Here is the discussion topic for Halo: Forerunners, where shoutouts to all players belong. Profiles can be posted here or in the game topic, though I'd prefer the game topic. All profiles are also listed and linked to here, except for Important NPC Profiles.

Story Summary

Just like in TFEC and XMDD, the story in-game will be summarized here for reference or for new players to easily jump right in. So, here it is.

Oh yeah, I forgot, we haven't done anything yet. Time to make things happen, then!

My Profiles

Name: Bruce Woods

Species/Type: Spartan-IV

Gender: Male

Rank: First Sergeant

Appearance: This

Loadout: Lightrifle, Suppressor, Plasma Grenades, Jet Pack, Firepower, Explosives

Personality: Bruce, at his core, has strong moral beliefs, even if they aren't the usual ones. He firmly believes that everyone has the right to freedom, except for people who try to take it away by any means, slavery, death, or otherwise. He believes that such people, along with anyone evil, should be killed. This isn't exactly controversial in a war setting, a fact that he greatly appreciates.

He believes that no one should be responsible for or subjected to bad things caused by anything beyond their control, such as the circumstances of their birth, their age, or their species. Because of this, racism and bullying enrage him.

He also believes that whether or not the ends justify the means depends on the exact situation. For this reason, in the case of the Spartan-II program, he holds nothing against Halsey. Master Chief, who he looks up to, and most importantly the fact that the human race is still alive because of the Spartans, are a lot more important to him than why.

He believes that anyone can be a great hero, and with some luck and circumstances, the greatest. He works hard as a Spartan-IV while still looking up to the II's to save what he cares about, but also to prove this.

Skills: Bruce is good at thinking up useful strategies, and has above average aim. He can land multiple headshots in rapid succession easily with an 80% hit rate, but fast-moving opponents like vehicles give him trouble. With a Railgun or Spartan Laser, he's terrible unless facing Knights or vehicles. His reflexes are terrible when he is not in open combat and expecting difficulty, but when he is, they are average. In terms of sheer strength, like when he is lifting objects, he is less skilled, but he hits things hard and fast, much better than he pushes or pulls them. His speed is above average. He has great endurance, which stems from his morals, will, and pride.

Backstory: Bruce was born into a middle-class family, and had little athletic or combat experience in early childhood. However, he quickly developed his morals, will, and motivation in middle school and high school, and when he graduated, he signed up to be an ODST. Better air than sea, in his opinion, and ODSTs were the best of the best...for normal humans. Unlike other ODSTs, he felt no resentment for the Spartans, actually looking up to them, but he took a neutral stance on the matter when with his friends. When the Spartan-IV program was announced, he jumped at the chance to become one. He has been a Spartan-IV for quite some time now, and is very experienced in combat.

Weaknesses: His skill at throwing any grenade other than a Plasma Grenade is terrible, and with a Plasma Grenade he is slightly below average at best. He also gets confused when fighting too many opponents of relatively equal strength. (However, he can still easily take on a massive group of weak enemies on his own. You can't just swarm him with Grunts, Jackals, and Crawlers and expect to actually win.) He is also unable to swim longer than ten seconds.

Name: Zachary "Zac" ToddsonSpecies/Type: Human, Spartan IV, ODST Soldier (Formerly)Gender: MaleRank: Seargent Appearance: Zac (without his armor) is 6'00 and weighs 150 lbs. and has a relatively tall, lanky, and skinny build. He has white skin, hazel eyes and brown hair, and typically wears graphic t-shirts and jeans whenever he is off duty. His armor is a mix of things, his helmet being a red Mark VI model, his chest being a red Soldier model, black, Aviator shoulder pads, red and black Inner plated Helmet: Mark VI (Red)Chest: Soldier (Red)Right Shoulder: Aviator (Black)Right Shoulder: Recruit (Black)Arms: Inner Plated (Red and Black)Legs: Outer Plated (Red and Black)Visor: FrostLoadout: Main Weapon: M45D Tactical Shotgun, BR85HB SR Battle RifleGrenade Type: FragArmor Ability: Hard Light ShieldTactical Package: FirepowerSupport Upgrade: AmmoPersonality:A brave, humble and kind young man who generally displays a light-hearted, talkative, easy-going, witty and cheeky manner, but repeatedly demonstrates a vengeful and unforgiving streak as well. His strong personal sense of justice makes him quick to anger when he feels it is violated, this is coupled, however, with an intense sense of regret of the deaths of both his friends and enemies. He also has a tendency to babble, mixing apparent nonsense with vital information, sometimes acting erratically to put his enemies off-guard. He is prone to making comments that to outsiders seem obtuse or rude, sometimes to his own embarrassment.Skills: -Ability to operate -Warthogs -Mantises -Pelicans (If needed)-Weapons Intell-Repairing Vehicles and Machines-Defense-InfiltratingBackstory: Zac is a SPARTAN-IV, and is a part of the UNSC. He specializes in repairs, driving and operating vehicles and protecting and infiltrating bases, as he was trained to perform these tasks. He originally started out as an ODST soldier, until he joined the Spartan-IV program. As an ODST Soldier, he was on the same squad with his older sister, always following her command as the squad's leader. During one of their missions, their team leader was killed in a premature detonation when trying to prevent a Covenant bombing on a building, with only him and another ODST member surviving by making it out while his sister tried to defuse the bomb, which, was sadly unsuccessful. Zac was placed on another ODST until the time came that the Spartan IV program was initiated that he was given the option of joining. He accepted this offer, and became Spartan IV and joined the ranks with other Spartans, and boarded the Infinity, where he and many other Spartans trained, and even helped fight the Prometheans on Requim.Weaknesses: Zac typically stays in the back of the lines, rather than the front. In other words, he doesn't do well fighting big groups alone, since he is used to having other soldiers backing him up. He doesn't succeed in physical combat, and fails at assassinations, not the most stealthiest of Spartans...

A few problems, Zacax. One, if you have Firepower, that just lets you carry two primary weapons. It doesn't increase your damage. Which also removes the idea of holding a Magnum. Two, shotguns and SAWs are power weapons in limited supply. You don't get them as loadouts.

As many as you like, but you can't make an army of chars to win stuff.

Name: Silas Anthony "Tony" King Species/Type: Spartan IVGender: MaleRank: CorporalAppearance: Tony has dirty-blond hair that, in what is perhaps an anomaly among the UNSC troops, is just short of shoulder-length. His eyes are dark blue and his skin is somewhat pale. His 5'9" frame holds seemingly little muscle, though his strength does not suffer as a result most likely due to chemical enhancements. He wears a full set of Deadeye armor that is predominantly dark grey with orange and navy blue highlights.Loadout: Primary Weapon: SRS 99-S5 AMSecondary Weapon: MagnumGrenade: Two flashbang grenadesArmor Ability: Active CamoTactical Package: MobilitySkills: Tony specializes in long-range combat (as his armor and loadout may lead one to believe) and assassination. He is fairly accurate; a shot from him is likely, though not guaranteed, to hit its target.Backstory: Not much is known about Tony's past other than that he joined the UNSC at a fairly young age. Something happened in his past that makes him uneasy on the subject of his family.Weaknesses: Tony's armor, loadout, and skills are tailored for speed and accuracy. As such, he isn't quite as durable as your typical spartan and he's pretty much screwed when it comes to close-quarters combat. In addition, he recently suffered an injury to his left bicep that may never heal. It impedes his accuracy and causes him a degree of pain that ranges from neglegable to almost unbearable whenever he uses a two-handed firearm--depending on the weapon, of course.

Well, flashbangs aren't in the game, but they're perfectly logical, so that's fine.

But you can't use a sniper rifle as a primary. It's a limited supply power weapon. Also, to wield two weapons larger than a sidearm, you need the Firepower tactical package.

Hmm, weapons seem to be the main thing problems arise from.

Perhaps because you're adhering rather strictly to game logic? Even when it contradicts actual logic?Anyway. Back to my hidey-hole of observation.

Name: Victoria (B001)

Species/Type: Spartan III

Gender: Female

Rank: Unknown

Appearance: Due to her time in the cryo-pod, Victoria is (physically) little older than when she was captured. Roughly aged nineteen, she was older than many of her fellows when she was brought into the Spartan Program, though she is now younger than the few surviving members of her company. She is slightly taller than the average person, though not nearly as much as the legendary Spartan IIs. Her brown hair is almost shoulder length, due to her time spent away from UNSC control, and her green eyes are perpetually on alert. She wears a set of black Headhunter SPI armor, with gunmetal gray accents, and a silver visor.

Loadout: Victoria carries no armor assists as such, since her armor precedes their usage. However, what she loses in technology, her armor makes up for in reliability. The SPI armor she uses is equipped with shielding, though not as powerful as the units present on the MJOLNIR models. In addition, it carries a more advanced version of the SPI Mk. II’s cloaking; suspected by some to be a prototype of the MJOLNIR’s active camo, the suit can blend in with any environment with ease. As an SPI model, it also fails to show up as anything more than a blip on thermal sensors. It is equipped with the capability for thirty minutes of breathable air.

For weapons, Victoria tends to carry a DMR and two M6C SOCOMS, allowing her both stealth and adaptability at both range. She also keeps a small supply of plasma grenades on her person, and two upscaled combat knives sheathed at her thighs.

Personality: Victoria is uniquely furious toward the UNSC’s highest ranking officers, particularly those that were a part of the secret Section 3. Despite the actions undertaken by both Beta and Alpha companies, neither has ever received any recognition for their services. In fact, despite the Spartan IV program’s existence, the exact specifics of what happened to the first two companies of Spartan IIIs remains classified, the truth locked away where no one can see it. After all, they wouldn’t want word getting out that they had knowingly sent over five hundred children to their deaths, would they? She wants nothing more than to see their crimes exposed, and for her fallen comrades to have the respect they deserve. Despite this, she holds no resentment towards the rank and file of the UNSC, even if she does see the Spartan IVs as inefficient replacements for her own kind. She will go out of her way to avoid harming them if it is possible, and even if it is not, she will rarely if ever administer a killing blow.

Skills: Victoria, by virtue of her training, is a more effective fighter than a IV could ever hope to be. Trained from her preteen years for battle, her first battlefield experiences were against some of the worst odds the war has ever seen. Her lightweight armor design, coupled with her preferred combat style, means that only one word can truly describe her; fast. Her hand to hand skills are unparalleled by anyone from her time, and no one from this one has yet to match her. She is a skilled stealth operative, and an effective sniper. Coupled with her shielding, she is a combatant to be wary of. Her training was second only to that of the Spartan IIs, and as a Spartan III, she was one of the last to receive training from an active Spartan II. As such, she has a knowledge of their abilities that modern Spartan IVs simply cannot match.

Backstory: Victoria was one of about three hundred Spartan IIIs in Beta Company. Recruited a little older than the rest, she was trained on Onyx, and eventually was augmented to becomes a Spartan. After several successful, though undocumented, missions, Beta Company was assigned to Operation: TORPEDO. The Covenant had set up a facility on Pegasi Delta, too protected for standard methods of attack, too far away for missiles, and with too many troops for ODSTs to handle. So Beta was airdropped in to eliminate the facility. Over the course of the assault, the entirety of Beta Company save two were killed, and all evidence of their battle destroyed when the facility’s reactor went critical. As such, all remaining members of Beta were assumed KIA.

But one lived. Through unknown means, B001 survived the battle and eventually made it off the planet, and back to UNSC space. She had more or less gone rogue, no longer acknowledging the chain of command, or acting as part of the UNSC army. She intervened in a few battles, always appearing and then disappearing before anyone could notice her. But eventually, ONI found out about it. She was finally captured on Reach, in the year 2546, and forced into a cyotube. ONI had planned to rehabilitate her and use her as a trainer for Gamma Company, the then upcoming wave of Spartan IIIs, but that was delayed as the war went on. Those plans were finally shut down entirely with the loss of Onyx, and the Spartans currently present on the planet. She became something of a relic, unknown to the public, buried away in an ONI storage facility. She was moved around a few times, and in a wist of irony, eventually winding up in a present day facility built on Pegasi Delta.

Weaknesses: Victoria lacks any powerful mid ranged weapons. As such, if caught in that range, her effectiveness is limited. But her biggest weakness by far is her shielding, which is not quite as powerful as most modern models. If one could get past that, her SPI armor would be unable to handle more than a few attacks.

Had this one preapproved over PM.

Krayzikk, if anyone could have anything in a loadout, things would generally be OP. So many one-hit kill stuff.

You can't put it in a personal loadout. You can use it on the field easily. The Infinity drops it to troops as ordnance sometimes, and at other times you can find a load of them on a weapons rack.

Considering that the Infinity's also under attack, you could grab one as soon as you spawn. Plenty of armories.

No offense, and just my personal opinion here,

But you seem to be trying to keep this awfully video game-esque. Weapons racks? Ordnance drops? It sounds like I just put Halo Reach in my Xbox, not like I hopped into a TBRPG topic. For example, what is so wrong with a sniper rifle? Even in the games, they were rarely one hit kills against other Spartans. They weren't even always one hit kills against Elites. And the other applicable species could, just like real life, be killed pretty easily with just a pistol.

And in actual logic, a sniper rifle would be on every deployment. Snipers are very effective soldiers, especially considering the Covenenant's tendency not to use them. So why aren't they allowed? I mean, you're even using the video game descriptor of one hit kill. The only limitations I have seen in place so far are based around what the video game lets you do, and to be perfectly honest, it's making me cringe. There are so many contradictions in logic here. If Spartans are so strong, why wouldn't they be able to handle two assault rifles, or two shotguns, when you consider that marines can handle them with ease? Why aren't snipers being included in deployments? Neither of these make sense, and these are just the examples off the top of my head. With their strength, Spartans could technically be walking one man armies with an arsenal to match. Instead, they have a single rifle and a backup weapon unless they have a specific ability that lets them carry two primaries but no backup.

Welp. My two cents for the morning.

While I believe with Snarky's opinion, I also know as an avid player of the Halo series and an RPer and GM, stuff like the Rocket Launcher or Sticky Detonator are pretty powerful weapons. Maybe instead, we could do something like a post system? That way you add certain weapons to your load out after you have reached said number of posts? Trying not make this more complicated than it needs to be buts its just a suggestion.

Oh yeah I know that, but I just think stuff like the SAW and Shotgun are fine for being Loadouts, but stuff like the Sniper Rifles and Rocket Launcher shouldn't (I mean you can use a DMR as a substitute for the Sniper)).Either way, I'm fine with whatever happens

All right. The rule about the Firepower package still stands, which means without it you must take your choice of Magnum, Plasma Pistol, and Boltshot. However, certain weapons like SMGs and Sniper Rifles are allowed.

Actually, Zacax, the Sniper is ok, but not the SAW. SAW remains a power weapon. Have you ever actually used or fought against that thing? It can tear you apart extremely fast even at Battle Rifle ranges, and it's an automatic! The thing's a 3-second kill when you bring it into close quarters. Much too powerful to have people constantly going around with. As for logic, well, the thing's powerful and expensive. Massive clip and all.

So, I will be more reasonable in my approvals now. Zacax, Zyke, feel free to return the weapons I took from you if doing so will follow the new rules.

Oh, and Zacax...an assassination is not simply an attack from the back with a gun, or what the dictionary defines it as. In Halo Reach and 4, it's going up behind someone at melee range, then holding down the melee button to perform an elaborate takedown animation instead of a simple beat down, and an instant kill. In the games, it comes with a risk of dying because you can't abort the animation, but here, you can, because it makes no logical sense to be unable to stop it.

So if you wanted to grab someone's head and pull them over your knee and begin to snap their spine on it, you can auto-grab the (unaware) PC from behind and begin to assassinate, but the killing strike can't be posted by you unless the other player neglects to counter in their next post as the assassinated char. Sometimes the counter will inevitably fail partially and result in injury instead of death or escaping unscathed.

With this in mind...assassinating with a Sniper Rifle really doesn't make sense.

Ignore the evil laughter. Totally unrelated.

Totally.

I shall return.

I believe you find life such a problem because you think there are the good people and the bad people. You are wrong, of course. There are, always and only, the bad people, but some of them are on opposite sides.

Name: Ilja Brokvejus-originally, known now as Ilja-H404.

Species/Type: Human, Spartan III

Gender: Male

Rank: Sergeant, Headhunter

Appearance: Outside of Armour, Ilja is about 7'2'' tall, with close-cropped dark brown hair, and hazel eyes. In armour, well, he wears SPI Armour.

Loadout: Slightly Modified SPI Armour: A downgrade from what most Headhunters wear, the non-shielded SPI Armour suits Ilja just fine. It's made of multiple layers of an alloy that is slightly weaker than MJOLNIR armour, though it holds a few of the other features, such as the liquid crystal cushioning layer, the one hour air supply, and augmenting the strength of the wearer. The top layer(s) are made up of photo-reactive plates, a human version of active camouflage. No shields, though it does have automated Biofoam injectors to keep Iljus stable if wounded during a fight, similar to MJOLNIR armour systems. A.I. Compatible, with VISR technology.

MA5K Carbine rifle: A skeletal, cut-down version of the MA5C ICWS, the MA5K retains the ammo counter and thirty-two round magazine, though the weapon itself has been greatly cut down to reduce weight. Ilja has his outfitted with a small scope on the front of the top rail, similar to those used on the M6G, directly linked to his SPI Armours HUD. His specific MA5K has a built in suppressor and muzzle brake.

M6C/SOCOM: Also known as the M6S, this pistol is similar to the M6C, except it is optimized to have more power, and it also has a smart-linked scope, muzzle brake, and a small laser sight.

After that, the standard issue combat knife.

Personality: Ilja is, despite how much war he has seen at the relatively young age of 19, is a happy, sociable fellow, though when in battle, he is a silent, enemy-destroying, objective-fulfulling machine.

Skills: Ilja's main skills are in stealth and his dead on accuracy, trained to work that way as part of his training as a Headhunter. As well, he specializes at completing solitary, high-risk missions, generally suicide missions, and yet he almost always manages to come back. However, due to this, he doesn't function the best in a full squad, generally trying to head off and do his own thing.

Backstory: Not even Ilja knows his full history; not that it was drilled out of him, but that he made a point of forgetting everything prior to becoming a Spartan III. After finished with augmentations and training, he went out, at the age of 12, upon his first mission, a large-scale suicide mission; high risk, high reward. Through sheer tenacity and willpower he made his way to the exfil point and went back home, along with a few others; these few became a part of his specific squad. A few missions later and all but Ilja and one other were KIA or MIA, and they were quickly ushered into the ranks of the Headhunters, the Spartan III's elite squad, taking on the missions, generally in squads of two, that were deemed too dangerous for even the other Spartan III's to go on. He continued on like this until about three years ago, when his last squadmate was killed just three kilometers from their exfiltration point. After that, he declined a new partner, instead signing on to serve on the UNSC Infinity, where he currently resides.

Weaknesses: His armour, compared to most everybody else's (except for the Unggoy, Kig-Yar, and Yanme'e), is rather weak, able to be dented by a Spartan IV's punch. It doesn't augment his strength as much as the others' armour as well, leaving him at about 85% the strength of a Spartan II, and it doesn't have shields. After that, he is a solitary fighter; he doesn't perform well in groups. After that, his armour, though more advanced even than the SPI Mark II armour with the photoreactive plates, still shifts imperfectly, leaving him more visible than one using Covenant technology.

I'd say your pistol needs a drawback to compensate for your advantages over the standard issue Magnum, but your armor's lack of energy shielding means a single headshot (Which is very, very easy to achieve) would kill you. That more than makes up for...well, just about everything. Including being a Spartan-III, which wasn't even one of the playable species I listed.

Since III's are inherently weaker than II's, I guess I'll go ahead and approve it.

I'll make III's free instead of unlockable, but only one per player. There aren't exactly a scrapload of them left over from the original war.

Very, very easy to achieve, except when you're staying behind cover/in the shadows most of the time, and you have a (slightly imperfect but still functional) system of active camouflage.

Also, if you go look it up, the M6S is actually weaker than the M6G, which would be the standard by this time, if I remember right. The only thing it has is increased accuracy, due to lower recoil, and the laser sight and scope.

Well, that, and obviously it's quieter. xP

Sounds like the perfect assassin, then. Fair enough. Remember, I'm not on some rampaging attempt to kill everyone who plays this game. XD

Oh, but you need to remove your char's surname. Spartan II's and III's had their surnames replaced with a numerical designation.

Seems like Spartans are the most popular chars.

Name: Spartan Bethany "Beth"-767.Species/Type: Human, Spartan II.Gender: Female.Rank: Well, as much as it's applicable, 1st Lieutenant. Most that know of her existence call her "Last Resort 767".Appearance: Outside her suit, Bethany is very attractive, though somewhat more muscular than average. She stands at an even 6 foot, her hereditary smallness partially canceling out her height boosts. Her deep brown hair comes to her shoulders, though she normally keeps it in a ponytail. For how often the Navy actually puts her on duty, she should be able to decide her hairstyle. Beth's body is very well proportioned, some might say. During a fight, she wears dark green MJOLNIR armor with an untinted visor.Loadout: 767 carries the normal USNC issued assault rifle as her primary, a sniper rifle as her secondary. Add those to a combat knife and a few frag grenades and you've got her weapons. Her armor is pretty much standard to Spartan IIs, though it is lighter and slightly less durable.Personality: Beth is a bit of an oddity among her generation of soldiers. The personality damping didn't stick. She feels every bullet fired, every kill, everything as a normal 19 year old human would. As a result, she was put in deep freeze. Unlike 117, she couldn't just go out and massacre covenant troops. All in all, she's still sensitive, though fighting has gradually hardened her somewhat. Off-duty she's comparatively caring and nice, though her off-duty noncryofreeze time is limited. She's one of the older IIs temporally, but the youngest biologically- the equivalent of nineteen or twenty.Skills:Beth is a crack shot, excelling at putting a man down with two or less bullets. Her Spartan II enhancements put her among the strongest troops in the fleet, but hand-to-hand is not one of her strong points.Backstory: Beth was abducted, as all the rest were at age 6. She went through the enhancement program, though something didn't quite stick with her. She watched in horror as the others gradually lost the ability to feel, constantly fearing she was going to change next. That fear is what tipped her off to her strangeness. Spartans shouldn't be afraid. Despitethe best efforts of UNSC scientists, they couldn't fix her. She was doomed to be the soldier always feeling her kills, hurting as she felled yet another sentient being, while the others scarcely cared. The Navy decided she was too much of a risk, sticking her in cryostasis until times of dire need. That time is now.Weaknesses: As stated before, melee combat is not a strong suit. Beth prefers to take out troops from a distance where she can't see her kill's eyes glaring accusingly at her, though she can if need be. In addition, her shields function at 90% the level of normal for her model, though it allows her to move faster.

No such thing as destiny.
