Prologue

Dume looked out onto New Atero with pride. Over years, the Toa Nuva had come together to form it, and with the 7 Turaga at the helm, the mere concept of a city became a mighty fortress safe from evils. However, Dume couldn't help but be reminded of Metru Nui- and his time as a Toa. He couldn't help but consider telling of these tales, when suddenly, Vakama passed by. "Turaga Vakama, I wish to call a meeting...", Dume said, as Vakama walked by the balcony. Vakama hadn't noticed the eldest Turaga and jumped a bit. "Don't scare me like that, Dume.", he said, chuckling a bit. "So, what is this meeting for?", the Turaga of Fire asked. No threats were found recently, so what meaning could this council meeting have?

In the dead of night, the 7 Turaga formed a circle around a fire on top of the palace. "Turaga, just as you shared your past with the Toa Nuva, the time has come for me to share my past with you. My story is a hard one, of betrayal, corruption, and darkness. By the time I have revealed all, perhaps you will have a new outlook on your position of power- for power can corrupt anyone, from the mightiest Toa to the eldest Turaga.", Dume said, looking somber. The other six Turaga remained silent, uncertain of what this tale would bring. Dume sat down and began to tell his tale.

Chapter 1: Mysterious Lights

Toa Dume was in the middle of a heated battle with a Rahi, along with his teammates. "Be cautious, guys- we've already lost too many Toa,", he said, being unusually cautious. Next to him, creating stone walls to try and slow the Rahi down, was Jekyzi, a Toa of Stone. "Since when have you been so careful, fire-spitter? I thought you were always running into trouble like a fireflyer to a light.", the brown armored Toa said, smirking under his mask. "Look, just be careful! This is a Muaka we're dealing with, and we've already had quite a body count when it comes to dealing with Rahi!", Dume snapped, firing large fireballs at the cat-like Rahi. Suddenly, a squad of local Rorzakh arrived. They gestured that they would fight the Rahi, and pointed to the exit. Dume and his fellow Toa quickly escaped, looking at the Rorzakh as they dealt with the Muaka. Was it wrong to leave them in charge of such an issue?, Dume thought to himself, looking back for a moment.

In the Coliseum, the 7 remaining Toa gathered with Turaga Akrah. "Toa Metru, there has been a shocking discovery on the island.", the Turaga said in a grand tone, gesturing for 2 Ta-Matoran. One of them, wearing a Pakari, held out a silver Avohkii. The Toa looked in awe as the Turaga explained. "They found it washed up on the shores of Ta-Metru, from some far away land. I have chosen to let one of you wear it.", Akrah said. "Toa Brinzi, come forth." Brinzi was slacking off as usual when he had been chosen for the Avohkii. Ever since he was a Matoran he enjoyed blowing off his responsibilities of chute repair for a quick fly through the chutes of Le-Metru. "Me? Why, Turaga, I'm humble-honored.", he said, smiling as he took off his Great Sanok and attached the silvery mask where it once was. He felt light coursing through him, as if he were enveloped in the warmth and glory of a sun. "I will protect-serve Metru Nui very well with this Kanohi, Turaga Akrah.", he said, toying with a ball of light.

A few hours after the public learned of the silver Avohkii and of Brinzi's heroics, Dume confronted Akrah. "Turaga Akrah, why did you pick Brinzi? I am the leader of the team, and he's always slacking off.", Dume said, angry at Akrah. "Trust me, Dume, he is the one. I can sense something in him that tells me- he is the one to control both light and air.", the Turaga said, nodding to himself. "You have much to learn before you would be worthy for a mask of such power.", Akrah added, turning to Dume. Dume walked away furious. I should be the one with that mask..., he thought to himself, glaring at the Turaga on his way out.

Over the weeks, Brinzi was a star. Every Matoran wanted to ask him questions, and recognized him. He often could face the fiercest Rahi or catch a crook in record time single-handed. Dume was shocked to see those who trusted him as a leader followed Brinzi as if he were a Great Being. However, this jealousy would soon fade. "Dume, I need you to lead the team on this mission. There is a dangerous Vortixx prisoner being held on the prison island off the coast of Po-Metru. She must be neutralized.", Akrah said, explaining the next mission. "Alright, Toa Metru- let's head out.", Dume said, holding his Firestaff confidently.
