organic kiina (blender 3d)

I've always wanted to make an organic glatorian, so a few months back I started on a project to make Kiina as I imagined her to look. It's taken quite a while, but I finally finished and have something to show! A lot of people may not like this, because it strays very far from her set representation, but hopefully some of you will be able to look at it as just one way she might be represented. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thank you! high res: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/816136s/Kiina3D/kiinafinal.pngIt is all made in blender, except the sky, which is stock from prints-of-stock on -Sorry, no mentioning of sites with forums-Please link to images over 500 kB. -B6

That's a beautiful rendering - you've achieved a wonderful representation of Kiina and frankly I would love to see some more views of this masterpiece. I think the deviations from the set are for the better - it makes a more realistic interpretation rather than the cartoon that a more set-like appearance would. Nicely done.

This looks really good! The armor and scales are brilliant, and it almost looks like you incorporated the life-counter as a shield of some sort on her back. Very cool.

Although, the only nitpick I have is the scales (or lack thereof in some cases)--The hands look normal, and the scales on the face seem to stop too abruptly. If the scales continued over the rest of the face, it might look better. Same with most of the other bare spots.

But aside from that, this looks great! Is that a rendering of armor over an image of an actual person, or is the whole thing (aside from the scenery) part of the model? Either way, it turned out great!

Whoa, awesome. I rather like it. It's rather reminiscent of the bio-organic style of the old movies, only in reverse. She looks like an organic creature with robotic implants, which is what folks of Bara Magna are supposed to be. Love the dramatic pose and background, too.

I suppose my biggest complaint, though, is how human she looks. It might be better if she were completely scaled, or at least more so. I like the human eyes, though, and of course you don't want her to look too animalistic. I wonder how it might work to base the face off of the actual Glatorian head pieces? But I guess Hero Factory uses those too, and they do look perhaps a bit too robotic. Still, it would add to the "Bara Magnan look" of her.

I like the design of the clothes and armor, too, and that trident is awesome. Might I ask what program you used for this?

The hands and head seem out of proportion to the hips, but this is still beautiful. Most people are talking about how human it is and that it's a bad thing, though I think - and this is probably my inner cosplayer deconstructing this and attempting to make it easy to make - it's not human enough.

Ah it's gross. Just because what it is. You did an excellent job making the render though. Just creeps me out lol :)

dude, I like your artwork! Very artistic, I really like the way you imagined her. I think its good that you didnt make the armor blue, but her body parts are sorta tinted in blue. :D Overall great work IMO!

If I didn't know better, I'd say this almost looked like an actual photo of someone! I actually like how human it looks. It makes me wonder what the other Glatorian would look like if these human characteristics added to them. The only complaint I have about it is that she could use a little more blue on her chest armor, but aside from that this is a really cool drawing!

Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story.

I have to agree that this is by far the best representation of an organic Spherus Magnan that I've seen.

This is brilliant.

This is how TLR should've been. I love how it's got that John Carter-esque vibe with a little bit of Japanese monster injected into it.

In other words, this is what 2009 would've been had Bob Thompson stayed with the story team.

Were I a man of decent income, I would fund the furtherment of this concept.

Well, not knowing what that meant, I wanted a more specific answer, but silly me, I should have looked it up. Now I did and now I know. :)

Whoo-ee, it looks like a looot of work went into this model.

I'm actually almost blown away by the degree of realism which you were able to achieve with that render. The texturing on her entire body looks extremely tangible, particularly on her forearms and thighs.

I think that I recognize your name; were you ever involved with Bionicle: Next Generation?

Aside from the other little things some others have pointed out already, I absolutely love this. It's SOOOO much more story accurate than the sets or the character models in TLR ever were. Although I would imagine the face being a bit more alien, it's almost how I'd imagine a typical Bara Magnan being. And those instantly recognizable Rahkshi shins on her arms are just too cool.
