IC: Celite - Daylaria's Mind

She winced. She knew of the dangers Iden-users faced. She had heard tales of how their spirits could dissipate,"I'm sorry to hear that." She said solemnly, for the first time in quite a while actually meaning it. "I don't have much reason to be here. Daylaria just gave the the option to be taken and it's better than spending a lifetime behind bars. Besides...I might learn some interesting things." As she said that, she drew up a chair and quickly grabbed another engraved tablet of information from Dalyaria's memories before sitting down next to Kyron. Coincidentally, the tablet was about the Iden itself, and she began taking a note of the key points."Spirit...separation...Death...Elements..." She muttered, nodding as she flipped over to the second side. "I could really get used to absorbing all this information..."

IC: KaithasVoutok, huh.I followed slightly behind the De-Matoran.No one needed to look at me too close.Anyway."So, your name is Voutok?"

IC: VoutokUpon sensing the movement of a Toa wearing a mask that looked like a Huna—one of the individuals interested in the Dive—Voutok rounded behind him, calmly ushering him ahead; the De-Matoran WAS assigned to be the flank of these applicants."Yes. Private Voutok, De-Matoran Sentry." he spoke in a practical tone with a quick, casual salute. "According to the Commander, I will be participating in the screening process for this expedition." Voutok scanned thr rest of the group as they moved towards the HQ, noting the ratio of Matoran to the much taller Toa and Vortixx. "...I can already tell I'm probably going to need a bigger chair." he said, quietly.

"Why...me? Oh yeah, that's right. I'm weak. I'm of a minority, a minority of people with a common trait: we hear too much. And what we're supposed to hear hurts to hear. When I'm alone in a silent room, I can hear a pebble dropping from a mile away. I can hear a motor boat being started up several yards off the coast. A whisper from outside, I can hear as if they were talking right at me. An explosion in another koro, I hear as if it's just outside. Sounds useful, right?"

"Wrong."

"It's a curse, if you ask me. The same pen dropping inside this aforementioned silent room would ring in my ears. If I stood by the same motor, I'd get a headache. The same whisper would ring in my ear like two metal beams being slammed together in front of my face. The same explosion would render me deaf for years...thank the Spirit I thought of getting me something to dampen the noise, or I'd end up like the rest of my kind..."

IC: [ Krios ] - Ga-KoroKrios fell obediently into step just ahead of the Huna-masked Toa, third from the rear. A good position, not right in the spotlight, but not rebellious, either. Solidly neutral; very safe.Huh. If I'd known we were going to be parading through the streets like a gen-u-ine chain-gang, I'd have at least wiped the dust off my boots or washed my face or something. The thought seemed almost ominous. A chain-gang? Hardly... but the resemblance was certainly there. No rattling manacles or drab prison garb, true; but a highly-formidable Ga-Koro Marine at both ends of the column, practically herding the band along? His slight grin widened. He hadn't enjoyed something this much in weeks. It was good to be alive.Hope this lady's office ain't too far away. I'm in no condition for the public eye.

IC:

Akira was speechless, surprised to such extent that she didn't even notice Mila's little moment of indecision. She couldn't take her eyes off of the piece of art. "Shhhhhh... It's so... perfect..." she whispered, approaching it. She reached out, but stopped a few inches short, as if afraid touching it would ruin it. "How? You never.. took any measures or anything..."

IC: Kaithas/Erith"I'm not applying, not technically. Specialist Erith Retahker at your service." I grinned, answering the obvious question with: "And no, that is not a normal rank. I'm kind of a..."I shrugged."Consultant, I guess you could say? Part timer, friend of Daylaria's.""Figured I should just watch, see how things end up."IC: Erif came to a halt. The running had been tiring, yes.But no, he did not feel the need to show any weakness in front of Akira.None."Are you hungry," he asked Fiera.

"Let's stop and think about this for a second." I said grumpily. "I just ran...... Karz knows how many kios. Why would I suggest going to grab a lunch? It makes no sense!" I said and stuck my tongue out. "First come, first served!" I said and despite running on vapors, I darted to the nearest food place I could see.

IC-Mila:

"No, but I was able to get a good average based on what the doctor said of you when she gave you a checkup after removing that burnt, dead flesh from your back, and from what was left of your old armour," the Toa of Iron replied. After a moment he stood, walking over by Akira, hands at his sides.

"Hey, eh, Tohi, Akira, whichever one you call yourself now," he said quietly, causing the Toa to turn towards him, before he wrapped her in a hug.

"I missed you too."

IC: Voutok"O...k then. We should be at HQ in about two minutes at this pace." Voutok's heightened hearing (he still had not turned the sound supression on his headset up since the moment he was observing the rapidly-enlarging group) picked up a whisper closer to the middle-front of the group."How long do you think this will take? Before we get to dive, I mean""Depends on how long this screening process takes, how long it takes to get onto the boats, and how long it takes for us to reach the sunken ruins of Xa-Koro from here." he called to the whisperer. "All goes well, we'll be there by sundown. All goes a little rough, we'll probably be there by this coming dawn. I personally don't think it will be too long."

[ilhamotho]

Why, exactly, had he gotten so angry? The worry chased him like a wolf, jaws bared, as he exited the hut. He was already regretting his conduct. She was the Toa of the area, so of course she was suspicious of a scarred Vortixx carrying a giant spear weapon who just happens to use a false name. He scowled. It was not his fault, not at all, that no one had bothered naming him. So, he made them up. They called him "the boy" and "Vortixx" until that day. He still remembered it, his partner, a Skakdi, standing in wide-eyed surprise, over a horribly mutilated corpse. My body, flush with excitement, the knife in my hand dripping with blood...

"That gleam...kid...Karz, da ###### did you do?"

I shrugged. "I killed him. Wasn't that the job?"

"Yeah, but......what da ######l Not like that! What did you do?!?"

The Matoran had been ripped in half, from right waist to left eye socket, a long cut dividing the Matoran into two equal sections. A countless number of puncture wounds littered the corpse, each of them oozing. There was another knife sticking directly out of his heartlight and his right hand lay some distance away.

I looked up and smiled. "I killed him, boss." My eyes gleamed. "I killed him."

Redeye.

Ilhamotho looked out onto the bay. It was time to face facts; no matter how much he tried to convince himself otherwise, no matter how much he tried to redeem himself, become a moral being, he just ended up killing things. There was little reason for his outburst, for his near murder of that Toa, but he still did it. And here he was, about to take a job where he would lie to a group of hopeless refugees for his own personal advancement.

Oh, and for one other reason. To kill. In his deepest heart of hearts, he knew the truth: as long as he followed Ambages, there would be blood. And, as Ilhamotho knew, as long as there was blood, he would be content.

He started to walk back to the fountain.

IC: Strakolix

Strakolix woke up from whatever insane dreams he had been having. "Ah, good morning, I feel like I must have slept for days. Hold on, where am I? Oh that's right, I got arrested because I panicked and acted stupid. Hopefully a full apology and a good lawyer can get me out of here sometimes soon. Aw, well. Till then. Good morning Corporal Not-Blueberry! So tell me, how long was I asleep? Oh and hello Toa that calls me Sparkles."

Ooc: Jam with Tyler and I.

Ic:

Hahli sighed lowly to herself and examined the sky.It was nearing evening now; the stars were not yet coming out in full but rather tested the navy blue waters of the budding night sky. The Akiri had not yet taken much time to rest but had rather settled into a contemplative sleep mode of sorts, eyes boring into her desk as she sat with arms crossed by her abdomen and legs crossed at the ankles. Then she heard a respectful knock at the door."Yes?"

Ambages stood outside, a Marine escort at his side, and listened patiently for Hahli to reply to his raps. Hearing her voice give an affirmative he greeted back an introduction, "Akiri, I am Ambages, an envoy from Ko-Koro. I would love to have an audience with you to negotiate some things with you. I... hope you are well enough for such diplomacy?" he asked politely.

"Yes, please," Hahli replied quickly, standing up personally and moving to the door. She shook off all signs of sluggishness on the way and answering the door with the grace and politeness of both a village leader, a Marine, and an athlete. "Please, come in and take a seat. Forgive the state of the hut. It's been...a rather busy couple days."

"So I've heard," Ambages said with a smile as he entered the hut and didn't give a second glance at the small mess of things. "I've heard news about your recent difficulties. I can't say I envy you or my own Akiri." Flicking a finger at the escort he asked, "Does he have to stay, or can we work in privacy?" not knowing the policy of Hahli or the marines.

Hahli waved at the escort to take a spot outside with a smile and a gentle, reassuring nod before turning back to the architect and looking him up and down."What can I do for you tonight?"

"Well," Ambages said as he sat before Hahli's small office desk, "as we of power are well aware the villages are not getting along well at all. Ko-Koro would like to help restore Unity to the koros. Akiri Matoro sees this as an ideological pursuit.""And you?""I tend to view this in a more utilitarian way," he said, gesturing both his hands with opened fingers and a genial little smile on his face. "I think our villages can benefit greatly from cooperation, and a mutually beneficial contract between our villages would put us at an advantage against any other koros that may want to try something -- shall we say -- fishy."

"Fishy," Hahli repeated, remembering with crystal clarity the events of the day previous between her and the envoy from Po-Koro and how his words had beencomposed of the same basic DNA as Ambages' own. "What are you asking for, exactly?"

"Friendship!" Ambages said, his face brightening up as he repeated his spread-hand gesture. "And in the spirit of that relationship we should exchange what we need with each other. I propose a trade of resources to mutually benefit each other. For an example, Ko-Koro has a very fine hospital but are still seeking new medicines. You, on the other hand, have herbs and plants in /great/ abundance."But. I notice you've been building your koro, strengthening it. I can help you with that endeavor."

"Help us?" she repeated again, with a subtle twinge of interest this time.

"Yes." Ambages grinned as he explained. "I happen to be an architect. On my way to see you I saw the forts you've had made. These are great above sea level with apparently able construction, but your village is still vulnerable under the water. I can engineer and give you the resources needed to strengthen your foundations against saboteurs, removing your koro's biggest remaining weakness."Of course... if you have something different in mind, I'd be happy to see if it would be within my power to help you."

Hahli observed both Ambages and his offer with a keen insight and a watchful eye, both equal in their skepticism but also aware of the opportunity being offered here. Despite their many newfound strengths and opportunities, Ga-Koro Marines were still faced with the disadvantage of having a truly organic base for their Koro. The architect offered a chance to fix that."Name me the supplies you need," she finally requested, careful to keep any tone out of her voice.

"As I said, herbs to experiment, improve and diagnose ailments with. And... two frigates to defend the Ko-Wahi coastline against prowling pirates. I think this is an equal trade."

More thought. Not much more."Mister Ambages," the Akiri said, holding out a soft hand to shake, "we have ourselves an accord."

"I am thankful for your cooperation," Ambages said with excitement, accepting Hahli's pliable hand and shaking with his supple but professional grip. "I hope this will be one of many good dealings between our villages."If you would like, I can spend the night here in the koro and draw some schematics while you draft a contract of treaty. I don't feel time should be spent frivolously."

"That sounds wonderful." Hahli was clearly tired and, while sharp and on the ball, was weary of furthering the conversation beyond what was needed.

"Then I'll get to work," Ambages said. With that, the meeting between the just Akiri and the conniving architect was over.

If she was surprised before, this was a level above. She returned the hug, the fact she was bordering on tears obvious from the sound she made as she took a long, relieved breath. "I go by the second, but you know you can call me whatever you want." she smiled as she pulled away. "Care to join me for a lunch and just... talk? I didn't exactly say much the last time I was here and there is something that might interest you in what I want to tell you." Akira said, starting to feel the exhaustion from their workout.

Giggling like a little girl, Akira nodded and carefully picked up the suit of armor, vanishing in the room. She still couldn't believe her luck. It must be karma being balanced from the other life. Suffer in one, be rewarded in the next. And it came not a moment too soon. What all the rahi she fought in the wilds couldn't do, Vorlik managed without a weapon, making her see just how inadequate the bone armor was. It wouldn't do her any good against smarter opponent, not with the holes in her defense she found out she had. She pulled the snapped bones off of it before she could even get to the strings that held it on her. Untying the knots, she let it slide off and fall to the floor. Few of the pieces even broke on impact, reminding her of the time she awoke here.

Stretching her arms in the moment of complete freedom, she moved over to the new gear and started putting it on. It left no doubt about the iron toa's skill. It fit her perfectly. Taking a few steps around the room and waving her arms, she noticed it was slightly heavier, but still didn't restrict her motion too much. She gathered the garbage she used to wear and disposed of it. Walking out of the room, she asked the only uestion still unanswered: "How do I look?"

OOC: Bunnying ahead, just to get us to the right place.

IC (Weta): The team from Le-Koro spent the next half-hour looking all around for clues about the riddle or the riddler. They looked all around the underwater greenhouses ("watered plots"), talked to several people in the village, and finally combed the beach on the northern side of Naho Bay for any footprints in the sand, odd magnetic fields or anything else that could indicate that an invisible Toa Him was or had been anywhere nearby. The process was greatly sped up by the use of the two toas' masks, but in the end it didn't change the results of their search.

"I think we must have misinterpreted the riddle." Weta admitted. "He isn't here, or he's even better at hiding than we thought, and doesn't want to interact with us. Maybe we should try something else. The next largest body of water on Mata Nui after Naho Bay would be Lake Pala, and that's a good distance from, well, almost anywhere. Shall we go and have a look there?"

Viima's eye twitched. He had been involved with Ga-Matoran for far too long. This one seemed innocent, though.
