Otherfade, slamming him down into the rubble."Y'know, maybe everybody is right about me," he muttered, raising his fist for a punch. "We talk way too much..."Otherfade caught Fade's fist mid-swing, shoving him aside and jumping to his feet. He kicked Fade in the chest; his armor absorbed the force behind his boot, but nearly knocked him off balance He threw out his grappler, catching on a chunk of twisted steel and stopping a plunge back down to the floor below. Otherfade seized both an opportunity and Fade's grappling line, yanking him forwards right into Otherfade's waiting fist. Fade crumbled from the blow, nearly tumbling off the rubble heap."What's the matter with you? This entire fight you haven't phased a single attack. Unless.. oh, don't tell me you can't, can you?" Otherfade taunted. "Don't tell me I'd have let myself get this weak! Finishing you off isn't even going to be a challenge..."---Hivemind started down the stairs, waving the hijacked eye-camera in every direction. The light in the eye was sparking like crazy as it bounced around on its wires."Alright, something's not right here... We ought to be... uugghh ...ought to be right on top of him. Unless he's crazy enough to try hiding in one of those suits of armor - still not ruling that out, by the way - Tornado isn't... gah! ...in the room with us," Hivemind muttered, wincing as the pain got worse. "Unless... his hiding spot is directly underneath us. Have you seen any stairs that look like they might go down to a basement? Doesn't look like there's one... ugh... in the main hall... gah... but it's gotta... be... tucked around her... somewhere... Arghh!"Hivemind couldn't take much more, dropping to her knees and clutching tightly at her chest as the pain got worse. A reddish spot was growing on her uniform...---Archmage raised her staff to defend herself as Shard's club came down. Impressively - and perhaps surprisingly - what appeared to be a simple oaken staff took the impact of the diamond club without splintering; whatever it was truly made of was tougher than it looked. Archmage, on the other hand, lacked such superhuman durability, and was knocked backwards by the impact even with her staff absorbing most of the force. She flew backwards down the hall, her staff clattering to the floor near her. Archmage quickly scrambled to scoop her weapon back up, spinning about and firing a disintegration beam Shard's way while he was still recovering from his little fall...[For Science!]

IC: DreamcatcherThe beach was incredible, without a second thought, Crystal put her feet into the sand, it was incredibly soft, and wasn't too hot either. She felt the breeze go through her hair, it felt nice. "You might find it weird, but I like this breeze the best. It reminds me of...of a friend. IC: "Destination reached."A slight shudder passed through Esp's interior as she came in to land. As Sluice and Fellwyd moved onto the descending boarding ramp they found that she had managed to land in a mostly-empty car park.On the street opposite there stood the League Court of Great Britain, the core of British superhero activity. Some months ago it had been blown up by the Coalition, but in the spirit of defiance it had been rebuilt to nearly the exact appearance it had sported before. It was tall and wide, with many blue-tinted windows, standing out against the far less impressive office buildings that surrounded it. A pair of caped heroes rocketed out of one of its upper windows as they approached, whilst a League Jet came into land upon the roof. At its base a ring of burly-looking security guards stood; their purpose was not to defend the HQ however, but to prevent crowds of onlookers from forming. Since she was dressed in her supersuit and he was obviously not human the guards allowed Sluice and Fellwyd to pass through without a second glance. The front doors, a pair of automatic, mirrored ones, slid apart to allow them entry. As they entered the base they passed through a large metal arch which was evidently a scanner of some sort. The reception area looked curiously ordinary; it was mostly a plain room, with a secretary sitting at a front desk and smiling as the two walked in (her smile faltered as her gaze rested upon the reptilian alien). A photograph upon one wall displayed those members of the League that had originally constructed this base, but before Sluice could properly study it a woman strode up. She was dressed in a plain green supersuit, and had curly hair that had been dyed dark green."Hello - Sluice? I'm Florarmour." The woman flashed her League ID as she spoke. "I assume this is the - you're the alien?" She didn't seem certain whether to address Fellwyd directly or not...OOC: I just remembered that Fellwyd has his 'Douglas Smith' disguise. Could he bring that up somehow?

IC: Plasmafire saw the fight from below, and rocketed upwards, aiming to ram into Otherfade before he could finish Fade off.

"Quis custodiet ipsos custodies? Your grace."

"I know that one. 'Who watches the Watchmen?' Me, Mr. Pessimal."

"Ah, but who watches you, your grace?"

"I do that too. All the time."

IC(Fellwyd): "Yes, I am the visitor, though if necessary, I can blend in reasonably well."Click. Instead of an alien, there was now a slightly pudgy man in a blue suit.Click. Alien again.Click. Alien in a blue suit. A bit of frustrated tapping on the device later, and the disguise activated fully.Click. Fellwyd stood before them once again, and his hand left the camouflage device sewn into his armor."Based on observation over the past year, this appeared to be the best disguise."

IC: "That's great! That will make things a lot easier," said Florarmour after a moment's thought. She beckoned for the pair to follow, and strode into a waiting lift. "What we can do for you is create all of the necessary documents for your disguised form to be recognised as a human within our society. It's a bothersome bunch of red tape but it's necessary if you want any kind of rights as an inhabitant of this planet. That's assuming you want to stay?""He crashed here. He doesn't know how to reach his home planet," Sluice explained. The lift doors closed, and Florarmour selected a floor."Well, the question is, what exactly do you wish to do with your time on Earth? Seek a way back home? Become part of human society? Or live a quiet life in the country somewhere..?"

IC(Fellwyd): "That is uncertain at this point. l do not yet know enough about any location on this planet but Cardiff, so I cannot decide what I wish to do here. What I do know is that the technology of this world is far from advanced enough to permit an attempt at returning home. For such an endeavor as that, I would have to wait hundreds of years."Fellwyd was a little uncertain about the documents portion of the plan, given that, while he was familiar with the concept, he had yet to become literate in any Earth language.

IC: "Alright, that's fair enough. We'll just set you up with a home for now and you can think about the long-term some other time," said Florarmour.Sluice spoke up. "Um, Fellwyd, you told me before that you were a warrior, and you were very helpful when we battled The Reaper. I just thought that, maybe it might be nice for you to, erm, do a similar thing to what you did before, on your own planet. I thought, well, it might be a bit of a large step, but you could always join the League of Salvation..."
