GM IC: Vilote's salvage wasn't as good as it could have been. The vorcha had done a good job of smashing it to bits. Still, there was an operable left cannon, some Paladin pistols stashed around the ship, and the wreck could be sold for scrap. With the eezo core and shielding, that came to 10 thousand credits.IC: Tali sighed and put her head in her hands. "I know. But curiosity killed the cat, I believe humans used to say."

(Vilote)

With the wreak thoroughly looted, Vilote head back to his own ship. Attaching tow cables to the wreak, he brought it back to Omega. He knew a few guys who would buy the the thing for a good bit of money. Lets see, a new cannon to add on at a later time, some Paladins, which are always nice to have, and a soon to be nice sum of credits. All in all, a nice day of work for this Quarian. I say a trip to Afterlife is in order.

After stopping off at the trader, and picking up 10,000 credits, Vilote was making his way to Afterlife. He could use a drink, and maybe pick up some crewmates for the Arkile. Walking in, Vilote went up to the bar, and ordered a drink.

IC (Jefferson)

The vessel shook as the turrets were dealt a death blow by the Turian weapons. "****ing birds have gone insane...." Jefferson activated the shipwide comms system once more. "All guards, all personal, prepare to repel boarders. Escort the VIPs to the escape pods. Move people!"

"Well, we also say that there's no use crying over spilled milk," Jason shrugged and gave the Quarian an assuring pat on the back, "Look, it was just a stroke of bad luck. With all the dirty secrets the Council was hiding, it was only a matter of time before someone found out about it. Could've been anyone."

IC / Orinthia Nassus / Afterlife, OmegaOrinthia quietly excused herself from her conversation with Commander Shepard. It looked like he had more important things to do, like round up his disorderly recruits, and she didn't want to give him the impression of being under foot so early in their partnership. She made her way over to the docks. Since she had only arrived on the station earlier that day, her trunk was still in holding at the dock where her previous ride - a run-down Kowloon freighter - was berthed. She walked up to the human who looked like he was in charge of moving the cargo off the freighter. "I am Nassus," she announced. He jumped and turned around so quickly she thought he might make a 360 and take off. He didn't, so she continued, "I arrived on this ship and am here to claim my luggage.""Luggage?" he stammered, unsure for an instant. Then Orinthia detected a hostile glint in his eye. "I'm sorry, I don't have a record of any passengers on this ship. You must be mistaken."A common thief, thought Orinthia. Frustrating to deal with, but not difficult. Not when I'm in full armor and packing an assault rifle. She took a step forward and flared her biotics, causing the air around her to shimmer blue. She summonded a weak Pull and drew the man off his feet. She grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and just held him, saying nothing. I give him two seconds until he realizes he's dealing with a commando.Of course, he isn't. But he doesn't need to know that. "My luggage." She dropped him and he scurried off behind a large crate, emerging a moment later with her box in tow. She took it from him, gave him a frigid and incinsere "thank you," and walked away laughing quietly to herself. At the Normandy's dock she was met by an Alliance soldier standing guard. "I have permission from Commander Shepard to come aboard," she said, her tone much more polite than at her last encounter with a human. The woman guarding the airlock just laughed and gripped her Avenger tighter. "I'm afraid it's going to take more than your word to let you onto this vessel, ma'am."It is for situations like these I keep a record of everything, thought Orinthia, pulling up her omni-tool. "I know it seems strange for an asari to say she has a right to board a human warship, but I assure you I am not being deceptive." A holographic screen appeared over the omni-tool and a recording of her conversation with Shepard played. "As you can see, he specifically directed me to this airlock."The Alliance guard relaxed slightly, but held her ground. "Ma'am, this could have been doctored. I'm going to have to ask you to wait until the Commander arrives. I cannot let you onboard."Orinthia sighed with dramatic explosiveness and marched away. "Humans are so suspicious," she muttered, "though I suppose this is Omega."

OOC: Going first person

IC:

I got up from my post and headed towards the coordinates of the ship. The battle seemed to have died down. The ISA and Human forces seemed to have handled the situation. Just as i arrived, I felt a slight breeze go by my head. Sniper. I took out my sniper rifle and headed for cover. From the angle and tragectory, it seemed to have come from a far building up high. I scoped the area with my rifle and found nothing. Where could he be.

IC: Even as the Turian-Diplomat fight reached a climax, news reached the human leadership. It was a testament to the power of current technology that they were able to talk so quickly, though it was by hologram rather than in person.

Rebecca Chambers, the USA President, spoke softly, but her voice trembled with rage. "The Council has gone too far."

IC: "But it was me." Tali shuddered. "Now everyone who dies if a war starts is on my hands!"

IC: The sniper swore and moved quickly, trying to set up another shot-

I looked around the building and saw the sniper. He is currently reloading, but that was alright for me. I moved towards a building and stayed under the window. I waited for a couple of minutes and felt nothing. Looks like a lost him. Now it's my turn, I crawled along the floor, making my way outside. I setup to the sniper's height and fired and his scope.

"Hey, listen to me," Jason said, turning in his chair to face Tali and putting both hands on her shoulders, "It's not your fault. Whatever happens is going to happen because of years and years of secrets and political tension. So don't blame yourself for the deeds of others. Think about what you're going to do about it instead."

IC: The sniper was caught, the bullet going through the scope and into his head. With his death, the battle was over.

IC: Vladimir Alexandrov thumped a fist on his table. "For once, Ms. President, we are of agreement. The turians must pay."

Chambers turned to the final member of their holoconference. "Chairman Malika? What do you say?"

The Chairman rubbed his chin. "I agree, though we must tread carefully."

IC: Tali nodded, sniffling a bit. "Thanks. It's one reason I've stuck with Shepard. He seems to understand how all of this works."

IC:

Finally, the battle was over. Now I can head back home and get back to my life. I followed the soldiers to a shuttle that had just arrived with medkits and other stuff. Igot myself patched up and ready to go for my flight back. I just waited around for an okay signal.

IC / Orinthia / Outside of AfterlifeOrinthia set her crate down by the line into Afterlife and straightened her back, grimacing. She decided it was not worth waiting in line, crate in hand, for who knows how long, only to have to turn right back around and depart when Shepard rounded up the crew. So she sat on her box and waited.

I hope."IC: The Commander walked over to those at the bar. "Cat, it's time to go."IC: The shuttle took off, flying back to the main space port on Feros. IC (Vladimir Alexandrov)

On CCCP channels, and later many other networks, the face of Vladimir Alexandrox appeared. He was a grim man, aging, but still wearing his uniform and his medals with pride. He still had the glint of a wolf in his eyes, the gaze that promised great harm upon any who attacked his pack. The gaze that promised swift death and destruction to those who stood against him. Then he spoke.

"Today, humanity was the victim of an unprovoked attack, the second in recent history. The Turians attempted to massacre our scientists. Our civilians. For violating laws they did not even know existed. We were willing to consider peace. We listened to what the Council said. We listened to promises of peace even when they underhanded tactics were revealed we did not strike. We are a people of peace. We were patient, willing to work towards a better future for all." He slammed his hand down on the podium in front of him. "No more. An American diplomatic vessel has been attacked and destroyed by the Turians. In Soviet space. This will not stand! This unprovoked act of aggression will not go unanswered! No more talks! No more diplomacy! No more empty words! No more lies! Now we will speak the only language the council can understand. War. Our species will make war with every fiber of it's being.

We are a divided species, there are those who think makes us weak. Makes us.....easy to attack. They are fools. Today the USSR will stand besides our comrades. Even as I speak our combined fleets are moving into position. Even as we speak, their outer worlds are facing the fire of our vengeance! Our union was founded by men who overthrew a tyrant. It was founded by the people who nothing to eat, who had nothing to their name. The poor. The deprived masses. The Council would see us return to that state! They would see us bow and scrape before them! Before their laws! The laws that killed so many innocents!" Vladimir slammed his fist into the podium again. "We know how to deal with their kind here! We know how to deal with tyrants! They will feel the fury of humanity combined. Even those we would call our enemies march besides us. We must forget the hatreds of the past. The grudges of the present. Make no mistake, this is a war for the future of humanity. It will determine our destiny as a species."

He hung his head for a moment. "To the brave soldiers who will fight this battle I say....remember your ancestors. War beats in our veins. We have fought ever since we crawled from the muck of the distant past. Our history is written in blood. Remember this and take heart, for if we have practiced war for a thousand years...then we have mastered it. This is not an easy thing I ask of you, but ask it I must. If you would ever see peace again.....I ask now to make war with all your might! Let fury guide your hand! If we are to ever see peace again.....then we must take this fight to the council. We will go to where they live! Where they eat! And we will bring them the war they have brought us twice before! Soldiers of the Union, my comrades, go forth! In the name of humanity!

To the council I say this. We are coming for you. You can run....but you'll only die tired."

OOC: The humans have just declared war on the Turians, and by extension the Council. Read Basilisks post above from soviet leadership. Other than that and what flaredrick said, not much.IC: Rebecca Chamberlain stepped up to a podium on the USS Washington, her words echoing through the ether. "There comes a time in every race's history when they must put aside their differences and fight for survival. We thought that had passed when the First Contact War ended, but it was not so.""This morning, at 0800 Standard Time, a diplomatic ship was attacked. No longer content to merely meddle in our affairs, the Council passed laws without informing us, seeking to blame humanity for the aggression. Now, I give them our final answer.""We will fight. We will combat them everywhere they seek to root, seek to flee, seek to hide. We are at war.""And we will prevail."IC: The General turned. "Far more than I would have liked, though our casualties were better than they could have been. Feros is held."IC: Shepard sighed, but was interrupted by his comm. He listened for a second, eyes widening."The United States is at war."

IC (Valeria)

Valeria's voice came over the commlink in Shepard's helmet. "Commander. The Union has just declared war on the council. They've asked for your assistance. What should I tell them?" Valeria suspected she knew how Shepard would answer, but she hoped he could put his idealism aside for a few moments and consider the situation. Peace was impossible at this point.

IC:Slowly, unnoticed, Alistair's head cocked to one side. His eyes lost much of their usual mirth, growing deadly serious. His hands slipped out of the pockets of his coat, crossing across his chest as he scanned the club. Catalina was off that way, and the others were nowhere to be found.

Things had gone from bad to worse.

Red coat blending in with the colored lights of his surrounding, he began to move towards the door. Things were happening, and it was time that he found out what was going on.

Arcturus was at Pavalen, according to the news, the Humans had declared war on the Council, from that, Arcturus understood that by proxy they had gone to war with the Heirarchy, it will now be time to bring down the hammer on them, though Arcturus also knew that the humans would not lose easily. It would be a long and bloody fight. Arcturus was wondering when would the 26th Armiger be deployed, and where would they be deployed at.

The news of Humanity declaring war on the Council was all over the news. The time for war was here, and all would be dragged into this. Leaving the bar, Vilote made his way back to the Arkile. It was time he went to the Unity. Hopefully he could run across a few others there.

Arcturus was pacing around his barrack's waiting for orders on where he would be deployed to. The war would not be good for either side, at worse, the council would be defeated, at best it would be a Pyrrhic victory. human’s why do you always have to violate Citadel laws; if you only obeyed the law, this may not have happened.

ICCat looked at Shepard, her eyes showing unorthodox seriousness. "....Why..?" She asked, not wanting to go to war with a race she had come to adore. "Why are we doing something like this?"

IC:"Because it was inevitable."

A voice commented behind Catalina. It would take her a moment to recognize it, so different was Alistair's tone from his usual behavior. The engineer was solemn, and serious, in contrast to his usual eccentric cheer. "Tensions have risen like smoke from the very battlefields they have unleashed. Like steam with nowhere to go, they have boiled over."

IC (CC News)

"Nick Irwin here, reporting for the CC-14." The man was young and clearly a native of Australia. In the skies behind him, skyscrapers loomed, it was clearly a heavily urbanized planet. "The situation on the ground on Illium is confused at best. Moments ago, the USSR's Third Fleet attacked the local defensive forces. You can still see some of the fighting..." He gestured to the night sky above him, and the small explosions visible from the surface. "The Asari authorities tell me that their system defenses are still holding strong and that...." A massive explosion suddenly filled the sky, as an Asari dreadnought plummeted from the atmosphere. "God in heaven-that-" Nick ducked back into a nearby building, the camera robot following him.

Still in cover, the young man turned to look at the camera again. "That was the Light of Illium. The biggest Asari ship in the sector....if it's gone down I can't...." He gestured for the robot to peak through a nearby window. The vision it beheld was a horrible one. The Asari vessel had hit one of the most dense areas of the city. A few defense installations still spewed fire and death in the direction of space, but dark shapes-USSR gunships and fighters-were bombarding them with ordinance of their own. Nick's face suddenly filled the screen again. "I have confirmation. The Asari defenses have been overwhelmed, I repeat the Asari defenses have been overwhelmed..."

IC: Afterlife Night Club, Omega

"Didn't think that things would escalate this quickly," Alank remarked as the trio watched the news unfolding on the monitors by the bar, "The humans have just barely declared war and they've already launched an assault on a major Council trade world. You'd think they've been preparing for a moment like this for years."

"It does seem awfully well-timed," Jason nodded, "What do you think, Camille?"

"Alank's right. Illium might not have a heavy military presence stationed at it, but there's no way the USSR put together a force big enough to take on Asari warships this smoothly in such little time, especially not a dreadnought. I don't like it."

"So where does this all leave us, then?" Jason asked, "I'd hate to think that we'd split just because our species are at war with one another."

"Don't worry, I trust you two enough to have my back when it comes down to it," the Turian assured them, "But with the humans striking this quickly, I don't doubt that the Hierarchy is going to be reaching out to old vets like me to come back and serve again. I'd understand if you have some reservations with going with me."

"Hey, wherever you go, we'll be right behind you."

"And you'd be ok with possibly killing your own people?"

"Wouldn't be the first time we did."
