Bionicle: Dark Forces

Dark Forces takes place in an alternate reality of the Matoran Universe. In this universe, the Toa never won their war against the Dark Hunters for Metru Nui. The Dark Hunters were able to reprogram the Vahki and they used them as a force to help wipe out the Toa and win the war. Instead Toa Lhikan fell into Nidhiki's trap and was tragically killed. The Dark Hunters quickly took control of the city and even had Turaga Dume executed. Now that the Vahki were in the Dark Hunter's possession they used them to keep the Matoran in fear and at bay, and they began to cleanse Metru-Nui and many islands of any Toa. Masks of power became illegal in Metru Nui unless they belonged to the Dark Hunters. After the Great Cataclysm Makuta Teridax and the rest of the brotherhood tried to take control of the city, they were defeated by the superior might of the combined Dark Hunter army, and they were thrown into the newly flooded Pit, to be mutated by its waters. Makuta Teridax was locked away forever. The Dark Hunters catch the Toa Haga after they had stolen the Avohkii from the Brotherhood; the Hunters take the mask and killed the Toa. Sidorak and Roodaka were both defeated by the Hunters, along with their Visorak horde, leaving Metru Nui in the Hunters control for thousands of years. The Mask of Time also fell into the hands of the Hunters, and they have used their power to keep Mata Nui alive all this time. The Toa Mata were never released, they would never become the heroes that in another universe they were destined to become. Now in the present, a group of eight Matoran have stumble upon mysterious Toa Stones, Toa Stones that are unlike any ever seen before, and they are transformed into the Toa Draconis. Now the fate of Metru Nui is in their hands, they must work together to liberate the city, and perhaps the entire Matoran Universe from the clutches of the Dark Hunters.http://www.bzpower.com/board/index.php?showtopic=6055 ((Review))

Chapter One: Toa of Earth

Talkon paced before his student congregation. He was currently teaching a history class to a group of Onu-Matoran within the Archives. As his students hurried to scribble down notes on what he was saying; Talkon found it hard not to spill out the truth; the truth about what he’d learned about the Dark Hunters, the truth about the Matoran Universe, and the true history, not the one that the Dark Hunters wrote. But he knew if he did this, surely one of his students would tell someone and then they would come for him, he was a Toa yes, but being a hero was against the law these days. Ever since the Dark Hunters had conquered the Matoran Universe, Toa had been slaughtered all over. Many years ago, war, broke out all over Metru Nui. The Dark Hunters used dirty tactics, to attack and assassinate the Toa. Toa Nidhiki betrayed his brother Toa Linkan and killed him in cold blood. The Dark Hunters then took control of the Vahki and used them to build their army and help destroy the Toa.Soon the Dark Hunters controlled the city and they proclaimed that the Toa were terrorists, the Matoran were too afraid to do anything about it. The war was soon over. The bodies of once great Toa lay broken in the streets, their great Masks, cracked and broken.Yes, Talkon was a Toa, but he did not look like one, he’d stumbled upon something strange a few months ago within the Archives. A group of strange stones, when he’d reached out and touched the stone it has suddenly activated, the stone had lifted into the air, and it seemed to transform into a ball of light, and then it flew directly into his chest. Talkon had been thrown back, and when he got up, he’d been taller; he’d been transformed into a Toa.But he was different than any of the other Toa he’d ever heard of, he could transform his body into that of a Matoran, and then back into a Toa at will. He still possessed his new elemental powers in the form of a Matoran, but it helped him hide his secret, that he was now an enemy of the Dark Hunters.Often lately Talkon would find himself staring in the mirror, examining himself, and he would then transform himself into his Toa form. He was much bigger, bulkier, his armor more impressive and sleek, and his mask bigger and more grand, the Toa stone had transformed his mask too. It had become the Mask of Rahi-shape, and allowed Talkon to transform into the shape of any Rahi, he’d ever seen with his own eyes.Talkon had taken the rest of these stones, and hidden them in his home, only to reveal them to his closest Matoran friends later, to show them what he’d become. The stones had transformed Talon’s friends into Toa like him, and also like him they’d been given the power to turn themselves into the shape of a Matoran, and Toa at will. Talkon had called them the Toa Draconis; he’d never been sure why, but it was almost as if a voice has whispered the word into his head.Night time was Talkon’s real escape, when he could be his true self; or at least be what he really was now, a Toa Hero.Several hours later Talkon finished with his class and arrived back at his small home in Onu-Metru . He walked inside and saw his friend, Ashala. Ashala was a Ga-Matoran, and one of the members of the Toa Draconis. “Are you ready?” he asked.“Of course,” She replied.A few minutes later Talkon and Ashala activated their power, and transformed themselves into their Toa form. Ashala had a slim figured body, and her armor was a light-sapphire, with a few darker shades of blue mixed in. Her two yellow eyes surveyed Talkon from behind her Kanohi, which was the Mask of Healing, a very useful Kanohi for when they were in battles. When Talkon transformed himself into a Toa, suddenly his body began to grow as his armor changed and became more complex. When he had transformed, his armor was clearly changed, it was obsidian-black, and different parts of the armor were a dark shade of grey. Even his boots and gloves were armored and plated. His Kanohi had transformed too, from an average powerless Matoran mask, into a new Great Kanohi, Talkon now had the power to turn into two different Rahi. His favorite forms to become were a Muaka, and a Kewa, which allowed him to fly. Talkon’s Kanohi was completely blank, except for the two eye holes, which had two glowing emerald eyes shinning from within.Ashala’s then went to the nearest window in Talkon’s two story home and jumped outside, she unleashed a jet of water from the bottom of her feet, which lifted her up into the air. She turned around, the column of water twisting as she waited for Talkon to follow. Talkon grabbed a hold of the window, and then pulled himself outside. He turned, and then unleashed his two long and incredibly sharp wrist-blades, which were his Toa, tools, and used them to climb up to the roof of his home.Talkon’s breath came out as a white puff of vapor in the air as he exhaled. It filtered through his Kanohi and dissipated in the night air. Talkon waved to his teammate, “You take the east side, and I’ll take the west, and head out near the entrance to the Archives. We will meet back here around five in the morning; if you run in to trouble you know how to reach me.” He said.Talkon then turned around, and his body started to shift. His armor melted into the armor of a Rahi, and his body burned all over, as his organic matter and armor shifted. He could feel his armor splintering for an instant; as his limbs rearranged themselves. In a few seconds Talkon no longer stood on the roof, but a sleek black Muaka. The Muaka gave a low growl, started to run over the roof, reached the edge of the roof, and gallantly jumped over the abyss between two rooftops, landing gracefully on the other roof; Cat’s always land on all fours. Talkon mused.

Chapter Two: Implosion

Ketren lay in his bed, unable to fall asleep. He and Icitine had just gotten back from their own night escapades, as patrolling Ta-Metru as Toa. Now that they had finished patrolling they’d returned to his home in Ta-Metru to get some shut eye.Ketren’s armor sported a new array of bruises and cuts from that night’s patrolling; he and Icitine had taken out a few Vahki, but he still felt better than he had in two years. No matter what he tried, Ketren could not rid himself of the memory of when he first became a Toa along with Icitine. Ketren and Icitine had always been close friends. Icitine was a rare Matoran in Metru-Nui. She was the only female Ko-Matoran who had ever existed in the city far as Ketren knew. Despite they’re differences in character, they had always somehow gotten along, maybe it was because opposites attracted, Ketren wasn’t sure. Despite his silent protests, his mind shifted back to the events that took place roughly a few months ago. Ketren’s mind eye shifted to the scene of when he and Icitine both became Toa for the first time.Ketren stood in the hospital room; squeezing Icitine’s hand as the doctors helped repair her armor. A chute system had exploded that day, and pieces of the chute had rained down on Icitine and damaged her armor. He could almost feel her pain; he could see the agony in her face. “It’s going to be alright Icitine. Everything’s going to be alright.” He promised. As they worked on her, he looked inside his bag, and saw the two strange stones that Talkon had given them. Talkon hadn’t said much. “Take these.” He said. “Why?” Ketren had asked him. “You will know soon enough.” Talkon had said. Now in the infirmary, Ketren reached out and touched one of the stones for the first time. The stone suddenly began to glow a bright crimson. It shot out of the bag and flew into Ketren’s chest, knocking him back, and he could feel his body changing, and growing. “What’s happening!” he yelled.“Ketren!” Icitine yelled. She ran over to him, her hand brushing the bag suddenly, when the other stone began to glow a bright white, and then flew into her chest, fusing with her, and starting to transform her as well. “It’s going to be alright.” Icitine said as she shuddered on the floor next to Ketren. But everything wasn’t alright; far from it. Icitine was transforming into a Toa. The doctor regarded them with shock. “By the Great Spirit.” He said backing away. Suddenly Ketren’s transformation was completed and he got to his feet. Ketren’s felt like he had choked on splinters when a cry of terror and shock came out of the doctor.“You’re a Toa!” he said, backing away. “I have to tell the Hunters, they must know the truth!” The doctor said.Ketren’s eyes fell on Icitine, who was also transforming into a Toa; the source of the doctor’s turmoil, Ketren felt his fist tighten. The doctor would report them, the Dark Hunter’s would find them, and kill them like they killed all the rest of the Toa.Ketren stumbled toward the doctor.“No, no, no, no.” he gasped, already knowing what he must do. “What’s wrong Ketren?!” Icitine cried, not able to see, because she was still writhing on the floor. Ketren’s mind raced, as he decided what to do. “No, no, no, no, NO, it shouldn’t be like this!” he yelled. The doctor still stared at Ketren dumbfounded. He was at a loss for words. The doctor was slowly backing away. “I… I… I need to report this…” he said about to turn and run. Ketren was on him before he had the chance. Agony flared up inside him as he knew what he was about to do. But sometimes doing the right thing; was doing the wrong thing.Without thinking his right hand shot up, and leapt into flame. A huge column of fame jumped from his hand, and enveloped the doctor. It was just about the hottest his flames he had ever felt, even from all his years working in Ta-Metru; he had packed all of his anger, sadness, and agony into that one blast. When it was over the doctor was gone, nothing was left except for the black outline of a Matoran, completely made out of his ashes, and melted armor.A nurse Matoran had just walked in, she screamed when she saw what Ketren did. But before she could do it again, Ketren had grabbed her by the Kanohi. He activated his powers again, and her Kanohi caught onto fire, and began to burn. He held onto her mask as she thrashed around, her eyes bulged as her mask began to char, split open, and turn to ash. Ketren held onto her, until her face turned completely into ash, and her decapitated body fell at his feet.Ketren remembered pulling Icitine to her feet now that she had transformed into a Toa.“If you want to survive, we have to go now.” He said. She nodded and together they ran over to the nearest window. The window was sealed shut. Ketren raised his arm again, and melted through the glass. He them jumped out of the window, and then activated his new Mask of Levitation, the Kanohi Miru; and took off into the night sky, Icitine following him, creating a bridge of ice that she slid over as they fled.***Ketren sat up in bed. Just thinking about that memory made him feel sick. He had killed two innocent Matoran, just so he and Icitine could live. When Icitine had learned what had happened she was equally as shocked, but she was also happy. She looked at it as a gift, a ray of hope. They were Toa now, maybe they had a chance, a chance to learn how to harness their power, and help bring down the Dark Hunters. But sometimes Ketren didn’t feel that way, Toa weren’t supposed to kill Matoran; what if there was something wrong with him?______________________________________________________________________ Talkon crept to the edge of a rooftop. He could hear screams down below. There was a mob around the Archives, Matoran were holding signs that read “Down with the Dark Hunters”.A figure was in the crowd, and he was causing the screams. The figure was clearly a Dark Hunter. He brought both of his arms out and two black orbs appeared in each hand. Suddenly the air became dense and things on the ground began to swirl in the air, and then fly at the Dark Hunter. The items revolved around the Hunter, and then were sucked into the black orbs and were gone.Suddenly Matoran were wrenched into the air and pulled at the Hunter. He closed one hand, and the black orb was gone; as he pulled a large sword off his back. When the Matoran flew close to him, he sliced them apart, their broken parts and bodies suspended in the air before they were pulled into the other black orb. As the parts of the dead Matoran surged into the orb the man seemed to shimmer and grow more powerful.Toa Talkon watched awe struck as the villain did this. He knew he was a Dark Hunter who had been sent there to stop the riot. Talkon transformed from a Muaka into his Toa form, and then jumped off the roof of the building. He slid his long blades out of his wrist-sheaths, and put them behind him, using them to cut into the concrete, and slow his decent. Sparks lit up the night air, as Talkon slid down. When he was close to the ground, he pushed off the wall with his feet, did a front-flip, and landed before the villain.By now most of the crowd was dead, their bodies floating around the Dark Hunter before being pulled into him. When the man spied Talkon he smiled darkly. “I thought this would bring one of you Toa out of the woodworks.” He said. “I am Implosion, and I shall be your death.” He said twirling his sword. Implosion’s armor was midnight black; and his back was covered with large spikes. He had a sadistic looking face, with a mocking grin, with huge teeth. He was a Skakdi, there were many like him within the Dark Hunters. He had two pale bright crimson eyes that narrowed at Talkon. Before Talkon could react, he was sucked into the air, flying at Implosion. Small rocks and other debris pelted Talkon as he was wrenched in the air, flying around in a broad circle, as he slowly orbited Implosion, drawing nearer, and nearer. When he was within striking distance, Implosion lashed out with his blade, trying to slice Talkon in half. Toa Talkon easily parried with both of his wrist-blades, sparks lighting the air again as he did so.Talkon was now flying even closer to Implosion, and there would be no way to avoid another strike. Talkon watched as Implosion’s sword arced toward him, he was too close to dodge; he only had one option left.Talkon summoned his powers and transformed into a Kewa bird. Now slightly smaller than he once was, the blade passed harmlessly by him, its tip tearing a few bits off of one of his wings. Now passed Implosions defenses Talkon swooped in, and lashed out with one of his Talon’s. The Talon sliced into Implosion’s face, and cut through his left eye.Implosion screamed and reared back, his activated orb dissipating. Talkon turned back into his Toa form, and then stabbed one of his wrist-blades into Implosion’s shoulders, and then his other into his other shoulder. He than ran forward towards the nearest wall, impaling Implosion on the cement.Anger flared inside Talkon. “I usually don’t kill Dark Hunters, but you are a monster. Killing innocent Matoran and sucking them into your implosion, to fuel your own strength. You must not be allowed to hurt others.” Talkon said.He then wrenched out his blades, and stabbed one into Implosion’s chest. Implosion reared back and gagged, and then he fell limp.Talkon backed away from the body, light dancing over his wrist-blades. He touched a button on his palm and his wrist-blades were pulled into their sheaths. Talkon turned away from the scene, and disappeared into the nearest alley.

Chapter Three: Rock-slinger

Lathon stood inside a warehouse as he finished cleaning off a vehicle he’d been working on. Life was pretty good indeed for him recently, he enjoyed his job like most Le-Matoran did, except that he wasn’t really a Le-Matoran, he was a Toa. He was a Toa of air now, and at night he helped to keep the crime rates down, and spy on any Dark Hunter activity that was happening in Le-Metru.Lathon's Kanohi was the Mask of Teleportation; and he had the power to teleport to any place he had been before, or could see in his own vision. He could also bring things or people with him that was in contact with him.Lathon had already finished going out that night; most of the Toa Draconis worked in pairs or alone, it was too risky for them to all go out together, but if there was ever a threat that needed all of their attention they would gladly join together. Lathon was just staying up and cleaning the vehicle he’d been building while preparing for the next day.______________________________________________________________________Toa Calx closed his eyes and focused. They had to be somewhere, it was easy to hide in Po-Metru, but Calx was a Toa of Stone, and could feel out the target with his strong connection with the stone beneath his feet.“Where are you…?” He trailed off to himself. After a few short moments of concentration, he found his targets. They were fifty kilos west of his position. A smirk crept upon the corners of his mouth, behind his mask. They thought they were so well hidden. It was time to move. He quickly shot a fist at the general direction of where the targets were, and instantly an enormous boulder that was resting in a pile of rocks flew into the air. With a few twitches of the finger, the boulder exploded into thousands of small stone shards, sending a relentless storm falling on his targets. The shards were instantly batted away by an invisible blast of gravity, and a lightning bolt flew straight at Calx. The Rock Toa dodged the bolt by a hair, and was going to retaliate when a blast of gravity struck him clear in the chest, sending him on his back. Calx looked up to see a figure in the sky leaping at him, a small-blade in hand.“You’re too reckless!” He yelled as he created a stone dome around him. The figure landed softly on the top, quickly jumping off before Toa Calx broke it up and sent stones flying at him. The target blasted them all away, and sent more gravity blasts at Calx, who managed to block them by creating a stone wall. As he did this, a lightning bolt struck him in the back. It would have killed him if he weren’t for his Toa armor, but it still hurt.“Ah, Valkura that hurt!” Calx yelled. Valkura didn’t reply, only firing more lightning at Calx. Calx dodged the bolts, blocked two more, and charged at Valkura, using a quick flurry of punches in an attempt to catch her off guard. Valkura’s recent training proved to be too much for him as she struck him in the chest with an open palm, making him stumble back.Calx was then assaulted by a gravity blast from behind, forcing him to his knees. Valkura was going to finish him, but Calx sank quickly into the ground, using his Mask of Intangibility to allow him to escape.“Where’d he go?” Thorin asked. As if on cue, Thorin sank to the ground as well.“Blast it,” Toa Valkura mumbled under her breath as she got into a fighting pose. She waited for Calx to make the first move. A few grueling seconds later, Thorin flew out of the ground, covered in dirt. He landed on his butt with a heavy thud.“Son of a…” He mumbled.“Thorin Look out!” Valkura yelled. “Where is he?” She asked. Thorin got to his feet and looked at his teammate. “He’s behind you!” He yelled. Valkura spun around, charging electricity in her fist. Calx exploded from the ground behind her.“You’re right on time!” Valkura yelled. She punched Calx in the chest before he could react. He flew backwards, crashing into a large rock wall. He shakily got to his feet, and blocked several more lightning bolts with a rock wall. He then kicked it, sending it flying at the other two Toa. Thorin leaped over it, and Valkura blasted it to dust. Just before Thorin landed, Calx created a rock clone and made it tackle Thorin to the ground. Calx then stomped his foot on the rock floor, turning the stone beneath Thorin into pebbles, and hardening it back into stone when Thorin was half way under the ground.“Ah blast!” He yelled. He was underground from the waist down. Valkura used her Kanohi Kakama of Speed to enhance her speed, and charged at Calx, striking hard and fast with quick punches charged with electricity. Calx was thrown back as he tried to block the attacks but to no avail. Valkura kicked him in the gut, forcing him on his back. She leaped up at him, but Calx countered by sinking underground and coming back up behind her.He then caught her in a bear hug, creating a stone band, restraining her arms. He then kicked her in the back, forcing her to the ground.“Looks like I win.” Toa Calx said. Thorin was lifted out of the ground and Valkura’s stone restraints crumbled to nothing.“Guess you guys are collecting the supplies tonight.” Calx said.“Whatever. Next time you’ll be the one collecting them.” Thorin said as he stretched his legs. The three made their way to the small wooden house they’d all built together just two weeks ago. Since Thorin and Valkura had no respective district of their own, Calx had offered them to stay with him, just like how Icitine lived with Ketren, and Ashala with Talkon.“I know I’ll beat you next time rock-slinger.” Valkura said in a cocky tone. Calx walked into the main room and saw a small Matoran working on a stone carving.“You’re always working on your carvings.” Thorin said with a smile.“Blast it, Mawlkar. What’s the point of evening sparring if there’s no price for losing?” Calx asked as he walked into the room and saw that Mawlkar had collected all of the supplies that they had betted on having to collect with the fight.“Just thought it’d be fair, to be honest. You guys are always out protecting the city and trying to find a way to bring down the Hunters. I just thought I’d do my part.” Mawlkar said.“And that’s why we love you.” Valkura said as she threw her arms around the Matoran. Unlike the other three, Mawlkar couldn’t turn into a Toa. He was just an average Po-Matoran who enjoyed his friends and liked to keep their secrets safe from the Dark Hunters. “You really should be more careful when you train, they could see you.” He said. “Hear anything from Talkon?” Thorin asked.“No. Either nothing’s going on with the Dark Hunters, or Talkon was killed.” Calx said.“Oh, come on; Talkon? If the Hunters took him down we would have heard something about it on the news. And he has Ashala with him. Those guys are nearly unstoppable together.” Thorin argued.“We’ve protected a lot of Matoran. I guess that’s because of us.” Thorin added.“You mean because of me.” Valkura added. She’d taken the habit of stopping Dark Hunters from harming innocents in an effort to cure her insomnia. It didn’t work.“We shouldn’t worry about those guys. If anything I say we should worry about ourselves. Dark Hunters are bound to go looking for us.” Mawlkar said.“I can take down any troops that come our way.” Calx said.“As strong as you are, Calx, you’re only one Toa.” Mawlkar replied.“Yeah, throwing rocks around isn’t as effective as you’d like to believe.” Thorin added

Chapter Four: Destruction

“So you wanna join the Dark Hunters?” Rockslide asked. He sat in the Dark Hunter’s main base in Metru Nui; which was within the Coliseum. A new initiate was trying to gain access into their ranks. Destruction was known as one of the world’s greatest bounty hunters, and would make a great addition to the Dark Hunters. He still needed to prove himself, however.“We need to see your abilities on the field first.” Rockslide said as he examined Destruction’s profile, Destruction was a fire Skakdi, who was know for his crazed escapades, and the use-age of advanced firearms.“I don’t get a say in who gets to be in our little club, but if you took out one of our pains in the asses, you might be considered.” He continued.Destruction looked at the map on the table before him. It was a picture of the possible location in Po-Metru where the new rock Toa might be hiding. The Toa of stone had caused the Hunters some problems in the recent month, and they were now searching for him.“So you want me to take out the rock chucker?” Destruction asked. He spoke with a heavy Skakdi accent.“That’s the idea. Do that and we might consider you,” Rockslide replied. Destruction took out his Cordak-sniper rifle, and checked the sighting. He turned to Rockslide, who was a Toa of stone himself, though he was a dark Toa. “Afraid of a little competition?” he grinned.“No, I could easily take out this rookie, but I can’t be bothered.” Rockslide said crossing his arms. There had been a simple choice for Toa like him, die or join the Dark Hunters and become a dark Toa, the choice had been only too easy.“I bet you could.” Destruction grinned. “I heard you killed off your whole team of Toa, Ahkmou.” Destruction said, using Rockslide’s Matoran name.“Don’t call me that.” Rockslide said.“I’ll get em’ for ya. No charge.” He said. With that, he slammed a fresh clip into his rifle, and made his way out.“Oh, before you go.” Rockslide said before Destruction left.“We’re sending some help your way. Purgatory; get over here.”A huge Dark Hunter entered the room, his armor was colored gold and bright crimson, his hands ended in long claws, and his mask was broad and powerful looking, two large spikes jutted out of each of the Hunter’s shoulders. On his back were two curved short swords, and his chest was riddled with sheathed throwing knives.“You require my service?” He asked in a sober tone.“Yeah; there’s a load of Vahki waiting outside for you. You’re gonna take them and this gentleman here to Po-Metru.” Rockslide said. Purgatory stared at Destruction, then at Rockslide.“Understood,” He said with a nod. The two then left the building to see a platoon of Vahki Zadakh waiting for them.“You hear that? We’re going be best pals.” Destruction said with a scruffy smirk. Purgatory said nothing, only extending his hand into the thin air. Instantly a small pitch black circle appeared out of thin air. It slowly grew in size until it was the size of a small house. The swirling vortex stood before them in a matter of seconds.“Ladies first,” Destruction said with another smirk. Purgatory simply stepped into the portal. The Vahki soon followed.“What a boring character.” Destruction said. He grabbed his sniper rifle and walked in._______________________________________________________________“You would have made a great Toa.” Valkura said to Mawlkar.Mawlkar laughed to himself. Mawlkar had met Valkura not long ago when she’d moved in with Calx. Mawlkar had been friends with Calx for a long time, and he was still adjusting to his best friend now being a Toa. He already felt at home living with the Toa of lighting and the Toa of gravity, both of them were very high spirited, and quite entertaining.“Thanks.” he said.Destruction was flat on his stomach, looking through the scope of his rifle. “They’re in there alright.” He said to Purgatory. “I see one of em by the window; Po-Matoran. You got a record on him?” He asked. Purgatory was silent for a moment, consulting a tablet.“Yes. His name is Mawlkar. He used is a simple carpenter, he could be the Toa of stone, we are not sure which one is him, from what we’ve heard these new Toa have the ability to shape-shift into Matoran, or something so until we can identify which Matoran our are guys take him out.” Purgatory explained. Destruction smirked.“Guess this earns me some brownie points then.” He said as he looked through the scope.“I’ll take him out first.” He said as he aimed for Mawlkar’s head. He paused a moment, and then lowered his aim to Mawlkar’s left shoulder.“I wanna make this fight last. See what these Toa got.” He stated. He then turned to Purgatory and spoke. “Position the Vahki fifty kilos northwest of this position. Send the first one who attacks there. The Vahki will ambush them.” He said motioning to the spot with a finger.Purgatory nodded in understanding. Destruction then went back to his scope.“Time to get this party started.” He said. He then pulled the trigger.Valkura was helping Mawlkar wash dishes, when she heard a crash. She looked to her right to see the window broken and Mawlkar on the ground.“Blast it! Calx they found us!” She yelled as she ducked and dragged Mawlkar behind a wall for shelter. Calx rushed down to Valkura.“Get down! There’s a sniper!” She yelled. Calx ducked and made a stone dome around them.“Thorin! Go scout outside! Make a force field with your mask!” Calx ordered. The Toa of Gravity got up and obeyed. He sprinted out of the house, and made a force field around them. Instantly a bullet bounced off of it. Thorin caught the flash of a sniper barrel igniting.“They’re two of them the far north of us!” Thorin yelled. Instantly discs and energy blasts from the Vahki rained down on him. Thorin strengthened his force field and watched as the Vahki marched down.Valkura cried beside Mawlkar as he grabbed her hand. He couldn’t be saved.“Valkura we’ve got to go!” Calx yelled.“No!” Valkura shouted. “I’m not leaving him!”“Valkura look at him, there’s nothing we can do! You won’t help him by getting yourself killed!” Calx shot back. Valkura struck Calx in the chest with a lightning covered fist, forcing Calx against the stone wall.“Valkura…” Mawlkar said weakly. “I’m sorry Valkura… I won’t make it to the end with you.”“Don’t say that.” Valkura managed to say through sobs.“Be careful out there, kiddo.” He said, tears welling up in his eyes. With a heavy sigh, Mawlkar was gone. Valkura placed his hands over his stomach. She felt a hand rest on her shoulder and turned to see Calx.“I’m sorry.” He said sincerely. Valkura looked at Calx, Mawlkar had been his best friend, but still he hardly showed any emotion, but that was just how Calx was.“What are we going to do? I think I can draw the sniper’s fire.” She said.“Go ahead and do that, Thorin has the Vahki. I feel another enemy near by; I’ll take care of him.” Calx said. With that, he put a hand to the stone dome, and absorbed it, turning it into a stone sword and charged out of the house with Valkura.Calx ducked as a disc soared over his head. A Vahki tried to hook him with its staff, but Calx dodged it and slashed at the Vahki with his sword, killing it. Another Vahki came up behind him and was about to stab him but a knife flew through the air and impaled itself into the Vahki’s forehead. Toa Calx turned around to see Thorin.“You can thank me later!” Thorin yelled as he used his power to wrench the knife out of the Vahki’s head. He then turned and continued to take down more of the Vahki.Valkura used her mask to augment her speed, charging up the mountain, dodging sniper bullets on her way. Soon she found herself in front of Destruction.“Well, well, well you sure are a quick one.” He said. The Skakdi got up from his prone position and took out a machine gun and opened fire. Valkura leaped behind a rock for cover, and saw that the rounds had engulfed a nearby bush in flames.“Flame rounds Toa. Better not let em hit ya.” The Skakdi said.“Name’s Destruction,”“Toa Valkura.” Valkura replied.“Pleasure to make your acquaintance,” Destruction said as he opened fire. Valkura stayed behind cover; pulling out her Cordak-pistol and returning fire, pistols were Valkura’s preferred weapon. Calx slid along a stone platform until he found the enemy he’d been looking for, a massive Dark Hunter with a powerful looking mask.“Who are you?” Calx asked.“They call me Purgatory.” The Hunter said calmly.“Well that’s a coincidence; because that’s exactly where I’m going to send you!” Calx yelled. He fired several stone shards at the man, but they were countered. Purgatory extended both his arms, and instantly two black portals appeared in front of them. The shards went into one, and then shot out of the other, directly at Calx. Calx blocked them with a stone wall, and kicked the wall at Purgatory. Purgatory combined the two portals into one, which sucked the wall up and disappeared.“Where’d you send that one?” Calx asked.“Oblivion,” Purgatory answered. He then drew two curved short-swords. Calx charged in with his stone sword, and the two entered a fierce battle. Purgatory managed to block and counter all of Calx’s attacks, and kicked him in the chest. Calx soon grew angry, and charged at Purgatory. Purgatory extended both his hands and created another portal, sucking Calx in before he could react. Calx was shrouded in darkness. It felt like he was free floating in space, in no definite area. Where was he? Instantly it grew incredibly cold and Calx landed on something; something very hard. Calx got up to see he was at the top of a mountain. One look off of the edge showed his house and the battle taking place around it. He’d been dropped off somewhere else.“Blast it.” Calx mumbled. He was just about to run back down there when a blast of energy from a Vahki convinced him otherwise. It hit him in the back, doing minor damage but getting his attention. Calx turned to see a large group of Vahki, challenging him.Valkura sent lightning bolt after lightning bolt after Destruction, but he would manage to dodge or take cover from all of them. He would reply fire with his flame rounds, forcing her back. It was a stalemate battle, and it wasn’t getting anywhere.“You can’t keep this up darlin’.” Destruction said as he pulled out a pistol and opened fire just before Valkura could fire at him again. A bullet just barely missed Valkura, grazing her mask and giving her a gash on the side of her mask.“Oh that’s a shame. You were such a pretty one.” Destruction taunted. Valkura fired at him again, but he ducked and rolled under her line of fire, his hand shot forward and he summoned his special Skakdi power, which was the ability to create small orbs of energy that exploded with incredible force.“Blast!” Valkura exclaimed as she dodged the orb of energy. It propelled into a rock behind her, and exploded, sending her off the ledge and rolling down toward the house. Destruction followed her down by sliding down the slope, down toward where the Toa of Gravity was fighting the Vahki and Purgatory.Thorin parried one of Purgatory’s attacks with his dagger, but the Hunter was way too fast to keep up with. Thorin blocked three more strikes, but the Dark Hunter whacked Thorin’s dagger out of his hand and kicked him in the chest.Soon Valkura stumbled in with them. The two stood back to back to back in fighting poses.“We can’t take them,” Thorin said.“Doesn’t mean we’re not going to try,” Valkura replied.“Where’s Calx?” Thorin asked.“We can’t worry about that now.” Valkura said. “We’re surrounded.”The Vahki, Destruction, and Purgatory were about to make their move, but they were interrupted by something landing on one of the Vahki. It was Vahki’s broken body.“Look!” Thorin yelled. Off in the distance, Calx zoomed toward them on a rock platform, firing stone shards at them.“Purgatory, do your thing!” Destruction yelled. Purgatory quickly extended his hands, and created a wormhole. The shards flew into it, and flew out of a second wormhole, soaring toward Calx, who blocked by creating a stone shield. He then landed hard on the ground, sending a large boulder toward Destruction, Purgatory, and the Vahki. He then dug his hands into the stone, and began to rip it apart. Instantly the ground beneath the Dark Hunters agents began to open as well. Destruction, Purgatory, and the Vahki were thrown down the fresh abyss Calx created.“Eat that!” Calx yelled.“Purgatory, do something!” Destruction yelled.“On it,” Purgatory replied. He extended his hands toward the bottom the abyss, creating a portal. He, along with Destruction and three Vahki fell into it, emerging from Purgatory’s second portal, which was right at the ledge of the abyss. They all launched out of the portal, carrying the momentum they had while they were falling. The Dark Hunter group was charging straight for the Toa.Destruction grabbed his machine gun and opened fire with his flame rounds, while Purgatory portaled behind the group and attacked Calx with his short-swords. The Vahki leaped into the air and rained discs and energy blasts down upon them. Thorin created a force-field, blocking the fire, and Calx parried Purgatory’s attacks, and shoulder bashed him while Valkura created a field of electricity, making Destruction’s rounds explode before they hit anyone.“Blast it!” Destruction yelled. He emptied his clip into the group, forcing them to take cover. Calx was about to attack him when Destruction unleashed another blast of yellow energy from the palm of his hand. The orb missed Calx and hit the ground directly near Calx. “Ah!” Calx yelled. He didn’t have time to do anything so he coated his entire body in pure stone, hoping to soften the blow. The orb exploded, and the entire group was sent flying in different directions. The front part of Calx’s stone-armor was blown off, and he was unconscious. Valkura got up to see Destruction walking toward Purgatory. Thorin was up, fighting the Vahki. He’d managed to pick up his knife, and stabbed one of the Vahki in the neck, killing it. A second Vahki tried to blast him, but he dodged it and grabbed its throat, using his ability to keep the Vahki from moving with gravity as he stabbed it in the chest. The third Vahki was hacking away at Thorin. Thorin was slashed across the chest, and fell back. He grabbed his torso to see a large diagonal slash mark on his armor. He tried to get up, but pain shot throughout his body. The Vahki walked up to him, and was going to finish him off with a point blank blast, but Thorin quickly created a force-field, blocking the Vahki’s blow.Thorin then flipped the knife over so that he was grabbing the blade, and threw it straight at Destruction, aiming for his head. The Hunter blocked it by whacking it away with his gun.“So un-experienced; I was hoping for a real fight.” He said as he took aim with his pistol. Valkura used her ability to mask to increase her speed, and bolted toward Destruction at blinding speeds. As she did this, she collected a vast amount of electricity into a small orb. Once it was complete, she charged at Destruction, intending to smash the orb into his chest. Before she could do this, However, Purgatory quickly charged between the two, creating a portal directly in front of him.Valkura’s arm went directly into the portal, and Purgatory created a second portal in front of the first one. Instantly, Valkura’s extended arm came out of the second portal, and struck Valkura directly in her stomach. Purgatory had made Valkura hit herself with her own attack. An enormous explosion of electricity ensued, and Valkura was sent flying backwards, unconscious.“No!” Thorin yelled. He charged at Purgatory, and threw a series of reckless punches at him. Purgatory blocked them all and countered with a knee to Thorin’s gut. He fell to the ground, winded from the blow. Thorin slowly looked up at him, hatred in his eyes.“You’re… monsters!” He yelled. “We’ve done nothing! Nothing! We only want to live in peace! Why can’t you leave us alone?” He yelled. Destruction walked up to him, and crouched down ho his level.“I don’t know too much about your squabble with the Dark Hunters. All I know is that if I take you guys out, I’ll get to join them. If all I got to do is snuff you rats, in order to join the strongest organization in the universe and have a chance to fight some real opponents; then I got no problem doing that.” He said, with a full Skakdi grin.He then kicked Thorin square in the mask, forcing him on his back. He glanced at the house, which had taken severe damage in the crossfire of the battle. His palm flew forward, unleashing a bolt of his energy, part of the house exploded, causing the house to wobble, losing its support. Destruction then glanced at Purgatory.“You know what to do.” He said. Purgatory nodded and stepped forward. He created an enormous portal above the house and parallel to the ground. With a heavy grunt, Purgatory increased the power of the portal, and the unstable house was sucked up into the gateway to oblivion. Soon, nothing remained aside from the pitch black circle in the sky. Calx slowly got to his feet to see Purgatory creating a portal.“Ah dang…” He mumbled. He was going to fire a barrage of stone shards at him, but a second portal opened. Calx looked up to see the wreckage from the house rain down upon himself and his friends.“No!” He yelled bricks, wood, and stone was going to crash straight down on them. Calx was the only one conscious enough to do something. He was going to create an enormous stone dome and protect them all, but they were too far apart for him to make one in time.“This is going hurt.” He said. He created individual stone shields around each of his allies just in time. As he completed the last shield, the entire world collapsed. The debris from the house landed right on Calx before he could defend himself in any way.Valkura was awoken by the dull sound of brick hitting stone. She looked to see that she was in a dome. The ground beneath her rattled as well. Something happened. A closer look at the dome showed that the stone was cracking.“Oh my… Calx!” She yelled. The dome shattered in the next few seconds, and she ran out to see Purgatory and Destruction.“Blast it you guys just don’t give up!” Destruction yelled. Valkura ignored him and looked around at the wreckage. Thorin slowly got to his feet, and looked around too. Calx was nowhere in sight. She was about to charge at them when something caught the corner of her eye: a single arm jutting out of the rubble.“Dang,” She mumbled. She was sure it was who she thought it was.“No, no, no!” She yelled as she ran to the arm. She was soon joined by Thorin, who kept his eyes on the two enemies. Valkura dug through the rubble. She finally found him, and grabbed him out from under the crushed remains of the house.“Mata Nui, Thorin, I think he’s dead.” Valkura said, saying the Great Spirit’s name in vain as she examined Calx.“He’s not breathing.”Thorin could hear the panic in Valkura’s voice. He stared at Destruction and Purgatory with rage boiling in the pits of his soul. He extended his fist, and a huge blast of gravity flew at them. Purgatory absorbed it by creating a black hole. The energy went into it, never to be seen again.“Blast it.” He said under his breath. Valkura slowly got up and faced them.“This is getting old. Purgatory, Finish them off, send them somewhere where they will have no chance of survival.” Destruction said. Purgatory nodded, and created another black hole. This one was the size of the portal that sucked up the house. Valkura and Thorin felt the power of the black hole sucking them in. There was no fighting it.“Never thought it’d end like this,” Valkura said to her fellow Toa. Thorin laughed, despite the situation. They were going to die.“I’m not going down without a fight!” Valkura yelled. With almost all of her strength, she fired an enormous blast of electricity toward the pair. Destruction took cover, but Purgatory had to focus on the black hole, and one of the arcs of electricity struck his hands, breaking his concentration. Purgatory’s black hole transformed into a portal. Hundreds of pictures of locations flashed through his head. The portal was still at the strength the black hole was at, and Valkura, Thorin, and the unconscious Calx were sucked in, transported to an unknown location.“Blast!” Destruction yelled.“We lost them. There is no point in chasing after them; I have no idea where they were transported too.” The voice of Purgatory said. Destruction’s mumbled under his breath as he walked up to the pile of rubble. He noticed a body and walked up to it. Once he realized whose body it was, he smirked.“Sure. Let’s go. We’ll bring back this Mawlkar character’s body as proof that we’ve at least weakened em’.” He said. Purgatory nodded, created a portal and the two found themselves back in the Dark Hunter base.“Let’s get this guy in.” Destruction said as he hoisted the dead Matoran over his shoulder.

Chapter Five: A Changed Universe

Thorin, Valkura, and Calx fell out of the sky, hitting the ground. Thorin got up to see they were in the middle of a street.“Where the heck are we?” Thorin asked as he got to his feet. He noticed some Matoran were giving him weird looks. This wasn’t the time to explain, they needed to get Calx some help. He motioned for Valkura to help him pick Calx up, and the two walked into the nearest building. It was empty, save for one person cleaning a vehicle, it was Lathon; they were in Le-Metru.“Hello? Lathon! Can you help us? Toa Calx's really hurt Thorin said to the Toa.Lathon recognized Calx, Thorin and Valkura instantly, and Toa Calx looked pretty beaten up.“Of course, I'll quick-go and get a first-aid kit. Thorin you help-lie him down! And quick-make yourselves look like Matoran!” he said before rushing off. Valkura nodded and she and Thorin changed back into their Matoran forms. “Thank the Great Spirit...” Valkura said in a tired voice. She helped Thorin lie Calx down on the floor.“Dark Hunters found us and attacked on sight. Two new guys I haven't seen before came out of nowhere. Toa Calx got hurt protecting us, and they killed our Matoran friend Mawlkar.” Valkura yelled to Lathon, worrying about Calx._______________________________________________________________“Special Delivery,” Destruction said in a gruff tone as he held the body of Mawlkar. Dark Toa Rockslide raised a brow behind his mask.“Huh, your brought me a useless dead Matoran. This better be the body of the Toa of Stone who has been causing us problems.” He said, getting up from his desk.“Well, not exactly, but he was with the Toa. He seems to have been their friend, and an average Matoran. The Toa of stone was living with a Toa of lightning named Valkura, a Toa of Gravity named Thorin, and our man, the Toa of stone’s name is Toa Calx.” He chuckled.“Let me guess, they escaped.” Rockslide said trying to contain his fury.“Well, yeah but it’s only because Purgatory’s portal messed up.” Destruction said. “I did give you there names though, and we beat them up pretty bad, that has to count for something.” He said.“So, do I get to be in your club?” Destruction asked. Rockslide shrugged.“Not up to me, but I'll send in a good word to the people upstairs.” Rockslide replied.“Till then you can bunk in the rookie quarters. Put the body down.” He continued.Destruction obeyed, and nodded to Rockslide and Purgatory before leaving.“This feels like the beginning of a beautiful relationship.” He said with a smirk. With that he was gone.Rockslide then pulled a rock out of his pocket and tossed it on Mawlkar's corpse, pointing to it. Instantly the rock melded and shifted, covering the entire body, turning into a concrete coffin.“Take that somewhere to be inspected; would you?” He asked Purgatory. Purgatory obeyed and soon both the coffin and himself left through a portal, leaving Rockslide alone.A few minutes later and Purgatory portaled back into the room, Purgatory surveyed Rockslide behind his golden mask for a moment, his crimson eyes glowing. “You will come with me Rockslide, it is time that we went and retrieved the ex-Hunter Phosphorus. He was sentenced to the Pit, by the Order many years ago, he was mutated beyond recognition, but a newly developed serum created by one of our scientists can cure him, and add him back to our roster.” Purgatory said. Purgatory; was a very secretive Hunter, he was usually very quiet, and he didn’t mind following orders, but when he gave a command other Hunter’s were compelled to follow it. He was higher up than Rockslide; he wasn’t a Hunter that you disagreed with.“Guess it's time to bust that crazy out.” He mumbled to himself. He grabbed his weapons and then stepped into the black portal Purgatory had created. Several minutes later he found himself standing in front of the pit.“What do you know about Phosphorus?” Purgatory asked as he watched the dark waters for a moment that marked the Pit. “I know that’s he’s a nutcase; he wants to see the world burn and all.” Rockslide said. He then stretched his arms, “We don’t have to go down there to find him do we?” he asked. “I don’t want to end up like all the Makuta and Baraki that we sentenced into the Pit, terribly mutated, never allowed to come back to the surface.” He said. “No, our jailer within the Pit told him to swim to the surface; I will then give him the serum so that he may be transformed back to his old self.” Purgatory responded, moving with Rockslide towards the edge of the water.Suddenly a dark figure approached them from within the deep. His armor was a pale grey, with black accents, and he seemed to have been mutated into some sort of strange sea Rahi crossbreed. “I hope he wasn’t that ugly before.” Rockslide said, cracking his knuckles as he spoke.“Ah, was wondering when you would arrive.” The creature said as his head rose above the surface. The first thing Rockslide noticed about Phosphorus was that his eyes were all dark, as if they had been gouged out. The blind psychopath hissed in response, and stood up. “Cure,” Phosphorus said reaching out with a clawed hand.Purgatory handed him a small blue vial, and watched as the creature quickly drank it, before he began to transform. When the transformation was finished he appeared at least more normal. It had been too long since Phosphorus had heard the frightened sobs of an enemy praying for mercy. He cracked his knuckles, and waited patiently to see what his orders were.“Oh; you are quite the eager one.” Rockslide noted.“How did the Pit suit you?” He asked the ex-Hunter “Perhaps you would like to be a free once more, and work once again for the Dark Hunters, if you refuse, then we will kill you now and end it” Rockslide said.Phosphorus chuckled, a horrible scraping noise, and replied, “I would have thought a big organization like yours would do some research before coming here. What reason do I have to follow your rules and regulations? A free hunter does not ally himself to anyone. And the Pit is horrible, thanks for asking, but I have no other choice than to join with the Hunter’s once again, it will be the only way I will get a chance to kill some Toa.” He said.“You will find that the universe has changed much since you were locked away.” Rockslide said.
