Hapori Tohu
I said we were going back to Avengers set reviews, and I am true to my word. Today DeeVee looks at another of the Marvel constraction sets, 4530 Hulk. Is this monster of a set worth your hard-earned cash despite his lack of purple pants? You'll have to read on to find out! Gatanui
The colours are somewhat off in the photos. Apart from that, thanks for the review! The Hulk has some nice pieces, but he looks just wrong, with the black, hollow back and the thin legs. Also, the small lime green bone pieces have already appeared in constraction sets, namely Surge and Toxic Reapa.-Gata Edited May 17, 2012 by Gatanui Quote - Gata Please don't use my avatar or signature without permission, thanks! Aanchir
This was a surprisingly even-handed review of the Hulk set. A lot of reviews consider his flaws unforgivable, but this one doesn't make too big a deal about the colors except in circumstances where an obvious alternative presents itself, like the lower torso and lower arms.I think the Hulk set's flaws are understandable when you consider the circumstances of its design-- namely, that the designers were probably scrounging for ways to make a set as huge and bulky as the Hulk at the same price point as all the other Super Heroes sets. Thus, we see places on the back where shells could easily have been placed to fill in gaps, and yet weren't. We see relatively few parts in new colors. There are flaws like the color of the lower arms that don't exactly make sense, but for the most part I think this was a valiant effort at making a Hulk set while working with the same constraints as smaller sets with more average Super Hero physiques.I'm sure many of those who are disappointed with the Hulk set will be much more satisfied with Stormer XL, who fixes many of the problems Hulk exhibits such as the lack of back armor, the awkwardness of the bulky frame, and the disorganized colors. That isn't to say Stormer XL doesn't have flaws of his own, but what he demonstrates more than anything else is that this bulkier build can work at a higher price point.Another winner, DeeVee! Always great to read your reviews. Quote Latest MOC: PAIGE (Prototype Artificial Intelligence, Gynoid Expression)
Mare Tranquillitatis
The Hulk has some nice pieces, but he looks just wrong, with the black, hollow back and the thin legs.Yup. Indeed he had to be bulky, but this is just too much. That back is too big and, more important, I always knew Hulk's body was totally green, not just the torso. So why are the back and arms black? O.o
Cirkitree
God I want a Thor set.YES! So I'm not the only one!Tried making Thor (based on his appearances in the 'Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes' series), got stuck on the hammer and head. I imagine if released the head would be one part, and the hammer two or three.Anyway... have not appeared outside of Ninjago sets before thisHaven't we seen the small-length HF limb in lime in the Toxic Reapa set? It's used as his neck. I am rather surprised (and very pleased) at how you didn't overlook the good of The Hulk set and just focus on the bad. He's not my favorite either, especially with the armor on the torso (how would that even work? Would it be a breastplate of some kind?) and his open back(weak spot!), but in some of those poses Hulk looks.. smashing. :PI think you did well with the review, it was very enjoyable, and gives me more incentive to purchase the Hulk.. probably only just for his parts, but still! Taipu1
I know lego have never particularly cared much about what the backs of the sets look like, but seriously? That's kind of horrific. And the colour choice there just adds to the jeopardy... Quote - Taipu1.HighFly MatoranShowdownBZPRPG ProfilesHave you seen my Blog? Always great to read your reviews. It´s obvious the designers had to work with many limitations due to the price point, which is a pity. Maybe a Thor set would have worked better? I can imagine Thor´s head turning out hideous, though. -Gata Quote - Gata Please don't use my avatar or signature without permission, thanks! Takhamavahu
It looks cool and all, buhy would they use black on the soulders and abdomen when green would have been just as easy and look better?and as usual, they don't care what the back looks like because you dont see it in any of the promotional pictures. Protodite Karzahni
I've gotta agree with the review. Of all the superhero sets this year, Hulk has got to be the worst. Followed closely by The Joker. Does it have shoulder articulation, though? The review never mentioned and I'm rather curious, given it at least looks like it does. Quote I wrote stories once. They were okay.
