Lenat- Ga-koro

IC: "Its only a carcass if it stinks." He replied, the well rehearsed banter rolled off his tongue easily. He didn't even look up as he manipulated the intricate magnetic fields to unscrew and pull apart a joint.

"They may have come from Makuta but they are still amazing pieces of machinery. Imagine if I could make something that Matoran could ride in out of these." His eyes looked at the Matoran, looking almost as if he were looking over the top of nonexistent glasses. "And how goes the oppression of the criminal parts of society?"

His words may have been a bit harsh, but they were had an undertone of jest to them that could not have been mistaken for anything else.

When the other two being walked through the door he deactivated his gloves and stood.

"Ah, customers. What brings you here thins fine day?"

OOC: Skyra from Le-Wahi

IC: Skyra - Ga-wahi Beach -

I went to the one place Tillian was pretty much born at, the beach. I strolled down the beachhead, ignore the squirms of the bear cub in my grasp, he'd never escape it.

It was surprising easy to find the surf rat, he was talking with some Le-Toa, she seemed familiar somehow...but I didn't quite place it at first, I was more concerned about the bear trying to bite my fingers.

IC: VoutokVoutok turned his attention to the Vortixx. He nodded to the Toa to show he acknowledged his presence."Oh quite well, actually. It's been oddly quiet this week...or maybe that's just your headset working very well for me." Voutok smirked and tapped on the left ear of his headset. When the Vortixx addressed the customer, Voutok beat the Toa to speaking to get another liner in "Basically, he's come to discuss something involving the further tinkering or dead mechanical children." Voutok ushered the Toa ahead of him toward the counter then took his place against a side wall, glancing about the room and out the door in a nonchalant fashion.

Behind this sucky post count, a writer and hardcore RPer lies in wait of a reason to post...

For those who will likely ask when reading some of my non-RP posts: for me, "*shot*' = "I know that what I said was something stupid and I am acknowledging this before people think I'm serious."

Oh yeah, and my current BZPRPG character bio can be found here.

"Why...me? Oh yeah, that's right. I'm weak. I'm of a minority, a minority of people with a common trait: we hear too much. And what we're supposed to hear hurts to hear. When I'm alone in a silent room, I can hear a pebble dropping from a mile away. I can hear a motor boat being started up several yards off the coast. A whisper from outside, I can hear as if they were talking right at me. An explosion in another koro, I hear as if it's just outside. Sounds useful, right?"
"Wrong."
"It's a curse, if you ask me. The same pen dropping inside this aforementioned silent room would ring in my ears. If I stood by the same motor, I'd get a headache. The same whisper would ring in my ear like two metal beams being slammed together in front of my face. The same explosion would render me deaf for years...thank the Spirit I thought of getting me something to dampen the noise, or I'd end up like the rest of my kind..."

"Yeah, um...don't...worry about it, I guess," Tillian mumbled, the plague of awkward having struck him as well after Liara's "gee whiz, sorry your house and all your possessions burned" moment. "I miss having you around. Bestie."

"Yeah, well, it's been boring as Karzahni here without you. And that piraka Hahli won't give me a discount on my coffee."

"What a cha. I smuggled some from Le-Koro if you want a pirated cup," Tillian offered with a playful wink, taking Liara's hands in his and kicking the surfboard over to his front door. "You look like you could use it."

"Ah, sure. I kinda need to get these," She held up the small bag of meds in her hands. "Back to my house, though. They don't like too much time in the sun."

"Sounds good. I'll be your escort. Protect you from any single patients suffering from the thirst."

The grin came back, that classic Tillian grin that couldn't be faked or mimicked. And then yelling, and growling, and--

IC: VoutokThe De-Matoran shrugged. "Eh, sure, why not. I mean, Captain Iraira would want me to investigate "anomalies" on my patrols, and what's more anomalous than a sword that shoots projectiles? I mean, come on, what's next? Guns that shoot swords? Robot suits made from insect parts?" The De-Matoran moved away from the wall and joined the Vortixx and Toa.

Hi.

“What! Hi?! How dare you begin with something so crude and crass as ‘Hi’!” That’s you right now, brother.

Well, guess what? Prepare to be surprised. I’m not an average guy, nor am I one you will ever be able to predict. Every action I make is going to surprise and going to shock you (okay, maybe not every action…. But, you know, don‘t over analyze me, okay? Half the time I don‘t really mean what I say.)

Alright, now… where was I?

Oh, right! Nowhere! I was talking about nothing.

Let’s set the stage here: Our scene begins in Ga-Koro, which is a village on the coast of the island everyone lives on. Mata-Nui is it’s name, in case yer wondering. Also, Mata-Nui is the name of a (sleeping) god, so that’s a bit confusing, now. Regardless, I was in Ga-Koro, which is built entirely on lily pads.  Really, really, big, sturdy lily pads, so in no danger ‘a sinking. All the huts were made of sturdy leaf things. Really, those Ga-Matoran can’t get enough of their flora. ‘Who needs wood when you can use leaves‘!

Good lord, I get distracted quite easily, don’t I? I’m never going to tell this story. Right. Focus.

In one of these aforementioned leaf huts, a small table splits the room. This hut has no windows (unusual, in case yer wondering) but it does have a scowling Ga-Matoran touting her fancy Ga-Koro guard badge, saying she’s got some sort of fancy, basically useless, rank. It must be a low ranking one though, because it doesn’t give her an interrogation room in one of the marine’s floatin’ fortresses. She’s stuck out here, near the docks.

Across the table (Which someone had the good sense to actually make from friggin’ wood) is an incredibly handsome Toa of stone. He is tall, lean, with a perfectly sculpted body and a dashingly attractive Calix. His brown armor is scratched in that roguish way that tells his life is full of adventure. Two unusually nasty scars sit on his torso and one on his leg. Despite this, he is a fine specimen.

His name is Verak, and he is me. (Was that too confusing for you, now? I mean to say that I’ve just been describing myself in third person, and my name is also Verak, pleasure to meet ya.)

I lean back, balancing my chair on two legs as the Marine across from me reads from a thin tablet (the classic, rock type, not one of those fancy iStone thingies.). “Verak, you are accused and convicted of slander, resisting arrest, harassment and assault of a guard member, and general unpleasantness. Your sentence is sixty moons in the Ga-Koro prison. If you are wondering, that’s a bit excessive. Do you know why?”

I didn’t respond, but kept my gaze fixed on her. She was disappointingly not-pretty.

“This is your third time arrested in this Koro, all within the past year or so. Every time, you have done something unnecessarily stupid. First you bump into a guard, make fun of her, and get in an argument that escalates into an attack. The next time you refuse to give up your weapons after being brought in for questioning, and ended up running and assaulting our guard. This time- what was it? Throwing a mildly destructive tantrum after finding your favorite healer is gone? Every time you blatantly annoy our guard and resist simple requests for the most minor of things. Why do you do it? There are dozens of people who have been in your place and none of them are imprisoned like you continue doing. What is wrong with you?”

I raise an attractive eyebrow. “Nothin’. I just have no respect for silly rule lovin’ institutions like the Guard.”ert

“And it seems you don’t mind jail either.” She deadpanned.

“No, it’s more that yer jails can’t hold me.”

She rolled her eyes. “You’d be surprised. We have a special place for insane Toa like you.”

Oh, not cool.

“Hey, I’m not insane, lady.” I said, with no trace of my usual swagger and confidence. My voice was icy right now. “Don’t you dare call me insane.”

She smirked. “Says the person with no common sense or concern for their own safety. You laugh at laws, laugh at societal rules, and treat life like a joke. It’s just… you don’t live in the same world we live in.”

I scoffed. “Oh, and that makes me insane, now? Just because I’m not a part of yer society? Whenever someone breaks the mold, and acts in a way that’s not expected of them- laughing at the wrong jokes, not picking up on societal cues, doing things that just aren’t allowed- you call them insane. Yer afraid of them, sister- they make you question yer reality. They make ye wonder why ye do listen to the boring societal norms, why ye obey them. So you slap a label on these ‘insane’ people; they’re not responsible for their own actions. That way you can ignore their enlightened ideas and go on with your boring little life.”

She stared at me in stony silence. I scared her into submission; she doesn’t know what to say. Or maybe she just doesn’t think my speech is worthy of a response. Whatever.

“What’s yer goal in life, sister?” I asked her, to break the silence.

“Do my Duty, keep my Unity, and achieve my Destiny. Those are the three virtues, those are the values every living being should obey, given to us by our God, Mata Nui.”

“I live my life to have fun, sister. Y’know, because when I die, I’m not gonna really care about how much I helped my society. God, I don’t even care now, and never will. It doesn’t help me, sister. What makes me happy is bein’ happy. That’s what life is. Havin’ fun.”

She stared at me. “Well, have fun in jail.” the marine said, setting down a wooden box on the table. “There’s your only possession you asked for- a box of sand.”

I greedily snatched it up and held it close.

“If you don’t mind my asking,” the guard asked, “Why do you want a box of sand?.”

“I want it,” I said with as smile as I took of the lid, “Because I don’t have fun in jail.”

Then the sand flew out of the box and slammed into the chest of the not-pretty guard, knocking her back through the door behind her.

Oh, did I not mention that I control sand, not stone?

I strode out of the house with a smile and walked past her, picking the mask off her face and tossing it into the ocean. The Ga-Matoran outside the recently broken hut turned and stared, but didn’t made a move as I strutted through the lily pads, a cloud of sand following behind me.

One of them charged me. A guard? A brave soul? I didn’t care. With a flick of my wrist they, too were hit my undodgable cloud of sand, knocking them back into the ocean.

I smiled a prettier Ga-Matoran, spun around, and walked backwards across a bridge spanning the lily pad I was on and the docks.

IC: Treize

Treize, even in her rather tired state, managed to quickly notice the Toa attempting to escape on a skiff. Somehow he had managed to disable several of her fellow guards in the process, which was rather ... disheartening, especially when they were supposed to be well-trained and able to fight beings of greater strength than them.

"Actually, new order. Man the launchers."

Taking the helm, the captain set sail, the brig speeding towards the tiny skiff.

IC: ZacaxZacax went back into the small forge and workshop and grabbed the blueprints and presented them to the two. It appeared to have the same aspect of a rifle, though there was a blade that came from where the grip was, as well as a the handle given a function shift angles. "I call it, the Maiden Voyage, mainly because this is the first design," Zacax said,IC: Helsina"Oi," a female voice said. Immediately Verak would find a spear like weapon at his throat, in the hands of the beautiful Helsina. It had been a while since he came out of hiding, having survived that Mercenary island, "This so happens to be ship I'm taking,"

Lenat- Ga-koro

IC: The Vortixx looked at the blueprints for several minutes before taking a stick of charcoal from his bag and making several adjustments. An extra few degrees here, a gear there. Letting out a sigh, he stood back and spoke.

"The overall design is solid, only a few tweaks here and there. You are going to need to provide the gun for it since I don't think anyone on the island including me, can make one from scratch yet. Other then that, I should have no problems with it. I hope you don't mind if I copy the designs. You can consider it part of the payment."

Yeah, I probably should have seen this coming. You don’t just walk out of a highly defended Koro ‘without a break in your stride’. But, you know what, brother? I got pretty Rokin’ close. Close enough to be ridin’ a wave of euphoria as the relatively large ship came plowing towards me.

I laughed as the wooden wall approached my tiny excuse for a seagoing vessel. When the prow of that ship hit it, both the raft and I would be entirely broken and pretty useless. Not somethin’ I really wanted to be, y’know?

So I leaned right, almost capsizing the skiff, and pushed forwards with my mind. Within the sail of my ship was not wind- it was sand. Something that I had complete control over. This means I have almost complete control over my ship. Smart, isn’t it, brother?

So I was almost easily able to pull my sad little construction of wood to the side, missing the brig by a mere bio. As the creaking hull slid past me, I looked up to the deck and waved cheerily.

“Fine weather today, isn’t it, brother?” I called up.

IC: Celite (Naho Bay, near the waterfall)She was sitting next to the KauKau-shaped waterfall cliff. A strange blue-and-white Turaga that had turned Ga-Koro into her home. Occasionally, The Turaga of Lightning would dip her non-staffed hand into the water and concentrate, channelling her minute elemental power into tiny electric bolts which were strong enought to kill a small fish Rahi at first, but the powr dispersed as it travelled further into the river. After trying for the fifteenth time, Celite sighed."Even now, when it's been years since I changed, I still cannot get used to having so little power." She chuckled under her breath, remembering the days back when she was able to freely control the lightning and fry anyone who stood in her way or refused to pay her. But that was long past now; in fact, she had still not found closure on how much she lost when she gave up her Toa Power. She hadn't expected to become quite so weak. In retrospect, it seemed unlikely that anyone could fully understand how it felt unless they went through it themselves. Still, she had bigger plans right now. She'd always wanted to found a village of Lightning, but as she was now almost entirely out of work due to a lack of translation needs, she would have to use other means. Her recently-purchased home in Ga-Koro had let her learn many interesting things, among them the new 'Akiri' system that had been introduced before she arrived. It seemed quite alien to her, the idea that Matoran would lead themselves. It was alien, and she wanted to correct it. Slowly, she walked towards the Koro, her staff being used as support as she walked. Apparently her posture was not as good as she thought. It took her quite some time when she finally made it to the fortified gates of the Koro. Apparently it had not always been this way, but relations between the Koros was anything but great now and 'outsiders' were considered a risk - even if they were a mere Turaga like herself. This overt caution would make her plans quite difficult to pull off, but it still seemed easier than convincing others to build a new home.

Once bid inside upon explaining she lived in the village, She began making her way towards one of the lilly-huts, specifically the one she owned and called home.OOC: Celite open for interaction.

The first cannonball missed me due to sheer luck. This is something I have a lot of, brother, and it has served me well. Watch it save me now:

I grasped the mast and leaned forwards, pushed the sand-filled sails, and my sad excuse for a skiff zoomed off, almost perpendicular to the water. When I heard the next shot fire, I leaned back on my raft-with-a-mast and almost entirely stopped my forward momentum. The cannon shot, perfectly aimed at where I would have been, merely threw up a geyser of water.

I sped off on my unrealistically maneuverable raft-skiff-thing. Cannon shots boomed after me, but they were too slow and too loud. Somehow, me and my mask (remind me to write you an ode sometime, Calix) dodged them. Some closer that others. Their spray covered me and my fabulously scarred armor, and my skiff even had marks where a metal ball had clipped the wooden planks.

With every sudden stop and start the water foamed and twisted angrily, and I could hear the ropes that bound my raft creak ominously. It wasn’t long, I was sure, before everything fell apart. A cannonball zoomed by my face. I could hear it zip through the air, feel the wind on my wet face.

I laughed again, and more cannon shots missed me by exhilaratingly close margins.

IC: Voutok"Your apprentice, I assume?" Voutok said as the new arrival delivered what Voutok could tell were Rahkshi parts."Voutok, Ga-Koro Marines. The Vortixx is Lenat, a Vortixx engineer. Your boss—I assume, by the sign, 'Zacax'—has sought him to aid in your 'gunblade' idea-"Due to his headset being on the "2" setting since arriving in the Toa's store, the sound of distant cannon shots was clear as day. Voutok briefly excused himself out of the store and looked toward the docks, where he saw in the distance a little skiff trying to dodge cannon fire from a significantly larger ship. He recognized the general style and shape of the one piloting the Skiff: the Marines had arrested him before awhile back and Voutok lost the coin toss with another Recruit to decide who would do the paperwork. With a sigh and a roll of the eyes, he entered the house and turned to Lenat with a solemn tone. "Ugh...THIS loon again. I'm sorry to depart so soon, but I need to take care of this. Lenat? Got a spare crossbow on you? Rookies are kind of low-priority for getting the gear you send in, and I'm going to need a ranged weapon to deal with that outside." Voutok pointed to the fleeing offshore skiff.

The Cowrie rocked gently in the calm waters of Naho Bay. The sun blazed; the water gleamed like sapphires. Another perfect day.

Balanced on the creaking bow, leaning out with one hand clinging to the boom, Faori watched the water intently. Adjusting her grip on the harpoon she held in her right hand, she remained almost motionless, save for the calm motion of the boat upon the water. Ruki fish were fast, and a blink could mean she'd miss one.

Suddenly, there was a bright flash beneath the boat. Without even needing to think, Faori's arm lunged forward, propelling the harpoon straight at the fleeing Rahi. The point made contact, and Faori quickly pulled the harpoon back. On the end was a struggling, and very, very tiny, Ruki fish. Faori sighed, tossing the fish into the woven basket in the Cowrie's stern. One tiny fish, after a whole day's bad luck.

Looking out across the water, she smiled. Today wasn't a day for work anyway. Barely breaking the surface, Faori slipped gently into the warm embrace of the bay, and floated on her back, smiling up at the sun. The only sounds were of sea-birds, and the water gently lapping against the side of the boat.

If your flare gun has that long rangeI'm estimating that skiff is a good several bios away nowand you've got good enough aim, please take a few shots at the sail and mast. Either way, Lenat, I'm going to need one of your crossbows, and Mr. Zacax, if you are able and willing, I'd like for you to help light some of the bolts before I fire them, to help burn out the sails and whatnot."

OOC: A really big thanks has to go out to Nuju Metru for allowing me to change Vrana's species and continue him in the game.

IC: Vrana

A black shape swooped over the village, moving with easy through the air. But he couldn't feel it as he had before, the connection he felt once with the skies above was gone. It took the mask upon his face to fly now, no longer needing to feel the air around him moving to find current to ease his flight. It was freeing, he was under his own will and the wind currents did not bind him, but it felt so cold, so lifeless and disconnected. It would take a long time to get accustomed to, but he knew he had little choice.

His black armored form slowly lowered itself down onto the ground in a village street, his landing a very rough one as he lost his balance nearing the end, causing him  to crash face-first. He couldn't understand how anyone could ever reach skill in the air with such a bizarre way of flying, but he would find a way. Nothing would be permitted to slow him down.

Though being a Toa did come with one interesting aspect he had never really thought of.and one he had spent countless hours playing around with. He could control plants, not very well, but he could reach out and guide them as he wished. it was a strange sense of power, but one that he couldn't say he didn't enjoy.

The hardest part had to be getting used to cooked food, and vegetation. It was fun to control but the taste of it was just plain foul. Fruits though, he liked the taste of. The sweet ones were a pleasant new surprise, and an almost welcome taste after a life of raw meat. But there was still the desire to hunt, and he was doing his best to hold it at bay.

As he rose to his feet, he took a look around the village of water for the first time since his bizarre change. Vrana, Toa of the Green, had arrived.

Rebuilding the village after the Rahkshi attack had been hard work. Of course, the widgets in his pocket more than made up for his efforts. It was nice to have money again.

As he squinted up into the bright sun, a sudden idea struck him. After some searching, he found his pair of what he had dubbed 'sunglasses,' glasses formed from thin chips of obsidian that helped block the sun's rays. With a smile, he remembered the people he'd gone with to have the things made. Now that had been an adventure.

And, as he remembered times gone by, a strange-looking Toa crashed to earth not far in front of him.

He stood up, concerned. When the being stood up, unharmed, he couldn't help but chuckle. "You should be more careful," he said, taking off the glasses to get a better look at the person. "You're going to hu-..." He paused midsentence. "If you don't mind my saying so, you look a lot like somebody I used to know."

IC: CeliteThe Turaga came to a halt, and didn't so much as turn to face the newcomer."They are in my way." She said, closing her eyes to emphasise smugness. "And I have no time to let annoying Matoran with no respect for their elders prevent me from going where I need be."She couldn't help but admit to herself that whoever the adversary that she still refused to look at was, they must have something of interest to be able to nullify her abilities."Is there anything ELSE you want from me?" There was a distinct coldness in her voice there. Perhaps in her younger days she would have happily engaged in a fight to steal whatever the adversary had, but as she was now she was just too weak and would have to 'win' this battle solely with words. "...And who are you to order me around, in any case?"

Two ghostly white eyes turned towards the person talking. He knew that voice, that he was quite certain of, but for some reason he just couldn't remember exactly who it belonged to. As soon as they caught a glimpse of the Toa of plasma, he knew exactly who was commenting upon his tumble. It was Cadias, the Toa who had ended up horribly burning him, and one of the closest things he had to a friend.

As he was about to inform the chuckling, laid back  sunglasses wearing Toa of his identity, a small thought passed through his mind. He knew he had to do it, it would be an opportunity he would not have again. He squinted, looking towards Cadias, acting as though he couldn't make out the person we was speaking to.

It was at this time that he was happy his voice had changed along with everything else. It was a bit deeper than before, and would give him just enough of an edge in this plan. "No, I don't mind at all. I get that a lot, but maybe I actually have seen you before. Hold on just a moment, the sun is in my eyes."

Reaching into his armor, he pulled out his own pair of sunglasses, created so long ago by Navayak. They were covered in dust and smudged, due to never using them, but the design was easily recognizable to someone who had a near identical pair upon their face.

"Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become,"-C.S. Lewis

IC:"Your actions constitute assault. They are not in your way, they are going about their day. And I would not move aside for an arrogant Turaga either.""Cease your behavior."
