BZPRPG - Ta-Wahi

OOC: This is going quite badly, in a hilarious way.

IC: Brekan.

There wasn't much choice in the matter, really. She could either go with the guard, through the streets of the village, a walk through Karzahni itself, or she could run away from the guards, and get herself in a whole lot more trouble than ever before.

She chose the third option, staying in place, breathing heavily and trying to keep herself from having a panic attack. She was having a really really bad day, why was facing life-threatening danger easier than dealing with people?

IC Tuli

(Ta-Koro, alley):

"Well then, your choice", Tuli said after waiting for a while. She took out a guard horn and blew into it. The sound carried all over Ta-Koro, signalling that help was needed. A dozen guards or so entered the scene then, surrounding Brekan.

"We're going to the post."

IC: Brekan

The Arrival of more guards merely began to make it worse. First came the sweating and intense feelings of cold. She felt panicked, like she could barely breathe. She found herself shaking visibly, unable to stop, though it wasn't from the feelings of cold.

She stumbled backwards slightly, losing her balance and barely managing to catch herself on the back of the alley where she had been standing. She slowly slid t the ground, eyes wide with panic.

IC-Γρώχι:

"Οh, stop this madness," Grochi growled, looking down into the alley, from one of the rooftops. Where earlier he'd been headed to his home, he'd instead decided to take a bit to walk around the Koro; go figure one of the first things he saw was the guards picking upon somebody random.

Activating his Kualsi, he teleported down to just in front of the guards, in between them and Brekan.

"Can't you see she's both scared halfway to death and hasn't really done anything wrong?"

(Ta-Koro, alley):

"With all due respect, Toa, the Ta-Koro guard follows certain rules", Tuli said. "We are not accusing him for anything. At least I was not doing that when I encountered him. But his behavior is suspicious, to say the least, and any guard has the right to get a clearance on the situation. We must not allow potential threats to grow within our borders."

Tuli turned at Brekan. "This doesn't explain why you are acting like this, though. Do you have problems with speech?"

IC(Liacada-Ta-Koro)Liacada snapped awake to the sound of guards gathering in an alleyway. Out of her window she saw it all going down. Apparently remaining silent was grounds for a lynch mob. Hmm...a Toa with a grudge against the law would be perfect for her mission. As always, a posse was more effective than a Lone Ranger. Leaving her belongings in the building, she dove out of the window and rolled a landing on the ground. Even as another Toa teleported to the ground, she drew her weapon."I'm only going to say this once."One hand holding a blade and the other surrounded in fire, she glared into the eyes of the Matoran who had gathered an entire troop on grounds of suspicion."Back. Down."OOC: Yes, she is deliberately causing trouble

"Then I must know more of your guard's general practice than you do, seeing as I know that one does not gather an entire bloody squad of guards to deal with a simple loiterer, especially not when that person displays easily visible fear upon seeing a guard!" Grochi snapped.

"I would rather you back down, as well as you, miss," he growled, glaring at Liacada. "Unless you wish to be arrested based on threatening behaviour."

"What is this thing with questioning authority?!" Tuli shouted. "For Mata Nui's sake, we are merely investigating for the safety of Ta-Koro! I am but a Matoran, I cannot alone handle the situation, so naturally I called for reinforcements."

The next words were directed at the newcomer. They were much quieter but carried more threat. "And I believe you should be the one backing down, unless you want to be charged for opposing the Ta-Koro guard."

IC: Brekan

The alleyway had gone to madness now, people were coming in to see what was causing the commotion. It was likely that none of them had ever seen a Toa with Anthropophobia having an anxiety attack in the middle of the alleyway, surrounded by guards.

But when a weapon had been drawn, she knew everything was going to go even worse. She struggled to say something, but found the tightness she was feeling around her throat and intense fear had halted her ability to say anything.

"Or you can all shut up and stop being so belligerent with each other!" Grochi yelled at Liacada, Tuli, and the other guards. "Here's how this is going to work: Miss I-Have-A-Big-Flaming-Sword, you will sheathe your weapon and step back. Guardswoman, you will send these other guards away, as it does not take an entire squad exercising fear tactics against a single person in order to ensure safety, and then we will all have a civilized, quiet discussion." He stepped back, towards Brekan, a simple gesture to show that nobody would come nearer to the Toa.

"Do we understand that, or will I have to repeat myself?"

IC(Liacada-Ta-Koro)The Toa of fire sheathed her weapon and her element faded. "They must be handing out badges to anybody who walks in the door these days. Authority is based on protection of the weak, not oppression of the them. It's disgraceful.""I apologize for the show of force. Blatant abuse of position kind of bothers me." She said, not without a glare at Tuli.

The horn had attracted my attention and I had followed it to the most recent den of scum and villainy in this town.

Or so I thought.

I forced my way through the guards, only to see a panicked Toa, the guardswoman from last night, and one karz of a mess.

IC Tuli

(Ta-Koro, alley):

Tuli would not let the situation go out of her control. What were these Toa thinking, trying to do the job of the guard?

"Excuse me, fair Toa", Tuli said, trying to control her temper. "But may I remind you that we represent the guard. You may be Toa, but if you ask Akiri Jaller, the guard has the highest authority around here."

Tuli turned and Brekan. "Secondly, we are not threatening or lynching anybody. All we are doing is figuring out the motives for the bizarre behavior of this individual, in order to protect the city of Ta-Koro."

Suddenly he entered the scene. Khervos.

"Well, that was fast", Tuli said. "Would everyone just get going? We know that we're doing."

IC Tuli

(Ta-Koro, alley):

"The name is Tuli", Tuli said with a hint of acid in her voice. "And you may know how to talk sly, but you are not part of the guard. I am following a strict form here."

Tuli waved her hands. "Ta-Koro is in the middle of a stage of development. Threats are present on all sides. Other villages are turning against us. Do you think we can allow possible hazards to grow within our walls? This Toa may not be guilty of anything, but her mannerisms give reason to be suspicious. For all any of you know, she might be stationed in this abandoned alley for drug dealing WHICH is a serious offense and threatens our civilians. Jaller himself has said to always be on guard. Yet everyone present seems to blame me for this Toa's quietness. So it is I who is at fault here?"

There was a moment of silence. One of the guards approached and put a hand on Tuli's shoulder to calm her down. Tuli shook it off. "Let them talk", she said, referring to Khervos.

"But you said -"

"Let. Him. Talk. With. Her", Tuli repeated sternly. Then, turning to the two Toa, she said "And you either be quiet or leave."

I don't recall seeing you.

"Now, if you go ask Akiri Jaller, you'll find him saying that I have perfect authority to stop you from ganging up on a hapless Toa. Now you can all back away now, and allow me to help this Toa, or I will be forced to remove you to ensure this Toa's mental stability."

IC Tuli

(Ta-Koro, alley):

That was more than Tuli could take.

"Good job, hero", Tuli said to Grochi, her words insincere and full of anger. "I bet that battle left you with brain damage so you don't see how the world has changed. We no longer live under the rules of Makuta's reign. We are not facing a dark lord anymore. We are facing far greater threats - those you may think you can trust. You, sir, live in the past, not realizing that your way is not always the right one anymore. Plus, the Toa isn't helpless. He will receive everything you could give her - and more - from the guard... once we have escorted him to the nearest guard post. In your excitement to judge the ways of the guard and proclaiming yourself the lone hero, you may have blinded yourself to the fact that we happen to be on the same side. We do not treat anyone worse. We are specifically trying to get her off the street. Is that 'unfair', then? Is that what's wrong with my actions, hmm?"

IC-Γρώχι:

Contrary to general expectations, instead of letting his anger flare up at Tuli, Grochi did something else: He grinned.

"First, I doubt you will provide her with everything needed if you cannot even recognize that the Toa is female. Second, the fact that you felt the need to call in an entire squad of guards for something like this means that you obviously do not have an understanding of proper guard protocol. Third, the majority of your guards have been paranoid towards me, somebody who only has the Koro's best interests at heart, simply because I live farther outside of the Koro than your burnt-up forest's trees." Grochi still smiled; now he was counting off of his fingers.

"Do not think to say I live in the past when I have greater experience with just how far things have fallen, both between and within the Koros, than you do. Fourth, your calling in an entire squad of guards has left the Toa effectively helpless - after all, if you look, you'll see her on the ground, in fear. And fifth, your completely unnecessary temper flare shows that you aren't fully fit for service, if a simple comment can give you such a reaction. You are supposed to be impersonal in the fulfillment of your duty to the Koro. Now, I say it again; Leave. You aren't helping anybody except me, in realizing just how incompetent you are." Without further ado, Grochi turned away from Tuli and her guards, stepping to Brekan and kneeling down.

"Just nod or shake your head, if you don't trust yourself to speak - would you like a glass of water or something like that, at the moment? Something to cool you down?"

In response to Grochi kneeling down beside her, she managed to make out a small nod amid the shaking. She was slowly managing to pull herself back together, recovering from the stress-induced Panic.

The day had all gone horribly wrong, right from the start. First she had gotten terrified and stressed from the sheer number of people, then when she tried to calm herself, she had caught the attention of the guard, causing more stress. After that, finding words had been difficult, and the threat of being taken in had caused more stress. Then there where a lot of guards, then more people arrived.

She wished she had just stayed home in Ga-Koro.

OOC: Oops, I did notice she was female. Just once I slipped and Grochi uses it against Tuli... :P Tough.

IC Tuli

(Ta-Koro, alley):

Deep inside, Tuli was glad she was not a Toa, especially since her element was fire. She may have literally exploded into flames.

As things stood, she found herself unable to do anything further. Proud and sure of her own ways she may have been, but now was clearly the time to give up.

"Your rudeness will get you into trouble one day", Tuli said as if it was a challenge. "I will report this to Akiri Jaller. Unlike what you think, I do know and follow the guard protocol."

Sighing, Tuli waved one hand at the other guards. They separated and drifted from the scene, making frequent backward glances at the Ta-Matoran who had just lost her temper worse than any could remember.

Tuli was about to leave when she remembered Khervos. She opened her mouth, but then shut it again. After pondering for a while, she said: "I guess I'm not quite the woman you met last night. Sorry you had to see that."

She turned her back on Khervos and left, but before she was too far she said over her shoulder: "By the way, you might want to watch those two. They're going to be trouble later."

She attempted to rise to her feet, as the guards left she seemed to slowly be catching her breath. It wasn't the first time something like this had happened, once with her old friend, they had been... no, that tale was better left forgotten. Anything involving insect detonation was better left untold.

She helped herself up using the wall, avoiding Grochi's hand. It wasn't anything personal, she just really didn't like being in the company of people she didn't know. "Thanks... both of you..." Maybe not so much the person who had drawn a sword, but a violent defense was better than none.

There was a choice that was far too easy to make. The house would be peaceful, secluded and quiet, but right now, she felt she could really use a drink. It didn't take much to relax her, it also seemed to make talking easier. The power of alcohol against inhibitions was a strong one indeed.

"Lava pool..." She just had to manage to reach the bar... through the Koro streets... before she could get a drink. Maybe she was better off staying in the alleyway.

Mustering her courage, she took a few steps towards the end of the alleyway, before stopping before she reached the end, not really wanting to move any farther. It was about as far as she felt she was going to be able to go.

IC - Lerszgal:

Lerszgal's heart pounded with its typical fervor as he walked into Ta-Koro. Even before the village had become a fortress entering it had always unnerved him. But with the advent of its fortification, it was almost a nightmare: he only did business here because there was an abundant demand for the rope that he painstakenly crafted. Still, the security around the place made him wonder if it was worth it. the guardhouse alone had made him feel unnerved. The guards had been a little suspicious of the peddler, and in his instantly inflicted paranoid state he had wondered if he would even gotten in had not one of the guards recognized him from a previous travel here.

Lerszgal was a Matoran of peace, that was it. He liked a good trade, a chat with a good friend or an intelligent client He liked the feel of the air, and the thrill of never living in a Koro. Guards, weapons, senseless bickering and hatred, he disliked them with a ferocious loathing.

Outwardly as he walked along the road, casually glancing at the huts that lined the way, he was calm. Inside, he was about ready to run for dear life at the slightest scare.

So when a dozen guard seemed to congregate out of nowhere, it was most understandable that he did not react in a patriotic manner. At the sight of the dispersing guards, he jumped back with a half gasp-half cry of surprise, trying desperately not to run.

IC Tuli

(Ta-Koro, alley):

"Until we meet again", Khervos said and left after waving a goodbye.

Tuli watched him leave.

"Somehow I know we will", she said with such a quiet voice nobody could hear her. Then, sighing once more, she left the alley to resume her patrol. She had a report to write to Jal-

Was that the Toa who had insulted her running across the street with the fearful Toa in his arms?

"Pssht, I knew he had some intentions of his own", Tuli murmured under her breath, but decided to leave it at that.

Tuli went to one of the guard members' lounges, where she started writing her report. On purpose she described the interfering Toa with harsher and more politically incorrect words than was really appropriate for a report.

IC: (Perkahn, Lavapool Inn)

There are some things that you are extremely unlikely to see in your lifetime. One of them - an extremely, extremely, extremely unlikely thing to see - is Grochi walking, Karz, rushing into an inn with a woman in his arms. A distinctly, distinctly rare event that Perkahn was utterly and piercingly surprised to see.

He also wasn't surprised enough not to identify the symptoms of this disease. Clearly, the woman needed a drink. He waved his friend over to the corner where he and Stronin were based, and gestured to the good large bottle of Salamander's at the table.
