Legend of the Shadow

      It was a relatively normal day in Ninjago, the skeleton army had just been defeated and no one had heard anything from Garmadon since that event. But that’s almost irrelevant at this point. Almost. What’s really important is something that seems to be of no significance at all. On that day, the village of Jamanakai was not under the attack of a young boy. In fact, it was a completely normal day. The scroll had been discovered, so there was some fuss over that, but we already knew most of that. What’s also really important is what we don’t know.       Stalking in the shadows was someone nobody knew of. There where rumors, sure. But nobody could ever truthfully say they had ever seen him. Most of the rumors said something about a moving shadow, but nothing more. And that was appropriate enough, he wore a traditional ninja outfit in black. He liked it that way, it was less complicated. But, there is a downside, when something goes wrong on the one day somebody sees you, well, things can get real complicated, real fast.      You see, something went missing from a store in Ninjago. The ninja had heard something was going down, and went to intervene. Unfortunately for our shady character, he was currently in possession of the stolen item and had no alibi. The ninja had managed to spot the apparent culprit and attacked. In the fight, it was made extremely clear that the unnamed ninja was very well trained. Had it not been for the golden weapons, he probably would have escaped. The four ninja had managed to trap him in a stone prison, and immediately started questioning him.      “Mind telling me where you got that?” said Kai in an accusing tone.      “From the guy who stole it.” He spat back. He sounded irritated.      “Then why did you run when we chased you?” this time it was Zane.      “Because any sane person runs away from people who are running to attack them.” He dropped the item. “Happy?”      “Come on guys, let’s return this.” Kai proceeded to walk away.       “Where are you going, shouldn’t you free him?” this time it was Sensei Wu. He was wearing a stern look. It was clear the question was rhetorical. “In fact I think I may even recruit him.”      “Why?! Do you think he’s the green ninja?” Kai really didn’t want to drop that apparently. The other ninja had chosen to stay silent.      “Actually, I was thinking you could learn something from him. But, now that you mention it, you may be right.” The sensei’s response had infuriated Kai. Sensei Wu grabbed the item out of Kai’s hands, demanded that Cole free the still unnamed ninja and requested he return it as he was doing, than whispered something in his ear and headed for the base, the ninja following behind him.       When Kai looked back the mysterious black clad ninja had vanished. He grumbled, but said nothing. A quiet conversation began to unfold between the four ninja, most of them agreeing that the mysterious ninja was not to be trusted.       Back at the ninja’s base of operations, they were told to further their training while Sensei Wu took care of some business. They were unaware the mysterious ninja was already there. He had met the Sensei in a secluded room. After rummaging through some stuff, he produced a green ninja uniform.“I apologize, but we already have a black ninja, I believe this may make everyone’s life a bit simpler.” He told the ninja in a dead serious tone.       The ninja put on the uniform, noticing how well it fit. Almost like a glove.“Won’t this-“ he was interrupted. “That is not for you to worry about.” The Sensei left the room.       He began his training almost immediately. But it was clear he did not need it. He had mastered almost everything the Sensei had to teach him, and his spinjitsu was top notch. The other ninja made no attempt at hiding their frustration. Though Sensei Wu was quick to point out that it did not matter who defeated Garmadon, but rather that he was defeated.       After several weeks of intense training, he had mastered all of the elements. The other ninja had long since stopped complaining, but had yet to accept the ninja as one of them. Though that did not seem to faze him whatsoever, and given the chance, he would go hide somewhere for hours on end in order to get some peace. He did that often, sometimes to the point of making the others think he had run off for good. He also refused to give his true name, going only by shadow.       In a short amount of time, Nya alerted the ninja that lord Garmadon had been spotted in Ninjago city and was causing immense damage to the area. Upon arrival, the group discovered he had a companion. The companions name was Lloyd, and he had also gone through some intense training. The four ninja took on Lloyd, who clearly was not to even their caliber, and the armor clad figure was left to the green ninja. The fight was a tough one, and no amount of training could have prepared the young warrior enough for it. Regardless of that, he was able to hold his own, but his strength was running low, the fight in his eyes was fading to weariness.       In a last ditch effort, he tackled Garmadon to the ground. The scene was immediately covered in a ball of light, and as quick as it appeared, it vanished. The five figures ran to see what happened. What they saw was a new figure, and a ninja dressed in black. But the black was not the color he once wore, it was a tainted, oily black. If evil had a color, it was most certainly the same. The other figure, after some explaining by Wu was garmadon, stripped of his evil, and glad to see his son, who was very befuddled at what happened, not to mention his momentary disdain of the ninja.       In all the excitement, the “green ninja” was almost forgotten. In what appeared to be a combination of hatred, anger and fear, he bulldozed through the ninja and ran off.     In a place that almost no one knew of, an evil voice laughed with delight.       For it is said, what was once light, will return to the light, and what was once shadow, will return to the darkness. thank you for reading! please leave a comment, and don't be afraid to be brutally honest.If you have any questions feel free to ask. Very nice! I love the fact that it takes place in the same order of events as the original Ninjago story. Interesting how the Serpentine never got released. That's a major plot twist alright! ^^ Also, Lloyd being a well-trained companion of Lord Garmadon was perfect, however I believe Garmadon saying he never wanted Lloyd to be evil. I guess that doesn't really matter, since this is fanon. Still, a great job. Good luck in the contest!

Very good story! I enjoyed the introducion of a new character instead of making a new character altogether! However, I would like a name for this "black-clad" ninja!

Damian could be cool. It's a Victorian-era name. Also has a sort of dark sound to it. Also Damian is the name for the priest in the Exorcist movies, and the possessed kid in the Omen movies. If you want something simpler, Ash or Asher could be cool, since it's dark in color, and has some elemental resemblance.
