IC:"No, it isn't." Firen sighed, setting a few widgets down on the counter, standing, and turning to Alyia. "Come on, boss. Let's get you out of here. I don't think you're in the shape to stick around."

IC: Alyia

"Right!" She agreed, bolting up to standing fast enough to warrent the possibility that she used her lightspeed ability. As it was, it probably wasn't the best choice, seeing as she almost immediately tipped to the side. Thankfully, a Toa of Data was conviently placed to break her fall, and stop her from hitting the ground. "Firen, the ceiling is tilted now, this can't be right."

Perhaps she should've stayed seated... at least untill her sense of balance came back.

IC:Firen steadied his boss with a hand on her shoulder, sighing to himself. It was less that he was helping her balance, and more that he was keeping her from falling over altogether."Yes, boss, that's because you're drunk. Come on, let's get you out of here. If you can't walk, just lean on my arm."

The Toa of Light did just that... sorta. Alyia more of grabbed onto Firen, wrapping her arms around him as she used the Toa of Data for support. Well, at least she wasn't in any danger of falling anymore, right? "It's still spinning, Firen," she said, sounding slightly worried about the fact that her reality couldn't decide on which was was up and which way was down.

"I know. Let's take this one step at a time, alright?" The Toa of Data took a slow step forward, keeping a hand on her shoulder in case she started to fall. Not that it was a likely possibility, considering the grip she had on his torso.

IC: Kratnik

Kratnik leaned up against the wall in the cave with Nara and Lori. They were talking about trying to get more members, and Kratnik wasn't going to interrupt them. He then got up, and said, "What exactly are we robbing? Whatever we are, I want to take care of the guards. The cannon helps."

IC: Alyia

"Let's go on an adventure~"

Um, yeah.

Alyia had been doing a pretty good job at keeping herself together before, but now... Not so much. Well, it wouldn't last forever. It seemed that the combination of excess amounts of stress and the Sting was really starting to have an effect on her. She really was having it hard, a lot more than people knew.

Much more.

IC: Toruk

Toruk left the antique shop to get a quick drink before he went to the casino to try and open a branch of Graner's Antiques there. The shop had a large surplus of items, and Graner was looking for a place to sell them. Toruk sat down, and ordered a Takanuva Special.

IC: Trunai

Trunai left the Jaga-Sting and got in his car. He started to drive back to his hotel, which he had to check into. He slowly drove, commenting on how he was lucky that not many people were out and about. He left his car and entered the hotel. After checking in and getting to his room, he fell onto his bed. He would visit the archives tomorrow.

IC:"Come on." FIren said, ignoring her protests, and leading her toward his parked vehicle. The anti-theft lock disengaged with a single thought, and the vehicle roared to life as they approached. The Toa of Data swung one leg over, sliding his hands into the grooves on the sides of the motorcycle."Alright, boss. Get on, and hang on tight. But not Pakari-tight, alright? I like having ribs."

The Toa of Light managed to get on the bike after Firen without much difficulty, somehow. Regardless, she did as instructed, and wrapped her arms around the Toa of Data's torso. Fortunately for Firen, she didn't sqeeze the life out of him, though then again, Alyia wasn't exactly in a state to focus enough to activate her Kanohi.

IC:The instant Firen touched his hands to the contact points, he felt the familiar jolt as information flowed into his mind. His five senses, six if one counted his element, instantly became eight, magnified as the vehicle became all but an extension of his body. He could feel the exact movements as the engine worked, he could feel the inherent speed. He knew instantly where he was on the globe, thanks to the integration of the GPS.

The first time he'd ever tried to use it had been disorienting, even more so than the rest of his powers. He'd had to learn slowly and steadily how to make use of everything, and how to tune out the unneeded input.

With a thought, he accelerated, the bike going from a standstill to street speed in less than a second. He maneuvered through traffic with ease, darting past cars where needed, and continually moving forward. But he kept an eye on Alyia the whole time. She wasn't exactly sober, and he needed to make sure she didn't accidentally let go.

IC:"Eltair."

A voice crackled on, emanating from the moving vehicle. The mikes didn't actually crackly when they activated anymore, but Firen had modified his to have the little soundbyte as it turned on. The lengths one went to for nostalgia.

"Yeah?"

"There's an armed robbery in progress on seventy fifth. You're off duty, but most of the other people we'd send are dealing with a double homicide across the city."

The Toa of Light perked up as the voice came over the radio. She listened carefully for a moment, until...

"Is that Hyrak?" She asked Firen, before adding rather loudly, "HELLO HYRAK."

If it weren't for the fact that she was currently gripping the Toa of Data tightly, Alyia probably would have waved.

IC: LoriEveningCentral CityLight filled the glass front doors of the bank across the street. Lori, from where crouched in the shadows of an alley, could see a security guard sitting behind a desk, probably reading a book considering his position. Kratnik had been ordered to a nearby rooftop; he now waited for the cue to begin firing. Naka stood behind and to the left of Lori, her expression thoughtful behind the Vahi she had been granted to bring the trio to the present day.The guard behind the desk shifted slightly and glanced at what was presumably his tablet's clock. Another security officer appeared, his mouth moving as if he were in a silent film, and the one sitting down nodded and responded with something equally inaudible.Portions of the lane were illuminated with street lamps, but between the fuzzy coronas of light, there was room enough for Lori, with his Volitak and shadow powers, to slip between them and to one side of the doors. He turned visible momentarily and nodded to the rooftop across the street and to the left of the doors. The shot blasted through one of the glass panes. The guards started and, as Lori had hoped, called for backup and ran out of the bank in the direction of the shot. Two occupied, an uncounted number to go.Lori signaled to Naka and darted inside and behind the security desk.OOC: Minor bunnying.

OOC:

I thought we were robbing a casino, not a bank. Also, Kratnik's blasts are more of a mental energy sort of thing. I have a solution that I put in my post, however.

IC: Kratnik (Ga-Koro Nui)

The guards ran out of the bank after Kratnik fired his ice blast into the window. He aimed his cannon-arm at one of the guards and fired started to charge the gun. After waiting for a while, he fired the blast. The guard crumpled and the other looked up. Kratnik froze him in a block. He then charged another blast and hit the other with it. He ran down the fire escape and saw that one was a Pakari-wearing To. Kratnik grabbed the mask and put it on. He lifted both of the guards up and ran up the stairs, dumping them on the roof. He put his Huna back on, and started to observed the mission, his cannon-arm at the ready.

OOC: I actually envisioned Kratnik's cannon-arm as firing energy blasts; I didn't intend for shot to mean bullet or something similar. As for the casino, apparently I forgot. Dangit. Well, I have two retconning options: 1. Robbing a bank might be a better idea because there are fewer witnesses, and / or 2. a nearby casino might stash its money in that bank.IC: LoriEveningBank, Central CityWith the guards gone, Lori accessed the computers behind the desk. The security officer, thankfully, had already logged into the security cameras. Not so thankfully, accessing more sensitive information such as bank accounts required other passwords.Oh well. Lori couldn't digitally access any accounts, but he could see the other three guards en route to the front desk via a hallway from the vaults."Naka, hide," he said, running for a broom closet at the neck of the hallway. "I'll distract them."He had pulled the door open when the first enemy gunshot was heard. The bullet struck the side of the door opposite from Lori. He winced, repeated the action as another bullet struck the metal with a clang, and leaped into the closet, pulling the door shut behind him. When the guards pulled open the door and fired, their shots struck nothing but cleaning appliances bathed in gloom."He's in there," said one guard, firing a last, exasperated shot into the mop. "Probably has a Huna or something. You'd think it'd've deactivated after we shot him up like Swiss cheese, but--"Chink. He yelped and collapsed. A throwing star was embedded in his neck. The second guard only had time for one more gunshot before Lori emerged from his shadow and impaled him. That was more than a distraction, but hey, you took what you could get in Mata Magna.Lori didn't want to leave the bodies there, but he was running out of time. Naka was under strict orders from Scorum not to share her time manipulation powers with any of the other thieves or use it specifically to advance the mission; Lori cursed Scorum's desire to "test" his gang and ran for the vaults. OOC: Still a little locked up in limbo over the

IC: Skrall / Wastelands ---> Watchtower

In the great wastelands around the city, dusk crept slowly but steadily over the landscape, painting a dark picture illustrating the dark side to the unfeeling industry that Central City had been formed by. As the first starlight began to pierce the veil of daylight and bring forth the night, and the beautiful crescent moon rose in its waxing form from beyond the great hills that covered the area. Flanking the side of one of the many roads to stretch through the area - an old supply route from the Skrall wars - there was an ominous watchtower.

What Skrall found disturbing was the fact that no lights shone from the tower. In fact, it appeared to be utterly abandoned. This wouldn't have surprised him in normal circumstances (he could easily see the Central City guard abandoning this place, due to how seemingly worthless it was), but this was a special case - he had seen the watchtower occupied only days before, in his last stakeout of the place. He knew that the place had been under heavy guard by Toa, Glatorian, Matoran... all sorts like that.

Laying prone along a hillside, he turned back to see how many of the Skrall were still following him, and said, "I don't like this - I'm going in to take a closer look. Anyone else who's willing, follow me. Anyone else, keep watch. For the Skrall."

IC: Nakenah / Central City

After those final words with the priest, Nakenah pretty much just awkwardly walked off, faking a chuckle at the joke that had not been taken as being very funny and not really feeling the whole thing that had just happened. As she walked on, her communicator buzzed, and she quickly moved to retrieve it.

"Yes?"

"Operative Nakenah, since you have apparently vacated your office again... there's a bank robbery occurring just a few blocks away from where you are. Do not engage any enemies you encounter unless necessary. Someone else was called in for that party of the investigation. Just watch to find out whatever happens."

Finally! Something interesting had happened around here. She nodded her head and replied, "Yes, sir. Operative out."

Nobody ever actually said that except for in movies, but she saw those more often then she got a call in for something. Usually it was a face to face directive. Nevertheless, she stepped back into a nearby alley and focused on the shadows quite a while down the street. Almost instantly, she dissolved into the inky blackness, leaving a trail of shadow as she reappeared via her shadow powers from the shadows a good way away - and freaking out a few people in the process, before once again vanishing and moving to the rooftop.

From there, she could see the bank that was being mentioned. She moved into the shadows once more, vanishing.

Just to be clear, is that bank the one me, Legolover, and Elvis are robbing, or someplace else? Because if it is the same bank, there are two problems with your post. 1. The banks in Ga-Koro Nui, and 2. Kratnik is on the roof.

IC: Graner

The tourists came in and walked up to the counter, "Hello, we are from Central City. Do you have any rare weapons from the Matoran Universe?" Graner activated his Arthron and saw that they were a Toa and Glatorian. He said, "Yes. LEt me find something." Graner started to browse the shelfs and grabbed one shield. He said, "This is the staff from a Vahki. It costs will cost 800 dollars. What do you think?" The Toa picked up the took the shield, and said, "I would like something with a little more oomph, if you know what I mean." Graner nodded and went into the backroom. He came out holding a long staff. He said, "This is the staff from a Heat Vision Rahkshi. This item will cost 500 dollars." The Glatorina picked it up and said, "I like this one. Does this provide any powers?" Graner shook his head and said, "Normally we sell actual weapons, but those require background check. The person that does those is out today, so I can only sell you this one." The duo paid, and left the antiques shop.

OOC: As pertaining to the first part, it appears that you know something that you're not telling us (by us I mean me). Apparently it's bad conduct around here to assume that one person saying something makes it true, and I'm getting two different things being stated.

As for the second, there is more than one roof if the vicinity, is there not? She need not make her way to the top of the same roof Kratnik is on, does she? I mean, you could try to take a shot at her or notice her or something, if you really want that to happen. Attacking a Toa of Shadows at night might not be the best idea though.

IC: Kinksh / Ga-Koro-Nui

There was a brief beep as a communicator awakened the Toa from his comfortable rest. "Yes?" he asked, pushing his finger onto a button on the communicator to convey his message.

"One of our eyes spotted a robbery in Central City. We don't know who's doing it, but it's not us, and not something scheduled by anyone else who's currently in conversation with us, either."

"Ignore it. We don't want to draw any attention to ourselves. If anything, find a way to help the guards catch them. I have no interest in competition."

"So be it, Golden Hammer."

Communicator off.

OOC: My fault for the confusion, Lev and Canis. Sorry.IC: LoriEveningBank, Central CityThere were more guards ahead, Lori was certain, but they were hiding somewhere in the hope of an impromptu ambush.Lori almost laughed, but he was on a tight schedule that didn't include mirth. He stuck his retrieved throwing star into his belt as he ran down the hallway. Naka followed stealthily enough a ways behind: in Lori's eyes, like a nanny watching her young charge play. Lori could almost hear her unspoken insistence of testing him and grimaced. His ebony armor gleamed underneath the harsh glare of the hall's artificial lightstones like a beacon, and his grimace extended. If the Toa of Shadow was right, the elevator at the end of the hallway would bring him and Naka down into the vault. He slid to a halt by the sliding doors, paused in consideration, and reluctantly hit the down button. As the elevator doors opened, Lori heard the faint sound of sirens."Be fast," he told Naka as she boarded the elevator with him; "hit the button for the vaults and follow me" -- and he set an example by opening the panel at the top of the elevator before the doors had shut. He leaped up and through the opening, waited for Naka to clamber through as well, and placed the panel back into position.A second later, he heard the hiss of the doors opening. He waited. The guards who were surely stationed in the vault also waited. Seconds passed. Then he heard a voice, muffled by the metal but not inaudible: "Steady. Probably a trick."Yes, Mr. Officer, this is a trick. Thanks for noticing.Cursing his shortsightedness, Lori looked back up the shaft to the set of doors just above. "Hold on," he told Naka, and he leaped so he could grip the bottom edge of the door. He pulled himself up and peered through the gap between the doors. If the other side was dark enough...It was, but barely. "Hold tight," Lori whispered to Naka before letting himself be dissolved by the shadows.Dissolution was a curious feeling. Suddenly, Lori's body was no longer inhibiting. His body had become darkness. He was darkness. His only barriers, albeit ones he felt significantly, were those of light. He flowed through the shadow between the elevator doors and materialized -- if you could call it that -- on the other side. Now Lori activated his Volitak and ran down the hallway to the set of doors that led to the stairs. If he was quick enough, if he was silent enough, if he was lucky enough, and if the vaults were dark enough, the security guards below would never see him coming. Edited by Legolover-361

OOC: okie-dokie kids, I'm back, per Legolover's request. Figured I would be nice an oblige. Enter third party.

IC

"Attention all units, burglary in progress, Central City Bank. All available units please respond."

"Dispatch, this is Mobile Unit 42, en-route to location."

"Eltair. Yeah? There's an armed robbery in progress on seventy fifth. You're off duty, but most of the other people we'd send are dealing with a double homicide across the city."

"HELLO HYRAK."

"Copy that dispatch, but we're tied up in a raid down on thirty-second, will respond asap... "

Well, at least Houren's radio worked. Or at least the copied version of it.

I sat on a rooftop, listening to the police band explode with chatter as the local law enforcement attempted to scramble what they had to stop this latest break-in. Unfortunately most of the units were either busy with others problems or currently off-duty. But I wasn't here simply listening in on cop banter.

I was here following a trail.

Let's back up a bit.

After that sit-in with the professor, I had spent all my spare time working on that time device, even going to far as to close my shop temporarily... not that it mattered. The device, when activated at low levels, created a time-distortion field that made time inside move significantly faster than outside - giving me a full week of work in the span of a day or two. Piles of books, endless online searches, dozens of research papers and experimentation... but in the end it all paid off.

I glanced down at myself, still not sure if I liked the end result. I managed to scope down the size of the device to something that could be easily worn on a person; "easily worn" still a stretch. No matter the design or how small I could make the central conduit, it still required obnoxious amounts of fiber-like wire emitters to generate the field. Whether it was a design flaw or a way to make it unwieldy and prevent personal use I didn't know, but I created a solution - one that I hated. It was a suit, and a rather flattering one at that. There were very few materials out there that I could effectively weave the fibers into without hindering or damaging them, plus they needed to be a certain proximity and layout to work properly.

Simply put I looked like a vigilante super-heroine.

I was black from head to toe, silver conduits wrapped and woven in my bodysuit that horridly displayed my curves. Granted, it was suspiciously comfortable and did not hamper movement in the slightest, but I cursed inwardly at how feminine I looked, the way it hugged my body. Yet it was one of the few ways I could make a functional time-traveling suit that did not include robotic exo-armor hydraulic assistance. The one saving grace was the helmet that came with it, hiding my face as giving me an HUD of the suit's functions. At least no one would know it was me if they managed to get a glance.

That still didn't answer the main question why was I here and what trail could possibly get me into this ridiculous outfit? Easy.

The media.

Yes, the all-knowing ever-friendly mass-distributer-of-misinfomration. Bought and paid for by the government. Everything they said was carefully filtered, just so that there was enough truth to tell the people of events that really happened, but left out or twisted the real reasons behind it. So I didn't watch the news to find out what was happening; I watched it to figure out what they were lying about. And there had been a very interesting rash of attacks and robberies lately. Nothing truly out of the ordinary, but there were enough things that made them stand out, just enough cover up to make me curious. They were too efficient, too well orchestrated, without virtually any evidence, and my contacts in the underworld told me the cops were stumped. Even more, rumors of a new power coming to down and a string of disappearances was enough to get my old friends jittery... and trust me, that is NOT an easy thing to do. So the last few nights I had been staking out ground here in Central City, waiting and hoping at a few prime locations for my hunch to pay off.

Looks like my patience was finally rewarded. I would find out what's been going on and what they haven't been telling us. Not to mention try out my new toy.

Standing up from my kneeling position I began to jog, increasing in speed and I broke into a run on my rooftop. As I did I began to subtly pump electrical energy into the suit, activating it's higher functions. As my speed increased so did the power, and the moment I leaped off the roof I hit the critical point.

Somewhere midair between buildings there was a pinprick of light as I vanished.

* * *

Just because you are a genius mechanic DOES NOT mean you are a master physicist.

The suit worked perfectly. One moment I was jumping rooftops, the next I had instantly traversed time and space to inside the bank. The problem wasn't the suit; it was operator error. I was still mastering the little idiosyncrasies of this blasted contraption, and the moment I materialized I realized I wasn't where I wanted to be. According to my calculations, I should have either been inside or right next to the vault. But I wasn't. Still, I must have been close considering the architecture but-

"OOOF!"

I felt someone slam into me from behind, like a linebacker tackling a ball-carrier, and despite my best efforts I could hear my own voice squeak out loud. After the collision the tumbled and rolled down the hallway together as one large mass before finally pulling apart. Both of us were up in an instant and-

Oh boy.

I found myself staring down a Volitak-wearing Shadow Toa... and clearly he wasn't one of the good guys. Which meant he was the robbers. To be honest I didn't know who was more surprised at this engagement; me or him. Seconds ticked away as we just stood there, hunched slightly, wondering what to make of this. Good thing I had this helmet on so he couldn't see my face...

But the rest of me left little for imagination. Makutaspawn. Stupid suit.

My fingers twitched, and my duel chain whips slid down my arms, lightning crackling up and down the fine metal links. I didn't hate Shadow Toa personally, just their powers were obnoxious. At least my own powers produced light, which would even the odds... slightly. I shifted, a long breath escaping my helmet.

"Here for the sights or for the cash?"

Living large... like clown-shoe size large. Complete with nose, rainbow-colored hair, and a bottle of seltzer water.

IC: LoriEveningBank, Central CityBam.The Karz--?Lori tumbled to the ground, barely catching himself with his arms before he landed on the black-clad feminine figure beneath him. His mind caught up with his body a second later, and he abruptly remembered there had been no one in the hall a second before. He froze."Here for the sights or for the cash?" asked the woman, her body language suggesting suspicion. That, and the lightning whips that extended from her arms."I came expecting one and got the other," responded Lori, standing a little more slowly than was prudent and backing away, hands held up, palms outward, to show his unwillingness to harm her. Naka would probably throw a fit -- that is, if she were capable of acting outwardly angry, which many people doubted -- but this stranger had appeared out of thin air, a nifty trick..."And you?" asked Lori, glancing to the stair doors.

IC: Kratnik [Central City- Across from bank]

The sirens of the police vehicles wailed. Kratnik looked down from his perch, and then activated his Huna. Be careful to remain silent, he ran down the fire escape and made it to the bottom. He ran a good distance away, and stood against a wall. Across the street, a crowd was gathering, watching the TVs in a store window. Kratnik walked over and saw the feed was of the bank.

IC: N# 1134 [Central City- Police Station]

1134 stood in the police office, watching the robbery in progress on the TV. He and the other detectives were of no use in this situation, so they just decided to watch. 1134 turned to the chief and 'said', I want to investigate this if they somehow escape. Permission granted? The chief nodded his head, and 1134 turned back to the TV. His natural Energy Hound abilities were of major help in investigating. He was one of the best detectives on the force. Give him an energy signature, and he could find anyone, no matter where they were.

IC [Central City Bank; evening] "I came expecting one and got the other." Cute. Ok, honestly, I should've expected an answer like that, but still, it stung. Despite the remark his response was more mellow and cool than I predicted. He stood up a little, moving slowly and prudently, backing away with hands held up, palms outward, in an attempt to show his apparent unwillingness to harm me. "And you?" he finally asked, glancing a look to the stair doors. Clearly he wanted to move on, but was unwilling to engage... at least at the moment. Gentleman thief? Pretty unbelievable, but I suppose it COULD happen. Look at me. Stranger things have happened.

I could play this game, see where it went. Not like I had to be anywhere.

Alternating the current in my chain whips I induced a mild magnetic field and watched as my whips wrapped around my arms like pet snakes to an owner. Not that I liked snakes; I hated them. Made for a good metaphor though. The handles were still in my palms however as I relaxed slightly, showing him my willingness to talk but not giving up any advantage.

"Figuring out who has been making the nightly news recently." I quipped dryly, speaking through my tinted helmet. I lifted my chin slightly as I nodded at him. "Rule number one: never believe what the media say about what's going on. Let's just say I am a concerned citizen wondering about the recent rash of attacks and robberies recently, who's behind them... and what's really going on here."

I stood up fully, resting my fists on my hips. "Let's just say I distrust everyone equally; no offense. Why you after the people's money?"

IC: LoriEveningBank, Central CityThe fact that this woman felt the need to ask Lori why meant there was a chance to make her empathize. To be fair, Lori was not a particularly empathetic figure, and Lori robbing a bank even less so. That didn't stop him from trying."A couple casino owners have accounts here," he said, thinking quickly. "All I'm doing is getting a loan for my -- our revolution. 'We' being the people who have decided protection doesn't also involve infringement of privacy."

IC [Central City Bank; evening]

Hm.

I stood across from him, mulling that over, the hall quiet except for the distant wails of security alarms. A revolution?

A few more things were beginning to make sense.

"I... dunno." I said thoughtfully, taking a half-step towards him, my mind whirling to engage this Toa in this ensuing battle of wits. "I'm all for taking from the rich and giving it to the needy, I've done it before, but not at the cost of anarchy. There is a difference stealing from a rich crook who made their living off the unlawful backs of others, and then others making it off of others stupidity and greed... not to mention lack of math skills. Besides, from what you said, I highly doubt you'll give that money to some old lady who can't pay her rent."

I lowered my chin. "A revolution, eh? Money to fund it, but is it a worthy cause? Where is it going? Like I said, I don't support anarchy despite appearances. Convince me of that and I'll reconsider."

IC: LoriEveningBank, Central City"Not anarchy." Lori glanced again to the stairwell doors, speaking quickly and softly. "Freedom. The Turaga are senile. They think we're just their grandchildren. We have no say in whether they continue ruling or not. And how many secrets do you think they keep from us?"He walked slowly by her, his footsteps making almost no sound. "We aren't anarchists. We're freedom fighters. The ends justify the means, don't they?"Now standing by the doors, he faced the woman once more. The space behind the doors was dark enough for him to slip through if necessary. "Well?"
